  2. At BUCK we’re always seeking something new and unique to showcase, and this year we’re lining up a range of new acts, as well as our favourites.Today we’re thrilled to announce our most exciting new guest yet, in his first ever UK performance – Shawn Wasabi! Unfortunately, no one can really be told who Shawn Wasabi is or what he does – you have to see it for yourself. Thankfully that’s as easy as watching this video: Shawn Wasabi is a 21 year old producer and controllerist raised by a traditional Filipino family in the city of Salinas, CA. He started his passion into the world of pushing buttons when his childhood friend Ian (of Hyper Potions) left his Midi Fighter 3D over at his house in April of 2013 to play around with and which eventually led to the creation of the live mashup Pizza Rolls. Since then he has established an internet fanbase and reputation as one of the most dynamic controllerists around: pushing buttons for the internet and live for international fans alike. He awed the world again with his latest release of Marble Soda, which hit a million views within 48 hours of being uploaded. Beyond the glittery mixture of sugary sounds, Shawn Wasabi is also well-known for the very rare and colourful Midi Fighter 64 controller he uses to create his music. Built with a mixture of 3D printing and laser cutting, this controller was engineered exclusively for Shawn Wasabi by the Midi Fighter inventor, Michael Mitchell. Shawn will be playing live in the UK for the very first time at the Summer Sun Celebration at EventCity Manchester on 9th of April – this will be a truly unmissable event! Tickets and additional lineup information are available at http://www.summersuncelebration.co.uk, and as always, stay tuned to our website, facebook, and twitter for the latest information. SUMMER STARTS HERE!
  3. BUCK Announces Peter New, Nicole Martel, Merch and More! It’s two and a half months until BUCK 2016, and there’s so much still to do! So to kick things off, we’re thrilled to announce that the best member of the Apple family Peter New will be attending BUCK in April! As well as Big Macintosh, Peter has a huge list of credits under his belt - including ‘Ian Vashti’ in Gundam00, and ‘Lunk’ in Powerpuff GirlsZ as well as many side-roles in movies, and TV shows. Peter is well known for bringing the party to all the conventions he attends interacting with attendees and guests alike - but as well as bringing his personality, he’ll also be bringing his knowledge of acting and writing to our main stage in a special VIP workshop to tell you about his methods and his inspirations - so don’t miss it! Keeping the theme of guests going, it’s with a note of disappointment that we announce that Daniel Ingram has informed us that he will be unable to attend BUCK this year due to a busy schedule with upcoming projects at DHX. Although it pains us to lose Daniel’s input from BUCK 2016, we will be making up the gap with additional guests - keep your eye out for more announcements! On a happier note - one of those new guests is Nicole Martel, layout designer for a host of popular children’s cartoons including Friendship is Magic and Transformers Rescue Bots. Nicole is responsible for the iconic composition we see in My Little Pony, setting up camera angles, props, and backgrounds to bring the viewer into the scene and draw their focus to the right places. A hugely underrated role in production, we’ve invited Nicole to present a workshop at BUCK on what she does and how we see her work hidden in every scene of our favourite shows. Lots of you joined us in November for the BUCK LDN Season 5 Finale meetup. Held at the excellent Red Herring pub (over two levels) we had karaoke, vendors, fun and the all-important Pub Quiz. We’ve just posted up the photos on our Facebook page, so go check those out! As an aside, we will be hosting a Pony Pub Quiz at BUCK too! Our community guests will be joining us as we hire out an entire Frankie & Benny’s to host it. You can join us by visiting our tickets page and grabbing a Guest Buffet ticket. NEW ONLINE MERCH STORE This year you can pre-order your merch from our new online BUCK store and pick it up at the convention from our friendly merch team at the Official BUCK stand. Our design team have been burning the midnight oil to bring you some excellent swag. Our collectible limited edition challenge coin has returned this year with a new design. The quicker you order one the lower the laser-inscribed number will be. We also have a brand new product for 2016: Wall scrolls. A modern take on the popular japanese anime wall-hangings; ours features Dark Britty and the Tea Fighters. We’ve got some amazing t-shirt designs (and a special 20% Cooler one you can pick up in the ticket store), posters, badges and more. There’s even an SSC glow in the dark plectrum for the musicians out there! But wait… there’s more! CHECK OUT OUR VENDORS We know that you all love to get some unique gifts and goodies at BUCK. This year we have some outstanding vendors coming along with a wide range of products and wares that will be available in our Vendor Hall. From plushies to art prints, ceramics to figurines, accessories to embroidery and lots lots more! You should totally check out our BUCK 2016 Vendors Page on our website and look at all the mini-profiles for our current vendors, and we’ll be adding more as we go along! One of our vendors is even doing a workshop on the amazing Charity Quilt. These quilts have so far raised over £18,000 for charities. Jillah will be looking at the different styles, techniques and skills in some of the panels for this year’s quilt which will be auctioned in Europe at GalaCon; the first time outside the USA. CREATE YOUR OWN WORKSHOPS & PERFORMANCES Ever wanted to do a workshop? This year you can! Our Community Workshop spots are 45 minute sessions dedicated to sharing the talents, skills and interests of our community members. If you think you have a great idea for one, all you have to do is email us with