  1. I can safely say that I'm happy with the life I have so far. I have a roof over my head, I have freedom to work on hobbies such as reading, writing, or exercise, my dad is helping me learn how to drive and I feel like my skills are improving rapidly Overall, I've been feeling so relaxed these past couple of weeks. Life is just beautiful. The worries and doubts I used to always have are now nonexistent Every now and then shit still happens and I face problems like every human being but I manage to get through them and work things out with little to no trouble What about you? Are you happy with life? Have you found your inner peace yet? Do tell
  2. Enough with the long faces! There are several discussions going on about negative sides of being adult fan of MLP and stereotypes that bronies have to face. It's time to talk about all the positive things that people will associate with ponie fandom! For starters: Bronies are talented musicians, artists and writers! Bronies are kind and accept other people! We are so sweet that I want to puke rainbows. Now you give it a go, be positive!
  3. Greetings, good people of MLPF, and welcome to the wonderfully upbeat positivity thread! Here, we focus on the positive, and positive only. Share all the good things currently happening in your life, things you love about yourself, things you love about the world, et cetera and so forth. Anything goes here as long as it's happy and cheerful. Help boost your own self-esteem, as well as the self-esteem of others, help out your fellow man, try not to cause any trouble, and happy posting!
  4. I'm asking you exactly what the topic says. Having things to look forward to is the driving force of motivation, the only thing to keep people positive and uplifting. Depression sets in when you have nothing to look forward to. The main things I look forward to are my art, and friends. My art keeps me positive, because I can feel myself getting better. I feel that my friends I've met in the past few months are one of the biggest driving forces, and keep me moving forward.
  5. Let’s just jump right in. Talented Her talent is recognized by ponies such as: Hoity Toity, a fashion bigwig (literally) from Canterlot (Suited for Success – review coming soon ); Sapphire Shores, the Pony of Pop, who also mentions that Rarity has been given at least one rave review as an up-and-comer in Clothes Horse Magazine (A Dog and Pony Show); the ruler of the land, Princess Celestia (A Canterlot Wedding); and in her latest focus episode, Prim Hemline, the fashion community of Manehatten and even a costume designer for the Equestria equivalent of Broadway (Rarity Takes Manehatten). So her skills as a fashion designer have been recognized in at least two major cities. It’s pretty apparent that if it were not for the fact that she consistently puts her friends ahead of her fashion career, she would already be a huge success. It’s not that she isn’t good enough to leave them all behind and achieve her dreams. She chooses to remain with her friends, and she is not willing to sacrifice her friendships for success, give or take the odd wobble. Sophisticated This is not a result of serendipity. She was not born into a high class family; quite the opposite, in fact, as her parents and Sweetie Belle make entirely clear. She has lifted herself up to that level, through nothing but her own hard work and determination. In Sweet and Elite, she proves that she fits right in with the most upper class ponies in Canterlot. All it takes is one chance meeting with Fancy Pants to set her up as the Pony Everypony Should Know. Even if that was a case of right time and place, she still made the best of the opportunity, as she later impresses the upper class ponies in the absence of Fancy Pants himself. Even in real life, making the right connection is often necessary for one’s virtues to be recognized, so I believe Rarity should still be given credit for making the most of her lucky break. And despite knowing who and how important he is, she didn’t just sycophantically agree with everything he said, like the hangers-on were doing. She was willing to vocally disagree with him. Finally, that wonderful accent, darling? That sort of accent has to be worked on and polished, much like a diamond. In many senses, she is a self-made mare. Which bring us to the next point. Hard-working She owns her own business, Carousel Boutique, and she runs it alone. She has no employees, purchases her own supplies, finds her own raw materials and she makes all her own dresses (I’m looking at you, Suri Polomare). With the possible exception of Applejack, she is the one who works the hardest out of all the Mane Six, and even then, Applejack has her family to help her, while Rarity goes it alone. Related to this, she is trendy, and I mean that in the most positive sense. Rarity does not follow fashions, for the most part. She actively looks forward and tries to anticipate what fashions will be popular in the near future, and she strives to stay ahead of the game. Another thing she works really hard on is her appearance, and that is the next thing I want to look at. Beautiful, Cute and Charming She is gorgeous. That mane deserves its own billing in the credits. Purple being one of my two favorite colours doesn’t hurt her case either (the other one is green, if you were wondering ). I’ve also always been partial to ladies with blue eyes, and Rarity’s peepers are just the right shade. The only pony (both in universe and out) who can compete in the beauty department is Fluttershy. The indications are that (apart from mane extensions ) Fluttershy is beautiful without making any effort to be (just look at how little mud her mud mask needs in Green isn’t your Colour) whereas Rarity works at being beautiful. She wears false eyelashes, frequently goes to the spa, and apparently brushes her mane a hundred times before she goes to bed and uses curlers. She brings out her own beauty. To me, the essence of Rarity is bringing out the hidden beauty in things. She