    General Online Games

Just curious and in the market to try a new game out myself! does anyone here bother to play any video games online, or any mmorpgs :)?
  2. ERB (Epic Rap Battles) is a youtube channel that puts two figures from history (fictional or not) together, and those figures face off in a rap battle. The newest one they've done is Harry Houdini vs David Copperfield. , so I put up a poll about that one. So, I have to ask: Do you like ERB? Which one is YOUR favorite battle? Also, who won in that one? My favorite is either Steve Jobs V Bill Gates (Steve one that one), Frank Sinatra V Freddie Mercury (Freddie won that one!), or Artists vs Turtles (the Artists won for me!)
  3. There are many games that I wish would never end but alas, they have ended and they've been over for a while now. I wracked my brain for the past hour for good games I miss playing. Here are a few of them: There are so many more games I miss. The ones above are the games I miss the most at this moment. What about you all?
  4. One of my biggest peeves in reviewing is giving something a calculated score, because it's very difficult if not impossible to reduce the quality to such a mark. Plus, whenever many people see a score, they tend to not read the review at all and rely on the score/grade itself as proof for purchase. Nonetheless, if I were to grade the following based on the following items below, they would be the followings below the first rule. The grades are respective and separated to the following categories: Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4 Season 5 Season 6 Season 7 MLP: The Movie Season 8 The Best Gift Ever Equestria Girls series, RR animated shorts, specials, and IDW comic/annual Main Comic Series* Micro-Series Friends Forever If you want to see my order of every FIM episode from best to worst (with grades), click here. 5. Which are/is the shows that were cancelled and you wanted to cry when you found out? Personally I hate the fact that I'll never get to know how Spider-Man Unlimited ends because it got cancelled and last episode of season 1 never aired, so it eneded in the worst way possible, with a season that never ended. Also, Terra Nova, I wish the show could be continued but may be I'm asking for too much.

    Movies/TV Favorite movie scene?

This question is a pretty straightforward one, what's your favorite movie scene? And for what reasons? My all time favorite movie scene comes from the movie V for Vendetta, when the citizens rise up and overthrow the oppressive government. The scene is best summed up in this comment from the video, "The way I see it, it's a symbol for the power of the people. V doesn't even exist, he is the revolutionary ability inside all of us. What blew up Parliament was the masses at the gates, the bomb was just for show." Post your favorite movie scenes below, I'd love to see them!
  7. Unless you literally just sit in one position, thinking about nothing all day, we all have hobbies, and as we all know, our hobbies can evolve and change. What interests us as young adults most likely won't interest us when we reach our middle age, the same way that our interest differ from when we were children and now. With all of this said, sometimes we just move on from hobbies, whether it's on a positive or negative note. Unfortunately... we'll be talking about one of the more negative exits here. With all of this said... have you ever burned out on a hobby of yours? One day, you were enjoying the hell out of a hobby you were participating in, but the next thing you knew... you just weren't. If anything, you were starting to hate it. For me, I ended up being burned out on video games to the point where I barely play them anymore. Sure, I might be looking forward to the next Smash game on the Switch... but other than that, I really couldn't care less about gaming as a whole anymore. I don't know why, but not too long after I bought a Nintendo Switch, I just couldn't bring myself to play many of the games. No joke: of the 10 Switch games that I own, I only finished 4 of them. Even worse, of the aforementioned 10, I haven't even played 3 of them; I literally have not touched them yet (except for one, but it barely counts). So that means that I own 10 Switch games; Super Mario Odyssey, which I beat. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I beat. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Which I beat. Skyrim, which I barely played. DOOM, which I played a little bit (great game, though; you should check it out). Sonic Forces, which I beat, but didn't like. Bayonetta 1 + 2, which I haven't touched yet. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which I haven't touched yet. Scribblenauts Showdown, which I played for 10 minutes and nearly threw in the garbage. And Pokken Tournament, which I played a little bit. Oh, and do I need to mention the 50$ that I wasted on a Pro Controller? With my little rant out of the way, have you ever been involved in a hobby so much... and then, over the passage of time, just stopped caring? I'm honestly wondering if anyone else has gone through what I have at this point.
  8. Hello and welcome to the discussion thread of all things Naruto! I, myself, am I huge fan of the series and I would love to hear your thoughts on it as well. Feel free to discuss everything about it!
  9. Games that you have played, that are unheard of by most, that you enjoy. Games that have been forgotten with time, or games that just never got noticed but are good or enjoyable. For me I'd say the game Scaler is pretty well forgotten, a game which I personally do enjoy :3

