  1. Hey, I'm just curious to see how international this forum is! I'm from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but I now live in a small town in Denmark called Vejle! You don't have to mention the city if you don't want to, just the country will do!
  2. I searched, but I didn't find any.. So basically, what countries have you visited? (If you live in the U.S, states count, too!) I've been to Latvia like 3 times. I haven't really 'visited' it, but I've driven through Lithuania. I stayed at Poland for a night once. I've also been to the Czech Republic, I really liked being there. Austria is one of my favorite countries I visited: It was so great, and the Alps or whatever they're called were breathtaking. I stayed in Italy for a week, and it was an amazing experience! I've been to Germany in 2012. It's the 2nd favorite country I visited, I really enjoyed my trip there. I've been to Finland quite a few times; all of my trips were only for one day, though. (Cruise ship from Estonia to Finland in the morning, ship from Finland back to Estonia in the evening). I also been to Sweden, but for one day, too. The ship trip to Sweden itself was longer than the time we stayed there.. This year, I'm going to either Austria or Switzerland. I can't wait! So, what countries have you visited? edit: I forgot! Vatican City and San Marino!
  3. What languages do you know or learn except English and why are you learning them? I know French and I'm learning Russian and German. I'm learning Russian because a lot of people speak it and I also like the culture, food, language, music, etc. of Russia. As for German I just like the language and it's also a popular language. I also like learning new languages it's very interesting and fun to me.
  4. Alright guys. Let's have some fun. How many countries have you ever been to in your life? Better yet, list the ones you visited! I'll start: Australia: Melbourne Indonesia: Jakarta, Bali Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur Singapore: Singapore The Netherlands: Amsterdam China: Beijing Hong Kong: Hong Kong Canada: Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Peterborough, Kingston, Brantford, Hamilton, Halifax (next month! :3) USA: Houston I wish I could travel to more places, but I haven't unfortunately. Can you do better? And yes, the country you live in counts! ANOTHER BONUS: Write the city name you visited!
  5. Hello, everyone! I was debating whether I should do this topic, and decided I should. So I was just wondering, are there any countries you want to visit? I have quite a few of them, and they are the following: The Philippines (based on everything I've read about the country, as well as the pictures of it I've seen, it seems like a beautiful country, and I'd love to visit many of its landmarks and try a lot of the food there. I also have lots of friends from the country) Thailand (I actually went to Thailand when I was younger, kinda wanted to visit again for some reason) Japan (I'll admit it is mainly because of Japanese pop culture, but I do also want to visit some of its many landmarks, and learn more about the country) South Korea (pretty much the same reasons as Japan) United Kingdom (not sure why, I kinda just do!) Sweden (again, I'm not really sure) Poland (For some reason, I've started being interested in Poland) The Netherlands (my dad's side of the family is from there) New Zealand (my mum's side of the family is from there) United States (mainly for the pop culture, as well as some landmarks) Canada (again, not really sure why, I kinda just do) Mexico (forgot to mention this one, but, I'd love to try more Mexican foods, besides the usual tacos, burritos, etc...) China (it does seem like an interesting country, and considering the kind of influence it seems to be gaining in the world, I'd like to visit it)
  6. So, what is the coolest or funnest place you have traveled to? What made it fun? My favorite trip was going to Chicago. I went there on a school trip and hung out with my best friends all day. I even faced my fear of heights in the Willis Tower. So, what was your favorite place to go?
  7. I guess this kinda isn't important, but I've been wondering this ever since the episode where the Crystal Empire reappeared : is the Crystal Empire part of Celestia's kingdom, or is its own country. Come to think of it, are places like Saddle Arabia, and where ever the Griffins are from part of it too? Or are they like satalitte states, or providences, or completely independant nations? They all appeared at the Equestria Games but they competed alongside single cities that are for sure part of Equestria, like Ponyville and Cloudsdale. This makes me think that they're all part of Equestria. However, I'm thinking the Griffins and Saddle Arabia could be there own nations, since Celestia had to meet with ambassadors from SA, and the Griffens seem pretty far away from the rest of Equestria, but the line is blurred for the Crystal Empire. Celestia sent Cadance and Shining Armor to rule the Crysal Empire, which makes me think its a satalitte state or part of Equestria, but the title "Crystal Empire" implies its a soverign nation, or at least a city state. Plus Cadance and Shining Armor rule it; if it were part of Equestria it would all belong to Celestia. But I want to know what other people think.