strives to be better in her appearance and her behavior, and wants others to be better as well. She takes raw materials and produces beautiful dresses from them. She finds gems hidden in the ground, and if they weren’t already cut and polished naturally, no doubt she would cut and polish them as well. Out of all the ponies, her cutie mark is arguably the most appropriate to her character. She is also amazingly cute. Just look at her expressions. How can you say "no" to this face? Finally, whether you agree with how she employs her ability or not, Rarity is able to charm just about anypony. And she does it without ruffling any feathers or making anyone feel bad to have her turn her attention to them. Even when she does it to get something for herself, she makes her target feel good about it. Caring and Forgiving Rarity is often shown to be very insightful into her friends. She recognizes when others are putting on a brave face, like Rainbow Dash in Sonic Rainboom. She noticed that something was bothering Twilight in Lesson Zero. She was the one who comforted Spike after he rampaged through Ponyville in Secret of My Excess, and defended him against Rainbow’s teasing in Dragon Quest, before trekking half-way across Equestria with Rainbow and Twilight in a dragon costume she made herself with no prior notice in order to keep an eye on him. And finally, despite being in a deep depression, she came running to the rescue when she thought her dear pet Opal was caught in a tree in Suited for Success. When the Cutie Mark Crusaders were found out to be Gabby Gums in Ponyville Confidential, Rarity was the only one who actually tried to explain why what they were doing was wrong, instead of just turning her back to three young fillies who had made a mistake and felt terribly guilty about it. She forgave her friends at the drop of a cat (pun intended) in Suited for Success, forgave Sweetie Belle for ruining the cloth she spend a long time making in The Stare Master, and forgave Fluttershy when she said some extremely hurtful things to her and Pinkie Pie in Putting your Hoof Down. Intelligent; Quick Thinking; Adaptable; Witty While Twilight may be the acknowledged as the brains of the Mane Six outfit, Rarity shows that she is far from vapid herself. She very quickly gets the number of the Diamond Dogs, and outfoxes them thoroughly by the end of the episode. In The Crystal Empire, she not only learns a traditional hat-making method overnight, but also manages to think up excuses for Spike’s sudden departure in order to keep the crystal ponies from realizing something is wrong. She came up with a great idea to explain why they had a fake Crystal Heart, which Applejack totally ruined. She also showed her ability to learn things quickly when she volunteered to work on Cadence’s hair, and despite skipping a step, she managed to correct the resulting disaster in time (Game Ponies Play). She also delivers her fair share of snarky lines. Tough Not only is Rarity both beautiful and intelligent, but she can kick serious flank when she wishes to. She may be a lady, but she can take care of herself. Notable scenes include her giving Applejack a roundhouse kick to the face and lugging around a huge boulder in Return of Harmony; coming just short of first place in a race alongside Sweetie Belle, and being athletic enough throughout that Sweetie Belle had no idea that it was not in fact Applejack running with her in Sisterhooves Social; facing down three teenage dragons in Dragon Quest (and delivering a fabulous line at the same time) and outright smacking Changelings in the face with a solid right hook during A Canterlot Wedding. Let’s face it, for somepony who is often called "prissy" she’s really quite a powerhouse. Dramatic Rarity is generally agreed to be one of the most entertaining ponies to have on the screen. Her flair for the dramatic and tendency to chew the scenery make her a riot to watch, and provide some of the series best lines (“I’ll destroy her!”; “Fighting’s not really my thing, I’m more into fashion… BUT I’LL TEAR YOU TO PIECES IF YOU TOUCH ONE SCALE ON HIS CUTE LITTLE HEAD!”; “Of the all worst things that could happen, this is the worst. POSSIBLE. THING! beat What? I really mean it this time…”) Of course, not everyone appreciates that aspect of her as much as I do, but I’m including it as a positive here in any case. Complex Now to be fair, none of the Mane Six are what you would call simple or flat characters. There is a lot of depth to all of them. Still, I feel that Rarity goes beyond the others in this category. Rarity wants good things for others, but she also wants good things for herself. She's caught in a tug of war within herself between these two motivations. For example, consider Green Isn't Your Colour. In that episode, Rarity wanted to be happy for Fluttershy and her success as a model, but she was also very jealous of the attention she was getting. And then she felt guilty for having those feelings, especially when things seemed to be going wrong for Fluttershy. That's just one example from one episode, and I could list more, but I think that suffices for the point I wanted to make here. She has her flaws, as well, which I will deal with in another entry at a later time. Now you may have noticed that I have yet to mention what most consider the foremost aspect of her character, her generosity. That’s quite deliberate. I don’t need to defend Rarity’s generosity in order to justify her being my favourite pony. Not when there are all these other great reasons to like her. If you want evidence of that, I’d recommend getting hold of @@ghostfacekiller39: he has a list. So that was Part 1 of Looking at Rarity, focused exclusively on what I think to be her good points. In Part 2, I want to look at some of her more questionable personality traits. I’ll examine the things fans point out as reasons not to like Rarity, and I’ll explain which ones I think are sound, and which ones I think would be Look forward to it, and of course, stay Rarity side up!
