  1. Let me start off by saying that I have nothing wrong with Rainbow Dash and as a matter of fact I own socks and a shirt that have RD on it! I just have noticed that when I go shopping for pony merchandise, from mainstream stores, it seems like she dominates the adult clothing market. From shirts, to jackets, socks and jewelry, I have found it difficult to find any other mane six character in adult sizing. Now Etsy has a nice selection though, because they're handmade the prices are a bit high, but even then pickings are slim for other characters. Why do you think she seemingly dominates the adult market? Also have you found it as difficult as I have to find plus size, adult pony merch? Am I asking for the moon? Are you finding other mane six clothing and accessories somewhere that I haven't looked? Please share if so!
  2. My little pony should have a new main character: Rainbow Dash, the most awesome pony ever! Twilight Sparkle could still be a main character too, as the primary love interest of our beloved hero! The other ponies would be important friends and sidekicks, as she went on her adventures flying across equestria, and beyond. It could be a more 'cool', adventurous type show! Fast air chases, getting stranded, fighting off bad guys, ect! Vinyl scratch could be involved too. Secretly, she is desperately in love in rainbow dash, and tries to get noticed by playing cool music! Derring do could be like the de facto leader, guiding them to interesting places where help was needed What do you guys think? Isn't it a great idea?

  4. I am accepting feedback, how do you guys like it?
  5. I just finished this piece the other day and I know the clouds are sort of at a strange angle but my hand is sore so I'll fix it later. But what do you guys think about the picture in general? I'll take the cruelest criticism you can muster, as long as it's constructive and makes sense! I tried to make the sky a little more realistic, and I was trying out a new shading style on the ponies. It was originally slightly blurred, but I changed it to be plain cel shading because apparently it looked weird the other way? It's my dream to be a vendor at a convention in the future, and I'd like to know if this would make a good print. Thoughts?

Fanfic can be read here: Preview: So basicly this fanfic is about a closet brony who dosent really cares about life anymore. He talks about how he once wanted to change the world into a beautifull place but he gave up once his parent died. And one day he finds a carton box. And this box is just about to change his life. _____________________________________________________________________________________ If you have read this fanfic what do you think of it? How did you react on it? This is a fanfic for those who loves beautiful storys and are ready to cry me a river. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Basicly this story made me cry like never before. You might think that i over do it but i dont really care since this it was i think and belive :3 And also, dont hate me for making this. If there are a simulary thread i whould gladly remove this one.

    Rainbow Factory Review

So Im back after a week off and there has been a change of plans. Instead of reviewing Frozen like I was supposed to last week I'll review Rainbow Factory instead, my current situation does not allow me to get the movie at this time. To make up for it Im going to make two reviews next week, one Frozen and the other can be a request. Enough of that, lets get into this. If you've been in this fandom for any length of time you probably heard of this one, if you haven't there is a problem. I consider it to be in the 'big three' fan fics that everyone knows, and its one of my personal favorites. The story's idea came from the Wooden Toaster song on YouTube about how rainbows are made. So our story begins with setting up the fact that no pony knows where the spectra to make rainbows comes from. As we find out this has been going on for 1000 years, because I guess its normal in Equestria for ponies not to question anything. Our actual story breaks in as we go to Scootaloo's perspective, she is now older and now has the ability to fly, thus destroying several of my fan fictions. She is nervous because apparently all the failures of the flight test she is about to take are never seen again because Cloudsdale is going USSR on us. Orion, Scootaloo's friend, is worried he wont pass his test while Scoots is confident she'll pass because she got tips from Rainbow Dash. Because its not like she flunked out of flight school or anything........right? After some more gloating on Scoots' part they praise Mother Russia, umm I mean the flock. The flight instructor comes in to give the rundown of the flight test, ending with the statement "Clear, Fly, Fall, Complete. Please remember that for me. One author OC insert later and Aurora Dawn nearly passes the test before her wing breaks and she is instantly failed. Orion handles the situation like any rational pony would and exiles himself from Cloudsdale just to help Aurora because no pony else would....seems legit. Scootaloo is obviously upset by losing a