Whats this, Unmerry made a topic. No, it cannot be. It shouldn't be. It mustn't be. I isn't be...wait that doesn't work. Well, I should make at least one topic at some point, eh. So, it might as well be one to kill some time and be fun. There been alot of raging at twilicorn, "I'm brony but I'm not a brony", derpy hooves, politics and various other topics and talks that I think I should contribute a little something to make the atmosphere a little less tense. Now. Basically this is a thread where you pick out a fictional character that you think resembles you or at least resembles qualities that you admire or relate too very well. The character can be from MLP, anime, cartoons, obscure movies or comics-WHATEVER, as long as they are fictional. You may use up to 3 characters if you so chose but bonus points if you can find one character that you would want to stick with that describes you or at least strongly relates to you in some way, the reasons you pick them can be deep and dear to you or around basic trivialities like you both enjoying cold baths and hating the smell of perfume. There is no word requirement. Pictures and videos are encouraged of your character to give us an example of who they are but you can keep it bare basic. Hell, if you feel you can say what you need in a line or two, go for it. I shall go first: My character that I think resembles me and the qualities I relate would have to be Arakune: Arakune: Arakune or rather Carmine, is an blob of unknown super natural liquid that hosts itself to the bodies of a thousands insects both foreign and strange to the known and mundane, it also utilizes them as a defense and in fact display the ability to control them if he can magically curse his enemies. Capable of total morphic abilities to the point hardening and softening along with the gift of teleportation and producing extra skeletal limbs out of nothing. Originally a scientist working under a genius and gifted master he became obsessed with the azure and his fixation on it led him to crossing the boundry-the after life- the result is that his body and mind have totally eroded. Arakune insanity knows very little bounds to the point that his memory has been shattered, forgetting face and names or places and when he recalls them it is common for him to forget important facts to it later. His obsession of the Azure has totally eaten his focus along with his random mood swings of mania and he expresses his release by screams and laughter mostly. Marginally unable to communicate due to Word salading-where insanity cause incoherent speech patterns- to a point that it literally slices chunks out of his words although unlike word salading he clearly understands the word he is using and is using them in correct order...though he still makes little sense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKskRQiLesc "Mister unmerry. Why would you make a crazy blob your choice?"-random audience member. I tell you why. We both are something that should of eroded away years ago due to our own vices, those who are effected with sethir tend to just melt away but Arakune moves about and master his condition, the fact he can even retain some sort of worldly presence is a triumph. Like Arakune, I am haunted by my personal demons, most of them are of my making and some are cobbled from my sins which is once again me by proxy. I shift moods alot and lash out at other because I forget who my friends are, just as arakune forgets those who care about him even when staring him in the face. Arakune reminds me what I could be if I lose myself and he shows me what I AM when I fall into bad patterns...albeit a much more extreme version. But he is determined, insanity conjured or not its that kind of determination that will get you places even when every one else-as they do to arakune in blazblue- is telling each other and you that you are rotten, a lost cause or a worthless pile of trash despite relationships. Arakune exhibits traits in a way I want, granted those are few but they are there. He also exhibit traits I must accept and avoid or I am no better than him in a lot of ways. -wer both really hard and press ourselves to get something, rushing and not looking to see what it does to us. -we both laugh alot constantly to let loose steam. -We both set our betters against us rather than admitting their skill and learning from them (especially when I meet artist that are younger than me but are miles better....which is alot because I'm a generic artist at best although I only do this when I'm at my worst) -We both get really paranoid and get convinced everyone around us is there to cause some sort of harm emotional or otherwise at times. -We both see things we probably shouldn't, sometimes we wish we hadn't and it changes us...he reminds me that I shouldn't let it change me into what he has become. He reminds me that I can't let it turn me into a monster and if it does that I must continue on with my life and make the best out of what I am none the less, even if it seem hopeless to do so. Arakune is sort of a post me, the next step of a failed me in a way but that doesn't change the fact him and I are more alike than I would appreciate to admit. Arakune is my only submission, I won't be using my 3 max.