    Atheism - The Final Frontier

There's no question that we've made an enormous amount of social and scientific progress over the centuries, perhaps most of that progress being in the last half century or so. Even though the current political landscape and discourse can make us feel the contrary, things are definitely the best and most evolved that they've ever been in the history of our species. However, as I see it, there remains one major hurdle that desperately needs to be overcome in the near future: clearing up misconceptions about atheism, which is the purpose of this essay. Whether you are an atheist or not, we need to start having more honest conversations about the topic. We can still have disagreements, of course. People can disagree about the existence of a god(s), but do so in a civil way in which no one is portrayed as a villain. Here's the short of it: atheism is nothing more than a lack of a belief in a god, but an inordinate amount of people, still today, believe that atheism is some sort of immoral doctrine. This insanity has to stop. Let me explain this very plainly. Atheism is not a doctrine nor a dogma, it's not a belief "system", nor a choice. It simply means that one hasn't been convinced that a god exists. That's it. "I've seen the arguments for and the evidence against, I've read the books, and I'm simply not convinced that a god exists." Nothing more. And yet, it seems that there are still a lot of people who think that atheism is some sort of unethical, immoral, evil, dogmatic belief system, some sort of hedonistic chaos doctrine that says, "nothing matters, so let's all just have orgies willy nilly and kill each other." Nothing could be further from the truth. Atheists, by and large, belief that life matters a great deal. In fact, it is specifically because of the finality of death that we believe every moment is precious, but that's a larger tangent that I don't want to get into right now. The point is that atheism isn't a set of rules or some sort of satanic belief system. It just means one isn't convinced. If I handed you a copy of Harry Potter and said, "Now, do you believe that Lord Voldemort is real?", you would obviously say no. Even if the book itself said that every word was literally true, you probably still wouldn't be convinced. Not without evidence. What if I asked you if you believe in fairies? Unicorns? Dragons? You wouldn't be convinced of the existence of any of those without evidence. It's not outright impossible for any of those to exist, but we have no reason to believe they do. We've never seen a shred of evidence. So, you wouldn't be convinced. It's no different with respect to atheists and god(s). We're just not convinced. It's not a choice, and it's not an active rejection of any of the good teachings of god or the bible (of which there aren't many. :/ ) It's simply a position of looking at the bible and going, "Eh, I just don't see any evidence. I'm not convinced." Before continuing, I'd like to add that atheist are not dogmatic. We don't say that it's impossible for a god to exist, and absolutely nothing can change our minds. No, not at all. Quite the contrary. You show us some evidence, and our minds will be changed accordingly. If a god descends from the clouds and says, "Here I am," they by golly, I'll be a believer. I simply don't believe in things for no reason with no evidence. Not being convinced that a god exists is clearly an amoral belief--neither moral nor immoral. It has nothing to do with whether you're a good person or not, just as not being convinced that unicorns are real has nothing to do with morals. Arguably, not believing in a god often results in better morals because one must get their morals from themselves and other people, and modern people are far more moral, and far better arbiters of morality than an ancient book. Moreover, most religious people don't get the majority of their morality from their holy book. If they did, they'd be executing gays and stoning their children to death for back-talk. Religious people still get the vast majority of their morality from the other people in their culture, and that morality is a product of centuries of secular progress. For instance, figuring out that gay people are just people, and deserving of the same respect, rights, and compassion as everyone else, was the result of secular ideas and pressure. This realization didn't come from rereading and reinterpreting the bible. We have become more moral and more ethical throughout the ages because we are thinking beings with an innate ability to reason, to tell right from wrong, and improve our morality. Morality doesn't come from a god. It comes from us. But whether or not you believe in a god, it's time we stop thinking that atheism is inherently immoral. I chose the subtitle for this essay because there have been so many social hurdles that have been cleared, and are now commonplace and widely accepted, but atheism still has so far to go. In the not too distant past, the issue of the day was civil rights, racial equality and integration. Even though racism is still a problem, there is absolutely no comparison to how it was in the 1960's and prior. We've had a black president, interracial relationships are completely commonplace, and there's lots of black people in the entertainment industry, and in media, and has been for many years. Even though it's not perfect, I'd say we're basically past that hurdle. In my generation, the big issue has been homosexuality. I'd say we are by and large past that hurdle as well. We got gay marriage, and there's a quite a lot of gay representation in entertainment. I mean, you've got sitcoms like Will & Grace, you've got gay characters on shows and in movies, you've got entire LGBT networks, and hell, just the other day I say a jewelry commercial--y'know, one of these "a diamond is forever" things--that featured a lesbian couple. Sure, there's