This has to be the quickest onboarding to announcement in the history of MLPF. I have no idea what I’m about to say here as I am typing this. Back when I joined this place there was a core group of funny, whimsical, and caring users. One of them was @Silly Hugsalot. He was as like Loki to my Thor during several silly events. If you ever run across a confusing meme on here about me being shipped with buttons Mom, he is one of the two to blame. That is why it gives me great please to announce he is now on Events Team … which I lead. Also. He’s now going to be part of the victims for MCM. Wish him luck! He’s been a great friend over the years to me. I’m sure he will be as great a staffer as any can be.

Fillies and gentlecolts and every creature big and small. The forum is about to be overwhelmed with energy! MLPForums and the Events Team welcomes @Magical Mare to staff! So many in this community shine, so it’s weird sometimes to single one user out. You’ll have to excuse me this once. Once and a while they shine so brightly and want to help so much that it would be criminal to not tap into what makes them special. Some of you honestly know what I’m talking about here with her. Magical Mare’s kindness and drive to be a friend to so many, and cast a light of fun and positivity wherever she goes is almost unmatched. With this onboarding we have a solid team to start bringing back steady and new events! I don’t want to take away from Magical’s announcement though. Also I have some fics to read. Welcome to the team you wonderful hyperactive Pony!

All right, a while ago, I made a thread on Pokemon first world problems. Today, I decided why not step it up a bit. So guys, list your first world problems for Mlp Forums. I don't have much right now so we'll see what people post. So, post away!

After a little bit of discussion, we came to the conclusion that making an all-inclusive “Ask a Staffer” thread would be a great opportunity for members to get to know our team! How it works: Anyone may simply ask a question in here, no matter the subject (so long as it remains appropriate of course) and a random staff member will come around to answer you. The questions can be serious, fun, pertain to certain individual staff members, whatever! All in the name of getting more familiar with our hard-working staff members. There’s no telling who’ll be the one to answer your question, as it will simply be answered by whoever is available at the time. Here is a very handy index of each staffer: https://mlpforums.com/staff/

