    Tirek Fan Club

http://mlpforums.com/topic/4722-pony-fan-clubs/ Welcome To The Tirek Fanclub! Tirek is a G1 villain brought back for the season 4 finale. In G1 he conquered a kingdom and turned its prince into a gargoyle named Scorpan who transformed back once he was defeated. His goal was to bring on the "night that never ends" with his rainbow of darkness making him an influence for Nightmare Moon. A few rules -No spamming post to become biggest fans -This is a children’s show, and believe it or not there are younger people who go on these forums, please limit content to suggestive only. For example you may post a picture of two ponies kissing, but they cannot be doing anything inappropriate, or showing things inappropriate. (or else someones head will roll) -Do not post a picture of Applejack in the Luna forum, because Applejack belongs in the Applejack forum unless of course Luna is also in the picture. -Do not hate on another fan club -All of MLP Forums rules still apply. -Fan art is encouraged but all images with the exception of the cover image in this first post must have the proper spoiler tags. Large amounts of unspoilered images on a single page can often cause lag and nobody likes to deal with lag.
  2. Hey guys, so this was like a week old news but I have tried to search for these in almost all targets and none of the store have them in stock. Is this some sort of error? and has anyone spotted them at their target? I fear it might been a limited edition items or a pre-release item. what do you guys think? https://www.mlpmerch.com/2018/01/35th-anniversary-g1-ponies-appear-at-target.html?showComment=1516159825177#c2761493705701782083

    Megan Williams fanclub

Well, I guess it makes sense for not having a fanclub dedicated to N1 audience surrogate and original main character and hero in the franchise: Megan Williams Makes sense for not having a fanclub back then, but considering she’s now G4 canon .....