friend and as a result she fails too, good job. The three 'failures' as they are now referred as walk down to a carriage that will take them away. Shortly after being met by New Yorker stereotype ponies Scoots contemplates being banned from comment, and thinks that it wont be so bad. The stereotype ponies call them scum for a little bit until the carriage is handed off to ponies in black suits, Scoots notices one with rose colored eyes. Hmm, I wonder who it could be, I have no possible clue who this masked pony is, whatever, its not important. Not. At. All. At long last our protagonists arrive at titular Rainbow Factory where we meet Dr. Atmosphere, who would like to assure us that he's not a medical doctor but an engineer...hmm, he should get some coffee with Doctor Robotnik some time. As it would turn out the factory is kinda a crap hole, wires, pipes and other things are sticking out all over the place. Like most other things its not made clear why, typical. In the next room there is a large group of ponies that came from the other schools and in the center of this room is a large metal device because we all know that metal floats on clouds. Ponies in black suits enter on a catwalk and one begins going on about, "Beautiful, magical rainbows". Oh no, its finally happened. G3 DASH IS HERE TO KILL US ALL!!!! *ahem* anyway, the rose eyed pegasus which I still have no clue who it could be gives us exposition. Celestia at one time made rainbows but after Luna was banished she had no time to make them as a result the pegusi made a device because Im sure the ponies had the technology 1000 years ago to extract colors from ponies. A pony also says, "What did those horrible PEOPLE do." wait what, people? I believe the term is PONIES author, what are these people you speak of? Well the masked pony takes off her mask and *gasp* its Rainbow Dash! What I thought it would be Silver Spoon, really who did not see this coming. Ive seen M Night Shyamalan write better twists. So Scootaloo starts yelling at RD about how she betrayed her and Dash yells back about Scoots being dead to her, all that good stuff. Rainbow decides to make a statement by using the device on Scoots' friend Orion and we get a moment from Star Wars 5 where the two characters say that they love each other. Unlike Han Solo however Orion isn't going to be back for the sequel. So he gets pulled up to the device and they break his ribs beforehand, why you may ask, because potatoes, that's why. Now with Orion dead the other children are next but don't worry, Scootaloo has a plan, guess what it is. Clear, fly, fall, complete. The exact same routine that all the children failed the first time is her plan of escape............logic, what's that? All the kids gang up on the guards and try to kick open the door, the whole time Rainbow is just busy killing children faster than Pinkanima on a sugar rush just to reach Scootaloo. The door finally gives but Aurora cant fly out because her wing is broken so Scoots is left to escape along as Dash tosses her into the Pegasus Device. So now that RD is in a hate fueled frenzy she chases Scootaloo through the halls of the factory, until she escapes down a vent where she cant follow, thus escaping the factory, the end. That's to happy isn't it, so instead the vent takes Scootaloo back into the room with the Pegasus Device, thus dooming her. Rainbow catches Scoots and chains her above the device, and in evil villain fashion she asks her if she has any last words. Scootaloo says "You have beautiful eyes" thus ending the story on a ambiguous note and letting the reader wonder what actually happened.......if you don't count the sequel of alternate endings. So that was the Rainbow Factory, one of my favorite fan fictions of all time, how does it hold up? Pretty well actually, like every story it has flaws but these don't spoil the whole experience. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet read it. Leave a comment or request below, your support is appreciated, see you all next week with Frozen! Final Scores Plot 4/5 Writing 4/5 Characterization 3/5 Enjoyment 5/5 Final Score 16/20 Wanna read the story? Here it is- There is a feature length film being made about the fic! Rainbow Dash (human)

I drew RD as a human, and I wanted others to see and all that I put in in three different pictures; a full body, head close up, and body close up. Sorry for the poor quality in advance, I had to take the pictures on my phone :/ Also, I realize that she actually has long hair, but I made it short, because it fits her better, I think. You can't see the stripes in her hair (for the different colors) because I guess I made them too light. Maybe I'll color it one day

Hey, guys! New instrumental acoustic track. I hope you enjoy it!
  17. Made this for my rearview mirror! Rainbow Dash sculpture by DragonSquared, on Flickr Made out of Sculpey, some acrylic paints for the rainbow hair, and Rustolium clear varnish. I haven't sculpted anything in ages, but there are so many talented pony sculptors I got inspired to dig out some of the old sculpting clays! : Another shot of her in action on my Twitter. :} Thanks for looking everypony!