A grand hello, howdy, and hey all to every member of this fine community! Some of you may know me, but I'm sure there's a large segment of the member base that has little to no inclination of who I am. This is the reason why I am posting this blog. I want to give you a simple and/or detailed look at who I am. Of course plenty of this is covered in my profile, but I hope expand on that! In any case, let us begin! Before I begin, I want to engage the members here! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Introduction: Who I am now I am PathfinderCS; a member of the staff here at MLPForums. Specifically I work as a sectional staffer in the "Friendship is Magic" section of the forums; meaning that my area of duty includes Show Discussion, Sugarcube Corner, Equestria Girls, and any of the related sub-forums. I only became a member here on May 31, 2014 after doing a Google search for forums related to Friendship is Magic. Considering this one seemed to be the most active, I gave it a try, and I have never regretted that decision. If you're curious, I am 28 years of age, and I have a LOT of experience on the internet. My experience with message boards & forums extends all the way back to 2000/2001. Here's a link to my member profile on what is probably the first forum I ever joined: http://forums.spacebattles.com/members/captain-spyro.929/ Yes, my name was Captain Spyro back in the day, and that is what the CS in PathfinderCS refers to. Anywho, I currently work for the Whitesville State Bank located in southern West Virginia. I work as a loan clerk, which doesn't match my degree at all. You see, I graduated from Concord University in 2008 with a degree in geography; with an emphasis on mapping & GIS. I also minored in history. I also currently live with my parents, so I really haven't made that big step in living by myself yet! Along with that, I'm single, though I'm not complaining. My last relationship was an online one that lasted from 03 to 07, and I never regret a moment of it. As such, while I'm not exactly looking, I wouldn't say no if the right person came along. About Me: What I'm into My main hobby is gaming. I started as a young kid when my biological father got me a Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas. I have so many memories playing Mario, Donkey Kong, and Duck Hunt! Very fun times! Later on, I also got a Sega Genesis from Christmas, and I was introduced to games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Castle of Illusion, and Virtua Racing. Again, so many hours were lost playing these great games, among others. Later I was introduced to the original Playstation, and thank to a certain purple dragon by the name of Spyro my status as a gamer was finally confirmed. Spyro was pretty much my icon, and still is! I loved those games so much; as well as other games. As time moved on and I got older, I was able to enjoy even more systems and games. Now that I can provide for my own self, I can indulge in my hobby much more than I could in the past. Because of my heavy interest in gaming, I'm not as much into movies and TV as I used to be. My preferences tend to lean towards fantasy, science fiction, and adventure. As such, it's no wonder my favorite shows include the various Star Trek series, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (old & new), and Game of Thrones. Of course, I like other shows too like Mythbusters and decent documentaries dealing with history, science, and social science. As for movies, my favorite movie of all time is the Lord of the Rings; by Peter Jackson. I tend to count all three as one. Along with that, I love the older Star Wars movies, Indiana Jones, various Godzilla flicks, King Kong, Titanic, Dragonheart, and others. I'm not much of a book reader, though I do read from time to time! In regards to music, I am mostly into metal (power, progressive, symphonic), orchestral music (Classical and movie/tv/game music), and ska punk. My favorite metal bands tend to be Symphony X, Rhapsody of Fire, Sonata Arctica, Fairyland, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, Pathfinder, Therion, Nightwish, Black Sabbath; among others. The only ska punk band I listen to right now is Streetlight Manifesto. As for orchestral composers, my heart beats for JS Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Stravinsky, and others on the classical end, and James Newton Howard, Jeremy Soule, Inon Zur, and Christopher Franke; among others. Lastly, I'll talk about sports, and I'm not heavily into sports right now. Do I like some sports? Of course, but I'm just not into them all that much. My favorite sports tend to be hockey (Pittsburgh Penguins), soccer/football (Bayern Munich, Sporting Kansas City), and certain motorsports. I grew up on NASCAR, but I have drifted away from it as IndyCar, World Rally, and my true passion, Rally Raid, took hold. Your Turn: Give Me Questions! Now, it's your turn! Is there something you want to ask me? Something you want me to elaborate on? Perhaps there is something I could here? Please, ask me your questions. I'll be happy to answer what I can!

When MLP Forums needs a another moderator, we consider those who have exhibited solid understanding of our guidelines/rules, self discipline, good social skills, and a strong willingness to learn. @Splashee now takes on a purple coat for his new, corresponding Royal Guard rank! Working alongside @Zero, @Totally Lyra, @Creamy Arty, @C. Thunder Dash, @Lightwing, and @Lucid_Nightlight, he will help continue to keep MLP Forums safe and ban those who refuse to watch My Hero Academia. Welcome, Splashee! We know you’ll do well PLUS ULTRA

Welcome to Discord Graphic Design, please enjoy the memes. A bit of forum history for ya'll noobs who only joined in the time since early 2015. Back in the days of the early empire, a bright-eyed sectional moderator named (for the sake of keeping privacy we'll refer to him as '=Cleotic Mimcard=') had the bright idea to create a chart of alignments for the most active of the forum's daily staff. And so, working alongside the Octavia's Hall moderator at the time, the two made a chart for the ages that detailed the various kind of magical horses that ran the empire - from the mighty alicorns to the modest of fillies. *Le Click Me* I wonder how many names you can recognize~ Well, it's 2018, and since bringing things back is such a hit media idea, we decided it was high-time to make an updated list. This time, our dear friend =Cleotic Mimcard= needed no help in creating such a chart. Sure, he's no artist, but one can accomplish quite a lot with a lot of patience and a copy of 'Graphic Design for Dummies'. *Please, Sir, Can I Have Some More Click?* And now for some boring disclaimers! 1: Neither chart lists all staff members on the forum. Only staff notably active in the daily staff chats (then Skype, now Discord), and/or display daily forum activity are chosen. If one doesn't regularly show up to work, how can they expect to be included in spontaneous after-work shenanigans? 2: No, the quotes are not real. But Jeric and I like to think they're pretty accurate. Love you, Passion. 3: Vector insert credits: 'Discord as the Mad Hatter' by CloudyGlow 'Discoshy Pillows' by TimeyMarey007 'Blue Flu Discord Lamp' by punzil504 'Pinkie's Friend, Madame LeFlour' by Vectorshy 4: Mentions, seeing as I don't trust people to find this on their own I'm a caring friend and love making things easier for people~ @LadyMercury, @PathfinderCS, @Dark Horse, @Jeric, @Artemis, @Derplight Sperkle, @Lightwing, @Passion, @Randimaxis, @Venomous, @Trix or Treat?, @Ganondorf8, @TwilySparky, @Quinch, @Clod, @Mesme Rize Ah, do you hear that, lads? The rightful king of the Lounge has returned~

