  1. My lovely, my manly My heart pounds so gladly For you, my wondrous knight I lust for you all night If only t'were today but not another day My lover, my precious You've been quite chivalrous Am I justified such From a man I love much you've taught me love once more couldn't be gladder for My dear, my loveliest do you fancy me best I ponder that your mate is me not, do I rate better than I believe or should my nerves reprieve My other half, my love I must be such a dove in your eyes at the least in mine eyes you're a feast I quite frankly love you more than you could have knew He says it's good... But I'm not sure if it's because he's just being nice or it's actually good... -_-
  2. AveryGamerDude

It's a new day. Every waking moment for me is one with despair, and I'm constantly starved for help for my crippling sadness. Frankly, I'd say I have a long road ahead of more depression. Around every corner, there's more things for me to be depressed about. I'm feeling numb, because I feel like I have no time left until I do something horrible... All that remains of my not as worrisome past are some posts I made on the web. As if that wasn't bad enough, I live in a house divided by religious views and politics. I wish I could talk about it on the internet without putting myself in harms way. But if I did that, I would be left with nothing but being amid the ruins of my old life. I wish I could go back. But sadly, there is no going back. I have so many regrets. I wish I could do something about it, but I can't because time is the ties that bind. I would've just taken the things I needed then, but I couldn't do that because I'm not above the law. I'm saddened by this, but hopefully I'll get over it because I'm thicker than water. But unfortunately, my only escape from my despair seems to be from the gallows. I guess I could say that I'm done running. I just don't wanna live a life of emptiness anymore. I especially after listening to my mom playing "Suffer the Children Unto Me." And after examining all the broken toys I have remaining from my past... I can only say one thing... TAKE US BACK.
  3. Our brightest artist,Rarity meetwho paints with threads ribbons and silksand all ponies her work seekthats why she oppened three boutiques like a swan white and elegant with a dark amethyst mane and as for what marks her flank three cerulean diamonds there Narcisist some call her and,well.. she loves to take care of her image but to know your worth and self is great and never be discouraged for to survive as fashionista you need to also look the part you also need a good assistant hopefully hers will not depart for then she'll call on fluttershy who is not in the best form to meet ponies new, she'll fly away or totally transform
  4. like Applejack in a farm i'm Raised on the hills near a small town it has cold winters celestia be praised for i loved snow as i've grown my hobbies start with nice long reads i'm a bit like twilight sparkle just before her friends she seeks a bit closed, not quick to chuckle which brings me to my other trait like fluttershy i'm very shy my similarities end there, not great for its plain i cannot fly like Rarity my greatest passion is in Art,i like to draw though i'm not well versed in fashion and i always look quite raw so if you are like Pinkie pie always looking for new friends don't hold back, just come say Hi lets form a bond that never ends p.s. as for you Rainbow Dash,i'm sorry you're too awesome to compare i couldn't fit you in my story but i wrote this verse,so there
  5. Daring Do discovers the lost land of the Alicorns(my rendition of it at least) Daring came across an Ancient Civilization that once thrived with Alicorns however something must have happened to wipe them out from this time in history. As she ventured deep within the ruins she came across an old temple, going inside her heart ached seeing it engulfed by decay and rot,but it was also exhilirating, thats what she lives for.As she ventured deeper she reached a heavy old door, trying to push it open she struggled to move it at first, but eventually it succumbed to her strenghth and the door flew wide open, landing with a thud, Daring scrambled up brushing the dirt off her with her wings,as she scanned the room, she noticed its in a surprisingly good state, there was an old book case with some scrolls still intact on its shelves.Picking one up at random she unraveled it and started reading... as she read the first scroll she frowned,at first glance it seemed like a poem, but as she progressed it looked more like a prophecy we are immortal,or so we think but our race faces certain doom a wizard with great promise