  18. This is something I just recently noticed. I haven't seen Rainbow Dash swim in any of the episodes so far (As far as I can remember). What does this have to do with anything? Maybe this could serve as a potential plot device for an episode. Maybe Dashie's secretly afraid of water (Aquaphobia?) and maybe Pinkie Pie uses her random ways to teach her? I don't know, but it's a start.

    The Realization of Classiness

I've never been one to be very indecisive about who my favorite ponies are. They all have a position in my list from favorite to least favorite, and it rarely alters. This is what my list has been for quite some time now. I don't 'dislike' any character, other than say, Diamond Tiara who's simply built to be an intolerable, manipulative bitch :3 I rank ponies by how much they interest me overall, and for a while, all throughout season one and two, this list of mine has remained for the most part stable. As we've traversed through season three however, I've come to a realization that is rather fascinating. I actually like Rarity more than Fluttershy. Now, a few points I need to make: Point one: I see Rarity gets a lot of crap for not living up to her element, or being stuck up. I don't suddenly endorse that she doesn't at least sometimes do or show that she does these things sometimes. She does. However, faults of a character are not something I use against them, like many people. Faults make characters believable. Faults make characters non-OP and not mary-sues' or gary-stus'. I love Dash beyond belief, and I love that she can come off as brash, arrogant and grumpy sometimes, because they're faults of hers (that she's been building upon with character development this season, I might add) that make her who she is (not to mention it makes her even more adorable than she already is). Likewise, the fact Rarity can seem selfish doesn't make her a bad character, just as Dash isn't a bad character for her faults. Imo, people should stop trying to find counter-arguments for why their character is mostly perfect or at least more perfect than other people think, and instead explain why their faults are believable, and why their faults should be embraced as a part of their character. Really, the Mane Six all have faults and strengths that match perfectly when you think about it. Point two: Over the past year I've learned that knowing when to separate canon from fanon (Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, etc, anyone?) isn't the only thing people should be mindful to separate. Separating the attitudes of fans of a character from the character themselves is important. Frankly, all of the ponies have tons of fans who can be exceedingly obnoxious, narrow-minded or stubborn in their views (except Twilight fans...maybe I'm just crazy but there aren't as many annoying Twilight fans as there are of other ponies). I've been lurking the ponynet outside of just here enough by now to realize this is very true. Therefore, what is the point in pinning on an inevitable reality to something like the actual character? Ignore the fans who piss you off, and enjoy the character for what they themselves have to bring to the table. To be brutally honest, I've disliked 40% of Rarity fans I've encountered, and that includes here. I find many of them to be incredibly opinionated, even stubborn in their views. Traits that I don't find as overwhelming in the fans of some of the other characters (for the most part). However, I'm not going to let that fact deter me from enjoying the character herself, who I've found in this season particularly to have plenty of entertaining moments, despite how she's gotten no episodes and little screen time overall. And those moments can even be, no, are often the little things. This post of mine is a prime example. By the way, that's a terrific thread. I love that thread. Go post in it if you haven't already. Hmmm, so, yeah. Basically, Rarity's personality is intriguing and she has many entertaining moments. She's amusing as the diva of the six, has plenty of faults just like Rainbow Dash that make her interesting to see grow as a character, and her and Sweetie are third best sisters. Fluttershy on the other hand I've found just...really, really does not interest me. A huge part of her personality is circling around the classic vulnerability/cuteness idea, which I personally find cliche and borderline boring (topic relevant). Many writers portray her differently in her episodes, she goes from primarily shy to primarily easy-going and not really shy, to more confident, then going back to being shy. Not even a primary role with Discord moved her up in my list from this inevitable fate. I could go on, but this blog is not to try and bash on Fluttershy. She's not a bad pony :3 She simply doesn't catch my interest. So, huzzah, I suppose. My list will look something like the following for the foreseeable future. Though I will say in advance, AJ is dangerously close to switching places with Twi and has been all season. Dunno if that will or won't happen at some point. Dashie > AJ > Twi > Pinkie > Rarity > Fluttershy This is Draconequus Swag 387, signing off.