still lots of gay hatred and intolerance, but homosexuality is brazenly out there in the media, and most people seem cool with it. Most shows/movies/networks don't seem afraid to have a gay character. Most filmmakers or tv show producers, or game developers for that matter, don't seem to be scared that if they include a gay character, they'll lose their audience. It's not an issue. But atheism hasn't made much headway, here. Atheism is still kept in the shadows, and having an openly atheist character is taboo. The only openly atheist characters on tv are edgy cartoon characters like Brian Griffin and Rick Sanchez. The makers of these shows get away with it, in part because of their target audience, but also, I believe, because people have an easier time stomaching this position from a cartoon character who isn't real. I suspect that if live action sitcom characters were openly atheist, people would have a completely different and objectionable reaction. I suspect they'd become soured, start hating the show and the character, and possibly even conflate the character with the actor, thinking that they are immoral and such. Cartoon characters don't seem to have this problem as they are so much further removed from the real world. Personally, I think it's tragic that the Big Bang Theory guys are not openly atheist. Of all people, they absolutely should be, and yet with some of them, they just don't mention it, and with others, they are "culturally" religious--they identify as a particular religion, but don't seem to really practice it. I have no doubt that the writers felt that openly atheist characters would drive the audience away. This is absolutely shameful. It is time that we have atheists represented in entertainment at the same level as gays. One of the only openly atheist characters in television history was Mike from All in the Family, a show that was far ahead of its time. Atheism needs to be commonplace in the media. The misconceptions about it will probably never stop until people start seeing atheists in the media and realizing that they're just people, not a cult of vampires or something. We need to start talking honestly about atheism. We need to stop tiptoeing around the word, saying it hushed tones, and being afraid to admit that we're not convinced that a god exists. Regardless of one's beliefs about a god, it needs to be understood that atheism absolutely is not something unnatural, sinister, or immoral. You may have noticed that I always used the phrase "a god", not just, "god", like a name. I do this intentionally to raise awareness that the Abrahamic god is not unique, special, or different from the thousands of other gods that have been created throughout history, thousands of which are still worshipped today. The god of the bible is just one god--one among many. Every believer is an atheist with respect to every other god that's ever been worshipped. We non-believers just take it one god further.
  11. Hi everybody, As some of you might know I write films about people with physical disabilities which you can read about in my thread here https://mlpforums.com/topic/97063-my-short-films-about-physical-disability/ A lot of my writing is inspired by My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Lauren Faust. After a recent post in that thread it was suggested by one of the mods that I make a blog to share an article I wrote(so I hope it is okay to post it this way, let me know if it isn’t. I'm NOT trying to advertise to get traffic to my site, just share with my brony friends!) here http://disabledspectator.com/disabled-filmmaker-margot-cole/ Article text below
  12. (I hope this is the correct forum section. Sooo many different sections... *head spins*) Personally, I love it when shows or games mention or hint at other series. Especially, if it's funny. The Simpsons do that all the time. I'm curious which shows reference MLP. Can you think of some that did? I came up with the idea for this thread, when a friend told me, that there's a game that let's you talk about Brony conventions. I thought he was joking (He sometimes makes fun of my love for MLP, but he gets just as many phrases back from me about his own quirks ). Well, turns out he wasn't joking this time. It's called "Disobey Me!" and litereally has a screenshot of it on its website: There's a section in this game where you chat with this bunny character and I guess you can somehow start a talk about Bronies. ...if I knew how. I either end up screwing up the conversation or talking about Japanese toilets (the game's a bit weird sometimes). So here's my question to you: Have you encountered shows or other media mentioning MLP in some way? (Maybe the Simpsons already did and I just missed it, dunno). (Also, if you played Disobey Me, can you tell me how to get to this section of the chat? It's kinda driving me crazy atm and I want to know what it has to say about Bronies) Edit: Just noticed that Google doesn't find the game for some reason. You can find the demo on Youtube though.
  13. The title is pretty self explanatory. I have seen threads about channels you have unsubscribed from and your favorite channels but this thread it to talk about channels you have discovered recently or have subscribed to recently. I have a few people in mind that I will mention but I will wait to see if this thread gets any posts first before I share mine. So yeah.
  14. Hamilton is a musical created by Lin-Manuel Miranda about Alexander Hamilton (a.k.a the greatest person that ever lived, dammit!) I'm creating this topic so others who have an obsession with it can discuss it/just gush about it if you'd like. Have fun! (If you haven't listened to Hamilton, first of all, what the heck have you been doing? Second, a full playlist is available on SoundCloud and YouTube, it's pretty easy to find) I haven't seen the show but I've listened to it all, and it's damn amazing.

