  3. I'm planning on making a thrash metal tribute album to Friendship is Magic, celebrating the series' end. I pretty much have a blueprint for how it's gonna be, It's gonna be a satirical black comedy concept album and also a dedicatory album of my perspective of the FiM franchise and the fandom. I wasn't there when the whole thing started, but at least I can see its end right when it's happening, and this show inspired me that I regained ideas when I thought I was completely dried out for a while. I want to make something to commemorate it in a way that I can do. MLP is a unique and strange phenomenon, and I haven't seen anything like it in pop culture. The reason I was gravitated towards it in the first place was the complete dissonance between the adult fan base and the target audience. Lots of it made me laugh and question humanity at the same time, but when I started watching the show, I genuinely cared about the story and characters itself far more than I ever expected. I was pretty much cynical toward everything in my life, but the show reminded me of what good is to be a nice person and show hospitality and positive attitude towards someone else. Generally speaking, I think it made us all to allow ourselves to admit a puppy is cute. Watching a cartoon show aimed at young girls conflicts pretty much everything I was living up to, and it makes me crave intense music. It's my natural way to cope with an unfamiliar subject. So it's gonna have strong language, violent and grotesque imagery as the genre itself requires. The benchmark will be albums like Speak English or Die by Stormtroopers of Death, Pleasure to Kill by Kreator, Persecution Mania by Sodom, Bathory's self titled album, The Visitor by Indestructible Noise Command, Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? by Megadeth, Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, Bonded by Blood by Exodus, Ⅸ by Bulldozer, but not so much Sepultura as much as you might have expected. I don't expect it to be a triple-A well processed studio album like those I mentioned, it's gonna be a sloppy side project meant for fun. I only have one mic and a small amp, an electric guitar, a bass guitar and a laptop. The reason I'm posting this is to make it official and set a course that I can't hesitate any longer. (This is not a request or a solicitation.) I have some riff ideas and lyrical ideas, not fully developed yet, but maybe will be connected together later on and fully form as a complete song. Titles like English isn't my primary language, but hopefully it would bring an exotic vibe something like Teutonic thrash. Most songs will be original songs, but maybe I'll make a metal cover song from EQG. My deadline is before the season 9 Finale. Wish me luck! ※ I also want to clarify that I don't make any kind of music out of spite, the whole thing comes from my genuine love for the franchise. I usually don't explain myself or make lame excuses when making anything because it would be like a comedian explaining his own jokes. But just to prevent complete catastrophe which will end up offending the wrong kind of people who shouldn't be listening this kind of stuff in the first place and the whole project being inaccessible or me getting banned. There are way more people than I thought who doesn't get this kind of things, or there are some people who are dead set on being offended. Consider this album as a dark comedy parody project, and you will also find out that there was far more explicit contents out there around for a long time being famous.
  4. So i can't be the only one on here that listens to bands such as Morbid angel, Nile, Death and Decide can i? Of course not! So here is a thread for all who walk the left hand path to discuss brutal music. I'm Interested in what bands you are into and if you play in any bands then by all means, share your music!
  5. Yepsi pepsi, I made some riffs or whatever. I will probably improve it more later. Anyway, enjoy!
  6. Hey, I looked around and didn't see a thread that is your favorite band, while there is one for someone's favorite song this one is the band because i have a favorite song but it's not made by my favorite band
  7. This is part of a collaborative project I did with another youtuber. It is my first dabble into rock music and I had a lot of fun DL link and complete song are found on the youtube page
  8. So these types of challenges have been making the rounds on YouTube. Time to start one here I guess. You post a song that you think will get the next listener to headbang, headbob, toe tap or knee shake. They listen and if they do any of those things, they admit they've lost. If they stand still, they post their victory. Either way, they'll post the next song and try to do get the next listener to lose. Let us begin, with a classic.