  6. We all need to rant about things every now and then. What if I told you that there is a fun way to rant? Introducing aggressive positive rants! All you gotta do is what exactly the title implies. Rant about anything positive in your life aggressively. I'll give an example of myself aggressively ranting about my love for lemon flavored treats: Oh. My. GLOB. Lemon treats are like my rejuvenation food! I just wanna eat them all day like a lion chews on it's meaty dinner! Orange treats are no match for the lemony goodness of those new cake pops from Starbucks or the lemon custard tarts from my local market! Lemons on their own are good but LEMON TREATS ARE DA-BOMB!!!! I can burn people's houses down... with the lemon treats. Pumpkin spice treats? nah. Chocolate fudge treats? Maybe. Lemon treats??? HECK YEAH! .
  7. It's pretty simple everypony! you post one your minor flaws here the below user then quotes you, compliments your flaw or simply says something nice about you and then they also share one of their flaws and so on. This forum game is aimed at sharing flaws since nopony is perfect. (keep it light hearted) I'll start. One of my flaws is being lazy like I want to get smarter and stronger but I can easily sleep for over twelve hours lol.
  8. Sorry, @Adam Burt for completely stealing this idea from you. I'll start with the few positives. POSITIVES My experiences with Paladins in general. It was actually a really good game until Hi-Rez killed it by making change after change that was unnecessary and backwards, through caving into the wants of their upper management. I played this game for months, and actually became one of the Top 100 Barik players (Based on KDA and Win Rate) in the world in that small span of time that I borderline one-tricked him. The game had quite a few sour moments with me, but for the most part it was actually positive. Introductions to Steven Universe, Star VS the Forces of Evil, and We Bare Bears. All of them are among my favorite cartoons of all time, all for their own reasons. Probably the best of the year. All three series in my opinion are very solid (though from what I've watched SvFE's 3rd season isn't looking too good...). My marathon of Star Trek. I already had an admiration for the franchise before I really got into it around the beginning of last year, but it was heightened. Quite frankly, most of the franchise is pretty solid with a few hiccups (including the entirety of Deep Space Nine... Luckily I only watched the "best" of that series)... I became a lot less naive about politics, and began to realize how despicable 99% of politicians really are. I realized how bad mainstream politics really is. I even found political voices of reason... on YOUTUBE of all places. Some actually good LoL changes for once (aside from Zoe, Ornn, Kleptomancy keystone)... NEGATIVES The rapid deterioration of my computer's condition. It really got beat up this year. It's so bad in fact I'm actually using my dad's computer instead. Before the beginning of this year, it ran so smoothly... Now it's basically potentially salvageable junk. Politics as usual, but even worse. Removing my ignorance came at a cost, I know. I realized how bad the political system of the United States has gotten over the past 50 years, but 2017 was worse than average. We have an incompetent man child with tiny hands in the White House (to be fair, Hillary would be no better), Net Neutrality is going away (even though only 9% of Americans actually AGREE with that, and I bet I know who they are), and not to mention the absolute absurdity of the Democratic Party's "resistance" (yeah right, it's not a resistance, you're literally voting FOR what he proposes most of the time...). Doesn't help with all of the mass shootings this year, bombings on innocent civilians, the worst military leak in US history... Losing my old account on here because of sheer laziness. The basically zero progress I made towards getting anywhere with my life. I've had to put up with so much s**t last year, it'd be enough for an entire DECADE. Seriously, I got attacked by an ENTIRE subreddit, a forum account (and my IP address also) perma-banned by an fascist Brazilian mod for literally no reason aside from the fact he didn't like what I had to say about things involving Paladins and his method of moderating, and having moronic teammates who I could swear were 2-year olds in half of my Paladins and League of Legends matches, the insane number of special snowflakes that suddenly presented themselves... That's just about the worst of it, but I could probably sit for days listing all of the stupidity I've had to endure even like that. Tried to commit suicide twice, because my situation got more hopeless by the month it seems like. RIP Big Ben. See you again in 4 years. Though it was a pretty nice meme for a little bit. Dealing with more of my Dad's inane drama than usual. To be quite frank I wish I didn't live here now. All of the special snowflakes In other words, it was, overall, a bad year for me. In fact, the worst I've ever had.