    General Media Tips for youtube?

So I have been involved in you tube for quite some time now. I have three Youtube Channels. I started in 2012 when I went to Japan to work, and started doing videos just for fun (Which is still what I do) So my travel channel has a few thousand views. 44 Subs. Not really that impressive. I think I make about $1.40 a month off of it. Last year I started two extra channels. One was just public domain audio books And I donate the money from that channel to Charity. I have about 7 subs and a few thousand views on that one. T:hen I have my third one.. Started last year. And its.. Well its just a crappy little youtube channel. I have done Let'sPlays for Fallout 4, Stardew valley and a few others. Right now I just put up a Stardew valley thing once a week. And I have done some stuff where I just talk about Nerdy Topics. Movies I went to see. Books, stuff like that. And this channel has 203 subs and about 37k views. Almost all of those I got in a span of 4 days a few months ago on a little review of StarTrek... That's it.. And I kind of want to pay more attention to this channel, but I really don't know how.. Because I really have been getting no response to the channel.... I have no ideal what the people watching like? And I need to learn to make /edit videos better but have no ideal where to start. _ Really same thing with Twitch to be honest. _ Anyone interested in working with me or helping me out. I can do the same. really all I need is some one who knows a little bit to look at my stuff and give me advice. I would not mind some examples also. It would also be interesting (We might already have this) To start a place on the forums to share our work? Maybe, maybe not...
  16. So, guilty pleasures. We all have them. Is there a movie with a plot that makes no sense, but the main character is absolutely dreamy? Really catchy song by an artist you usually hate? Book that you can't bring yourself to finish because it's THAT BAD, but there's a scene that's written so strikingly that you keep returning to it? Character you can't get enough of, even if in real life you'd most likely want to strangle them? Gimme all those things that you like, even if you can't justify even to yourself why!
  17. If you were a character from an anime of your choice, would you be a protagonist or antagonist? Why?
  18. Not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but it seems to me that the recent trend in critically acclaimed shows is to take an established movie genre or theme and make a dark and lurid arc-driven series out of it. Following that trend, here are my predictions for the next ten years of television. Game of Thrones (in space - possibly based off C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy) Game of Thrones (steampunk edition) Game of Thrones (cyberpunk edition) Game of Thrones (Napoleonic edition) Discworld - The Series Doctor Who: Doctors 15 through 20 - (with a female and/or African Doctor) American series attempt at J-Horror (The Ring, The Grudge, etc.) Star Wars (bounty hunter based series) Alien - The Series
  19. If you were a character from an anime, would you be an antagonist or a protagonist? Why?

