    Health “Zombie Deer Disease”

Yes, that is the title. For those of you unaware, there’s a deadly disease spreading among elk and deer in the United States, and now experts are warning that it may one day be transmittable to humans who eat meat from wild game. The infection, known as chronic wasting disease, is related to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), also known as mad cow disease—which explains the equally terrifying nickname this illness has been given: zombie deer disease. More general information (recommended): More details regarding the disease: Do you think that we, as humans, should be worried about this disease? I am a veterinary technician so my knowledge on zoonotic diseases is pretty fair. With that being said, I do not believe that we have reason to worry about this disease spreading to us at the moment.

    Episode 4 - Newspaper Articles

Hi, it's Justin Case. After another long hiatus, I'm back with an all new episode! Y'know what really grinds my gears? Newspaper articles. I hate how they stop and continue on another page in another section. I understand why they do it, but I think it's f*ckin' bullsh*t. I DON'T WANT TO CONTINUE ON D9! I WANT TO READ THE WHOLE THING RIGHT HERE IN ONE CONTINUOUS SECTION, GOD DAMMIT! Thanks for joining me. This has been What Really Grinds My Gears.
  3. Alaska's largest city has been hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, the strongest it's dealt with in a long time. Best of luck to my fellow Alaskans.
  4. For the second time ever, Milwaukee's own Ponyville Ciderfest has been featured on the news. (fun fact: that's me at the start, walking into the hotel) And now for this year, our record breaking attended 5th con.
  5. Even if you are not a fan of My Little Pony, this is bad news all around in the Toy Industry. Toy giant Toys R Us may be expecting to liquidate its assets starting next week, Source: Even with their recent failures, it's going to be really sad if Toys R Us does go out of business. It will be bad for toy makers like Hasbro, Mattel and LEGO, not to mention lesser toy makers like NECA, Mezco and Jakks Pacific will be affected even further since they rely on Toys R Us for their sales. Even worse, other merchant stores like Target and Walmart are also affected by sluggish sales due to the rise of Amazon and the likes. The end of an era if this is true. And I still go to their store from time to time.
  6. Because we have tropical storms and hurricanes during the hurricane season from June 1st to November 30th each year, are you prepared for the hurricane season? We have most of the hurricanes around in the month of September in the Atlantic Ocean. When you live near the beach before the hurricane makes landfall, we have storm surges with ocean waters raised by the storm, so I'll tell you all to drive or fly away from the beach area as quickly as possible. Last year, my home city was impacted by Hurricane Harvey, it made landfall in Texas at Category 4 status and we had high water floods around the city of Houston, but my house didn't get flooded so I stayed safe at home along with my family with a break from school for 10 school days (or 2 school weeks). Hurricane Irma impacted the Caribbean Islands and Florida with major flooding and damage; and Hurricane Maria knocked out all the power in Puerto Rico and leaving the whole island powerless for a few months. I believe all of you are going to be prepared for the hurricane season because it is important that you prepare for yourselves for potential tropical storms and hurricanes based on its path on where you live. I will continuously track tropical cyclones in the Atlantic area during the hurricane season. Hurricane categories are based on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (SSHWS), the tropical cyclone must have at least 74 mph to attain a hurricane status, major hurricanes are Category 3 or higher with 110 mph sustained winds, and Category 5 hurricanes have sustained winds exceeding 156 mph. As of yesterday, Tropical Storm Aletta was formed in the Pacific Ocean and it became a first named storm of the 2018 Pacific hurricane season. They expect that to become a hurricane in a few days later.

    News Hurricane Florence

The dog days are not over. As most of you may know, what began as a tropical storm and is now a category 4 hurricane is making its way towards the US east coast. Areas affected are the Carolinas, Maryland, and Virginia. I'm in Richmond, Virginia, located in the dark orange band of the above image. We aren't supposed to get the worst of it, but from what I've heard it's going to suck. Last I knew, Florence is supposed to reach us sometime Thursday. I hope all of you in the affected areas are prepared or evacuated.

News Any fellow "Friends Of The Pod" here?

I was just wondering if any fellow bronies on these forums were avid listeners of the podcast, Pod Save America? I personally can't get enough of these guys.
  9. I know that some of you may not follow politics, but this is something that has a major impact on you especially if you live in the European Union (EU). The EU Parliament plans to pass a law that would make copyrighted content on the internet illegal in the EU. This would be disastrous to European bronies, as many aspects of online brony culture such as posting fan art and fan fiction would be illegal if this passes. If you live in the European Union, I urge you to visit this website Tell your friends, family, and followers and do everything you can to fight Article 13. I may not be a European citizen, but I am a brony, and I wish to do everything I can to help my brothers and sisters in Europe.
  10. How do I know? Because they charged us money to watch the actual battle after months of hyping us up for it and having multiple Logan vs KSI cons. If anyone watched the battle without paying Logan and KSI, then they were doing it illegally and it will probably be removed because Logan said it himself. Here is the link to the video where Logan announces that watching the fight is not going to be free:

