    Let it go..

A pretty neat piece of Frozen fanart that needs some recognition. All hail the Ice Queen.
  2. I'll try to keep it spoiler free for those who haven't seen them.. I personally prefer Big Hero 6. It was over shadowed by Frozen because of it's explosive popularity but if we ignore the fact that Frozen is freaking everywhere and over hyped and over played, it didn't feel it was as strong and unique as Big Hero 6. I know Frozen was like an old fairy tale and that's fine, but I prefer Big Hero 6 visually and the characters are more interesting to me. Unlike many other films, there isn't a romance shoe horned into the plot of the film. But the designs.. I can't get over! Its just pure awesome. Frozen is good but it didn't grab me too much. It's a similar story to Wicked and Elsa and Elphaba are identical, and even played by the same actress! And when people started saying, 'Oh its all about girl power! Its like, the first Disney movie to do that!' *cough* Excuse me? Errr, what about Mulan? Did you skip Mulan as a kid? If you haven't seen it, watch it. Now. Don't even reply. Go! It's on Netflix!! *cough* So what about you guys? Which do you prefer and why?
  3. Ahh, Frozen. The tale of how a girl named Elsa with magical ice powers isolates herself from her sister Anna, who ventures to get her back with the help of the iceman Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and the ever wacky Olaf. Sometimes, it bewilders me how popular the movie has become, to the point where it has reached the status of a franchise. It is that exact popularity which serves as the reason why I detest this movie and everything about it, everything except its message of course. Now don't get me wrong. Were this movie a lot more subtle and a whole lot less in-your-face, I might've been able to respect its presence. Unfortunately, things didn't work out that way, and now I wonder when this will end. The films, the franchise, the frenzy among girls to buy Elsa and Anna dresses. Heck, even the naming of newborns after the characters themselves! And now, with a short being shown before the Cinderella remake and a sequel on the way, I wonder how I will survive this. How I will be able to put up with Frozen being constantly shoved in my face at every corner. Why am I writing this rant? Well, it's quite simple. On St. Patrick's Day, my hometown of Ballincollig held a contest to see how many Elsas they could fit into one place. The record was set at 771. Posters for the event were put up everywhere, and even a local barbershop had a mural painted on its windows dedicated to the event. Wondering for the life of me how Frozen had anything to do with St Patrick's Day, I decided enough was enough and that I needed to blow off some steam on this matter. Obviously, I had to go and march in the parade in Cork City, but knowing that coming back there to get a Shamrock Shake, I'd probably run into an Elsa at every corner was a nightmare for me. Anyway, I have had quite enough of this Frozen mania. I hope it blows over before the sequel is released and I pray to God for the souls of the next generation who will no doubt be inundated with songs from maybe the next three or four sequels, merchandise that will fill their kid's rooms to the rafters and a general takeover of internet culture by Frozen. Suddenly I know how an anti-brony feels, and by God, it's not a good thing in the slightest.
  4. I took pictures of some stuff I drew recently, including a pencil drawing of Rainbow Dash. I usually can't post this stuff because I don't have my own camera... I would loooove to post some more, especially MLP stuff, but I don't know when I'll be able to get the camera again... Oh well, enjoy! Questions, comments, critiques??
  5. "Let it go!...Let it go! Can't hold it back anymore!" Here is my OC, Melody Mix singing one my favorite songs! I hope you like my art!
  6. Elsa from Frozen goes up against Celestia in a battle to decide who makes the most badass ruler. Who wins?! Rules Both are IC except for being blood lusted Elsa can summon her snow golems if needed Winning via BFR or restraint is allowed They're on the North Mountain Elsa is in her Post Thaw power level stage Celestia can fly around as needed but if she leaves Elsa's range of sight, it counts as a BFR My bet goes on Elsa. Each of the snowlems has shown enough power to casually uproot trees and Elsa is able to create ice out of nothing. Celestia isn't surviving having a giant castle dropped on top of her