Symphony no 1: Prelude Most times, bringing on a staffer is a big deal. This decision impacts us as community leaders, the individual being taking on as staff, and most importantly the community itself. What Administration looks for in a forum staffer can change over time. This changes with past experience, where are needs are, the dynamics of the community, and how we want to implement a vision. One of the more important factors that we should always consider is the individual's overall interaction, experience, and knowledge of the community itself. While not critical to a great staffer, living within the community you manage can be instrumental to understanding, enjoying, and feeling committed to the community itself. We are all part of MLPF, we all experience MLPF and enjoy in our own way. It is when we have an investment on here in many elements of this our forum that can prove instrumental for the personal growth and even enjoyment of volunteering here. It pays dividends. Symphony no 2: Poetic This takes me to our newest staffer. He was ever present when I joined back in early 2014. He has been a commission artist, a musician here, is a frequent RP'er, gives ready advice to users on composition, has participated in many events, and is no slouch in both the General Discussion and Pony parts of this site. I have seen him grow tremendously as a user over the last six years. He brings a sense of passion in most things he does. The ability to grow is so absolutely valued as we manage a dynamic community that services a changing fandom. Elasticity is so exceedingly useful here. Symphony no 3: Amity Being a moderator is far far more than being a constable enforcing the global rules. In fact that is a very small amount of the job. While we all have our distinct personalities, our new global moderator has impressed me with his insistence for respect to all users, to participate in conversations across the forum, engaging users and his peers, and offering value added suggestions to improve the community. Almost immediately upon accepting the position, he was asked and accepted the responsibility to judge the current music contest. In short, he will be a valuable addition to staff both from inside our castle chambers, to outside the various villages across the forums. Symphony no 4: Drumroll Please welcome @C. Thunder Dash as our newest member of the MLPForums Moderation team. While he is a global moderator who can assist in all aspects of the site as he continuous learns the ins and outs of moderation, you will probably see him often hanging out in Octavia's Hall, where he will be interacting with artists, giving musical advice, highlighting new art and talent, and cultivating an increased focus on the creative side of MLPF. I've known him for almost as long as I have been a member, and I'm proud to see him be invited onto staff.

@Lucid_Nightlight is rejoining staff! After a stint in Roleplay he left for places unknown. 1000 moons later he returned, wearing the scars of mischief and smelling of burnt pudding and lemon flavored crazy glue. He came in to the Thone Room barking orders to prepare the Forum for nonsense of the greatest magnitude. It was at this moment that we decided that his sabbatical and journey made him the perfect Moderator. Lucid, welcome to staff sir! This is always a learning experience and I look forward to working with you closely. You have proven to be quick to pick up how we do things, and I trust that you will be a reasoned and understanding staffer here.