  5. Did you ever watch, by any ponies, or do anything that has to do with generation 1-3 and Newborn Cuties? If so, I'd love to see your response! I personally have not and I really don't like g1-3, but I'm curious to see what people think!
  6. A few days ago, I watched one of Mr. Enter's older videos: a countdown of his ten worst FIM episodes of the series (only the first three seasons counted). At the time, Dragon Quest was his second-worst, only behind Putting Your Hoof Down. The one thing that caught my attention when summarizing DQ's issues is how he called an episode from G1 better than this. After a quick Wiki search, I found Spike's Search, a 1987 episode from MLP & Friends, containing the following summary: Hmm…similar to DQ, ain't it? For those who are curious, here's a link to the episode: Let's quickly get a few of Search's flaws out of the way. At the time, all animation was hand-drawn, so you'll see shortcuts. A chunk of this animation is more dated than a classic Scooby Doo episode. The lip-syncing is horrible. Many times, the characters were saying one thing, yet their lips say something else. The B-Plot — Weston the Eagle looking for his parents — was dropped until the resolution. The song…not good, either. Both lyrically and vocally. The dragons are stereotypical bullies. Fortunately, this story isn't a dud, and plenty of the faults come from the standards at the time. The background is really good, and Spike is very sympathetic with a noble goal. If I tell you more, I won't be able to explain why Spike's Search is better than DQ. How better? Well, let's get crackin'! The trigger. Every story has to set the conflict somehow, and this is no exception. Two adjectives apply to DQ: sexism, xenophobia. The entire episode is prevalent in this nature, including the opening act. Spike's desire to know about his origins and family comes from their infamous conversation within the ditch: Dash laughs at (and insults) Spike for his pink apron (along with his so-called "feminine" action of baking cookies), and this: This is just one part, but it ruins the story as a whole. Spike's friends declaring how not acting like other dragons makes him better than the rest of the population. In story context, let's put it this way: Not convinced? Apply it to real life: Not funny now, is it? The xenophobia comes from the ponies mocking dragons as a whole for their supposedly brutish, tough, ugly-looking, and aggressive nature while not understanding at all who dragons as a race truly are physically, emotionally, and psychologically. For all the audience knows, they're knocking them through perception, not fact. The one thing all six are aware of about them is their migration patterns. In Spike's Search, that conversation doesn't exist. As the group played volleyball, Spike sneezes, accidentally shooting fire in the process and frightening all the ponies. Spike repeatedly apologizes, and both Megan and brother Danny continually reassure him that it wasn't his fault. Though, the fact that he nearly hurt ponies triggered his guilt, and sneezing fire multiple times afterwards doesn't help. While Spike's friends from DQ peer-pressured him into joining the dragon migration, Spike from G1 pressured himself to find his family. His quest to find his parents stems from the belief that they'll better raise him, control his accidental fire-breathing, understand manners, and so forth. In short, he feels like he belongs better with other dragons. The stereotypical bully. Both Dragon Quest and Spike's Search use the stereotypical bully. It's a big flaw in both episodes. But if you ask me which stereotypical bully is better, it's from Search. Why? DQ attaches both age-old teenage boy and teenage bully stereotypes along with the bully archetype itself. All of their mannerisms are simplified human beliefs of masculinity: overly aggressive, greedy, vocal, the "traditional" teenage boy voice, a lust for intimidation, macho, and selfish. Design-wise, each dragon is supposed to represent what a dragon looks like in their teenage phase. With each scene, the episode shames Spike for being a dragon (and to parallel it, a boy IRL for traits completely unlike a "normal" boy). Spike's Search doesn't do that. He's originally happy to take part in the group of adult dragons, but is taken aback by their rudeness, greed, and selfishness. When two dragons insulted him for his size, the older king dragon dissented and crafted colorful language to try to make him prove to the group that he belongs in their gang. Rather than initially trying to physically bully him into joining or else, the king dragon emotionally lures him via mind games. Most importantly, the metaphors of dragons = boys and ponies = girls don't exist. Not only aren't the labels of masculinity and femininity visually depicted, but the dragons don't attempt to classify ponies as female-oriented, either. Instead, the dragons use Spike's naiveté to bring them into Dream Valley to further manipulate him. The climax. Search's climax is infinitely better. DQ: Dash, Twilight, and Rarity challenge the dragons to a fight, and Spike disassociates himself from his race, literal fighting words to the dragons. So, what do they do? Run away. *sigh* Talk about a major anticlimax. Spike's Search: Spike's friends assemble a party to lure them into a trap. Their weapon of choice: rushing water that temporarily douses their fire-breathing. If they're going to bully people throughout the town and their close friend, there'll be consequences. Since they use fire, words, and size as weapons, Spike's friends using their strengths against them creates a satisfying comeuppance. The moral. This is what seals it. So, what makes this very different from DQ? How it's set up. To reiterate, Spike wants to be a grown-up dragon and initiated his quest on an accident. Dragon life isn't automatically declared to be inherently inferior to pony life at any point. Hell, the group supported him throughout, and both he and Danny walked together to find some. Additionally, it emphasizes that this is only a cluster of dragons, not an actual representation of dragons as a whole. It doesn't metaphorically differentiate boys from girls. With it absent, the sexism implications don't exist. When Spike begins to believe that the dragon life is about bullying other people, Danny quickly interrupts him and reminds him that those dragons aren't the only ones out there. There are different kinds of ponies and dragons. Rather than affirm a generalization to both him and us, he tells Spike he only ran into some bad luck. This type of moral applies as much today and can be done really well if you know what you're doing and tell a decent story in the process. Conclusion: Friendship Is Magic is a great show, but it screws up royally here and there. Dragon Quest stands as season 2's worst due to sexist stereotyping, racism implications, and botching the moral of how no one group is a monolith by generalizing a select few as the whole. Is FIM better than G1? Yes. But sometimes it can take a lesson or two from its predecessors. Albeit with worse animation, Spike's Search does DQ's same plot nearly twenty-five years prior better.
  7. In the original MLP TV series, the farmgirl Megan (who was 12 years old) and her siblings, Danny and Molly, went on adventures saving Ponyland from villains. In consequent official MLP works, they were never seen again, except in one Equestria Girls comic where their names are mentioned in a leaflet (under Sunset Shimmer) as being associated with a room. In the context of daily life for people growing up through the 90's and into 2017, I wonder, how do you think Megan and her siblings would have lived to the present day (or even into the future), as they grew up after their adventures in Ponyland? The stories of their older lives, and those of their possible descendants, would be fascinating. Furthermore, how do you think they (or their future families) might have reacted to FiM and Equestria Girls, and its quirky fanbase?

    Help with value - G1 and G3

One of the reasons I sought out this forum was to get an idea of the value of some of my collection. I have G1 & G3. I am looking to sell some to help finance a present for my husband. Which would be better value in general: MIB G3s - I have a cupboard full of lots of different ones and a couple of the first mail order G3 in bags) or various G1s (thinking of parting with a MIB spanish baby bowtie & buggy - I also have a MoC UK pose bowtie).