  10. (DQ stands for "Daily Question" it is a new theme me and SugarfootWillie started recently.) I have the impression that most everything in America is negative and focused on murders and beatings. Why don't we change that around and find a few things to be proud of.
  11. Been thinking about making something like this for a while now, so I guess I'll give it a shot~ Pretty much, I'll be hoping to update this blog weekly with good news and lovely moments and so on that I've heard about lately, since I feel the world can tend to overlook the bright side of life from time to time. Obviously, this isn't to say that the world is perfect or that anything bad happening should just be casually dismissed, but these bad happenings already get plenty of attention and responses elsewhere, so I'd like this blog to be free of that as much as possible and instead focus on people and moments that aren't so talked about ~Good Happenings~ Or in case you're not one for reading, here's some nice pics/gifs/vids I've seen very lately :3 ~Lovely sights~ And that's about all I can think of for now Depending on how this goes and my motivation for it, I might do another entry like this next week too. For now, you're welcome to comment any news/images/events etc. you know that brightened your mood, I'm trying to be sorta thorough but I'm sure there's a ton that I'm unaware of! C'ya next week, perhaps~
  12. Try not to get lost comparing yourself to others. Because the only person you're competing against is yourself. There are always going to be people better than you and there are always going to be people better than them So be the best YOU can be. If there is even one person you inspire, if there is even one person who looks up to you, loves you, and is willing to go with you every step of the way, then you are already on a good path Keep moving forward and do not stop. As you embark on this journey to find and accept yourself, you will soon discover that the opportunities and possibilities in life are endless and broad
  13. Imagine the everyday view from these cabins
  14. The Dolomites in Italy. Each photo of the mountain range just takes my breath away. Can't imagine what emotions and what awe I would experience being there in the flesh
  15. One of the most majestic domesticated creatures in the world IMO. They seem to love the outdoors. Would love to own one someday. I'd take 'em hiking with me every day
  16. You're not alone in your struggles. You're not alone in your pain. We all share similar stories. Like dandelions swaying in the same familiar breeze
  17. keep running to the promising horizon and leave all the bad stuff to be forgotten in the dust.
  18. “It is in your power to withdraw yourself whenever you desire. Perfect tranquility within consists in the good ordering of the mind, the realm of your own.” ~ Marcus Aurelius, Meditations What a wonderful view of the Space Shuttle, Endeavour silhouetted against the atmosphere. Here the troposphere is orange, the stratosphere is white, and the mesosphere is blue. Amazing how these layers are colored, especially the troposphere. Definitely puts the atmosphere in a whole new perspective.
  19. Life is too short to give a shit about things that don't matter. Forget the little things right now. Move on.They won't matter. Look forward to the future and focus on the good life ahead
  20. Because I will champion this show and fandom till I die, I thought I should make this thread for people to list things they like about the show. It can be anything, the setting, certain characters, particular episodes, different themes or ideas, just as long as it's about the show itself and it's something you consider good. For me, I love practically everything about this show but one of the first things that hooked me to it was the setting. That it struck that rare balance between being idyllic but not perfect. It wasn't the conflict free sugar bowl of the past where nothing happens but it's not Pokemon levels of darkness under a veneer of innocence.
  21. Self-explanatory title is self-explanatory. Sonic '06 has some of the best level design I've ever seen, also a killer soundtract. Green Lantern (2011) had amazing special effects.
