  1. My local station just got permission to stop censoring music, so they can get away with playing songs that cuss constantly and not get in trouble. It's selection is pretty good too. Probably would give it an 8 -10; it still needs to work on getting local artists and less popular bands (preferably international) in their lineup.
  2. Here is Sing, Sing, Sing from Benny Goodman on the Organ. A Patreon Request. Enjoy. 😊 Special Thanks to the following patrons for supporting me on Patreon: [Ultimate Fan] Juke Denton [Hardcore Fan] Austin Spendlove (Requestor Shout-out) [Moderate Fan] James Flores If you enjoy my content as much as they do and myself, then join them here:
  3. A new month means a new song! This is my first crack at DnB.
  4. On this valentines / hearts and hooves / singles awareness day, have a mellow track.
  5. Hey everybody! long time no post. I wanted to show off this collab with PegasYs (with vocals by Heather Feathersong)! Get rid of the January Blues below:
  6. A long time ago, there was this show called Soul Train on T.V. during the 70's. I randomly found reruns of it on a cable channel a few years ago. I fell in love with it! The people, the dancing, the bright lights... the music are all so magical. I collected old dvds of the show and kept them safe for years. Here are my favorite clips: If you don't know me by now and Me and mrs. jones and Line Dance Sometimes... I wish I could time travel to the 70's and be with these people... what about you all?
  7. This month's song is an electro swing tune rushed to completion for vinyl and octavia day on EQD. Its a little rough around the edges, but I still feel pretty good about it. you can get an mp3 download through youtube or an HQ download through ponyfm
  8. This is my latest piece: a jazz piano song with some chillhop thrown in. I was channeling spike's post-valentines depression with donuts, extra sprinkles. free download link on the youtube page, and HQ download on ponyfm
  9. I've written a smooth jazz song in celebration of buying an awesome new guitar. I'm always up for collaborating if anyone fancies it.
  10. Just in time for Halloween, here is a musical celebration of Nightmare Night with swingin' jazz and erie orchestra! Download this song:
  11. So guys, inspired by the latest episode of MLP 'Rarity Investigates' I got to wondering... What are some of the best detective film noirs? I want the whole deal, that kind that TV shows parody all the time. I'm talking black and white, femme fatalles, smooth trumpety jazz, a main character monologue-ing and narrating all his thoughts, drama, sexiness, the lot. While we're at it, name me some composers/artists who specialize in that kind of jazz style. I've wanted to listen to that kind of style for ages but don't know where to look.
  12. Hey everyone! I've recently posted a blog entry in which I showed a simple and quickly recorded version of my idea for an MLPforums theme song! I thought people might be interested to see what I'm working on, so I decided to share it here as well. I'm still thinking about the lyrics, and I'd love to see if some of you have suggestions for it. Critique on the music is very welcome, but keep in mind that the recording quality is bad because I did it with my phone. Considering it's a phone recording I think it's pretty good! I'll make sure to release some sheet music and a longer version with maybe a bridge or a longer verse soon. I'll be posting it here and on said blog, so if you want to stay tuned go ahead and follow my blog. I'd be very grateful if you did. I also will be posting other projects there, which will be more than just live shitty live recordings, but also high quality gigs with my band and some FL studio works.
  13. Hi, everypony! The Equestria Big Band is forming! We are a small group of musicians who are looking to translate our favorite tunes from Equestria into a style that we love. We aim to produce high-quality recordings from well-written arrangements, and eventually build the project up to promote and be promoted by many other great MLP projects around the globe. For myself, I love creating something that I can gift to the community to enjoy, and I'm a big fan of the fanbase taking command and ownership of something like this. (For those who need to see some of my work, click the linked words!) Below is a list of positions in the band that are open to apply for. We will most likely find more role in the future that we'll need filled. Open Positions - 1 drummer - 1 jazz guitar player - 1+ trumpet player - 1 alto saxophonist - 1 tenor saxophonist - 1 baritone saxophonist - Additional roles (visual/graphics artists, etc...) - Other musicians who would like to be featured or feature our project - YouTubers, Artists, People who want to help promote - [We'll probably find more positions as we move forward] Completed/Working Arrangements This is a reference so that no one wastes any time working on arrangements of song that are already done! Equestria Big Band - Current Members This just takes up a lot of space! ALL joining performers MUST have decent recording equipment. I hold my personal production to a pretty high standard and while I want to be as inclusive as possible, I definitely want to keep a high level of quality. Admission IS on a try-out basis, so we can't guarantee that you'll be in if you apply/try out. For those who join: You'll likely be playing multiple parts and might take some improv solos. Note: If you wish or choose to join, you have to be willing to practice to get good, put up with having to perform multiple takes/retakes, take criticism, play possibly difficult charts and parts by perhaps good arrangers, and maybe not receive a lick of payback beyond lots of compliments and your own feelings of self-accomplishment! The way I see it, Twilight is definitely a tenor sax. Rainbow probably is first trumpet, and Rarity is on bari sax. Applejack is a trombone. Fluttershy would probably be keys/piano. Pinkie is on drums. Luna is most likely on bass. Join the band!