we'll make king and crown him in this very room but for his arrogance we will all sink to endless time's depths in a loop and he'll imprison us and horrors bring for his intentions differ from what they look this fate shivers up my mane for its much worse than timely death we'll suffer in this cycle anew again and never draw our final breath so hear me now and listen well for we must put trust in two foals sent them away far from this hell and hope they don't forget their goals one will be born under sun's sign and will inherit all its power the other is her sister and don't sigh for the moon she will raise and lower their quest will be to find the six spoked star and raise it delicately with care for she's the one to heal time's own scar doing so freeing every colt and mare to know her look for the birth of a dragon under a rainbow blazing in the sky a unicorn she'll be and i can not fathom how she'll achieve it so i won't even try the star that gleams is her adversary but she will teach her in time's ways in finding friends she needs some comentary and a student thus she gains but on her own she'll never find us so she must find the sacred tree to gain the map to where he binds us and come to finaly set us free "Lighttsong the Royal Seer" many thanks to @RaphLuna for the original prologue that inpired this all and to @ChB since his Zacora Cider competition made me discover i could actually rhyme
  6. Hello fellow poetry writers and lovers! Tonight I have a challenge/game for you! Can you write a really bad poem? Whether is be crude, grammatically incorrect or just plain stupid, it counts! So, let me start. A Duse's Destiny! - PuddingPonyPal I love to poo It's a great thing to do Let it be shared Between me and you Hard Mountain - PuddingPonyPal To you I'd love to sock Directly in the c*ock You say it's like a rock But it's size I love to mock ... It's snowing on Mt. Fuji
  7. In time for Halloween i took the time to read the classic poem the raven, which everyone at this time of the year apparently does. Hope you like it and give me some feedback. Be cautious, i stutter at a few points, because ye olde english is kinda hard.
  8. The volcano of your mind Dormant until stirred as you may find Ready at any second if something goes wrong But not to play a glorious song The bubbling lava waiting to be set free By an exasperating chaotic spree But a strange force hovers around Keeping the energy bound Suddenly a disturbance is sensed That leaves the volcano convinced That something has indeed failed Now, the lava prepares to set sail The whole world trembles as the volcano is about to blow With that bright and red glow With a scream, the lava is set free To begin the terror and chaotic spree As the lava flows destruction ensues From those nasty lava brews Nothing can seem to tame this beast But there is a hope to say the least The volcano suddenly loses steam That ray of hope indeed shines with a gleam Then amidst all the wreckage, there is an accord That can only come from the one above, our dear Lord The volcano of your mind can be tamed You are in control, but if lost, are at blame But as long as things aren’t going wrong You can be sure that the volcano is singing a happy song. Wrote this poem a while back.
  9. If I could go back... To that one day... Where all was carefree and gay Where no one or nopony hesitated to offer a snack... What would I do...? What would I say...? Would the hurt go away? Would they see me as somepony brand new? Would somepony be against me? Would they hold a grudge? Would they see the new me? Would the image of the old me in their mind not even budge? I am scared I am afraid With the impression I've already made... I don't think I'm even prepared... I am a beggar inside... Always wanting and needing But with my selfish gain and pride...*sniffle* How could I...fess up and...say what I...really need...? I know s-she was there... ...and left chase her dreams... I...*sniffle*...can't undo it all This biggest...*sniffle*...fall... If...I could go back...I would *starts sobbing lightly* Heal all the wounds that I...inflicted... I know it's never too late...but... All my guilt is making me feel so...constricted...*still sobbing* I'm strong... I-I'm brave...*sniffles trying to recover from her sobbing* But...I feel so...weak... Like...I'm...all alone in a cave... Please... If you can hear me... I-I wanna start this over...*stands up and wipes her face with a talon* And make it right... Because now I see it...and understand... What is now...but our future...will be brighter than the brightest all of the land... ~Gilda A freewrite I did one day when I was thinking. Hope you guys like it.