    IDW G1 comics

I noticed that lately, the IDW have been putting G1 ponies in FIM comics as cameo's or sometimes have small speaking roles. Which makes the comics awesome as I loved seeing my childhood ponies in there. Since IDW have also made Ghostbusters, Jem and the Holograms, and G1 Transformers, wouldn't it be awesome if IDW can make a reboot G1 comics like they did with Jem and other 80's cartoons? Now I know that G1 already has their own comics made in the 80's but they are hard to find, even on E-Bay. I only found the Argentinian version but it's not in English(and it's quite expensive along with shipping as it's in a different country) so I can't read it. If Hasbro allows IDW to do a reboot of G1 comics, they could use the D&D style or something similar and redo the Rescue at Midnight Castle story because as much as I love that TV special, it was too rushed and the ending sucked(they never gave the Prince a name nor why Megan was 'chosen' to save the Dream Valley, etc.). If the IDW can do a remake comic version of it, it would be awesome and maybe they could put the FIM characters as cameo's like FIM did before. I really hope that someday, IDW can do a reboot of G1 MLP comics based on the series but with better story-line and character development. What do you guys think? If your not a fan of it, it's cool too. It's just my wishful thinking because IDW was able to do on Jem, Ghostbusters, and Transformers so I was hoping they can do the same on G1 MLP. It would be really cool if that were to happen.

    G1 G4 crossover comic

Anyone know of a G1 G4 crossover come or fanfic?
  12. Both have red hair (Catrina's is more orange, but I would say red if it was on a person, so... yeah...) Both use others to get what they want Both started out good Both turned evil for power Both turned evil before the events of the episode they took place Both used slavery Both were reformed in the end Both have an object as the source of power Both experienced physical transformation when they used said source. Both attempt murder Sunset Shimmer and Catrina are very similar. So what do you think?

    Regular show in MLP:G1

Some of you would call MLP:G1 crap, but how many times better would MLP:G1 be if Megan, Molly, and Danny were replaced by the park crew of Regular Show and what would the park crew do to everypony? I envision that in "Rescue at Midnight Castle", Mordecai would ask why Tirek wants to bring out eternal night and Benson will tell the Moochick to shut up and just get to the Rainbow of Light. Pops would ride Firefly up to Tirek and wrestle him. The Rainbow of Darkness gets knock out of Tirek's hand and Rigby gets chased around by Tirek and/or his minions. The Park crew rush out to get the Rainbow of light while the Rainbow of Darkness is in Rigby's hands and Tirek gets killed off. And we get his gem: Rigby: So Tirek's dead, right? Bowtie: Yep, that's the last we'll see of him. Rigby: So what do we do with this thing? Flush it down the toilet? Moochick: No, we must lock it away, so no one may use it for their evil deeds. Skips: I think I got a better idea. And then the Park Crew pour some gasoline on the Rainbow of Darkness and put a match on it.
  14. So after Tirek returned for the season 4 finale, many people were wondering if we would see more revamped characters. Although many people argued that it was just a one off, this has turned out to be false as Smooze has been confirmed to return for the upcoming and super exciting season 5. So earlier today, I was just thinking. What other characters could be revamped? I mean don't get me wrong, the show was awful, but I think that some of the characters were really interesting, or could be made interesting. I'm going to list 3 revamps which I think could work in G4, and add something cool and new to the show. Smooze isn't a big villain, and I like it that way. I don't think this series needs another main villain who's a revamp. Scorpan: Now Scorpan is the most obvious one because not only is he confirmed to exist in this universe, but the development he had in Twilight's Kingdom suggests that he will be explored in future seasons. This guy could make an awesome character. I heard on Derpy News one time that Starswirl the Bearded is going to be making his appearance at the right place at the right time, but I feel that Scorpan (Starswirl's close friend) should return first so we can get more hype for Starswirl. With him maybe telling stories of their great adventures. I can't see this revamp happening this season as were already getting A LOT of unbelievable arcs and stuff answered. I think that season 5 is going to be the best season yet by miles. However, I think Scorpan is more likely to be season 6 or the 2017 movie. This version will of course be Tirek's brother, and is highly likely to be a magic draining being like Tirek. He may be a prince of his foreign land though. General Firefly: Whilst not as apparent as Scorpan, Firefly exists in this universe too. She was the founder of the Wonderbolts a long time ago, and assembled them and made them the greatest flyers in Equestria as explained in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3. I think the best way to reintroduce this character would be if the mane 6 went back in time, and Firefly gave Rainbow Dash tips on how to become a Wonderbolt, and then she used them and succeeds. This would be really epic, and would be a great ending and pay off to Rainbow's series long arc. Just my thoughts, but I think this is the best and only real way to revamp this character. Sea Ponies: Now this fanbase has been wanting these guys for ages, and I think this would be really cool. They look iconic, memorable, and classy. Ponies underwater is just a badass idea. I think the time for this is season 5, when we take a look at all of Equestria. I hope to see them this season. We haven't seen any concept art, but I think it's still probable for them to make a return. DHX must know we want them.