She has earned her stay and my complete trust as she takes the next step! May the ZERO REQUIEM commence! ALL HAIL LELO-errrr, ZEROOOO! Is that a storm coming?! Nope! It’s a staff announcement! Every now and again, we open up positions for sectionals to become moderators. It’s a step up from being a sectional, as they are presented with many more responsibilities. We take on those who we feel are best suited and @Lucky Bolt was no exception. For those of you who don’t know, Lucky was a sectional for Beyond Equestria for awhile after she took a bit of a hiatus. Upon her return, I knew she was ready to take on the moderator role. After training one on one with her and giving her time to take all of the information in, I knew it was time to officially announce her! So, everyone please welcome Lucky Bolt as our new global moderator! I am so proud of you! I am honored to have been your sectional instructor as well as your moderator instructor. I know you will be an amazing addition to our team

So, it's been a little while since we've last had one of these! Not too long ago, @Totally Nyxie stepped back into his role as a Canterlot sectional. One of the familiar faces to be seen greeting new arrivals, Totally has gone above and beyond in helping our community remain a welcoming and friendly environment even in this post-pony world. Always quick to lend a helping hoof, spot issues that need addressing and maintaining a very persistent desire to spread the love of Roses, Lyres and, uhh... Nyxies throughout the fandom. Totally has shown that he is ready to officially step up to the next level and join the Global Moderators of MLP Forums in their ever-vigilant quest to rid the lands of evil and non-Lyra related imagery. Wait... ignore that last part. Congratulations to you, Totally!

Quite some time ago we realized that our antiquated RP system needed reimagining. In an effort to do this a few old staffers and new staffers are working on trying to get some new things done. One of the new RP staffers is @TBD and this one is a keeper. He’s been sitting in the wings for a while waiting to be announced, but as I start putting everything I have in the gas tank toward RP World and Equestria Empire I need to start putting the new guy up front and center as the newest Roleplay Staffer. His first task will be to start adding in Canon Characters into the database and working on some great launch Roleplays. And yes, post Baby Yoda memes to welcome him. Not because he asked, but because it’s Baby Yoda!!!!!

So I've noticed that certain groups of staff arent being featured in the daily birthday list, like events and RP staff. Had it happen to me. Noticed it happen to others. The forums are a good place to celebrate and it kinda sucks when nopony knows and you're glossed over.

Okay, Admin and Mods get all the fun announcing ponies who run this place, but do they ever let us mascots do it? Noooo. What am I, chopped hay? Years ago this crazy pony by the name of @Lightwing joined the forum, focused on one goal, to ship every member with ever possible combination of members and characters. Jeric was so impressed with this guy that he decided to make him staff, and also as a way to bribe him. You see Lighty had this thing where he shipped Jeric with Buttons Mom. Long story. Jeric’s plan backfired and by giving LW staff powers he created a monster. Lightwing grew as a person over the years, weathering many storms with grace and calm. He became one of best Moderators we ever had. He became a legend. He left quietly out the back door with a few kind words and a farewell wave. I lit a candle every night hoping for him to return and return he has. MLPF welcome back LW to the Moderation Team and will be running Canterlot and shipping all users mercilessly until another village is in need of his services again. Welcome back Lightwing!

Our history and mythology is full of those who have returned. It is one of the greatest feats a hero or villain can do! Let us take a look at some of the greatest returns in history Michael Jordan returns from retirement to lead the Bulls to several more championships. MacAurthur returns to the Philippines fulfilling a promise made earlier. The Miracle of the Meadowlands saw Herm Edwards return at unprobable fumble to win against the Giants. Luke Skywalker returns to fight his daddy before losing to a short circuiting prune faced geriatric wizard Han Solo returns as a prunfaced geriatric daddy Some king dude in the same movie as elephant fighting shield surfing elf man returns! After being gone in most of Season 3 Derpy makes a triumphant return at the season 3 finale. The Rock returned because he smelled what someone was cooking! Kenny Loggins braved the Danger Zone to Return to Pooh Corner Yet none of those returns hold a candle to the greatest return in history. Yep! Effective immediately @Totally Lyra has returned to his place on staff to help manage the Canterlot section working with @Rikifive and me to answer questions, gather Feedback, and troll users. Welcome back my dude! He has already taking some great initiatives with things and I look forward to him making things better around here.