Movies/TV Good shows that have bad opening themes/ending themes (and vice versa)
posted a topic in Media Discussion
What are some shows (sitcoms and other non-animated shows included) or anime that you personally like (or love), but have bad, repetitive, annoying, or just non-catchy theme songs? As a follow-up, what are some bad/mediocre shows that have good theme songs? For the first question I'd have to say Star vs. the Forces of Evil. The show is amazing, and I absolutely love it, but I could never really get into the theme. It mostly just lacks a good bass instrument, and also just missing instruments in general. If you listen, you can only really hear about 2 instruments excluding the drums. As for the second, I unfortunately have to say the anime "Gyakuten Saiban: Sono Shinjitsu, Igiari!" (Turnabout Trial: I object to the truth!). The 2 opening themes are great, amazing almost, but the anime was... average at best. The animation is very bad at times, and it does not really stay true to the game that much. -
Any brony here into Looney Tunes? I love watching these in the mornings on Youtube, to remember the old age of cartoons. If you do, who's your favorite character? Of course my favorite would have to be the most famous rabbit in television, the one and only, Bugs Bunny!!! Second favorite is Daffy Duck, cause he needs some love too!! Of the secondary characters my favorite is Pepe Le Pew. I don't know what I love so much about him, maybe he's French, and he has a charming accent. His cartoons always make me laugh. I always feel sorry for Penelope though, getting stalked like that. Second favorite of the secondary characters, TWEETY BIRD!! Tweety used to be my favorite, until Pepe swept me off my feet. BUT THIS BIRD'S JUST SO DAMN CUTE!!! So what do you guys think? Agree or disagree? Who are your favorites?

What the title says. Besides MLP I also really liked LoliRocks and Miraculous Ladybug. They were almost as much fun as watching My Little Pony
-
I have a feeling that plenty of people have asked this before but do you find that cartoons are improving or becoming worse as the years pass? You can count animated movies or animated television series. I want to hear what you think. Are cartoons getting better or worse. Please do give a well written description on why you think that way about your choice.

Do you think that boomerang sucks now. I think so because all theyve been showing for months is chowder and the Garfield show(God I hate that show) and they had a recent rebrand that is too similar to Cartoon Networks check it look. Also, WHERE ARE ALL THE CLASSIC HANNA BARBERA CARTOONS!!!!!!!!! Tell me what you think.

Hey everybody I know were all bronies here, and pegasisters but I know that even though I am adult I still love cartoons, my favorite before MLP was Avatar the Last Airbender and I will definitely recommend this show to anyone who watches cartoons. Out of curiousity I was wondering what other cartoons my fellow bronies enjoy it doesn't have to be your number 1 favorite just a cartoon or toons you enjoy in general
-
What show have you enjoyed so much that you watched it (all seasons) twice or more? I've watched Avatar: The Last Airbender twice, The Powerpuff Girls twice and the original Astro Boy series twice.

Ok, so last year after everyone freaked out about equestria girls I decided to take a peek at it once the dust settled. It was weird and I felt like it was a pretty generic kid's movie lacking the charm the regular MLP:FIM show had to save it from being more than that (except for the scenes with ponies). There was one thing that stood out, though. It was freaking Vice Principal Luna. Holy...Crap. THIS: Seeing this absolutely haunted me. Why? Because she looks freakishly similar to my mom. Her general hair style (should be shorter and blonde), her body shape, her facial structure, it all just immediately reminded me of my mom. Now I can't look at pony Luna the same any more! Hey, maybe my ponysona is Luna's non-cannon son? No? Ok, I'll shut up... *looks at mirror and screams* AND I LOOK LIKE SHAGGY! Why? Is that why cops keep pulling me over for suspected possession of weed? I am certain you guys have stories where you were walking along and saw someone who looked freakishly similar to a cartoon character. Maybe you know a person who looks like a cartoon character. Hell, maybe YOU look like a cartoon character! What's your favorite cartoon lookalike story/stories?

I wasn't sure where to put this, but it is somewhat mlp related, so I'll just put it here for now. Anyways, the reason I chose the number 130, is because of this: The "magic" number for episodes for kids cartoons is 65. Which is the amount of episodes that MLP will have once season 3 is over. Season 4 of MLP is not 100% confirmed, however, it seems very likely, considering its popularity. If there is a Season 4, that means the show will have officially past the 65 episode mark. So that means there would be a possibility of another 65 episodes, which would be a total of 130 episodes, which would be a lot. I somewhat doubt that there could be a third set of 65 episodes but it is possible.(that would be a whopping 195 episodes!) So, this is how I fantasize the episodes of the series turn out: We already know this: Season 1 has 26 episodes Season 2 has 26 episodes Season 3 has 13 episodes And like I've said before, this gives us a total of 65 episodes. My fantasy is that this pattern would continue for another 3 seasons: Season 4- 26 episodes Season 5- 26 episodes Season 6- 13 episodes This would be a total of 130 episodes Than, we would finish it off with an epic tv movie finale! (I say "tv" movie, because there is NO way it would become theatrical) I don't think this is incredibly likely. but maybe I'm wrong. Do you think it's likely? Do you think it's a good idea? Oh, and back to the original question. If you know of a cartoon which has finished with EXACTLY 130 episodes, please let me know.