  10. Mind giving me some feedback on this? I've been thinking about putting it to music. [PLEASE DO NOT COPY] The Girl 1. Once was a girl 2. With a bright personality. 3. She never meant to hurt 4. And despised brutality. 5. She was eager to help 6. And would ask to play with one other. 7. But when she fell, 8. The girl wasn't held by another. 9. Though her intention was good, 10. She came off as clumsy. 11. She never understood 12. What the problem might be. 13. As the girl got older, 14. Her conflict only grew. 15. "You're broken." They told her. 16. "The world's better off without you." 17. At the age of twelve, 18. Her communications were limited. 19. She'd talk to herself 20. And her nature grew timid. 21. All through middle school, 22. She was taught by a screen. 23. She was seen as a fool 24. The few times she had company. 25. When spending was at minimum 26. And her situation became fruitless, 27. She was thrown to the system 28. In hopes of cleaning her mess. 29. So now at age fourteen, 30. She was expected of more. 31. She knew nothing of scene 32. Or about this 'common core'. 33. No one would talk to her 34. Or stand within half a mile. 35. Though treated like an intruder, 36. She still wore her usual smile. 37. Like a broken record, 38. She'd sing without anyone to admire. 39. "I don't know where to go 40. Or who to be. 41. I wish someone 42. Or anyone would help me. 43. I feel empty inside.” 44. She would plea. 45. “No place to go hide. 46. This world has grown cold. 47. It's suffocating me." 48. She longed to break the mold 49. And needed to break free. 50. Day in and day out, 51. Her fate seemed evident. 52. She was cursed to roam about 53. Without anyone to her feeling significant. 54. She began to build a fortress 55. Out of fear for the demons she faced. 56. Depression became her mistress. 57. She pondered as she across the floor paced, 58. “This is all?” 59. Surely her life weighed more than this. 60. But the truth finally answered her call 61. When another girl offered a hand when she tripped. 62. Along with it, 63. This girl beamed a bright smile. 64. Taken back a bit, 65. She returned the grin with a hint of denial. 66. Little did they know, 67. These two would be inseparable. 68. Some say their friendship is just for show 69. It seems strange for a friendship to be so immeasurable. 70. The girl made more friends 71. Along the way. 72. Not to belittle those relations, 73. But the smiley girl mattered more than she could say. 74. She had replaced her prior feelings 75. She thought she so well knew 76. With a newfound joy. 77. She felt so at ease around these few. 78. Her previous darkness was but her demon’s lost ploy. 79. Instead of murmuring 80. With words of depression, 81. Her voice is now elevating 82. And singing proudly her tale of revelation. 83. “No longer, 84. I won't be held down. 85. Or defined by another.” 86. She sang whether it rained or wind blew. 87. “I'm tired of crying 88. In a corner somewhere. 89. I'd rather be out smiling 90. With people who care. 91. These hard hearted people 92. Can yell all they want. 93. That doesn't mean it gives me a cripple 94. Or I care about their thought.” 95. This whole life of her’s, 96. She didn’t know why she had so much trouble. 97. But after telling her of these disorders, 98. At least she could to lessen the struggle. 99. “Yeah I'm broken. 100. So what? 101. It's my problem. 102. Your point was? 103. If my flaws annoy you that much, 104. Why don't you go look in the mirror for once. 105. There's not one definition of perfect. 106. There's not one word for me. 107. I'd rather be a clipped bird 108. And continue to sing. 109. Than be a beautiful butterfly 110. That'll be forgotten in a week. 111. It won't matter what I wore 112. 10 years from now. 113. But I'll stay torn 114. If I blindly wander around. 115. With no opinion of myself 116. Besides the lies you've told my head? 117. As if I'd leave my feelings on a shelf 118. And take your word instead. 119. Sorry little miss. 120. Guess I'm not as weak as you thought. 121. You've shown me my feelings don’t deserve a dismiss 122. And why you shouldn't tease and cause distraught.” 123. These lessons she’s learned 124. Will give her strength every day. 125. She’s met people who’ll be concerned 126. And pick her up when she feels dismay. 127. It’s now been a year 128. Since the girl was brought into this environment. 129. She’s matured greatly here 130. Despite her rough settlement. 131. Without these few youth 132. She’s met in this place, 133. She may have stayed aloof 134. With a fake smile upon her face. 135. As time has passed, 136. The world continues to spin. 137. Just as hurtful comments do not last 138. Against a sincere and joyful grin. 139. Though the girl still faces daily problems, 140. It’s much easier to deal. 141. She will achieve excellence 142. If these people continue to help in ordeal. 143. The story doesn’t end right away 144. For it has only just begun. 145. Even to this day, 146. This girl still sings of past transgression. 147. She’s helped many without personally knowing them 148. With her tale of victory. 149. But she cannot irradiate the problem. 150. Her actions will not be enough only. 151. It will take the everyday person 152. To change this society. 153. Not with large scale projects to immerse in. 154. But with average people like you and me.