an outline of the idea, and answer a few questions on our google form. You can find more information about how to apply in our news post about it. A bit more musically inclined? We’re also looking for applicants to perform a set on our Cadence Stage: the community musicians stage we started in 2014. Not only will you get to perform in front of a live audience, but we’ll record your set and send you the footage after the con. Simply send us an example of your performance, along with some relevant information about you, your group or band to our Music Manager whose details can be found on the Cadence Stage page. We’re particularly after things with a fun performance factor that are a bit out of the box. Speaking of out of the box… we welcome ‘Out the Box TV’ to perform live at BUCK. With a focus on adrenaline, wackiness and totally out there crazy stunts, you’re sure to see some real fun around the convention. We’ll see you all soon! BUCK Towers
  4. Community Workshop Applications OPEN Hey you! Have you got an idea for an event at BUCK 2016? We’re looking for people who do arts, crafts, media, music, or other socially creative stuff and want to share their skills, methods, and work with the community. At BUCK we hate Q&A panels, while a few questions and answers from the audience are great, most of the general questions on subjects we know have been covered many different times at many events. So last year we asked our guests not to simply step on stage and wait for a good question, but to give the audience something to ask questions about. We had Dave Polsky speak about his writing method and inspirations, and he gave a stirring speech about ideas the audience had never considered before. We had G. M. Berrow do the same, and people were thrilled to hear entirely different ideas, and they could compare on contrast different methods to see what worked for them. We also had Heather Breckel demonstrate her digital colouring methods live on stage, showing people how to get started, what tools were needed, and how basic line-art is brought to life through flats, shading, and lighting. So step up and tell us what you have to show to the community! Chosen applicants will be given a designated time slot in one of our workshop rooms to use as they see fit! Send in your ideas using This Google Form, and we’ll be sorting through them as fast as possible!
  5. Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has been to BUCK (the British brony con)? If so what can I expect? I've never been to a brony con before. I've done MCM and other comic cons but I wasn't sure if it was kinda the same format. I'll be going on my own also as no one I know in person has any interest so would that make the experience any less enjoyable? Thanks in advance
  6. Guess who's back? Back again! BUCK is back: tell a friend! Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, na na naaaah! Yes it's that time of the year again, the time where we tell you what's going in the UK MLP:FiM BUCK I NEED MORE ACRONYMS scene: Visit http://buckcon.org for details of our announcement about a shiny new iteration of the BUCKcon empire, or for those who tl:dr Con: BUCK 2016 Where: EventCity Manchester, UK. When: 9th and 10th April 2016 Why: Because it's cheeky Nando's time!
  7. My questions got answered and I am now planning on heading to BUCK in the following year! ^-^ Please feel free to delete this topic mods
  8. I recently had a thought: Could Ponies play Kick-Ball? Many of you likely remember playing Kick Ball in elementary school: It's basically the same as baseball, instead the ball is a larger kickable ball that is rolled to you (instead of pitched), and you kick it while running toward it (instead hitting it with a bat). While I can imagine Ponies kicking a ball while standing in place, I can also imagine a Pony tripping and falling while trying to kick a ball while running toward it. Perhaps they'd have their own Pony version of the sport, "Buck-Ball". I could see Applejack bucking a ball so hard that it would fly over cloudsdale. What do you think?
  9. howdy yall, i was wondering if anyone here is going to buck con in the UK this august. if you are does any of you wanna meet up?
  10. Hello everyone! Nethesem here from the BUCK Convention in Manchester, UK – thank you to Artemis for allowing me to post this, I thought I’d tell you a bit about our convention! Engage wall of information text dump! What is BUCK? BUCK is one of the biggest My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic conventions in Europe, with an attendance of over a thousand people from across the world – 36 different countries in fact! We are a double-event. We open Friday night with The Summer Sun Celebration, a four hour concert hosted by some of the best fandom musicians, with live performances on a festival-sized sound system. We’ve got a whole range of music–from Rock to DnB, Rap Dubstep and more. Saturday and Sunday is the convention proper, filled with discussion panels, workshops, and demonstrations designed not only to show off the fandom’s creativity, but to inspire you to get creative yourself! Our events cover many aspects of the community, including Music and Art, Cosplay and Charity Auctions, Games and Crafts, and the social extravaganza of a thousand like-minded fans in one building! Who will be there? We’re building a whole list of guests from a range of backgrounds, all of them bringing their expertise to our events. Hosting their own workshops will be G. M. Berrow, author of the MLP Chapter Books – Heather Breckel, who is responsible for colouring the Friendship is Magic IDW Comic Book series – and Dave Polsky, episode writer. Our performers for the Summer Sun Celebration on Friday night will include: Prince Whateverer, with a full band behind him AcousticBrony, also performing as a full band! Mic the Microphone General Mumble Icky Lavender Harmony Addictia The Living Tombstone HMage And because we had so many amazing musicians offering their talents, we lined up