Thunder! Feel the thunder! Lightning and the thunder! Thunder! Every now and again, staff here on MLPF seek out potential candidates to dedicate their time into working with a specific section such as Canterlot or Octavia’s Hall. This helps ensure that these sections remain appropriate and fun for everyone. We put said individuals through rigorous training to prepare them for the challenges of patrolling their designated section! Please welcome the newest Beyond Equestria sectional @Lucky Bolt As someone who was a sectional for BE, I approve of this Lucky has shown nothing but enthusiasm, confidence, and readiness to learn ever since her training began. She is undoubtedly ready to take on Beyond Equestria and the deep, dark trenches of the Debate Symposium! You’re time as a Wonderbolt begins now, Lucky. I have complete confidence in you and I know you will make all of us proud, newbie!

Fillydelphia Radio is ready to take on new Broadcasters! We're happy to announce, with the arrival of our new radio software, we're finally accepting new broadcasters on Fillydelphia Radio! "How do I go about applying?" First, you'll need to join our Discord: Fillydelphia Radio Then, message Set-L or Ossy, and we'll work out the details! "What do I need?" All that's needed is a show concept, and some Icecast-compatible broadcasting software, which is easily available on the Internet. We can help you get access to music and other resources. You also need an internet connection (SpeedTest upload speed of at least 0.5MBit) A microphone is important. You don't need an especially good one, but a quality one will sound better. A computer (running macOS, Windows, Linux, Unix, SunBSD, etc) is required, as we don't know of any good quality tablet/mobile products available yet. "What shows are you looking for?" Almost anything. We're a community station, so we think that the shows should be by the community. Whether you're presenting some news, doing a talk show, or simply spinning some beats, we're interested! "I have no experience..." You don't need any. As long as you want to broadcast, are willing to speak on air, and can spare a few hours a week to do so, we're interested! We are willing to give anyone a chance to build their confidence and skills with us, and we're also willing to provide references for broadcaster's resumes and such. People are more inclined to listen to somebody, rather than a bot running a playlist, so don't be afraid to talk. Something as simple as reading out the songs as you play them is a great start. "I want to do a show, but it's not pony related" We're still interested! Chat with us, and we can work out the details from there! "Will I get paid?" We are extending this offer to take on new broadcasters as a volunteer position only. If you are looking for a paid position, we recommend talking to bigger, properly funded community radio stations. This station does not operate for financial gain, nor will it ever. So, if you want to try your hand (or hoof!) at broadcasting, jump in our Discord and talk to Set-L or Ossy! We hope to hear from you real soon! The Team at Fillydelphia Radio.

ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE? *not a real event Story Time With Jeric So for several years one of the most helpful individuals on MLPF helping users out hasn't been staff. It's been one of the most friendly, least aggressive, and probably one of the best visual in-joke comedians on this site. Obviously we wanted this guy on staff. I jumped back on board as an Admin almost a year ago and within a few days I was like, "We need this guy! This guy's fantastic." Everyone agreed. We contacted him and he seemed interested ... so I said to myself I need to get this guy interviewed ASAP. I'll get him set up on staff in a week. How well did that go? This is not an exaggeration. Joking aside, I am pleased to announce @Rikifive will be stepping into the role of our dedicated staff for Canterlot, focusing on Site Questions and Feedback. I hope to work really closely in the coming months to improve communication and maybe even solve a few minor annoyances. Even though Riki is going to be our help Pone for the community, recently he has been helping out with some event related items. On a very personal note, this was my first MLPF staff role here. Since then only a few have filled that spot and all have been major players on MLPF over the years. Riki, doesn't have to fill shoes though, he is already a major player here. I genuinely can't think we have ever had a better person for the Canterlot section since I've been here, and that includes me. Riki, you already own this section. Spread them wings.