    My Bazillion Avatars

So I was just flipping through all of my pony pictures, and I was revisiting the good old days when I used all these different and cool avatars. Some of these I had completely forgotten about. I thought I'd share them with all of you in case anyone cared or wanted to see some cool pictures . Most of them are the complete wrong dimensions, because I am a tech noob and you should never let me near anything electronic that's important to you. Big thanks to ~Chaotic Discord~, if any of these are the correct dimensions it's probably because of him. He deserves a lot of credit for putting these together and for being patient with me . Bari also did a few of these. Hey CD, I know you just finished the last avatar a few hours ago but I found this really cool Shadowbolt Dashie picture and... XD So here they are. You can vote on which one you like best if you'd like 1: My first avatar. I was listening to a lot of The Clash at the time 2: This one is just flat out cool. 3: Scootalove is adorable (With thanks to CD) 4: Attractive Crystal Dashie (Thanks Bari!) 5: My favorite ship (Thanks Bari!) 6: Cutest Filly/Trolling Stellafera ( With more thanks to CD) 7: Classy Dashie (With even more thanks to CD) 8: Rainbow Dad (Thanks to the Connoisseur of Pony Navels) 9: Alicorn Dashie (With thanks to my new and mostly benevolent boss) 10: In honor of AJ becoming my third favorite and as a tribute to a friend of mine. There are more, this is just the most it would let me upload

    My Season 4 Wishlist

Hello everybody I was planning to do a review of Sonic Rainboom, but due to things coming up it likely won't come until sometime next weekend maybe. In the meantime I'm feeling inspired to do this, and it'll probably be quick and easy. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT RELATED TO TWILICORN (or very minimally). Quite frankly I've read enough editorials on the subject over the past several months, and I'm not going to subject you to another one or subject myself to writing one. No fun. Moving on... I'll just get the generic staples that make for a good season out of the way here. Character development, interesting storylines, quality writing, good music, lots of Dashie, good episodes for each of the Mane Six, good comedy and the lighthearted and fun unique MLP feel. On to the good stuff. 1: Different Type of Finale A season finale with either completely balanced screentime between the Mane Six, or one giving focus to a character that isn't Twilight. I've given up hope for the premiere, since that will obviously be exploring the ramifications of Princess Twilight. This will have given Twilight conspicuous top billing in the last four major episodes, and while I am trying to stay optimistic that the show won't turn into Princess Twilight and Pals it would really help me if they kept things balanced in a major set of episodes. I also think it might be interesting if another member was given focus. How would an Applejack two-parter look? Or a Pinkie Pie one? I'm not entirely sure, but I wouldn't mind seeing either of these. 2: Flashbacks, flashbacks and more flashbacks. Some things I've been into have overdone this device to the point of stupidity, but I think that expanding on the pasts of important characters would be very enjoyable and help me to better understand what makes them tick. Plus, the Filly Six are adorable and I wouldn't mind seeing them as teenagers either. 3: A Princess Flashback Episode. Ties in with the last wish, but a lot of stuff happened a thousand or so years ago. And for the most part we are in the dark about it. Big worldbuilding potential + development for Royal Sisters + one more appearance from villainous Discord + possible backstory for Sombra= A good episode in my book. It was on my list for last season, and I'm still hoping for it for the next one. 4: Pinkie Pie sings little tunes again. Last season she became much more hit and miss with me than in seasons 1 & 2. She also didn't sing any quirky songs. Coincidence? Maybe. But I think Pinkie expresses a lot of personality through singing, and I enjoy her little songs a lot. I want them back. 5: Dashie gets a song for herself. Only Mane Six pony who hasn't ever gotten a solo. It would be both amazing and fair. 6: Dashie dons a Mare Do Well costume. That would not only be freaking cool, but it would let me officially headcanonize the fic No Hard Feelings and so much butthurt would vanish overnight. 7: Lightning Dust returns. I don't know how they would handle Lightning. She could be repentant, vengeful, neither, but I feel like there is some untapped potential in her and I'd like to see it put to use, regardless of how. 8: Some kind of sister episode We sort of got this back in Sleepless in Ponyville but there was a clear emphasis on Rainbow and Scootaloo. I wouldn't mind an episode focused equally on the Crusaders' various relationships with their sisters. Lots of potential in this idea. That's all for now