  11. Love is a burning flame Which keeps us safe To bring in the warmth There are hardships to face When the flame is small It is easy to cease But as the flame grows It's strength will increase If you keep the flame burning It will continue to grow strong The flame will keep you warm And your love will last long I don't write poems.

  13. So, I was browsing a website called Knowable, and I happened across this poem. I feel like it perfectly sums up the entire English language and the strange way we pronounce words almost exactly the same as something completely different. Enjoy! Dearest creature in creation, Study English pronunciation. I will teach you in my verse Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse. I will keep you, Suzy, busy, Make your head with heat grow dizzy. Tear in eye, your dress will tear. So shall I! Oh hear my prayer. Just compare heart, beard, and heard, Dies and diet, lord and word, Sword and sward, retain and Britain. (Mind the latter, how it's written.) Now I surely will not plague you With such words as plaque and ague. But be careful how you speak: Say break and steak, but bleak and streak; Cloven, oven, how and low, Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe. Hear me say, devoid of trickery, Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore, Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles, Exiles, similes, and reviles; Scholar, vicar, and cigar, Solar, mica, war and far; One, anemone, Balmoral, Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel; Gertrude, German, wind and mind, Scene, Melpomene, mankind. Billet does not rhyme with ballet, Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet. Blood and flood are not like food, Nor is mould like should and would. Viscous, viscount, load and broad, Toward, to forward, to reward. And your pronunciation's OK When you correctly say croquet, Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve, Friend and fiend, alive and live. Ivy, privy, famous; clamour And enamour rhyme with hammer. River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb, Doll and roll and some and home. Stranger does not rhyme with anger, Neither does devour with clangour. Souls but foul, haunt but aunt, Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant, Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger, And then singer, ginger, linger, Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge, Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age. Query does not rhyme with very, Nor does fury sound like bury. Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth. Job, nob, bosom, transom, oath. Though the differences seem little, We say actual but victual. Refer does not rhyme with deafer. Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer. Mint, pint, senate and sedate; Dull, bull, and George ate late. Scenic, Arabic, Pacific, Science, conscience, scientific. Liberty, library, heave and heaven, Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven. We say hallowed, but allowed, People, leopard, towed, but vowed. Mark the differences, moreover, Between mover, cover, clover; Leeches, breeches, wise, precise, Chalice, but police and lice; Camel, constable, unstable, Principle, disciple, label. Petal, panel, and canal, Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal. Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair, Senator, spectator, mayor. Tour, but our and succour, four. Gas, alas, and Arkansas. Sea, idea, Korea, area, Psalm, Maria, but malaria. Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean. Doctrine, turpentine, marine. Compare alien with Italian, Dandelion and battalion. Sally with ally, yea, ye, Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key. Say aver, but ever, fever, Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver. Heron, granary, canary. Crevice and device and aerie. Face, but preface, not efface. Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass. Large, but target, gin, give, verging, Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging. Ear, but earn and wear and tear Do not rhyme with here but ere. Seven is right, but so is even, Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen, Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk, Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work. Pronunciation -- think of Psyche! Is a paling stout and spikey? Won't it make you lose your wits, Writing groats and saying grits? It's a dark abyss or tunnel: Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale, Islington and Isle of Wight, Housewife, verdict and indict. Finally, which rhymes with enough -- Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough? Hiccough has the sound of cup. My advice is to give up!!! (I don't know who wrote this, if it was the OP or if it was copy and pasted. If anyone recognises it, do tell. Here's where I found it.)