  22. Faqs/questions about this project: This is pretty much a repost of a good section of my introduction, but it gets the message across on what I wanted to talk about and I thought I'd start an official thread for it... Since someone wants to jump right into the project without waiting for others to join in first. *Looks at DarkPony* Lol! I'd be grateful if I could get more support for this! And let's not forget the great article, "To Derp is to Love. To Love is to Tolerate." Seeing there are people that are mentally disabled, love Derpy, and may even look up to her, shouldn't we have an episode that represents Derpy Hooves in a positive look? We should have an episode dedicated to people that are mentally and physically disabled; and how they're not to be looked down upon! We should request Hasbro to make that episode, and Derpy Hooves should be in it! It's been done before in a PBS episode of Clifford The Big Red Dog where Clifford and his friends met a three legged dog and learn to treat him no differently from other people. Why not one for My Little Pony, a show that teaches tolerance? Here's what I thought for an episode so far: 1. Rainbow Dash formally introduces Derpy Hooves to the ponies when they see her talking to Derpy. 2. Derpy's trademark love of muffins and mail delivery work is shown, but there's another aspect of her that we have not seen; she often visits a class of special need fillies. Often she entertains the fillies and help them see that they can still have a bright future even with their disabilities. (I've also thought of an explanation for her bubble cutie mark and thought she could have an extreme talent in blowing bubbles in all kinds of shapes to entertain the fillies). 3. Derpy will be portrayed to have a lazy eye disorder: either strabismic or anisometropic. She'll be clumsy due to her eyes not giving her good visual aid. She will not be mentally disabled but she could have a learning disability like visual and auditory processing disorder, but that might be a bit much... 4. The Mane 6 spend time and get to know the fillies and Derpy. 5. There's some festival going on in Ponyville that they have to set up. Derpy and the fillies try to help out but the ponies make the mistake of telling them they don't have to partly due to their underestimation of the fillies' abilities and Derpy's clumsiness. 6. Trouble occurs, which the Mane 6 try to fend off, but Derpy and the fillies end up saving the day. So... Anypony that would be into making this happen and ask Hasbro to make this episode? We could discuss further in another thread if enough ponies are interested. So yeah! Since this is "another thread" would anyone else be willing to help and support this project? So far, DarkPony and I discussed that we could create several stories with the similar plot we had in mind: the Mane 6 learning to treat ponies with disabilities like people and not to underestimate them. It'd really help if there were people that actually have disabilities to support us on this project! We need all the input we can get on portraying those with disabilities correctly!
  23. "In major cities around the world, it is commonplace to see abandoned dogs and cats on the street. Two college students, Violeta Caro Pinda and Felipe Carrasco Guzman, decided to raise awareness of the plight of homeless pups in Chile with a creative approach. The duo tied balloons to street dogs with phrases such as, “hug me,” “play with me” and “don’t leave me.” The heart warming video shows what a mix of creativity and compassion can do to engage strangers and spread a bit of kindness." Source: I think this is a great initiative. Look how happy are those doggies! Even if they change one dog's life, it's still better than nothing. Single people can do small changes, but a great change is always a sum of many small changes as such.
  24. You know what is one thing (of the many) I love about this fandom? It's the lack of elitism. By that I mean, we don't feel a certain slice of the general population would somehow "taint" us. Political affiliation, religious belief, national boundaries, even perhaps deeper idealogical stances; it's all just so much details. That isn't to say differences and debates don't arise, but we aren't a mindless hegemony of a herd. (Ironically) Rather, the differences in mindsets are celebrated aspects of our fandom. We feel like we can talk and discuss calmly and reasonably between people we might otherwise not give the time of day. Why? Because no matter what, we are all bronies. That alone gives us enough common ground to perhaps put ourselves in our opposites horseshoes. Another distance we have from the definition of elitism is the open policy of membership. Anyone who self-identifies as a brony pretty much is one. Other fandoms and communities might require rituals or shared equipment, or even just small gestures, but being a brony requires little more than just watching the show and deciding you are one. Sure some, myself included, may wear this like a badge of pride or a title to hold, but we don't generally place ourselves on a pedestal as being fundamentally "better" for having made the choice we did. At the most extreme, some might view ourselves as exemplars to inspire, but even that has less negative connotations then being part of essentially a brightly colored Illuminati to lord over the world for ulterior motives rather than love of your fellow man.
  25. Welcome to the *insert Topic Title here* where myself and a few other ponies will try to post up funny or happy content Daily so you can cheer up and not be so Sad or Grumpy Because the content can be anything like videos or music or stuff like that *edit* i forgot to put in a crucial word