  7. What song do you think is better? Everything is Awesome? Or Let it go?
  8. Please ignore the Dreamworks Face. GO. NOW. GET IN YOUR AUTOMOBILE, GO TO THE MULTIPLEX, ACQUIRE AN ENTRY VOUCHER, SIT YOUR BUTT DOWN, AND ENJOY THE BEST DAMN MOVIE DISNEY HAS MADE IN LIKE FOREVER. Bolt was pretty decent, Princess and the Frog was flawed but also pretty good, Tangled was really good, Wreck-it-Ralph was great, and this... It's... It's... Yes. Magic. For anybody who's been hoping that Disney would truly go back to the glory days of the Renaissance, this is the closest its come in over a decade. Maybe I'm over-blowing how great it is, but if anything, that's an indication of how excited this movie made me, and it's only getting better the more I think about it. I know, I know, absolutely nothing in the commercials or trailers has indicated anything really great. "What," you snarl, "that stupid-looking movie with the obnoxious snowman guy? Why would I want to watch that, Citrus? You have failed me yet again!" But I assure you, your majesty, it really is much more than some pandering kiddie-flick. It's actually quite smart. Like, genius. Subversive, even. Like, it's gonna hit you like a hurricane five different ways past Sunday. Whatever that means. If it sounds like I'm being ambiguous, it's because I totally am and you have fallen right into my trap. I really don't want to give away everything that makes this movie genius, so both because it's best you go in blind and because I am lazy, imma just gush for a minute or two. 7 FREAKING REASONS FROZEN IS FREAKING GREAT. 1. The voice cast is marvelous and lively, especially Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel as the lead sisters. Menzel's experience as the misunderstood Elphaba in Wicked comes in handy as lonely-princess-with-supernatural-powers-turned-badass-snow-queen Elsa. 2. Like I said, subversive as hell. The "love at first sight" and subsequent one-day courtship that usually appears in Disney movies is condemned and mocked by several characters (and it's actually what sets off the main conflict in the movie), the main relationship is between siblings and not a couple, the Disney trope that deems all queens be evil is played with, the absence of the parents that we always see in these films actually takes a toll the main characters, and the comic relief character is almost a tragic figure. 3. That said, it still balances that line between taking a critical eye to the tropes of the past and still displaying a genuine love for the Disney canon and all the fluff that comes with it, something most recent fairy tale (if you can call them that) movies have a hard time doing for some reason. 4. It's expertly scripted and paced, juggling several themes, introducing characters and ideas, and moving the plot along all at once, and it doesn't even break a sweat. Me thinks some of Pixar's sorcery has rubbed off on Disney. 5. The musical numbers are absolutely phenomenal. The central ballad, "Let it Go", can stand toe-to-toe with anything from the Renaissance. I'm listening to it right now. 6. It's the type of visual treat that only Disney could create. They get a lot of millage out of the ice powers and all the fantastic imagery they result in. 7. Even Olaf the Snowman, the obvious comic relief everyone thought was gonna be the worst thing ever, is kind of great. The movie knows when it's appropriate to whip him out for a healthy laugh and when to restrain him and let the drama happen. He's genuinely likeable (thanks in no small part to Book of Mormon's Josh Gad's performance), and his lack of understanding of what freeing the land from winter and bringing back Summer will mean for him adds an unusual layer of sadness to his character. The movie mostly plays it for laughs, but it's there, and it becomes quite poignant in the third act. Just to be clear, it's not entirely perfect. Maybe the songs could have been paced a bit better (like most Disney movies, the first half is flooded with music while they become more scarce in the second half), and I think the climatic scene could have used just a wee bit more umph (though it should be noted that there is still a considerable amount of umph). While the movie does a great job of reinventing the Disney Princess movie, if you have a genuine problem with Disney fluffiness and magic in general, than you might not be all too into this. Then again, I'm posting this on MLP Forums, and I'm guessing most of you probably don't have a problem with that. So yeah, Frozen is great. Really, truly, beautifully great. Really hope this is an indication that Disney is entering a new golden age. Everyone go see it. NOW. It gets a 9/10.
  9. Something that I've noticed about the Disney movie Frozen... we all know it is massively successful around the world, and that it has a noticeably larger fanbase than most other recent Disney anmated features, specifically, the active Internet grownup fanbase.... enough where there is serious discussion of which female character is most appealing, Anna, or Elsa. There are a few similarities to our special pony show and this Disney film (animation, female characters, musical, but in the grand scheme of things one is a TV show and one is a more recent feature film with an understandably much larger audience) but the one I am thinking of are that they both have two royal sisters. The FiM fanbase tends to... and I don't speak for everypony here, "prefer" one pony princess over another, especially among the two sisters. With Elsa and Anna from Frozen, a direct comparison of which one matches up with which pony is... not precise. Luna has the darker past... so maybe she is more like Elsa... She is more hammy tho, maybe like Anna? Princess Anna has a forgiving and optimistic spirit, there are shades of that in Princess Celestia. Do people who tend to "prefer" one pony sister as their favorite also lean toward a favorite Arendelle sister? I defnitely have Luna as my fave princess of any pony princess, but for Frozen.... I dunno, maybe Elsa has a more interesting character design and singng voice.. I generally don't find her characterization very interesting or even amusing tho, she is kind of a Disney emo. Discuss your thoughts of these two pairs of royal sisters!
