  1. Hello, everypony anypony want to play a mlp version of Yugioh ! I'll make the cards so enjoy !
  2. I'm sure this thread has been posted multiple times, but I figured to give it a new kick start! Anypony here play MTG? What kinds of formats do you like to play? What's your favorite color (or color combination) to play? As for me, I like Commander, and my favorite color combo is UWR, or Jeskai/America. Hoping to chat Magic with anyone here!
  3. For the Yu-Gi-Oh players amongst us, what's your favorite type of summoning method, whether it be from the Main Deck or the Extra Deck? Standard, Level Up!, Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum or Link?
  4. So there have been plenty of shows, mostly anime, that are based on card games. Yu-Gi-Oh, Card Fight Vanguard, Bakugan, Digimon Season 3. But with the release of the MLP: CCG in 2013, should Hasbro have tried to promote it with it's own TV spinoff? Perhaps in the place of Equestria Girls? Picture it. A show in the style of Equestria Girls where the humans play the MLP: CCG, but the cast learn that the game is based off the denizens and events of a very real Equestria. Would a card game cartoon have helped expand the MLP fanbase and bring more succsess to the game? Or would it just have been a one season flop?
  5. This thread is for discussion of the game Heart of Crown. The great emperor suddenly passed away. There are seven successors! Who will save the empire from chaos? Heart of Crown is a deck-building card game. Each player starts with the same deck, but over the course of the game you will build up your deck with the aim of achieving ultimate victory: getting your princess on the throne. Each player starts with a deck containing meager holdings and unreliable followers. Start raising taxes from your territories to acquire more land and followers to make your deck stronger. When your deck is strong enough, it's time to back a princess! Once you back a princess, she'll come to your aid with her unique ability. However, when it comes to backing princesses, it's first-come, first-served. You've got to act before your rivals claim the princess that you want. Act fast, and aim for the coronation ceremony! The objective is to back one of the princesses and help them ascend to the throne to win the game. There is a physical card game version and Steam came out with a PC version. The profiles of the Princesses if anyone is interested in some lore background.
  6. Hi, some of you might know me, most of you don't. I'm a university student of Illustration and Visual Communication. I love all kinds of games and have a wide interest of little skills I like to pick up and try and use. I've really enjoyed my production classes and it's encouraged me to realistically attempt a long term goal of mine, develop a card game. Before I go on to giving details about the game and tell you how to get a free test copy sent to you I'll give you a little fun fact about this game. The main character design, The Overlord, was based on a plastic fork. I had a broken plastic fork on my table and thought it looked like a funny tall eared cat-thing so I drew it out and the card game followed. I still have that fork and use it as inspiration to finish this project. Weird, right? A Brief Game Description: "You and your demonic friends must appease your Overlord by offering tribute every day. You’re all sick of being on the bottom and agree to start collecting loot so that you can takeover the Overlord's position. Unfortunately, none of you can agree on who the next Overlord should be. Amass more loot then everyone else in order to overthrow the Overlord and take your rightful place on top. But getting greedy risks the rage of the current Overlord, who won’t go easy on any of you. So build your stash in secret, back-stab your friends and give as little as you can manage to the Overlord to stay out of trouble." Tribute to the Overlord is a bit of a deck building card game that pits players against each other and a common board enemy. There are 5 rounds; the situation and cards to deal with it change every turn. There are various strategies implemented to combat total RNG but the game should be able to be picked up and learned in half an hour or less. The game is targeted at player groups of about 4 or 5 but can physically be played with groups ranging from 2-6. Target age group is early 20's to early 30's but could be played comfortably ages 12+. I've been developing this table-top card game for awhile now and am nearly at a point in which I can test the game with outside peoples. This project has a few goals: To be a refined piece for my personal portfolio, Test myself in finishing such a comprehensive project, and get a tiny foothold in tabletop game development (I have other ideas I'd like to develop one day). The past few months I have been working on this on and off in between personal projects and working side jobs, school stuff and the occasional Poniverse thing. Most of the focus has been on the rules and gameplay up to this point. Now I'm dividing my time between game balancing and art. Now I'm looking for candidates to play-test this game and give feedback, help balance and find game loop-holes I may have missed. I'll be shipping out around 10 prototype copies of this game sometime in February (or thereabouts depending on how the next school semester fairs for me). These copies