  12. I played Shenmue when I was 13, and I loved every minute of it, now seeing it getting rereleased onto Steam makes me excited!
  13. While I do love me some nature and I do not really proactively work towards maintaining it, rather focus on not trying to destroy it, there are things people do I just cannot understand. The latest action coming from Greenpeace seems to confirm that. While I can understand the reasons and intentions, they by no means justify the hazards and dangers the Greenpeace activists have put the population to. While the Germans seem to have traffic issues under control, it does not mean they are not at risk. The strips on the road are no longer visible, as said in article the road is slippery and dangerous for everyone and private property is being damaged as cars forced to drive on this round are being colorized against the will of their drivers. If you asked me, this is not an action that will bring Greenpeace positive recognition they are seeking, but rather an act of pure vandalism to which, worst of all, Greenpeace openly confesses with pride in their eyes. Your opinions?
  14. (If this is a duplicate thread, feel free to merge this with that thread) So what is the funniest news headline you've heard of? If you ask me, well this happened in Guam. "Man gets arrested after throwing feces at police officer"
  15. I hate to bring up such bad news, but we should probably discuss the accusations against ToonKriticY2K alleging sexual misconduct. Please discuss.
  16. Next year, the Boy Scouts of america will drop the 'boy' part and be all inclusive. What do you all think? Any pony here a fellow scout? What's your take? What about any girl scouts? What's your take on the former boy scouts now recruiting girls? Pic related.
  17. Can't believe I'm still working on recreating these dang #BattleGemPonies menus! I feel horrible for taking so much longer than I keep promising out loud, but I can feel in my bones that delaying is the right thing to do... Also, finally got a response from BronyCon on if the panel is happening or not.See #GameDev Log #169:

    General Leaving MLP Forums

Hey, everypony! I decided to leave this forum because i haven't used it for a long time.
  19. Last month, a devastating earthquake rocked the Iran-Iraq border. BBC describes it as “the deadliest in the world this year,” with more than 400 people left dead and thousands injured. Major news outlets are reporting that the Iran-Iraq earthquake was a 7.3 magnitude. According to NBC News, an area known as the Kermanshah province suffered the most destruction. The impact, however, was “felt as far west as the Mediterranean coast.” As you read news reporting on the earthquake, you may feel powerless, but there are actually quite a few things you can do to help the victims of the Iran-Iraq earthquake. Thanks to the World Wide Web, you can send donations and raise awareness — wherever you happen to live. This article lists several ways you can help:
  20. So apparently, the FCC want's to de-regulate the fair use rules that allow for net neutrality. That all customers get data at the same rate, at the same time. Supposedly the plan is to have companies intervene by granting faster access to their customers. But many are worried that this will be an excuse for companies to hike up prices for faster service, deliberately slowing down internet speeds for those who aren't paying enough, and restricting access to certain sites. The vote begins tomorrow. Should we be worried? Is it as bad as people are saying?
  21. If you've been paying attention to the news over the past few days, the California bay area has been devastated by a series of wild fires. The worst in a hundred years. And the community has been hit very hard with over 8000 homes destroyed. But you can help, by donating to tipping point, which is collecting donations, as well as hosting the Band Together benefit concert, going on as we speak (Rancid is performing as I type). So tune into the show if you're interested (Metallica are the headliners) and please, do donate what you can.

  23. In light of all these devastating recent events, I just wanted to post about one of my favorite charities, Samaritan's Purse International Relief. Samaritan's Purse provides disaster and medical relief all over the world, including the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico, Texas, and Florida. Click on the link below to donate: I've also included a link to Global Giving for Mexico Earthquake Relief and the Gofundme page for victims of the Las Vegas shooting: Another Samaritan's Purse project I wanted to talk about is one they do every year around Christmas called Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is a project in which donors fill shoebox-sized boxes with toys, school supplies, and practical items. These boxes are distributed around the world to needy children living in impoverished countries who might otherwise not receive anything at all. Please consider giving and show your support. And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. - Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
  24. So hurricane Harvey is hitting the Texas coat, looking to make landfall at Corpus Christi as a Category 4. I'm amazed at just how rapidly this thing grew in intensity. In just 24 hours, it nearly doubled in strength.
  25. For those not in the know, the U.S. will be experiencing total solar eclipse (dammit Luna, you had one job ). This doesn't mean the sun will be blocked out like in the movies, but the sky will be noticeably dimmer in some parts of the country, namely along the path of totality. But if you have the proper filter to look through, say the type of glass used in welding masks pr specialized glasses, then looking at the sun through it will reveal the eclipse in detail. A very rare event and by my last check, the first in a quarter century. So will you go out and check out Luna trying to enshroud the world in eternal night the solar eclipse? To find out where and when you can best view the eclipse, visit