  25. Hello everyone . We have just finished watching season three and what a season it was. I thought it would be fun to look back over the whole season and write a comprehensive review of it, what was good, what could have been better, and what it did for the series. If this sounds like something that you’d be interested in reading, then I’ll cut right to the chase, and where better to start than with the premiere? The Crystal Empire After a long summer without new episodes it was incredibly satisfying to dive right into a new season. I personally only had to wait for about two months, but if the wait was driving me crazy I can only imagine how you all were feeling. Anyhow, I thought that it was a very good pair of episodes. Visuals were fantastic, and it seemed that there were plenty of nice artistic details to catch your eye in most every Crystal Empire scene. There were fantastic moments from each of the Mane Six, from Pinkie Spy to Rarity being her usual hammy self. Comedy was not neglected, as proven by the unforgettable Cadence Javelin. Spike even got to play a deciding role in the climax, and it was fantastic to see him receive some attention and for his relationship with Twilight to be touchingly expanded upon. Finally, there is one thing that I liked about this episode that I believe receives far too much criticism. King Sombra. While he didn’t have much of any backstory or established motivations (to be fair it is hard to develop a character without having it interact with anyone) he was imposing. He was the ever present evil that hung over our protagonists’ heads as they raced to save the empire, and as he finally broke through Cadence’s barrier and advanced on Spike and the Crystal Heart he made his presence felt. He served as an embodiment of power-hungry evil similar to Sauron from Lord of the Rings. My one major gripe with this episode was that it seemed far too focused on Twilight for my liking. I love Twilight, and I recognize that she is the “Main Character”, however what I loved about the first two episodes, The Return of Harmony and what drew me into the series was how the Mane Six were able to collaborate in interesting ways to do great things. While this collaboration was still present, it felt slightly strained as Twilight and Spike ran off to save the world and her friends took up support duty making straw hats and passing out flugelhorns. I would prefer it if the Mane Six were all equally relevant to the plot of major episodes, or at least more balanced than this. In spite of this issue, I liked the premiere a lot and thought it was a great way to kick off the season. Now I will begin character reviews, examining major characters and how well they were developed in season three. These will cover each of the episodes that each character was the focus of, and if there was anything good or bad about the episode unrelated to the character I will touch on it later. Spike I have a feeling that out there someone important said “Ladies and gentlemen, this season we are going to give Spike more attention.” And I’m all for that. My problem with Spike this season is that most of the time it felt like they didn’t have much of an idea what to do with him. He was elevated to the importance of the Mane Six in the premiere, and yet later placed below them in Just for Sidekicks. He was an excellent voice of reason in The Crystal Empire, and a bumbling incompetent in Spike at Your Service. I did enjoy the lessons of delayed gratification and responsibility that he learned in Just for Sidekicks, so there were plenty of positive moments with him this season. I like Spike and I like the idea of dedicating time and episodes to him, I just believe that at some point writers need to sit down and figure out exactly what Spike’s role in the show is and how to portray him with consistency. The Cutie Mark Crusaders As a group thew were the overeager, dreaming ,high-energy kids with a tendency for getting over their heads like they have always been. While Sleepless in Ponyville was primarily a Scootaloo episode I thought it provided the best characterization for the Crusaders as a whole for the season. It shared insight by comparing and contrasting them through their relationships with their sisters. Apple Bloom has a relatively normal and healthy relationship with Applejack. Sweetie Belle’s somewhat passive-aggressive give and take relationship with Rarity that still has a lot of love behind it was revisited. Of course I have the most to say about Scootaloo. Until this season she was relatively underdeveloped, her primary characteristics being her daredevil tendencies and her fangirlish behavior towards Rainbow Dash. As admirable as those traits are, she still needed more to establish her as a well-rounded character and this episode gave that to her. This episode took her feeling a step further by revealing that she wants more than a hero, she wants a mentor, a carer and a sister. Scootorphan is far from confirmed but the sheer strength of Scoots’ longing for an older figure to confide in and love far from discourages it. Watching her overcome her fears of rejection and throw down the barriers of bravado that she relied on to hide her insecurities created not only an amazing moment for her character, but also an amazingly adorable one. But you all knew that . Rarity Rarity was unfortunately relatively neglected this season. However, Rarity still provided some very memorable and enjoyable moments even if she didn’t receive an episode all for herself. She was able to liven up many scenes just by being her normal and incredibly hammy self. My favorite moment with her was probably when she eagerly decided to race the other sister pairs at the end of Sleepless in Ponyville. Fluttershy While she wasn’t especially prominent outside of her