"So, I hear that we may have a new Admin joining our ranks soon. "Oh, fawnderful! A new acolyte for deer puns! "Path..." "You remember what happened to the last Admin?" "And the 3 before them." "I have no eye deer what you mean." "For real, doe?" "I'm quite fawn'd of them, actually." "Oh come on!" "Aren't they not endeering enough for you, Dark? " "ANYWAY! We should probably get things ready to greet them." "Alright then. Who is it anyway?" "Well, according to this, it's... "HELLO THERE, HOKAGE'S!" "...Oh deer." (Dramatization. May not be historically accurate.) -- Whew! It feels like quite a while since we've last had an announcement like this. Every once in a new moon, an individual of the forums displays the tenacity, patience, understanding and empathy that comes with taking up the reigns of leadership among the community. The task of seeking out a new administrator is never an easy one. I firmly believe that each of our staffers who have volunteered their time to keep this community an enjoyable environment for all nurture each of these traits in their time among the team. Each has the potential to one day lead the direction of this forum, though not all may choose to do so. Sometimes, we seek out those whom we feel are ready to take that step, and ask if they are willing to step into the role of MLPF Administration. @Venomous has long displayed her keen moderating skills for nearly 3 years on the MLPF team, keeping a proficient eye over the realm of of Beyond Equestria. No small feat for a section which is commonly regarded as one of the more difficult to moderate (many, many tales can be recounted about DP) and has always approached her position with the kind of flair and finesse that mark a fine staffer and an even better community member. Ever eager to learn more, she took initiative to ask about one day being entrusted with greater responsibility, and from that point on was firmly set in our sights as being the next of our clan to join the ranks of the high council of MLPF! And so, it gives us great pleasure to announce that @Venomous takes on a splash of blue and becomes the next Community Administrator of MLP Forums! Each of us here have complete confidence in her ability to do the role proud and to continue being a stalwart member of this community. Her demeanor, work ethic, intuition and natural personality will no doubt take her a long way in this next stage of the journey. Congratulations to you, Venny! You're going to make an amazing admin!

The room is dark. You hear noises all around the house. Creaks, shudders, and the rasping sound of the unknown can frighten the unaware. However one thing helps to ease your fear of the dark unknown... ...a nightlight! A lucid one at that. I would like to formally announce that @Lucid_Nightlight will be lighting up the dark unknowns of the Roleplay section as our new sectional. Give him a nice lucid welcome! P.S It really isn't that dark in RP. Don't be afraid of us there!
-
With the increased emphasis on Events and some event related projects coming down the line, the Events Team has agreed to take on another staffer to ensure that we can stay on top of everything. Stepping into the ring is @Denim&Venom who becomes the latest official member of the Event Team in the specific role as Event Coordinator. He has definitely been active with many events including the World Cup event (which is about to resume shortly). Please congratulate him and wish him the best of luck in the new role.
-
A bit ago I started an initiative to create a new group of staffers on MLPF that were dedicated to community events. Since I started that team one individual has become leader within it, always coming up with idea after idea, supporting the rest of the team, administration, and working very independently when needed. MLPF has quite a few opportunities and needs that I want to tackle going into the new year, so Events will need a focal individual that can help to keep things moving forward as I focus on reworking RP and looking at other areas within this community that can be more fun and active. Effective immediately @Lord Valtasar will be taking a role as Team Leader for the Events Team. Please congratulate him on all his hard work and wish him the best of luck going forward. From an outward glance this should be almost unnoticeable for the community as I expect that LV will continue to be the charming and highly actively party planner that he always was, but with more responsibility, pressure, and stress. :P J/k He's gonna do great.

Back in May if 2015 I was made an Admin. My first staff hire was for A young and talent individual named @Odyssey I saw something in her back then. A gentleness and intelligence, and a longing to be a part of something. She had taken on being a Sectional in the art areas on MLPF. Her sound judgement and mannerisms endeared her to the entire staff and she was a rising star in the community. Life’s journey sometimes requires us to step away though. Just as I did, and others have, Ody had to leave staff. Her return was something of a surprise. Pleasant to be sure. She was instantly welcomed back on staff with open arms, but what we found in Ody was something of a new person. Time can be a fickle thing. It can age you into bitter shell. Not her. Confidence and wit found a home with her and she made these traits hers. Seeing her chime in and participate has been a great reminder to me that we all grow and change, and sometimes that growth leads to something remarkable. It brings me great pleasure to welcome Ody as our new Global Moderator of Beyond Equestria. She will work closely with @Venomous and @Creamy Arty in making sure BE stays the general purpose communal environment to make friends and memories. Congrats Ody. Welcome home!