  14. So I've decided to record one of the jazz standards I've learned. It's one that I can play for quite a while now already, but if people are interested in watching some more recordings of this stuff then I'd be happy to record more recent things. I start to mess up a little near the end because I made a mistake during my improvisation, but I don't think it's too bad. Not my best work, but it'll pass
  15. This is an announcement to all users who currently own their own channel which they have put work into. Recently there has been a technical issue occurring on eqtv where all data of a channel becomes corrupted, this is what happened to the main cmc_clubhouse channel. It is highly recommended that you save the data of your channel in order to restore your channel in-case it gets corrupted. You can do so by -Saving your current playlist -Exporting your emotes and chat filters -Recording your channel CSS -Recording your channel options and permissions. We don't fully understand what is causing this problem, so there isn't a way for us to tell what channels it might hit. It could effect none, or a whole bunch. If you have put work into making your channel, make sure you back it up with the above steps. If your channel does become corrupt please inform me via Forum PM. We at eqtv realise this may cause stress in the face of certain channel death, to keep you tranquil, smooth jazz is being deployed in 3, 2, 1
  16. Hi everyone! I'm working a big recording project with some others from around here - we are forming a big band! We'll be writing and performing various jazz arrangements of your favorite songs from Equestria. We are looking for at least one of each of the following saxophone players; alto, tenor; and ONE bari. If you're interested in being part of a fun, cool project (and learning experience!), click the link below for more details, and reply there or send me a message and we'll get you set up! JOIN HERE! Thanks so much for looking!
  17. Hey, guys. As probably no one here knows, I am a musician, primarily a trombonist. I dig jazz a lot and I'm wondering if anyone else around here does? Got any favorite tunes? Favorite instrumentalist or arranger? Do YOU play in a groups or just alone? I personally am a sucker for JJ Johnson (tried to buy one a collection of his albums but accidently spent all of my money on MLP Comics... oops) and the arrangements of Neal Hefti, so basically anything Count Basie. How about you?
  18. Hey there everyone! I haven't really posted before on the creative resources board, but I could really use some help. I've been working on this one song for quite a while now. I'm not sure what it's going to be about in the end, I have only fooled around a bit with the lyrics, but I think the arrangement is pretty solid already. However, I can't seem to finish it. Ever time I start working on the song again I feel like there's parts that don't sound right or that some things are missing. The fact that I'm not very experienced and make a lot of mistakes that I find a few days after I've made them doesn't help that either :c So, I call upon the community of wonderful artists and creative minds to give some opinions, share some ideas, give some advice and all that kind of great stuff. If you don't like it, it's alright to tell me too, just be a little sublte about it, and try to tell me what you don't like about it. So to start off here's the most recent version of the song. As I said I don't really know what it's going to be about (probably something MLP related) so I just named it kablam :3 It's an awful sound, but that's because I don't have proper notation software installed on my PC yet an noteflight has nothing better to offer :c (you can view the scores with music on noteflight if you register.) Big problem with this one is that the main couplet isn't very interesting yet because I don't know what to do with the melody or rythmic section. That's why I kept it simple there. But for clarification, that's where most of the lyrics are supposed to go This version is a little older, but it might give you an idea of where I'm coming from and what the process behind making all this was There's a lot of wrong notes in this piece. Eventually it became too much work and I am too lazy to go through the entire thing to take them out. With this one I have worked on the melodies a little, but they aren't great yet. I just can't come up with something better Heres the lyrics I came up with. Nothing amazing story-wise, but the rhyme and the amount of syllables are pretty great if I may say so myself. Biggest problem is that there's almost no room to breathe with this melody. So once more, please give me your ideas, opinions, anything really. I need some inspiration otherwise this will become another addition to my "never to be finished songs" bin. Thanks on beforehand :3
  19. This is an oldies thread. There are many like it, but this is mine. Post your favorite swing/jazz/big band music from that most splendid of eras, the 40s. The kind of stuff you would groove to if you just came home from fighting in France and wanted to dance with your sweetheart 'till the sun went down. Or if you just listened to the final game of the world series with your family, and wanted to sit back and relax with a nice song over dinner. We'd also love to hear some stuff from the 30s, considering that was generally considered to be the genesis of the genre, but try not to post anything older than the mid 20s, and try to make a judgement call when posting anything from the 50s or newer. Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra would be great to post, but Elvis probably belongs in another thread. We're looking for big band here, not rock and roll. And, as a final note, I'm sure most of us have played Fallout. So before you post I don't want to set the world on fire, try to think of a less well known song than the ones featured in those games. Maybe you could dig up a lesser-known song from The Andrews Sisters, or something from Benny Goodman. Let's try to give people new experiences, and introduce them to music they probably haven't heard before. Anywho, allow me to start: But don't let me hog all the fun! Post everything you've got.