  14. Ok, so I saw this on Tumblr, and I though this would be an excelent game to try. So here are the rules: 1. Go on your iPod/MP3 player and put it on shuffle 2. For each song, write down the first lyric of the song, untill you get to song #10 3. Post your poetic masterpiece! (you can post a list of the songs if you want) I'll go first as an example: When it's time to party, we will party hard, Get ready for a whale of a time; Shamu, Angry words and honking cars, It's all about the pentiums baby, Switch on the sky, and the stars glow for you, The night starts now, baby roll with us, Now listen to me baby, Ever wonder about what he's doin, Jonhy used to work on the docks, Aren't you something to admire, cause you're shining somewhat like a mirror Now you try!
  15. Moderators please tell me a section to move this to if I am in the wrong section but here we go anyway. As you know I am mad about the royal guard but I wrote a poem based on how I see things through my own "Pony Eyes" so here it goes and hope you enjoy it! My Sight I feel the breeze of Equestria flow through my mane The royal guard platoon call for their Junior Officers name My wings flap out towards the sky I soar up free and high Over Pony Ville I go looking down I breathe the fresh air and land on the mouldy ground My golden helmet shines so bright In the beautiful glorious sunlight I am young and carefree at heart Sometimes unsure where to start My duty as a royal guard is to serve and protect Be aware and ready for any threat Only a young mare yet, still challenges lie ahead So many things to learn, and books to be read I stare out to Pony Ville, Rainbow Dash whisks pass me and sticks out her tongue Well friends are different, sometimes as annoying as this one..... Training as a royal guard at the academy Are all skills which need to be learned you see I hate training a lot of times But I know its for my own good. I joined the royal guard because I wanted to train and to learn the truth, and this I realise. Yet its not all good things to learn, sometimes you learn the bitter truth Yet another attack on Equestria is something brutal to learn that all ponies are not friends and the attack was the horrible proof Ponies fight and ponies scream They are not as they all seem A day later or so I wield my spear Inside combat training, a weapon is important to learn to bear Yet some attack with it, but I believe only for defence If someone attacks you, you can fight back, but no pony will attack if they have the sense Equestria is vast and spreads out wide The lighter part tries to overcome the dark side I can see this as a young mare, learning about villains who destroy to scare As much as I hate the ones that turned them into this, I pity that they don't care I come home for tea at my place Next to it is the little patch with the palm tree in the space In Pony Ville which is my home Where friends and enemys of all kind roam I know that however I am still growing up I see the world in a tiny cup The world seems so big, but then back up there in the universe it seems so small I stare up to the stars as the sunsets. I know that to them I am hardly anything at all The challenges that lie ahead to me are a very big test Face the challenges and my fears and then call it a day and have a rest It happens so fast around the world, a pony is born while the other one dies That's how you see the world through my young pony eyes Officer Strike
  16. A moonlight glooms along on tonight Mountains great with peaks high in height Light upon green seen grass that flows Wind so gentle and settle without lows A beautiful and still sight A child I was then A beauty I remember even then Of a moonlight gloom along then A scene so serene even under the dark I made a small and memorable mark I remember of the mountains and their might I'll see it one a day once a'more in the night A moonlight glooms along on tonight So similar seemingly still, but a liar Not of winds so gentle and settles without lows Not of mountains great with peaks high in height Not of light upon green seen grass that flows I wish to see that beautiful and still sight Warm I am Under thick blankets In a room comfy without comfort White as snow of some sort My frail body with ails that ills me I wish upon the Valley in the Dark To see the moonlight that was so Serene even after light. ---- I hope you all liked the poem! Wrote it as a ballad for creative writing.