  10. Hey there everyone! Here is a dicussion I am making because obviously... I'm bored! While thinking (In my opinion) how bad most of the songs in frozen's OST were. I only found about two I enjoyed, while equestria girls I enjoyed almost every song. Then I got to thinking... which movie was better overall? I'll leave this short and sweet for you guys. Which movie do you think was better and why? Please leave your comments with your votes! Feel free to pour your heart out!
  11. I know Frozen is a great movie, I saw it myself and I loved it. However, the fanbase has gotten out of hand to where half of the fanbase or more is obsessed with it, and it bugs me to death. Can some explain why?
  12. Yuh, so I only did this to replace the old pony collage on my wall and well it got intense. Took me a couple days to finish it since I get distracted easily. All done in ghetto crayola/rose art colored pencils. Old collage(drawn 6 months ago I think?) New collage The biggest struggle was trying to take a really good picture with my phone without the damn lights messing up the colors too much. took 20 pictures and me sitting in the bathroom to accomplish the task.
  13. Alright! Here are the rules: -You must make a title for a parody song based on the song "Let it Go" in Frozen. -The title must have the same amount of syllables as and rhyme with Let It Go -You'll have to provide the general idea the parody will be based around. -The general idea can be about whatever you want. Here's an example: Let 'em Know, A song about parents telling their matured children that Santa Claus does not exist. Go Forth!
  14. Ok guys, I know that this is probably silly of me to post this but whatever. So basically with all this Elsanna incest stuff going around tumblr and other places, I wanted to know who was for it or agasint it. Personally I'm all for Elsanna, as long as it's not incest. I mean I'm not agasint that or anything, I believe in freedom of love, but still.
  15. I am planning on making an Adventure story in which 5 male ponies traverse the Frozen North. The Five Ponies are: Starswirl (Unicorn): Descendant of Starswirl the bearded and obviously named after him. He is an introvert and a book worm with an inferiority complex due to himself being named after Starswirl. He unconsciously put himself to the task to following the footsteps of the original Starswirl and devoted his life to magic. Beat Ballad (Unicorn): An expert Musician and composer. He is well known throughout Equestria for his upbeat and happy orchestrations. He has a unique magical ability in which he can manipulate the air to create sound waves that can mimic any type of sound. Decided to go to the Frozen North to view the Aurora Borealis. Star Hunter (Pegasus): A lover of the stars and astronomy. He decided to leave to the Frozen north to see the different stars and constellation visible in the North Pole. Cheese Sandwich (Earth Pony): The same Cheese from Pinkie Pride. His Cheesy sense tells him that the next party that he must throw is in Marebanks (pun on Fairbanks Alaska) a Frozen Pony City in the North Western Part of the Frozen North. Steamer (Earth Pony): Conductor of the Friendship express. There is a route that the Express takes once every 6 months to the city of Marebanks. It is a dangerous trek, and Steamer was put in charge of the route for the first time. Synopsis of the story: The Friendship Express gets derailed due to a raging Blizzard. Luckily the Ponies in the train were able to escape. Starswirl makes a magical barrier to shield the group from the storm. Star Hunter spots a mountain and a cave with his telescope, and the group travels towards the mountain to seek shelter from the storm. The story goes from there while the 5 ponies encounter various dangers and wonders in the Frozen North. Would this fic be worth making? I am not really that knowledgeable about other's fanfics, so is there anyone else who made something like this already?
  16. I made a thread a few months back for the lineart of the drawing in my avatar, and then I attempted to color it like, five times, and I tried redrawing it and shading it in graphite...I don't know why I'm so obsessed with getting that stupid drawing right Now to take it a step further, I'm attempting to sculpt them out of sculpey. Elsa has been the biggest headache. Each of her legs have broken off at least twice, and there are cracks running along all over her. Anna cracked a tiny bit, but it's not nearly so bad. Elsa even took a tumble and lost all of her limbs and horn at once (but I didn't miss the opportunity to make plenty of Let it Go jokes...). So yeah, clearly there's a lot I need to learn when I work with clay. Anna has an armature and Elsa does not, so I'm guessing that is what was causing most of the problems. I just need to give them tails, then my boyfriend is going to paint them for me (he paints miniatures and I have neither the skills nor patience to do so.) So yeah, will update soon hopefully! And hope you guys like them so far.