    Connecting the Generations

I have been thinking and I did some digging. I looked everywhere for an answer but could not find one. So, I decided to make my own. I think I might have a theory of how all the generations of MLP are ACTUALLY a timeline. Yeah, that's right, a timeline. I'm pretty sure many of you are giving this thread a weird and doubtful look, but hear me out. Generation one has a fantasy feel to it and features humans. Yes, humans were once apart of the same world as the ponies, but something must have happened to them. You might all think that this is impossible and that humans were never in their world, but it actually isn't. Think about it. The humans could have been apart of the pony world for as long as they have been there, but many of the creatures their need food to survive. Seeing as this is a fantasy world with mythological creatures, the humans could have been killed off. Or some incurable disease wiped them out. The humans disappearing is a huge mystery. Maybe they are still around. Maybe they are not. Generation two has a more modern feel to it. The ponies in this act and behave much like humans do in our world. Complete with houses that look like ours, cars, and electricity. Their cities and towns are built much like our own. It is possible for the humans to have been around to help urbanize the ponies and themselves. Then after that, they might have died out, or just simply moved on to a different location. Generation three picks up right after generation two. The layout is much the same as the previous generation, with a few add-on's here and there. And some stuff taken away. So this one doesn't need much explanation. The only thing I have for this one is the lack of pegisi and unicorns. Yes, they are in this one, but not as much as the previous and the next. What happened between generation three and four takes a turn for the worse. Seeing as how the unicorn and pegisi population was on a decline, the earth ponies rose in influence and power. The latter two could not handle being under the rule of earth ponies and left. Leaving the once proud and beautiful cities and towns to crumble. Without the magic of the unicorns, the earth ponies were unable to repair the building or manufacture other materials. This caused the ponies to revert back to much simpler times. One where there was no electricity, no cars or big buildings. This is where generation four comes into play. The next and final generation (so far), Generation four. This one takes time between the two before it takes place. We already know that the three tribes on ponies came together after much hate and founded Equestria. Its the time before all this. The time where all pony population was declining. Coming to the verge of extinction. With only a few hundred from each tribe remained. After centuries of not contacting each other, the world shifts off balance. Harmony is at a loss and the pony tribes come together for an agreement. This is where the Hearths Warming Story picks up and is spoken from generation to generation. But hey! Its just a theory! Thanks for taking your time to read this post. Let me know if you agree or disagree with this and tell me why. Post them in the comments below!! By the way, Merry Christmas!
  16. For anyone that's watched MLP and Friends, it expands the G1 world with an oddly diverse group of characters. Out of those ponies, which ones would be most like the Mane Six in personality?

Squirk is Love Squirk is Life
  18. So I can't be the only one who loves both G1 and G4 on here, and godness knows there's plenty of G1 I'd like to add. What aspects of past generations would you guys like to see appear in G4? Personally, I'd like to see more nods to G1. A tapestry depicting Meagan, Firefly, and all the rest would be cool, but something stronger is still more appealing. A real explanation for why the Rainbow Bridge isn't there anymore, or at least a history connecting G1's cartoon to G3's, hopefully involving the G2 toyline, for instance.
  19. I've finally reached the end of the G1 series, so I'm ready to share my final thoughts(in case anyone actually cares, though I'm not expecting anyone to). For what it's worth, I like the series. I don't think it's nearly as good as FiM, but it's enjoyable enough that I was able to get through it. It does have its problems, of course. It takes a while for the show to establish recurring characters. When it does, the series becomes much more engaging IMHO, but it doesn't happen right away. The music blows across the board, with maybe one or two exceptions, and even then I don't think it's that great, yet songs happen to be a big part of the series. The show ends abruptly, with no closure, but I guess that can be forgiven since it is an episodic series with few recurring plot threads. Anything to do with male ponies creates glaring plot holes. The series does have its strong points though. Most of the villains are engaging, which is evident right from the start. The characters have engaging personalities, and there is plenty of conflict to keep things interesting. If nothing else, they're adorable and easy to watch. There are a couple nice touches, such as the baby ponies getting a little older in season 2, though why they couldn't just be referred to as the young ponies, or as the fillies instead of the first tooth ponies is beyond me. There is at least some creativity in the premise and plot of the various episodes. While I don't think the writing is quite on par with the best of FiM, I will commend the ability of this show's writing staff to fit a story into a single 9 to 11 minute episode at times, and only have a couple moments feel rushed max, if any. All in all, this series gets a pass in my book. For the time being my journey through the past of MLP is still underway. I'm moving on to Pony Tales, which I've been warned is not nearly as good, but I guess I'll find out for myself soon enough.

