  1. Hello, everyone! I was debating whether I should do this topic, and decided I should. So I was just wondering, are there any countries you want to visit? I have quite a few of them, and they are the following: The Philippines (based on everything I've read about the country, as well as the pictures of it I've seen, it seems like a beautiful country, and I'd love to visit many of its landmarks and try a lot of the food there. I also have lots of friends from the country) Thailand (I actually went to Thailand when I was younger, kinda wanted to visit again for some reason) Japan (I'll admit it is mainly because of Japanese pop culture, but I do also want to visit some of its many landmarks, and learn more about the country) South Korea (pretty much the same reasons as Japan) United Kingdom (not sure why, I kinda just do!) Sweden (again, I'm not really sure) Poland (For some reason, I've started being interested in Poland) The Netherlands (my dad's side of the family is from there) New Zealand (my mum's side of the family is from there) United States (mainly for the pop culture, as well as some landmarks) Canada (again, not really sure why, I kinda just do) Mexico (forgot to mention this one, but, I'd love to try more Mexican foods, besides the usual tacos, burritos, etc...) China (it does seem like an interesting country, and considering the kind of influence it seems to be gaining in the world, I'd like to visit it)

    Alcatraz-like prisons in Europe

What maximum-security prisons similar to Alcatraz does Europe have?
  3. Do you think there will be places similar to 19th Century Europe at some point in the series?

    Fallout games set in Europe

Do you think Bethesda could make Fallout games set in Europe?
  5. So Britain will be holding a referendum tomorrow on whether to stay in the European Union or not. The polls in Britain have been neck and neck so I really can't call anything. Honestly I'm quite exhilarated but get the feeling I'm going to be disappointed in the end. Personally I believe Britain should leave; I may or may not discuss my reasons but generally I view a decentralization of power as a good thing. So what do you guys think? Would Britain be better off as an independent state? Do most people even care, lol?
  6. Does anyone watch Eurovision and if so, what are your favorite songs this year, 2015? I personally love the idea with Eurovision, 'cause Europe get this chance every year to share their love for music and culture, we come together in a song contest. It's a fair deal and it's just amazing to see, so powerful with all the countries together in one big thing, cooperating to make a good show for all the people. I'm so happy to see Australia with us this year too! Even if they're not a part of Europe, they've done a lot for Eurovision through the years and are great with music as well. Welcome to the show, Australia. <3 Either way, I watched the Semi final part 1 yesterday and my favorites were the following: Romania I love this one because of the message of the song, and because it's very catchy. I also adore how they decided to sing the first half of the song in Romanian and the second part of it in English. Very clever if you ask me! Serbia This one had a powerful song, a great message and a fantastic performance! I really enjoyed it, and it caught my attention a little bit extra. <3 Hungary This was a little boring to listen to, but SURELY a beautiful message, fine lyrics, AMAZING light show on stage and a pretty song in general. What did you think? Are you cheering on your own country this year or another one? If you're not from Europe, have you watched this show and what do you think of it? Lemme hear it all! If you're going to be too negative with opinions though, please try not to be too loud on here. Negativity's nothing to bicker on and about. I'm waiting in excitement for tomorrow, Semi final 2, that my country is going to be competing in!

    Anyone here watch European Football?

Does anyone here watch European football at all? If you guys do, this is the place to chat all about the European clubs you want to see succeed! From Arsenal to West Ham, from FC Barcelona to Real Zaragoza, and from Bayern Munich to Dortmund, all things European football are here! Personally, I'm a huge Gunner. I first loved them when I played FIFA Soccer 2003 (yes I had the NTSC version) and saw the Arsenal FC logo. I just loved them ever since. I watched the game winner from Olivier Giroud today against Tottenham and know about their embarrassing defeat at the start of the season against Aston Villa. I also know about Arsenal's tough draw with Marseille, Dortmund, and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League. They've certainly got it tough. So how about you? Do you watch European football with a fervour? If so, who do you root for?

    2014 EU election results

I just wanted to ask everyone what they thought of the latest EU election results, this can be for anywhere in the EU, not just western Europe. Personally, I thought the victory of Far-Right parties in the west (in Particular UKIP in the UK and the Front National in France) showed that the only people who really knew or cared about the EU elections were far-right people who wanted to no longer be part of the Union, as further proven by (in the UK at least) the extremely poor election turnout (it was in the region of about 30%). Anyway, be nice, discuss.
  9. Many of you know that i am a red cross voluntieer paramedic Not much of you knows how much i love waht i do, and why i love red cross to explain that i decide to talk you about the history of the movement, something that many ignores, i like it particulary because what happened was really near where i do live (Verona) The idea of a man The Red Cross idea was born in 1859, when Henry Dunant, a young Swiss man, came upon the scene of a bloody battle in Solferino, Italy, between the armies of imperial Austria and the Franco-Sardinian(Italy) alliance. Some 40,000 men lay dead or dying on the battlefield and the wounded were lacking medical attention. Dunant was shocked by the view of those poor soldiers, being walked on by others and basically let to die in agony. He organized local people to bind the soldiers' wounds and to feed and comfort them. talking to a medic on a nerby hospital he was shocked even more but soon On his return in his country, he called for the creation of national relief societies to assist those wounded in war, and pointed the way to the future Geneva Conventions. The Red Cross was born in 1863 when five Geneva men, including Dunant, set up the International Committee for Relief to the Wounded, later to become the International Committee of the Red Cross. Its emblem was a red cross on a white background: the inverse of the Swiss flag. The following year, 12 governments adopted the first Geneva Convention; a milestone in the history of humanity, offering care for the wounded, and defining medical services as "neutral" on the battlefield. The red cross movement now This is what lead us, in our every day work, the red cross doesn't only help medically persons, but it work worldwide with this objective in its mind, and when you apply this to your every day life.. you realzie how much it is awesome and important The 7 principles what we do is "ruled" by this 7 principles Humanity The International Red Cross Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples. Impartiality It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. Neutrality In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature. Independence The Movement is independent. The National Societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary service It is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity There can be only one Red Cross or one Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. Universality The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide. Voluntieering there, driving my ambulance, is awesome, really.. but after all it is still a paramedic job (don't get me wrokng, it is the best job in the world!) but what makes it different.. is when i voluntieer there.. out of my ambulance.. when we went on heartquakes trying to give relief to the poor childrens that lost everything, during flows, digging in the mud to seek for an hope, meeting other voluntieers in the world, sharing our experience and entusiasm.. being in the military red cross.. and giving food and shelter to who had nothing... those are the thing that made me proud of being there, all of the other voluntieers for me are like a family, and i wouldn't lieave this family for all the gold of the world