So Gawker, who are you going to tell they're dead now? Oh wait, you're the one who's dead!

    Movies/TV Underrated TV Shows

All right every pony. Is there a tv show that you like but it's either not that popular or is extremely hated. Well then this is the place to share these shows. here's mine: Total Drama:This one's honestly become a guilty pleasure for me as of lately, I know it's not the most original idea but it's got some funny references to keep me entertained. Dan vs.: I don't see that much talk about this show, it was pretty funny. Too bad it got canceled. The Amazing World of Gumball: The only argument I've seen against this show is that it's stupid. I personally think it's kind of funny and I like how it uses different art styles. Anyway discuss away.

    Shipping the Mains

I like cartoons. You might have noticed. But there is a trend that sometimes drives me pretty nuts. Whenever you have a pair of main characters (of opposite gender or sometimes of the same gender), there is this tendency to somehow entangle them romantically. No matter how much ship tease the mains have with less central characters, it somehow seems that the two of them always end up together. Case in point... And it almost never works... unless the relationship upgrade happens at the very end of the story (e.g. Korrasami in Legend of Korra), or it's clear from the start that the two only have eyes for each other from the very beginning (e.g. Bob and Dot in ReBoot). Why does it work in the first instance? Because we can let our imaginations go wild. How will they interact from here on out? What problems will they solve together? What will the children look like? The possibilities become endless. If the story continues after the mains have hooked up, all that potential is necessarily pruned, since we see what canonically happens during the "happily ever after" phase. We get the real life that happens after the honeymoon, and really, who wants to see what Reality Ensues? Why does it work in the second instance? Because we see what they went through to be together. That's inspirational. They broke through all barriers to be together in the end. We feel that we too can become the kind of person who deserves the love of another compatible person, and that nothing will stop us! So, the upshot of all this? I've been watching Star vs The Forces of Evil. I don't want Star Butterfly and Marco Diaz to end up as a couple (like... ugh... KP and RS). They work better as Marco X Jackie, and Star X ???. Can't we just have two friends who kick ass together and remain simply friends?! Star vs is already slated for a second and third season. I hope Star and Marco can stay "friends who will do anything for each other" rather than mucking it up with unnecessary romantic feelings for each other. I ship (when I ship @ all) Marco X Jackie. Plus, Jackie is totally a secret mermaid. Anyhoo, stay sunny side up!
  23. I saw this article on EqD and it made me nervous. I like Robot Chicken and I watch it sometimes, which is why I got nervous, I know their kind of humor. I don't want them to completely insult MLP or the fandom. I don't know what they are going to do. These types of Adult Swim shows tend to have really gross humor and I'm afraid they will go for the perverted neckbeard stereotype. What do you think? Here is the link, http://www.equestriadaily.com/2016/03/robot-chicken-possibly-running-pony.html
  24. I am a big fan of Shonen Jump's hit anime, Naruto. So I decided to create a thread dedicated to discussing it!
  25. I'm talking about the dorm rooms that the teams sleep in, how do mixed-gender teams work sharing a room wise? Because wouldn't it be kind of awkward, do they have separate bathrooms or do they openly get changed in front of each other? Team RWBY I can understand because they are all girls but Team JNPR is mixed... Surely a school wouldn't mix females with males in the same room?
