Hello everyone. I hope you had a good Christmas/Hearth's Warming so far. Just wanted to break the news that due to some unforeseen circumstances from my end, that the work on the project will be heavily postponed. My initial plan was to release Fight Scene (MLP IRL) sometime by Q4 2019 (realistically speaking), though due to what I mentioned earlier, that release window may be delayed even more. By how much, I honestly don't know. Reason being is because due to the much bigger vision I have for this next entry in the series, that means that I will need a much bigger budget than I had earlier when I worked on Chat Scene (MLP IRL) back in 2016-2017. I'm not giving up on this at all, just to make that absolutely clear. I'm a man/stallion of my word. Whatever plans I mention to the public, they will happen (unless otherwise specified). Got any questions, feel free to comment below or PM me. Until next time, Have a great Happy Holidays.
Hello everyone, After much consideration, I have decided to create a blog specifically dedicated to the progress of Fight Scene (MLP IRL). For those who want to keep up to date on the progress of this entry in the series, please make sure to follow this blog so you stay informed. As of today, I now have my brainstormed thoughts and ideas (which will expand when I continue adding more at random) on a Word document in order to keep myself organized instead of having random notes on different devices and sticky notes. Therefore, I'm still in the R&D (Research and Development) Stage, before I eventually get to the scripting stage. Stay tuned for more updates to come. - Jonathan "Jonny" Selimovic (Jonny Music)
So, I'm writing a fanfic and a frequent element of the action will be that my protagonist is a pegasus sword fighter. He uses wing-swords as his primary weapon. Don't worry about the mechanics of that for now. I have something slightly less awkward to work with because the hero's wings or at least somewhat functionally similar to arms in this instance. I also have some novice skill in swordsmanship and quite a bit of academic knowledge on the subject. So how would I best write sword fighting scenes? Should I be technical, describing balance, techniques, and kata? Stylized, going more into The Princess Bride, or Highlander, letting the moves be exaggerated, and the setups for the fight make the scene notable? A mix of both for different scenes perhaps? What's your take on written fight scenes, particularly those that involve close combat weapons?