Hi guys! What are your favorite cartoon(s) now? What were your favorites as a kid? As a kid: Pokémon. Yes I am a girl, but I really liked this show. Not only that, but I adored the video games and the toys. I was kinda obsessed until 6th grade when I lost interest. Just out of curiosity: what is your favorite Pokémon(s)? (If you love the franchise, that is). Now: None other than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Those cute little ponies drew me in as well as the fantasy elements and the world building. I have been a fan since 2012 and I'm still going strong!(: Note: Anime counts too!

You can name up to 10 cartoon shows. or they don't even have to be cartoon they can be kid shows. for ex: icarly, spongebob etc. Here is some bad cartoon/kid shows. not in any order. 1) Mad (kid friendly version) To be honest, this one has bad animation bad/immature jokes and it just straight out annoys me, and it seems they only take 5 mins to make the show. 2) Out of jimmys head- This show.... Well this show only aired for like a month, and its stupid how a kid just dreams of some really stupid animals, and just plain annoying. 3) Ben 10 - the whole plot of the show is kinda stupid, some boy that has a watch that can change into 10 superhero characters? its kinda like copying Danny Phantom. 4)Dude, what would happen -Well, this show isn't for kids, it just might inspire them to just like destroy a car and try to make a airplane out of it. 5)Ningago- i think the whole set up, everything about this show is stupid. 6)Level Up- I Really don't get whats so cool about some teens playing a online game. 7)My dad the rockstar- bad everything. the animation, storyline, acting, etc. 8) Hannah montana - I Mean really, your just going to want to make kids want to be a rockstar, then they realize they can't be one then they cry. 9)All Grown Up- They like turn from babies to teens? like in 2 years? Sorry the show isn't the best, i dont like the plot of it, they should have kept rugrats going. 10)True Jackson V.P.- Can't relate to it, Nothing good about it, just plain eh. If you respect my opinions, i'll respect yours.

When I was younger(mid 1990s), my life was centered around cartoons like The Animaniacs and Hey Arnold. They were fresh, new, and just clean fun. Nowadays (with the exception of MLP of course), most cartoons are just a random pileup of characters, talking in almost gibberish. And the language has gotten worse on Cartoon Network shows. I may just be old-fashioned, but I get a huge hit of nostalgia when I see a clip of The Angry Beavers. Do any of you guys have that too? And if so, what shows do you miss?
-
Like some people, I’ve had an unprecedented amount of alone time this year, so I had an excuse to catch up on things I hadn’t watched before, as well as shows that were currently airing. I watched the following: The Legend of Korra The Dragon Prince Bojack Horseman The Good Place Carmen Sandiego Infinity Train Death Note The Owl House Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts What have you watched this year, if anything?
-
Some of the stuff that people get away with is crazy. I have a history of being suicidal and attempting and today I was watching one of the newer episodes of Spongebob. In this episode Squidward was getting really depressed because he had no happiest memory. At one point he gets on top of a stool with a rope and says "since I'm so depressed I only have one thing left to do." Then he proceeds to tie the rope on top of the ceiling and instead of hanging himself he was putting up a bird cage. This really rustled my jimmies. I mean REALLY rustled my jimmies. Then again I'm just being a little over reactive. What do you guys think about the content allowed in modern kids shows?
-
Since we have a movie thread and a music and a video game thread on this topic, I think it's about time to get to animated shows. They've seen quite the renaissance that's lasted throughout this decade and resulted in some great shows being produced (and also ending in most cases) in that time. So what are your favorites of the bunch? I would say this would be roughly my top 5: Steven Universe Rick and Morty BoJack Horseman Over the Garden Wall Gravity Falls Honorable Mentions to: We Bare Bears, MLP: FiM, Infinity Train, and Adventure Time. Of course not counting Hazbin Hotel in this list because, it only has one episode as of this point. And I also didn't include anime, though I don't watch much anime so it wouldn't make much of a difference.
-
Well, other than the absolute obvious. I've loved cartoons all my life, waking up Saturday morning, watching cartoons with some cereal just makes me forget about everything else. So tell me, What's some of your favorite cartoons?
-
I know this may be weird of me to ask but can there be any show that can best mlp, well mlp is my 2nd favourite cartoon at the moment, because to me Gravity Falls beats it for me, not to be mean or rude to the show or anything but is it possible for a cartoon to best mlp to you, I am probably the only one on this site that likes a show more than mlp.