  20. In honor of tomorrow's episode, "Somepony to Watch Over Me".... (Yes, there are a couple places at the end where I sang louder than the system could handle, ("clipping" to the audio-tech-savvy crowd,) but I figured, "What the hey, it's a live recording and it's just for fun." ) ~Dream ___________ "Someone to Watch Over Me" © 1926 George and Ira Gershwin Parody sung by Amadhia (#Dreamsong)
  21. I'm too dang lazy to see if this thread has already been made, and if it has I hope the two merge. I feel this is necessary, though. Any kind of jazz is accepted. Modern, smooth, big band, swing, dixieland, latin, rock, etc. I'll start off with the if-you-haven't-heard-this-you're-on-the-wrong-thread piece.
  22. So me, my band and my music teacher made this epic composition (it was mostly the teacher for the actual composing, but we helped :3) and we recorded it! I just wanted to share this with you guys, hopefully you will like it c: It's in the attachments.. Please don't go around and post this everywhere. Just keep it here and keep it small, it's still my teacher's creation... copyrights and stuff. If the attachment doesn't work, here's a dropbox link: Detante.mp3
  23. A jazzy little piece for all you Rarity fans, I only used vocal clips from Daniel Ingram's "Art of the Dress" and I wrote everything else.
  24. This is something I've wanted to do for a while, and now I'm doing it. My top 10 albums of all time. You may be able to guess what's going to be on here, but I'd like to surprise a lot of you. Anyone who knows jazz has to know Miles Davis. There's no way around that. His impact on the genre is so immense that I can't even begin to put it into words. He was at the front of so many movements in the style, from the bebop of the 1950's all the way into the 70's and 80's, pioneering modal jazz in "Kind of Blue" in '59 and a strange fusion of jazz and rock music ten years later with "In a Silent Way," among countless others. This is where "Bitches Brew" comes in. This long, sprawling, 90-minute experience is the divider between the events leading up to Miles' fusion years and the albums that expanded on these ideas later. Compared to its predecessor, "In a Silent Way," this record has much less of a defined groove and much, much less of the melodic and soothing atmosphere. One could say that Miles went pretty much all out when he was putting these songs together, and getting all the performers he got on one single track. Every track has at least two drummers and two keyboard players playing on it simultaneously. The names on here range from Wayne Shorter (saxophonist extraordinaire), Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul (piano virtuosoes), and John McLaughlin (crazy guitarist), in addition to Miles' sparse yet energetic trumpet sound. This is worth mentioning, since a lot of his playing up until this point was in the lower range and much more subdued, but he tends to go more all-out when he has the forefront. If anything is noteworthy on "Bitches Brew," it's how much post-production went into every one of these songs. Looping, tape delays, re-sequencing, et cetera. In a genre like jazz, this was something that wasn't even considered in the creative process, but it only serves to make every track more interesting than they may have been otherwise. I can't say much more about this record, other than that even if you're not a jazz fan, give it a shot. These tracks are really long sometimes, but they're far from boring. This is my definitive piece in the Miles Davis catalog, and I hope it can eventually be the same way for you. 1. Pharoah's Dance 9.5/10 2. Bitches Brew 10/10 3. Spanish Key 9/10 4. John McLaughlin 9.5/10 5. Miles Runs the Voodoo Down 10/10 6. Sanctuary 10/10 Overall: 10/10 Stay tuned for numbers nine through one.
  25. I was just finishing another track for Freewave and he just happened to casually mention, "How do you feel about doing a song about King Sombra to the tune of the old James Bond song, 'Goldfinger'?" Well, I've been doing a bit of study on the Crystal Empire episodes for the radio play I'm writing/producing for and I was like, "OMG!!! That _totally_ fits!!!" I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do the brassy, original vocals justice, (Shirley Bassey sang on the original track and... oh... my... goodness is she a great singer! O.o ) Anyway... Freewave and I worked on the lyrics together, and he put together an _amazing_ musical arrangement for it! I added some flute for a retro kind of feel, and tried my best to sing my heart out for Twilight battling King Sombra, (and Celestia and Luna a thousand years before her). Freewave made a powerful PMV to go along with it, in the theme of the old James Bond movie openers featuring art from a lot of great brony artists! (And I'm sooo glad he put into his text that he feels that though challenged, that Twi would eventually prove victorious over Sombra. ...I _really_ feel for Twi. <3 ) Freewave's Pony.FM is: Cover art by Atryl heeee! More songs to come from collabs with Freewave! It are _awesome_ working with him! <3