another two music events for Saturday and Sunday – The Lunar Eclipse, with another mixed line up – and our all new Cadence Stage, a grass-roots event designed to give the lesser known musicians a shot on the big stage! We’ve also got a range of artists in the field of digital art, cosplay, animation, video games, and creative writing, all of whom will be sharing their finest work to date. Where is it? BUCK takes place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, in Manchester, UK. It’s an enormous complex of big airy rooms around a huge converted railway station, complete with stunning victorian architecture. Surrounding the venue is the charismatic and diverse city centre of Manchester, with galleries, restaurants, bars, and many other attractions to suit any background. When will it be held? The Summer Sun Celebration is Friday 22nd of August, from 7pm until around Midnight. Tickets cost £20, and include the entire evening and access to the vendor hall. Not too shabby for nine headline acts! The Convention is Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of August, opening 10am to 10pm. Tickets start from £45 for a day ticket (available at the end of June), with weekend tickets starting at £80. Tickets available online at www.buckcon.org/tickets With Mardi Gras happening over the same weekend, the entire city will be alive non-stop, so even after we close out doors for the night, the party continues all around town! How do I get there? BUCK is accessible via Train, Coach, Road, and by Air – whatever your transport method of choice is, it’s easy to get to Manchester! Head over to our website at www.buckcon.org to see all the sweet juicy details, the full guest list, the latest news, and the best way to keep up with our on-going announcements! Why choose BUCK? There’s a lot of MLP related conventions on the calendar… like, a lot… so why BUCK? Three years and over thirty independant conventions later, the Brony Convention formula is wearing thin. So we thought we’d mix it up a bit. Forget Q&A panels. Forget a school-hall shin-dig. We went all out on The Summer Sun Celebration last year, and it turned heads. So we’re making it even bigger. We found no one really had many good questions at Q&A panels, that hadn’t been answered at ten other conventions. So we got rid of them and we’re letting our guests show you what they do first hand, and how they do it. We saw that our attendees are interested more than just My Little Pony, so we’ve brought in attractions for all manner of creativity – all of them designed to help creatives and non-creatives alike involved in the fun! It’s time for a convention that’s more than just vendor tables and people sitting behind microphones! BUCK Towers, out!
  11. Is anyone else going to Buck in August? If you have already been last year or plan to go this year, tell me what it's like or what you hope for this year!
  12. I'm looking for some good conventions to go to, to keep myself occupied during the year. I've been to two this year. Manchester central comic convention and BUCK 2013. If anybody went to the summer sun celebration the day before the main BUCK convention that was in the same place as Manchester central comic convention. They were about 2 months apart so it gets quite lonely. Anyway, back to the point. Does anybody know if there are any happening early in 2014? I live in South Yorkshire, also it needs to be somewhere I can get using public transport... Train/bus ect...?
  13. I am DJ Zingiber, I DJ'd at BronyCon UK (BUCK) 2012/13 and hoping to DJ again at BronyCon UK 2014, if it happens (which it's probably going to.) AMA.
  14. BUCK 2013 is a Manchester-based convention scheduled to be held on 23rd-25th August, 2013, in the United Kingdom. This thread'll be designated to news about the event and general discussion for those who are/aren't going. I will attempt to update this post as frequently as possible with news on BUCK 2013 as it comes. Official BUCK 2013 Website Facebook Group for BUCK 2013 -------- Update 26/08/2013: Success! Well, everybody who went to this absolutely sensational convention can agree that it was a huge success! The entire weekend was a high-spirited conglomeration of us UK kind Brony souls having a totally fun awesome time. Songs were sung, panels were had, brohooves were shared, laughs were laughed and cosplays were flaunted - to name a few things! If you have any pictures or videos to show, or stories to tell, let loose in this thread! Alternatively, upload them to the Facebook group for BUCK 2013. I can't wait to blog about everything that went down Pre-Con News:
  15. This is my deersona (not my official fursona) I attempted to do this because a lot of artists on tumblr were starting this "deer drawing" trend X3. I know its not the best fursona and it was actually my first >///< please share your opinion please! Thank you
  16. Okay, so this is the first time I've attempted to colorize a drawing I've done. It's kind of sketchy and a little sloppy in some spots. Chrysalis' mane and tail kinda run into one another... not visually pleasing. Aj's body is a bit... twist I suppose. (And yes I took a little creative license and gave AJ some Battle-Hoof-- boot... things... seemed neat at the time) Of course and tips, comments, critiques, and compliments are welcome. Thanks for taking a look-see!
  17. Hey guys and gals. Don't know if this is the correct part of the forums to put this, or if this has already been asked. If so I am sorry. BUCK is almost here and me and couple friends have been looking up travel and hotel prices. However does anyone know/remember when the tickets were put on sale last year? Any information or a link to the information would be very helpful. Ciao ~Parsley
  18. MY LITTLE BRONIES! FUCKING CAPS LOCK PONY IN DA HAUS. DIDJA FUCKING MISS ME? SO I FOUND THIS FUCKING GEM OF A DIAMOND TODAY AND NO, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT FUCKING TOM. 19. Time Magazine says that Bill Clinton is a brony. Buck yea.