spotlight episode (and she might prefer it that way ) Fluttershy still got some fantastic development this season in my opinion. She once again proved that she continually sells herself short, because no coward would attempt to reform an all-powerful chaos spirit that had previously wreaked havoc across their entire town. She more than earned her title as a Friend to All Living Things, and while her determination to redeem Discord was extremely impressive, I was equally impressed by her rejection of him. Fluttershy has commonly been characterized as a doormat, who lets everypony (and her pet) walk all over her. I think she showed a lot of guts by finally telling the god of chaos that she was fed up with his shit. Even if Celestia was depending on her, and possibly her pride and belief in her own ability as the Element of Kindness was at stake, she proved that ultimately she is tough enough to recognize when somepony is taking advantage of her and to give them the boot. Thankfully it worked out for everyone in the end, but I think Fluttershy deserves some credit for her actions in Keep Calm and Flutter On. Pinkie Pie I thought that she performed masterfully in her episode. Too Many Pinkie Pies tied in well with A Friend in Deed, in that not only does she have to be friends with everypony but she also has to show all of her friends exactly how much they personally mean to her. I was able to relate to this completely, whick is why Pinkie is the character I relate to most besides Rainbow Dash. This episode surprised me quite honestly. I think everyone took a look at the title and synopsis of this episode and gave this evil little giggle (at least I did), anticipating randomness, hilarity and Pinkie’s overthrowing of Discord as the most chaotic character in the show. And with regards to this, it certainly lived up to expectations. However the episode was surprisingly deep as well. It revisited the fear of abandonment established in what is my favorite Pinkie Pie episode, Party of One. It was so soul crushing to watch her wonder, at the heart of it, what made her better than her clones? Incidentally, the clones acted as interesting ways to examine the depths of Pinkie’s character, in that they acted as many people perceive Pinkie. Flat. Random. Stupid. Obnoxious. However these allegations were clearly refuted by contrasting Pinkie with her clones, and wathing her overcome her doubts to prove her devotion to her friends was truly touching to see. Unfortunately as amazingly as she was used inside of her episode I felt that she was slightly more hit and miss than previous seasons. She is still my second favorite, but something seemed…off at times. A notable exception was in Wonderbolt Academy where she provided me with some positively shiptastic moments where her fears of abandonment were touched on once more. Applejack My new third best pony. She received much more attention than in previous seasons and it was well-deserved and well-used. However the thing that stood out clearly and developed Applejack best was obviously her spotlight episode, Apple Family Reunion. In it we saw good old perfectionist Applejack trying to create the best bonding experience possible but creating decidedly less than perfect results. This may have been the best episode for Applejack’s character, largely because she did something wrong. Applejack certainly has her share of issues, but unlike say, Rainbow Dash, her issues don’t generally cause her to do anything terribly wrong. There is a reason that she is the only one who has written a “I didn’t learn anything!” letter. Since making mistakes and putting your flaws on a pedestal is how character depth in this show, this has caused some to mistakenly Applejack as flat. However, there is one scene that absolutely made this episode, and this is it. This scene is not only heartwarming, but it also adds a layer of subtext to the entire episode, and in fact to Applejack’s entire life. She has taken on so much responsibility at such a young age as a desperate attempt to fill the void of her parents’ passing, and her inner drive to be perfect was suddenly explained entirely. This was one of the scenes that remind me of why I love this show, and it made me appreciate Applejack so much more. Rainbow Dash Ah. The good part There were so many fantastic moments this season from my favorite character. Throughout Sleepless in Ponyville she exhibited the same general ignorance of others’ problems that she’s always had, but what I loved was that this episode clearly showed the soft and more sensitive center that she’s always had but takes care to hide. While Season Two did an excellent job exploring her flaws, this season seemed to emphasize her more positive characteristics and that was excellent to see . The prime example of this was in Wonderbolt Academy. The ways that Rainbow has developed became clear, and being a character driven by dreams, it was unspeakably powerful to watch her sacrifice her dream in the name of staying loyal to her principles. I think this piece of art illustrates the meaning behind that scene best. Furthermore, by using Lightning Dust as a foil, Rainbow’s growth and strength of character were made all them more prominent. To elaborate further, I’ll turn to a snippet of a particularly good review of Wonderbolt Academy. I love the man who wrote that with all my heart. I think we as a community