Movies/TV Anyone seen/watched Trulli Tales, the Nick Jr. cartoon?
posted a topic in Media Discussion
Trulli Tales is a cartoon about four wizard chefs who cook. They get their recipes from Trulli Grandma's magic cookbook. Copperpot, the villain, always tries to take the magic cookbook. The wizard chefs' names are Ring, Zip, Stella, and Sun. They have multiple cooking instructors (professors, maybe I should say). The network varies by country... but I'll provide some information on current and former networks. But first, I'll go back to the series' origins. The original title while it was first in production was "Trullalleri". That was the original, I guess you could say, alpha or early beta title for the series. The articles published (in 2014) that mention the original title are in Italian, which indicates that the idea for the series was created (by Italians) and/or (in Italy). The earliest article that uses the current title, Trulli Tales, was published in English in 2015. Also, note that, in Quebec (Canada), the "Trullalleri" title is still used for the Canadian French dub... in France, however, it's called Trulli Tales just like in the English-speaking world and Italy. Another thing I'd like to add too, is the original language for the series is/was English, but it was/is dubbed into Canadian French, European French, and Italian. Also, the first network to air the series in 2017 was a Brazilian TV network, Gloobinho. And according to the credits, it was produced by the Italian public broadcaster, Gloobinho in Brazil, Disney networks Europe, and multiple French and Canadian production companies. And I'd like to add also, that according to an article published in 2015, it was scheduled to air in 2016, so it must have not been completed by then. Now, anyway, I'll provide more info on networks here. If possible, if I'm not busy, I might try to update you on what networks are currently airing the series too. I'll probably try to focus the most on Nick Jr., though, since they've been airing the series on-and-off, and they're a U.S. network, and the U.S. is where I live. Gloobinho Brazil (2017-present) RAI Italy (public broadcaster) (2017-present) Disney Junior EU (2017-late 2018) Disney Junior UK and Ireland (2017 or early 2018-late 2018) Tiny Pop (UK) (January 2019-present) Nick Jr. (U.S. and Latin America) (October 2019-March 2020; April 2020-June 2020; unknown if it'll air or be reran again; I'm assuming the reason they even started airing it and rerunning it again in the U.S. in the first place was because I requested them to air it again.) Prime (New Zealand TV network) (Part of morning TV schedule) (unknown date-recent date in 2020; unknown if it'll air again.)-

Recently I have been watching this girls show called 'Ever After High', and it is surprisingly good. It's pretty girly (overly so, at some points), obviously, but it wasn't half bad, I suggest you check it out. It's got an actual story and the main characters are likable with good voice acting. On the negative side, a lot of the jokes are lame, but I think this show has enough charms to be worth a watch. Out of the characters I would rather the boys and especially the animal characters had less screen-time. If you can stand the overwhelmingly girly-ness, it's a decent show.