    Redesigns of Tirek

1st of all, sorry if this is shouldn't be in Show Discussion, which I suspect it shouldn't. As we all know, in the S4 finale an evil villain from the very first MLP generation returned, Tirek, the Master of Midnight Castle. In this topic I'm going to post a big amount of amazing fanart I've found that was before and after the S4 finale, about this villain. Most of them are impressive and very unique. Which will be your favourite? The original, Lord of Darkness himself. The revamped version, much more muscular and more animal-looking than his ancestor. One if not the first redesign of the characters done by the artist peachiekeenie. Made by Andre_Ma. This one has more goat-like horns. Freakiest one so far. That face is just creepy, and that muscular body and those deformed horns, this one looks like a true devil. Made by Solomen. This one is made to be a more humanistic good Tirek. I don't like it. Made by Haretrinity. This one reminds me of old Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCracken cartoons, which were mostly gold. However, he looks very weird and way too much of a good guy. Made by Atomic Kitten. Even though Tirek here looks pretty bad-ass, the artist decided to make him a bull. What the crap. Made by Cheshiremoon7 Oh my holy jesus, he looks wonderful. Like an aztec mythological creature. He reminds me of Aku, from Samurai Jack a lot, though... That horse body is WAY too small. Made by: AWildDrawfagAppears <--- Check him out! Here he looks human, but very devious. I don't really like this design. He is way too normal for someone who represents the Devil. Made by: Shellnekoconeko This one looks very menacing, but he looks too much of a brute, at least for me. Made by: gojira007. Tirek appears in Leon_Z's comic "MLP: Pony Wars", where he fights princess Celestia. His design as a shadow-ish creature is not that original, but he looks very threatening. A G4 redesign of Tirek and Megan by Ghost-Peacock. Tirek looks very weird. I don't understand why here Megan is a donkey... Most bad-ass Tirek redesign I've seen so far. He looks like a Balrog, what's not to love about him here? Made By: Cyrilunicorn So, that's all I've got. Which one is your favourite? Do you think Tirek would be more bad-ass in any of this redesigns? Do you know any of the previous artists? Did you like Tirek, G1/G4?
  21. I think one of the good things (of MANY) in this finale was Discord's relationship with Tirek. They are both villains from two totally different eras of thinking and it shows. Tirek evokes a very satanic image; the horns, cloven hooves, red skin, corrupting good, imprisoned in Hell etc. This was typical of the time he was made. Look at his counterparts Mum-Ra or Skeletor. At the time, the big fear was what was classically related to death and the infernal or demonic. Discord, inspired by Q, is more geared toward the existential horror that came with the new millennial resurgence of Lovecraftian themes and ideas. His hodgepodge appearance, inexplicable powers, and the unsettling atmosphere he creates all evoke something similar to Nyarlathotep. Further hammering the contrast home is how they are introduced and what they do to their victims. Tirek is introduced in a dark alleyway, obscured by shadow, and his true nature, cloaked. His first line is whispered insidiously, claiming a pony's magic and cutie-mark (perhaps symbolic of their soul?) as his own. Discord is introduced by casually altering the dimensions of his environment, his antics almost playful. His speeches though, reveal dark and twisted truths to his audience, the break or make them question their very purpose of existence. When the two team up, it's almost like a mythological crossover version of the Joker and Red Skull team up.

This is my OC, Visual Spectrum, as a G1 pony. How do you think he looks? Do you have a G1 picture of your OC?

    From the Sun Colt Version

What do you think of this colt version of "From the sun?" I personally prefer the colt version, but I want to know what you think. Yes, I gender swapped Rose Dust (G1 Princess Celestia)
  24. ...and it was sooo epic. Even the songs were really good. Rescue at Midnight Castle somewhat compares to the two-part episodes of MLP. It opens up with a semi-utopian society, which in a matter of seconds (in Rescue at Midnight Castle) can turn into a disastrous kingdom ruled by an evil villain In all seriousness, Rescue at Midnight Castle is a really great G1 episode. But again, the company responsible for MLP wanted to attract more girls, which is why they came up with the G2, G3 (which I can't stand) and G3.5(a baby version of G3). So, what did you think of Rescue at Midnight Castle? In case you haven't watched it, here's the link to the full episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-Ll5zaPcIE
  25. Just watched this video from MLP analyst Bronycurious, well known for his very in-depth look at FiM episodes and the world of MLP itself, but here he takes a look G1 show My little pony tales, and has quite a bit to say about it on how it, despite being from the same franchise, stands in stark contrast to FiM. Check it out and tell me what you think. Are Curious's views too harsh? Are they spot on? Did any of you who watched the show ever think the same things?