should make it a priority to find and brohoof all of his posts. I loved that episode as well because it didn’t neglect touching on Rainbow’s flaws, but it showed her confronting and surpassing them in a particularly amazing way. In addition to this we got to see have her own sort of Apple Family Reunion moment in Games Ponies Play and I admired her dedication to bringing the Empire something special, even if the episode itself wasn’t my favorite. All in all fantastic . I have made it my summer’s goal to find and hug Meriwether Williams and Corey Powell. Twilight Sparkle And Twilight. It was a good season for Twilight. The season premiere revisited both her deep need to please Celestia and her sisterly relationship with Spike, although I’d have preferred to have seen more of the latter throughout the rest of the season. In spite of my criticisms of the premiere as being too Twilight-centered for my liking, her portions of the season were in fact largely related to her learning to rely more on others. While this was something that she began to learn way back in Season One she is also a perfectionist, and at times she views having to rely on others as failure, and Sombra’s door revealed that failing Celestia is what she dreads most of all. Ultimately though she rejected this fear in the name of the greater good and turned to Spike for assistance. And it was good. In addition to this there was Magic Duel. I liked Magic Duel, and it can be compared in many ways to The Dark Knight Rises, so bonus points. I have seen some criticism of this episode as focusing far too much on plot and not enough on character development or interaction. While this isn’t entirely groundless, I do believe that it did something important for Twilight. She has a strong sense of responsibility, particularly when there is a disaster that is magical in origin. As the resident crazy-powerful magician it makes sense that she think this way, but it has limited her in the past. You could somewhat compare her thinking to this: This episode presented the rare occasion where Twilight is completely magically outclassed, and it somewhat undid my issues with The Crystal Empire by having her rely on her friends to remove the amulet. I also enjoyed the stylistic twist of her ending up playing the Trixie to Trixie’s Twilight, by winning through illusion and deception. And of course her easy forgiveness of Trixie cemented her credentials as a very compassionate character. The finale did an excellent job of showing how far she has come and how great of a character she is. Secondary Characters This season also used secondary characters masterfully. It was wonderful to see Discord, Luna, and Spitfire again, and furthermore to see different sides to their personalities than we had seen in previous seasons. Discord isn't as evil or heartless as he initially seemed to be. Spitifre isn't always laid back and relaxed. Luna isn't always an awkward CANTERLOCK-using, lightning bolt throwing night godess. And I loved those portrayals of the characters, but showing them with different behavior and in different situations made them much more well-rounded characters, and that is always nice . However, the thing that I believed that this season did best with secondary characters was to set up future plotlines for them. Redeeming Trixie and Discord made their returning in supporting roles ever the more likely. Now we can have an episode with the Manehattan crusaders or exploring Luna's rola as guardian of dreams. In addition to this, my new favorite minor antagonist Lughtning Dust could return, either to become good or to cement herself as Rainbow Dash's nemesis. Also, now that Rainbow has (presumably) a father, an episode featuring all of their families seems more likely. So all in all amazing, but I believe next season will have even more amazing appearances from secondary characters. I can't wait to see what it has to offer. Miscellaneous Animation was sleek and amazing, especially in episodes where they decided to go all out. After watching the finale, I guess I now know where they hid all of the music for this season which was top notch as well. I feel like Season Two's music was still better, but all in all nothing to complain about and much to praise. The Finale I will have typed this in thre span of five minutes or so, so forgive the probably lower quality. I liked the finale a lot, and it really showed off Larson's writing ability. There were many powerful moments, songs, comedy (Fluttershy's animals are EVIL! THEY TRIED TO EAT THE BEST PONY!) and it was all around great. Twilight has indeed come a long way, and while I still strongly disapprove of Twilight becoming an Alicorn, and if anything the episode reinforced my concerns about it, I still thought that while it was a concept that I to put it mildly, loathe, it was still executed very well. On the plus side, Meghan McCarthy has said that this one will function as something of a three-parter, so I can hold onto a shred of hope for Unicorn Twilight in Season Four. Good job M.A Larson. You've earned your place as my favorite writer. I had never thought of a Musical Episode but now I kind of want more of them Overall a fantastic season. I think Season Two edges it as my favorite still, but it did so much for the series and it was wonderful to watch it and to share it with all of you. May the next one be even better.