  9. Hey guys, I've just found some amazing brony-metal band! This is not my music, but I just thought I would share it there...hope this not against the rules? Equestria Metallers - Feel the Harmony (2014) Tracklist: 1-Take That! 2-The Ponyville Metal Show (Part 1) 3-The Ponyville Metal Show (Part 2) 4-Discord's Making Chaos (Flutter On!) 5-Pinkie the Party 6-Faster than Lightning 7-Kindness Well, if you ask me, I found this music pretty amazing... Album is just flawless. My favorite tracks are probably the first part of "Metal show", Pinkie the Party, and Faster than Lightning (this one fits so well to Rainbow Dash *___*). The last track, Kindness, is very beautiful as well, but a bit slower, didn't caught me that much, probably because the other songs are very fast comparing to this one...it's pretty calm though.
  10. I'm looking for somebody that can help me out with a project I started working on. I'm wanting to make a music project based off of themes from the show and fanfictions (primarily mine, but others, such as Fallout: Equestria) are welcome. The genre I'm thinking of is drone metal, but other genres, like post metal or doom metal are welcome. (Link to Wikipedia's page on drone metal for those unaware of what it is) In case the "drone metal" thing didn't turn you off, here's what this would entail: We'd be focusing on atmosphere rather than rhythms and technicality. The atmospheres will generally be dark and scary, given the genres. This would, obviously, require you to have some sort of instrument. Electric guitar will be the primary instrument for at least the drone metal part. A vocalist is optional (I use vocalist rather than singer because it's drone metal.) The songs can just be improvisations. If you're interested in helping out, or need something cleared up, reply to this or send me a PM. More than one person can help out with this. We might even be able to cycle people out.
  11. So uhm... I'm absolutely obsessed with the band called "Helloween" at the moment. (Hell, I'm listening to "Keeper of the Seven Keys" right now.) I was just wondering if anyone here on the forums likes them as well. They used to be frickin' huge back in the 80s, but sadly, it seems as if they've been a little forgotten in recent years. (For those of you who don't know...) Helloween is a German power-metal band from the 80s. Their first album was called The Walls of Jericho, but they didn't get that much attention 'til the release of Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. I. My personal favourite song of theirs is probably "Keeper of the Seven Keys" from the album Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. II. If you're into metal, especially power-metal, I highly recommend checking them out. While they're still pretty okay today, I think their magnum opus was around 1986-1988 with the two Keeper albums. It took a while for me to adjust to their style, but god damn, am I glad I did! Such a great band.
  12. MUSIC. Near everyone listens to it, but what's the best Genre? HA, easy answer: Yes. I know it sounds stupid and cheesy, but all genres are great. Even if you don't like one, it's still good. You're opinion doesn't change the fact others enjoy it greatly. Music from this: To this: Is all so unique, so perfectly crafted, that it evokes responses to immensely different, and isn't that the great thing about music? From hard rock to country, all songs bring forth a special emotion that is tough to find anywhere else, because there's nothing quite like bobbing your head to the bass, or tapping your fingers to the guitar.
  13. I figured I'd post this here just in case anyone is interested. I keep a list of a lot of metal and rock I've found in the fandom. Some of it I found with google's search operators. If anyone finds any more obscure stuff feel free to let me know. Reason I ask is cause I'm noticing stuff disappearing from the internet and would like to archive them if possible. >https://www.dropbox.com/s/p0od7wvd9hrs591/playlist.txt?dl=0 Edit: I decided to use a playlist instead. >
  14. One of us had become very curious and very interested with metallic My Little Pony merchandise and what kind you may have, and we're not talking about no shiny paper trading cards. This is all the real deal. Of course, Koi Fish had brought it within the group far back. It's come back. From standard steel to an ounce of silver. What have you got? What would you recommend to Koi? Would you ever recommend us getting a custom coin?