  8. Here's a challenge. Name one band or musical artist for every letter of the alphabet. The catch is, each band has to be from a different country. Can't use the same one twice. Say you use ABBA. Sweden's off the list. Black Sabbath? There goes the U.K. Cavelera Conspiracy? Well their half American, half Brazilian, so they'll count for either. Let's see if we can nail every country. or at least name 26 bands from 26 different nations in alphabetical order. Ready? Go.
  9. English is my first language, but i'm currently learning Japanese (If you count not learning or practicing for a couple months still 'learning' anyway) But I've got some free time now, and during summer I'll have a lot then too, so hopefully i'll pick it back up then. What about you guys? Which ones and how many can you speak?
  10. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? The top places in my head are definitely Paris, Venice, Rome, Frankfurt Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Tokyo, China etc. But if there's one place abroad I feel I could possibly even live in, it's this gorgeous city's absolutely breathtaking and I wish I could be there myself and have my own little house where I could wake up every morning to a gorgeous sunrise overlooking the multitude of vineyards, and get to see the fiery sunset every evening over the rolling green hills So what about you guys? Where would you visit?
  11. I know the show has had puns for places like 'Mane' Hatten, but what about countries? We've heard 'saddle' arabia, and i think i saw ger'mane'y and one point, dunno if it was fan-created or not though, and ofcourse, america would be a'mare'ica, but i'm having trouble thinking of any for countries like Japan and Italy and such, so have you got any good country-specific pony puns?
  12. Out of all the places in the world if you were given the option where would you like to live? For me I would really like to live in Charleston, SC I and I went there for my senior trip had a blast as well. As for out of the country I'd definitely move to Puerto Rico but given its crime its sad how the island has come to be in recent years. Such a beautiful place ruined by crime sadly. I'd eventually love to visit Australia too its another place that I'd like to stay at for a time. So is there any places any of you would like to live at or visit?
  13. I was thinking that we should make a banner for the site to have up for the entire duration of the Olympics featuring the flags of every country we have users from. Although the challenge will be finding out exactly every country (unless the admins have a handy dandy list they can access). I think it would be a cool thing to have.
  14. Okay, I am rather desperate to emigrate from my country, but to where should I immigrate? I don't want to go through the trouble and expenses to leave this bleep country only to end up in one just as bad. No comment on where I am from. At the moment, the countries I am considering are Sweden, Australia, and Japan. At the moment, Sweden is my favorite choice and Australia is my husband's favorite choice. Japan is an option because it would be the quickest & easiest for us to immigrate there. I am worried about their political situation and economic stability, though. Japan is also the only country listed above that I have traveled to, and I have a number of good friends who live there. I am also most familiar with Japan's language and culture than I am the others. I am quick to learn foreign languages, so a country that does not speak English would be no problem for me. My husband, though, feels much much much more comfortable with places that are already predominantly English speaking. Topics that are very important to me that I am looking for are: 1) Peaceful foreign policy 2) Egalitarian society (females being equal with males and not punished for being inherently female, religions not being persecuted nor part of the ruling) 3) Non-crazy non-corrupt judicial system I have a degree and my major is Foreign Language & International Trade. When my husband graduates, he will have a degree in Computer Engineering. I consider mentioning our education relevant in that we would be "educated immigrants." From the research I have done, for most of these countries we could enter on a work visa. I have researched each country's immigrant policy according to their own government websites. If any of you have any relevant information about the countries listed, please give me a detailed list of pros and cons. Crime rate and frequency/type of natural disasters are also a factor I'd like to include. Also, for whatever country you are recommending, please state "safe areas" to live and also "not safe never live here" areas to make sure we avoid. Thank you everypony!