  17. Made a piece of fanart for the movie Frozen, decided to make a little chibi pony headshot of Elsa c:
  18. Yeah, thought I should start one... unless there's already one out there. Yeah, It's been forever since I posted ANYTHING here. Recently, and by recently, I mean like, two months ago, I saw Frozen and it was...actually quite awesome. It reminded me a lot of MLP and I guess, a lot of people saw that because there now is a WHOLE FANDOM of Frozen Fans. Sure, it didn't grow horribly out of control and spark a war on 4Chan, but it's a fandom, nonetheless. I guess the bronies that saw Frozen, well some of us, anyway, sparked a new sector of the fandom. I have no idea what to call that sector. Are we Fronies? That sounds like we are furries/bronies, no offence to furries. I completely respect you guys. Are we the Bronies of Arendelle? I got no idea. Anyway, I got creative and I created Elsa, well, ponified Elsa. Do you guys got any Frozen-related stuff that you made? Or are just gonna ask each other if we want to build a snowman?
  19. First off, I'd like to make it clear like I like the movie Frozen, but I have a few things I'd like to point about it that bothered me. Im not trying to bash this movie in any way either, I am just wondering if anyone else feels the same way. 1. Elsa's powers. We hardly saw them in action, but what bothered me was that we knew no origin of these powers other than Elsa was born with them. I at least wish they could have had some sort of explanation of them and why she had them. It seemed almost lazy to me that they decided to just say "oh she was born with them" and give no further explanation. It just felt sloppy to me :/ 2. The trolls..... OK.... WHAT? we know next to nothing about those trolls or what their deal was. Who are they? How did the king know them? How did the king know to come to them for help when Elsa's powers got out of hand? And I honestly did not enjoy the song they sang... I can't be the only person to wonder about these things.... So I look forward to responses, Again, I like Frozen but I just feel like Disney films are becoming so predictable and the formula is always the same for their storylines now. (I'm afraid people will be mad at me for this, I know there are lots of Frozen fans here... Eek!)
  20. So...I've noticed an interesting trend in new Disney movies. Particularly princess movies. The trend started innocently enough in Pixars Brave. At the end of the movie, it looked like Merida had lost as the second sunrise came and her mom was still a bear. Only after Merida cried over what her mother had become, did the sun raise fully and her mom turn back to normal. (The only reason I'm counting a Pixar movie here is because Merida officially became a 'Disney Princess') The trend continued into the new princess movie, Tangled. This time it was more apparent, as Rapunzel's magic tears brought her recently dead boyfriend Flynn back to life. We could give this a pass seeing that she still had the magic in her from the flower. Then in Frozen, we see Elsa cry over her sister. Her sobs too seemed to bring her sister back alive, this time it was passed by an 'act of true love'. But if you put this all together, the trend is too present not to notice: In the Disney universe, crying is magic! Not just any magic, but bordering on the line of necromancy. And it seems that only Disney princesses can do this magic. So what do you think? Is crying the new 'true loves kiss?' Will this trend continue into the new princess movies yet to come out? Or does it stop at Frozen? Post below! It's just some food for thought. What do all of you think?
  21. It's funny that there was just a thread about Frozen posted and I find this http://www.celebrityy.com/p/36969?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=share&utm_term=p36969&utm_campaign=StZh Wow really and it's probably just because of the ending which I will not spoil but if you've seen it, you'd know how stupid this whole thing is. So discuss away!
  22. These are my Anna and Elsa ponies. My friend tried posting on my behalf but it got flagged or something. So I'm reposing. Enjoy
  23. You're probably sick and tired of these videos but this ones the funniest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuhWynjZVYg
  24. So both of these latest Disney princess films have been created by the same amazing animation studios. There has been a bit of discussion over which is better because of the slight similarity between in two in terms of animation style and such. So, which film is your personal favourite? If I had to pick, I'd say Frozen. I enjoyed the soundtrack, characters and comedy a lot more. I loved the sister relationship and I thought the true love's twist was great. However, I found that Tangled's story was a bit more rounded-up and left fewer questions unanswered.