will be shipped out free to those living in the US. I currently will not be shipping elsewhere; but if you fill out the provided form you'll be sent updates on the game and be notified if I get an international thing going. I'm shipping these out for free in return for feedback, if you can't or don't plan on proving feedback or testing it for problems, don't bother signing up. If your interested in signing up to get a free alpha copy and helping this game become complete in it's design; please fill out this form here. Please note that this is NOT first come first serve, I'll be semi-selectively choosing candidates to test various bits. Also, as stated this is an ALPHA where the focus so far has been primarily on gameplay and functionality, the art is mostly wip or in a placeholder state right now. It is quite likely that it will be in a similar state when these copies are shipped as well. Meaning it may not be a pretty game, but it'll work. The Beta phase of the game is a ways off, but will have nearly completed art and enforce the necessary updates found in the alpha. If you agree to get updates on the form above then you may get sent a Beta copy. So don't worry if you arn't offered an Alpha. The ALPHA deck will be printed on heavy weight paper and laminated so they feel pretty high quality for prototypes. Alpha decks will most likely be in black and white because the focus is on game mechanics and balancing rules and cards. If your interested in this project or have questions feel free to talk to me about it. And again, if your interested in getting your hooves on an Alpha copy to test, fill out this form asap.
  7. My daughter Lana and I have developed this card game based on the My Little Pony movies produced by Hasbro. Suitable for ages 5 and up, it teaches basic math skills and strategy and is based on Star Fleet Missions produced by Task Force Games back in the 90s. The game currently consists of 40 cards and typically takes around 20 minutes to play. The cards can be printed on Avery #8859 Business Card stock. Instructions and cards can be downloaded here: I welcome your comments and hope you enjoy the game! -Chris
  8. Good evening Everypony! Sēkr here, with the newest project/obsession that I've had an absolute joy to work on these past couple days. This is a new card game idea that features Lamiaponies, Diamond dogs, tricky magic, and plenty of crystals. I wanted to show my game thus far, and get any feedback from the community. If you have any additional questions, don't be afraid to comment below or even PM me. I'll try update the OP as the game is polished, thanks to your many wonderful comments. An Important Note is that I’ve yet to make all of the mock-ups yet, and as such this game is still largely theory, having not been properly playtested. This will change in the coming hours, as I complete my supplies. Mock Up cards built! Alpha testing and balancing in progress! Many thanks in advance to anybody that actually takes the time to read through all of this Crystal Caves Game
  9. So I saw this on Equestria Daily. It appears to be a collectible card game that looks about as close to Pokémon as you can get. It looks cool as buck, but I doubt you could play it with anyone without buying another deck so the other person can use it, as this looks sketchy as a drug deal in Chinatown. Hopefully if this gets popular they'll make a digital version like Pokémon. Heres the link:
  10. I've noticed that ever since GenCon 2014 in august, the MLP CCG has sharply declined in popularity. The comic shop where I used to play the game got plenty of players, almost as many as the regular magic tournaments. Now no one shows up. And I believe the gencon event found the major flaws in the game. There's basically two ways to win. Rush strategy, where you move characters around rather fast in conjunction with stronger characters for a group win. Or a control strategy, where you prevent your opponent from doing what is needed to succeed. These make them game predictable, and in the case of the latter strategy, not fun to play if you're on the receiving end. Since your opponent is controlling how many tokens you spend, where your characters go or stay or even if they stay on the field or which cards you draw, you are essentially no longer playing the game, and it ceases to be fun. What do you guys think? Is the game broken? Was the MLP CCG destined to be a fad? What can be done to make the game popular again?
  11. Hi I was wondering if the MLP card game is worth playing.
  12. Testing a CCG's cards with sticky notes isn't as hard as you'd think. All you have to do is write the info on the sticky notes, sometimes using two, and you're good! At least, I am. I got my Uno cards, I got my pen and felt tip pens, I got my sticky notes, I got my tape (to keep the sticky notes from coming off) and I got my computer with my Deckbuilding document open! (I set this up so you guys could see what I'm doing :3 I actually make these sitting in my chair, not on the floor ) That's why I need tape. :3 And I messed up on that one up top But, waste not, want not~~ (Especially since I lost my other set of sticky notes) And this is the whole shebang! (That's a digital keyboard resting on its box in the background, in case you're wondering. Also, the rug is Pooh.) FOOVILLE: THE ULTIMATE PIGGY CCG COMING A LONG TIME FROM NOW Let the foo-ntastic games begin...
