My earliest gaming memories, unlike most kids of the late 90s to early 2000s, weren't all about Pokemon or TLoZ. I spent most of my days playing games like Dune 2000, Command and Conquer, Masters of Orion, StarWars Empire at War and a myriad of other RTS / 4X titles (most of them being made by the glorious Westwood Studios). I've played a-lot of more modern titles too such as Starcraft II, Supreme Commander, Sins of a Solar Empire, all the Age of Empires games, and all the Total War games. Anyway, what are YOUR favourite RTS / 4X games? My favourites are C&C RA II, Sins of a Galactic Empire (a Star-wars mod of Sins of a Solar Empire) and Empire: Total War. Edit: Did I just mention Supreme Commander 2? Better fix that before I remember go into conniptions again *shudders*

So, which series do you prefer and why? I've always had a preference for the Total War Series as it presents real time combat on a massive scale.

Hello everypony. I was wondering if anypony here knows about a strategy game series called Total War. I personally have Empire Total War and Total War : Shogun 2 and I'm planning to get Rome 2 and Napoleon. For those of you who don't know what this game is, it is basically a strategy game divided into two parts. You have the first part, which is turn-based. In this part, you move your troops on the campaign map and you improve your territories, construct farms to feed your population, manage taxes to improve your economy, recruit new soldiers, etc. You also have access to the diplomacy screen where you can manage trade agreement and make treaties and stuff with other factions. The second part is actually the battle part where you lead your troops on the battlefield. It is real time strategy and quite realistic. I don't like Shogun 2 very much. Not because the game is bad or anything, it's just that I don't like the era it is set in and I think the diplomacy is seriously messed up (For those of you who have the game, I'm talking about realm divide). About the difficulty setting of the campaign map, easy is too easy (other factions are passive and only move troops around the map without actually attacking or doing anything offensive). Hard is too hard (other factions are like destroy, destroy, DESTROY). So, I'm playing on medium and I'm happy... There is a separate difficulty setting for the real-time battles and I play on very hard because I'm awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EQWcB1vXXg