  17. "Ghost of Gallifrey" By Daniel Jones Two people that coexist A man who is fiction and a boy who is real But peel away the boy's introverted exterior And a similar story is revealed A story of losing those who are close Coincidentally identical ways Though the Time Lord can travel to distant worlds The Human is trapped on the earth each day Regeneration, with a different meaning A change of body versus a change of channel Each one ends with a loss of confidence and hope Often too much for either to handle What can be done to change their fate? Can any solution be stumbled upon? There's no way to tell if or when it will come For now both the Human and the Time Lord must try to move on ----- A little poem I decided to randomly write. I don't often use this form of writing to vent, but I like how it turned out. Don't know if it's good, the rhymes are kind of "near rhymes", but there it is. Either way I'm pretty happy with it
  18. So, recently, I have been enrolled in a creative writing class. Its been a dream come true for me, I've always wanted to take one but never been able to until now. In class, we have gotten to the poetry section. We've gone through certain poemn types like villanelle and others, which I had a difficult time with. But now, we've gotten to the ballad poem, which I'm enjoying immensely. I've written one, which I'm to turn in, and I would like opinions on it. It is due tomorrow evenine, so I may not be able to make too many changes based on observations here before then, but I would love your feedback. Now, as a warning, there are a couple words here that people might not like, so I'll just throw that out there now and get it out of the way. And I know the third stanza doesn't exactly rhyme, but I couldn't think of anything better to put there. So, without further ado, here we go. So, id love to hear what you guys think, and I apologize about the word choice in the sixth stanza there, I just wanted to get a point across.
  19. I am in no way a poetess, but these are just some thoughts I had about the riots taking place in Baltimore -- that so happened to come out as a poem and I just went with it. Dear Baltimore, My heart breaks that you are so sad; I see past the anger and I understand why your mad. You're fed up with the way you've been treated; Another black death is again repeated. You need an outlet to release your rage; You want freedom from this cage Of oppression, violence, and the like; You're tired of sitting hands; you're ready to fight! But wait! There's gotta be another way; Violence, arson, and looting is not okay. I know it feels right, but it is very wrong; You'll find you've done more harm than good all along. So dear Baltimore, I hope that you hear me; Think twice about what you're doing -- Because the whole world is watching. Enough destruction has been had; Instead, work towards the future, and hold solemnly to the past. Strive for a better future for your children; Not leave your own community in desolation and ruin, Dear Baltimore. ~RainbowJaxs16~
  20. From my past that I can't seem to remember now. Due to recent views on these dynamic formations in the void. I surely can say that these are my last words as a normal mass. Because I am now transmutating from a known specie to an unknown irregular shape. But I never forget about these properties that made a little part of this countershape. This part that made some of these agressions transformable. They are the elements who created these dynamic shapes. And they helped me mutating into a neverending cycle of constant movement. But now, I got to go. Eternity calls me for this voyage where forces will collide. Bringing me to another state of mutation. “At the end, one didn't remember life as a whole but as just a string of moments.” ― David Levien
  21. Just do what the topic says. If you don't know what I haiku is (though I suspect most of you do) it's a poem with 3 lines. First line is 5 syllables, second is 7, and third is 5 again. It doesn't have to rhyme. Example: This is a haiku It has three whole lines of text They are fun to write
  22. Before starting my second experimental poem, I would like to talk about the influences I had to start doing these: my poems are mainly influenced by the Italian futuristic who took it's course from 1909 to 1944, people back then were interested in the future forgotting about pasts values and that's what maked people creating really dynamic type of art during those years. That's basically the core of my poems. So let's continue with the second one: When I see darkness, I basically hear nothing. It is a normal aspect of this type of visual aggresion. Right now, my thoughts are in an endless metamorphosis state. Unable to accept that my mutation will never change. The static void is coming to force a static mutation inside me. But, in the inside of my mental aspects. I remain, no external force can change my constant mental mutation. The void must accept it and he does fear my dynamic aspect of my cranium. And... it became static again. Not even close for an influence and then my internal thoughts dynamically rests. Slowly but surely... “Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.” ― Albert Einstein