  15. Battlefield is my favorite game right now. All gameplay is SlaughterPony (that's me) wrecking it on all three Xbox One Battlefield titles. The lyrics were really difficult to write on this one, but I think I nailed it! Download - Stallionslaughter - Battlefield (Miley Cyrus Metal Parody).mp3
  16. Whether you're a metal head or you just like the genre, everyone who listens to metal usually has at least one favorite band that they never get tired of listening to. Personally I can think of quite a few, but for the sake of not making this post to long I will just name a few of them. Disturbed: Disturbed is one of the many bands my friend introduced me to and ever since then they have been one of my favorite bands, I like almost every song from all of their albums (although there is one song in particular that I don't approve of). They are, in my opinion one of the best modern bands. Avenged sevenfold: I know that I might get some hate about this one, but I honestly don't care. I have heard the vast majority of songs by them and just like with disturbed I have liked pretty much all of their songs, they are also responsible for one of the most disturbing songs I have ever heard (A little piece of heaven), although I do still like the song. Metallica: And last but certainly not least we have Metallica, one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Pretty much everything by them is great (despite what others say I personally don't think their later albums are bad), and even their songs that aren't that great are still better than what are considered to be the best songs by some other bands. Of course, these are just a few that I think are the best, and I'm sure there are a lot more that I've never even heard of. So who's your favorite?
  17. Egor Lappo - Luna's Future [Metal Remix]
  18. I had to put it on Vocaroo this time, because Soundcloud apparently didn't liked the audio i used. Those meanies. http://vocaroo.com/i/s14QeK8ich2y I hope you like it. It's probably my favorite Godsmack song. The beginning is without instrumentals, so wait a bit. Enjoy.
  19. It's been awhile but I finally uploaded an original, pony-themed song. This song has two purposes: 1) I have yet to see anyone in the pony fandom to write a Melodic Hardcore song and I wanted to change that and 2) I wanted to experiment with a genre that I've never written in before. I hope it came out good But enough rambling! Here's the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyEvobhEsLA
  20. Master of puppets. What most say is Metallica's greatest album. What many say is the best thrash metal record, and what may will argue is the best metal album of all time. This album now celebrates it's 30th anniversary today. What are your thoughts on Master of Puppets? Favorite songs? Think Metallica will play this in it's entirety this year?
  21. Hey guys, I just recently did a cover of The L-Train's 25 minute song "Moonrise" Not exactly sure where to post this but....here it is!
  22. "Djent" is a subgenre of Heavy Metal characterized by a low-pitched, palm-muted guitar sound. The word "Djent" is onomatopoeia for this sound. (This was paraphrased from Wikipedia.) If you don't know what Djent sounds like, watch the first ten or so seconds of this video. It's the "chugging" guitar sound. The sound, or genre (if it can be called that) is a bit controversial. Some people don't like the term, others don't like the sound. I noticed it's a bit difficult to find a Djent tutorial on YouTube because so many parody videos exist that make fun of Djent. I think the name is dumb, but I don't know what else to call it. I also think it shouldn't be considered a subgenre because it's essentially just another way to strum a chord. As to how I like the actual sound: It's good in moderation, but too much of it gets boring quickly. What are all of your thoughts on Djent?
  23. An instrumental cover of Amon Amarth's The Last With Pagan Blood that I threw together today: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/t7pleeh6my6e3d8/Amon%20Amarth%20-%20The%20Last%20With%20Pagan%20Blood%20%28cover%29.mp3 Original:
  24. I've been branching out from writing horsewords and stumbled into writing some song lyrics that would work well in a commercial rock/metal format. Now, in order to sell them to music producers, though, I need the music to go along with the lyrics. Does anyone here feel up to the task of putting music to these words and getting a share of any eventual profits? (Sorry if this isn't a good place to ask. Feel free to suggest better places.)
  25. The most prominent brony rock/metal musician that is currently active is PrinceWhateverer. He's also my favorite. Here's some of his songs: Some others that I listen to are Bronyfied (hasn't posted a new song for years) GatoPaint, Rockin'Brony, and Cyril the Wolf (he no longer makes pony music, though.) As I wrote this, I just finished listening to GatoPaint's amazing cover of Rainbow Factory. Are there any brony rock songs you would like to share, or any artists I didn't mention? Are you a brony rock musician yourself? I'm focusing mainly on hard rock, but feel free to share artists that make softer rock.