Why Steven Universe is the BEST Cartoon EVER MADE
Here No Longer posted a blog entry in Dusky's Blog About Random Stuff
Since the top 20 list wasn't, well... very well-explained, I plan to make a new list soon. But, for now I'll talk about one specific show and what it does so well. That show being? Steven Universe. In my opinion, Steven Universe is just one of the shows I could count on one hand that ascends above everything else that has EVER come on TV. No matter how much I hate the fandom (it's NOT okay to tell people to kill themselves over a piece of fanart or to attack a kid DYING OF CANCER over the fact he got to watch episodes early before he DIED *cough cough* AwestruckVox *cough cough), no matter how much BS there is around about the show having a "liberal agenda" (it doesn't, if you really watched the show without trying to get offended by it, you'd understand it applies to everyone and works for everyone regardless of political stance), and no matter if it messed up a few episodes (I can admit that), I can't stop LOVING this show. Yes, I do think that the first season was downright ATROCIOUS, but after that point, it recovered quite well from it's mistakes and really turned itself around. It went from a show I couldn't stand to a masterpiece of a show that even at it's most disappointing, is far from a bad show. Here's just a couple of reasons why this show is just so amazing. THE CHARACTERS When I watched Season 1, I hated EVERYONE in the show. They were all annoying, one-dimensional wrecks (particularly Steven and Garnet... Ugh). But now, I don't even find RONALDO irritating, and he's a character that's always considered annoying by the animation community as a whole. I can't blame them, but he's even improved to the point I don't cringe when he/s on screen anymore... As for everyone else... Well, I'll give you the three best examples. Steven went from being immature and downright annoying to being mature almost beyond his father's years. He's really shown that he has a heart of, well, solid diamond of a sizeable carat. Gold is FAR from appropriate. Steven has an ability to just humanize ANYONE. To be able to really get to literally anyone on a deep emotional level. Heck, one great scene of his involves him destroying a weapon Bismuth MADE for him because he wasn't out to destroy gems, but instead to speak out to them, to teach them of tolerance and of kindness. I really can't believe it. They really went out of the park with him. From, I swear, giving me ANEURYSMS to being the absolute nicest, sweetest kid in... well, anything ever. Pearl went from a b**** with a serious nagging issue, to a character with more depth than I could possibly have imagined. She apparently was in love with Rose Quartz, was hiding a secret of hers for over 5000 years (one with DIRE consequences mind you), and has shown a level of concern and care for Steven that wouldn't even be expected out of the best of mothers. She also has been struggling with plenty of her own demons for the longest time. When Steven got into her mind, you really got to see what she has on her mind all the time. On the exterior is the organized clean freak we know her to be, but underneath lies a hidden depression, comprised of thousands of years of sorrow. I could go on, but Pearl's insanely deep even for a Steven Universe character, and that says something because they all have an amount of depth I've never seen anywhere else. Garnet went from being a complete f***ing buzzkill to being literally the best LGBT representation in ALL of media, period, and among the absolute best cartoon characters EVER devised. Garnet really shows the beauty of love, regardless of who it's between. Ruby and Sapphire (the two gems that fuse to create Garnet) are absolutely the most adorable couple I've ever seen. The two, well, women also offer up their own characters to the mix, really creating an interesting sort of split personality within Garnet that occasionally manifests itself. A part of her is insightful and mature, while another part of her is energetic and almost childlike in a very charming way. They literally fused out of love, and they've stayed fused for most of almost 6000 years! That's true love, if I've ever known it. True dedication to each other and to their fusion. She, well, they are just such a great way to represent the community as a whole. I could never ask for such. It's also a huge plus that they're "marriage" was the most adorable thing I've ever witnessed in all of animation... Garnet is really a show of how strong the bond of love can be, and an impressive one at that. THE MESSAGE I also love the message of the series as a whole, which I would say is that we should let everyone be who they are, regardless of any standards we may place on them. That we should accept people's expressions of themselves. If you hate the show for having a message like that, well you're offended and you more than deserve to be... Seriously, this show is beyond insightful and if you decide not to see that because you don't like it, you have a problem not the show. There is so MUCH to get out of this masterpiece of a show. There is a lot about individuality, a lot about abusing power, and a lot about the importance of the connections we have with others, among a lot about other things as well. Seriously, there's just so many good things this show could teach EVERYONE that listing them would take far too long. All I'm saying is, this show is deep and thought-provoking with messages that can apply to literally anyone, regardless of who they happen to be. This show is a show for everyone, young or old, conservative or progressive, male or female, white or black, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity... I can't recommend it enough. Though I also can't recommend skipping the first season enough either. There are a few key episodes that should be seen to start with, but this is more about how good the show is and not anything else. This show is a phenomenal show. It's even more than just a show... It's an experience, and it's one heck of an experience. It's one that I think every single fan of animation should give a try, and a real try not just make some pointless 30-45 minute videos trying to criticize it's animation style that don't really go anywhere and prove more or less you're trying to hate the show as hard as you possibly can (I've seen more than one of those ...). All I ask to people who do that s*** is to really give the show a shot before they start bashing it. Maybe you can see the same thing I do in it. -
Since there's already a thread for movies, here's one for animation. What are you looking forward to this year in the realm of animation? Personally I'm looking forward to Long Lost Gulch, Hazbin Hotel, Infinity Train and Toy Story 4, though I'm holding out hope for JG Quintel's Close Enough to maybe start airing this year, but I don't think that's going to happen...