  13. While I was hanging around my local game shop, a friend of mine challenge me to a game of Cardfight!! Vanguard (it’s a new trading card game from Japan). So I accepted and we started playing, to make a long story short he played with a custom deck which was not official (he was playing a Megaman deck). After the match I got thinking... if he can make his own custom deck with Megaman... I surely can make my own deck with PONIES!!! But with the show and life I don’t have much time to make a full deck... so all I’ve come with is just one card... and it’s not even 100% done. But if you all like the idea and get me all motivated, I’ll try and finish one deck
  14. <-- Could think of nothing else, so decided, eh, why not. Generic but epic Discord image FTW. Once upon a time, when I was twelve or thirteen, I got my mom to subscribe to an offer we got in the mail. The offer was titled Weird n Wild Creatures, and showed examples of some of the card types. Being fascinated with such sweet looking things, they caught my interest completely. Something like $10.99 or something a month to get several cards every week of that month. Or every other week. I don't even remember </3 Anyway, after numerous months of impatient waiting and collecting, I obtained all the cards. Seven categories, 102 cards in each category. The categories went as follows: Monsters of the Past (red): Dinosaurs. Everything from the terrifying T-Rex to the Megalodon, the Great White Shark's great great grandfather whom was the size of a blue whale, are in this category. Nightmares of Nature (green): Dangerous or incredible creatures that walked the land. To name a few, the Anaconda, Tasmanian Devil, Goliath Bird-Eating Spider, etc. Toxic Terrors (pink): If it's poisonous and dangerous to even humans, it goes in this category. This category, as you can imagine, is mostly populated by spiders like the Black Widow and snakes like the King Cobra. Toxic species of scorpions, jellyfish, frogs, etc as well. Monsters of the Deep (blue): The ocean. Freaky fish, ferocious sharks, and everything else that makes you ocean so terrifying when it's at its worst. Tiny Terrors (orange): Bugs. Freaky, creepy, weird, dangerous, whatever. Everything from beetles to tapeworms, to stick bugs and horseflies. Strange Wonders (turquoise): Everything bizarre, unique and interesting that doesn't fit into the other categories, really. The flying squirrel, giant anteater, frilled lizard, etc. Monsters of the Mind (purple): My personal favorite category. Mythology and Cryptozoology alike are in this category, with everything from Bigfoot and the Lock Ness Monster, to the Hydra and Sphinx. This category was 70% of my drive for collecting this series, I think XD I adore mythology. You have no idea :U -- Image Gallery, Everypony: AND BE SURE TO CLICK THEM, FOR FULL-VIEW! I've gone through the liberty of scanning the front and back of a single card from each of the seven categories. There's a shitton of information on each of these cards, so who knows, read through all of these front and back and I'm sure you may learn something you didn't know before. Enjoy, and expect some closing ramblings at the end =D Monsters of the Past: Sarcosuchus Nightmares of Nature: Tailless Whip Scorpions Toxic Terrors: Blue-Ringed Octopus Monsters of the Deep: Black Dragonfish Tiny Terrors: Giant Orb Spider Strange Wonders: Horseshoe Crabs Monsters of the Mind: Basilisk -- Just a few ending notes: -The Basilisk and Cockatrice are one and the same mythological creature, practically. The Basilisk was said to be the 'King of the Serpents', and was depicted as a gigantic snake *like in Harry Potter*, as well as it's natural dragon chicken form. Later down the line, Europeans came up with the name 'Cockatrice' for the beast, as the myth evolved to the chicken form, only. Just for folks who were wondering. -If you haven't noticed by now, my own personal pony bios about the main trio of villains, the main royals, and the Mane Six who I have yet to make, are loosely based around the front setup of these cards ^^ -Thanks for reading everypony. Please brohoof, comment and or follow my blog if you enjoyed this :3