  23. So before starting my first Experimental Poem, i'd like to introduce the concept. This type of poem that I invented is composed of no rhymes whatsoever and of really experimental sentences that represents concept of fascination (Technology, the void, the cosmos, etc...) and at the end of the poem there will be a quote which will define the moral of this poem. So without further ado let's start this first one: I was a young boy, curious of what the universe was made of. Then, without a sound, everything turned to endless shapes. With my curious eyes, full of bright intents. I was staring at what was forging in this endless void of madness. I also saw agressions from what seemed to be an eternal and continuous cycle. Beneath it, there was my past, full of trangressing pictures. But, then the shapes turned into dynamic masses, telling the future was near. Interested, my eyes looked at the things and they were telling me that my end was not in the future. And if I would look at it more often then maybe my life could be free from those countershapes that forged my past. Then, none, that... is the only thing I could possibly describe of what happened next. None, yeah they were none. “Forgetting is something time alone takes care of, but forgiveness is an act of volition, and only the sufferer is qualified to make the decision” ― Simon Wiesenthal
  24. Winter night Your feet crinkle with each step you take through forest path. The night is young, not a cloud in the sky leaving the twinkling gems to hang in the night unobstructed. A gently breeze blows the snow about creating trails of white to streak across the ground. Snowflakes are but memories, some happy some not. Each are special in their own way. They all eventually fall blending into the ground amongst so many others, most forgotten or lost amongst the sea of white. Then tell me, what of the moon and stars high in the sky? Well, those are the highest moments, ones saved to be preserved, worthy of being egnologed and shown to the world below. The sparkling moon brightest of all, reflecting off the pool of scattered thoughts as if to say they are no less important. Stare upwards at the good, and learn from the bad. For once a new year has dawned it shall all be washed away with the warmth of the sun. New memories shall grow from the land to be nurtured and explored. Most will go un-noticed but some will stand out like the stars.
  25. Croaker John Come listen here to a tale of fear; it’s worth at least a penny, and pass it on to all your friends, (assuming you have any.) His mates can call him Croaker John, but his mates are very few. He's Captain John Crocutamon, nothing else, to the likes of you. Now Croaker John likes a jest, he does. He dearly loves a jape. And if you laugh and roar with him your life will be shipshape. Now the captain's laugh is the queerest thing, a mix of giggle and squall. But don't be afeared young sailor, he's a hyena, after all. Another thing about his jokes, my fine and fair sea-rover, if they're funny once, they're funny twice, and over and over and over. So don't forget, me hearty, loose your laughter in a flood, for if you don't give a great guffaw, the price will be your blood. For though our dear old Croaker John has a laugh you'de call a boomer, in some ways, (just 'twixt you and me,) he has no sense of humor. He laughs and chuckles all day long as if his life's a lark, but mayhap you put one foot wrong, he'll feed you to a shark. The captain keeps a brindle hound, a fierce and surly tyke, which trails him like his shadow, and her name is Marlin-spike. She has a nose for mutiny and lads who shirk their duty, and well she knows if a jack-tar's mind dwells on the captian's booty. Beware her eye if she comes anigh and fixes it upon you. Ill deeds she'll find deep in your mind, she'll know them afore you do. If loyalty she finds in thee, with sharp fangs she’ll defend you. But never forget; treat her like a pet, and she'll use those teeth to rend you. Old Croaker John’s the master of a sloop called Nightingale. In a swifter, trimmer craft my lad, you'll never hope to sail. But you'de better be the captain's man if you step upon her deck, and be quick and true and trusty if you value your young neck. For our captain John Crocutamon and his canny Marlinspike are a pair not to be trifled with, but this bargain they will strike: Do your duty well, and laugh like hell at whatever John finds funny, and you're bound to land in adventure grand and have pockets full of money. poem and artwork © Geonni Banner
