  1. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of these legendary ponies in the upcoming episodes, so let the discussion begin! As for me, my favorite (so far) is Mage Meadowbrook. Not only is her character design lovely ("I really like her mane!"), but I love listening to her accent. I think it was neat how her legend has been mentioned as early as the start of season 5. I included Stygian in the poll as well, as I expect he's got some fans. While he's technically not one of the pillars, he is responsible for their existence, and, indirectly, the Elements of Harmony too. So, who is your favorite, and why?
  2. I mean think of it, we have yet to get an answer as to where this darkeness came from. Well here I give my theory on how it came to be and who may be responible for it. Comments are Welcomed #MLPFIM #MYLITTLEPONYFRIENDSHIPISMAGIC #GROGAR #HASBRO #DHXMEDIA #MLPTHEORY #THEORY #THEORIES
  3. Ok, so I know this isn't a story but i need help. I am currently working on my OC's backstory and i'm kinda stuck. So, i need another pony to write about and what i could add to help me get in the writing mind set. I have a set of ponies and a brief summary: Capricorn: Male, Unicorn: He was Starswirl's partner and was the first Changeling king. He was erased from history when he was bitten by a Changeling maggot in case the ponies would begin to fear Starswirl as well, Starswirl was ordered by King Anubis to destroy any trace of Capricorn's connection to the Royals or Starswirl. King Darus: Male, Alicorn: He was the Alicorn of Justice and the brother of Cosmos (Celestia and Lunas' father). He married Princess Nyah (The Alicorn of Nature and the cousin of Galaxia) and had a son named Otis. He was the king of Sendaria and was loved by his people yet he faced a constant struggle against the threat of war from the close West, past Orberia, by a land of dragons named Gnar (na-rr). Queen Allegra: Female, Pegasus: She was the mother of Cadence and wife of Eros (prince of Cloudsdale). She felt like an outsider as she was a Pegasus living in a world of Alicorns. King Cosmos created the Alicorn Amulets so that non-Alicorn rulers ruling beside Alicorns would be able to be on the same level. The Amulet gave Allegra magical abilities without having to possess a horn and increased strength. King Garin II and Queen Gillian: Male and Female, Griffins: They were the last monarchs of Griffonstone. They fled their kingdom after the Idol of Boreas was lost when Garin was fighting the Arimaspi. They had no children and their relatives where all murdered or they escaped. They ended up in Horseshoe Bay, then they travelled past Apple Loosa (Which used to be a kingdom named Appalia) and they finally laid to rest in Saddle Arabia. They lived there for the rest of their life. What can i do to make this more interesting and have more depth? P.S: I have the whole timeline of most species and their kingdoms and rulers from before Equestria was created, so if you want to know then i can tell you. Thanks!
  4. From July until September 2017, I wrote a (very long!!) fanfiction for the show in which the Mane Six discover that Princess Celestia and Luna have a brother, Stellas Spatium, who is returning to exact his vengeance on the pair after being banished to another dimension. Now, at the time I wrote it the newest episode was The Perfect Pear and the movie was still a long way off. There are certainly things that have since been explored in the show that mean my fanfic no longer works as if it were canon (there's no mention of Twilight's school in my story, nor of Spike having wings), HOWEVER, there are things I wrote that have since come true in the show!! In my fanfic, Lord Tirek reveals to Twilight that Starswirl the Bearded is alive and hiding somewhere outside Equestria! In Shadow Play, Twilight discovers Starswirl is alive and attempts to free him from prison. In my fanfiction, Queen Chrysalis teams up with Tirek to get revenge on Starlight and her friends. In the newest episode, Chrysalis creates "The Mean Six" for the very same reason. There's other things too like the fact that Tirek is returning later this season and I'm pretty sure Starlight becoming an allicorn (which happened in my fanfiction) will be happening at some point, too!!!
  5. -WELCOME TO STYGIAN AKA PONY OF SHADOWS FAN CLUB- In the season seven finale Shadow Play, the six "Pillars of Old Equestria" with Mistmane, Flash Magnus, Somnambula, Rockhoof, Mage Meadowbrook, and Star Swirl the Bearded, representing the Element of Strength had a thousand-year-old friendship problem that only Starlight Glimmer realized. Long ago, the Pillars were brought together by the unicorn colt Stygian to battle a great evil as known as the sirens. When Stygian later turned into the Pony of Shadows, the Pillars acrificed themselves to imprison him in limbo. In present day, Applejack retrieves Rockhoof's shovel for a ritual to free the Pillars from limbo. When the Pony of Shadows is freed along with them, the Pillars team up with the Mane Six to separate Stygian from the darkness and ban it to limbo once again. RULES Rules of this thread;-Do not post pictures of other ponies in this thread (except the images with other ponies including Stygian/Pony of Shadows). They belong in their respective fan club threads.-Do not hate on another fan club, for example posting "Apple Bloom is better!" in the Princess Luna thread.-The global forum rules still apply, of course, so no NSFW pics. Shipping is fine, but keep it appropriate. This is the Stygian / Pony of Shadows thread, please only post here about him.

    Season 7 finale

Greetings dear brony community, I'm new here so I don't know if this topic has been around here (probably has been but I'd like to hear your opinions) So my question is, what do you think about the season 7 finale, called shadow play pt1 and 2? I really liked the finale, loved the fact that they've brought Starswirl back, and his element called sorcery..The name of the element itself amazes me. I also loved that the whole season 7 has been similar to the season 4, meaning that you had to pay attention to the previous episodes to actually understand what's going on. I'm refering to the episodes where every pony from the mane 6 got a duty and needed to spawn the pillars of old equestria. Also no matter how Starswirl intelligent was he still learned his lesson of friendship (according to the ending of the 26th episode).
  7. Mistmane as we saw is pretty powerful, she was accepted into one of the best magic schools of her land, seemed to excel there, and when she returned she was able to defeat Sable Spirit, a pony who was so powerful no residents of the empire would even stand up to her. Mistmane was able to defeat her easily. Her magic is based on Life seemingly but she also has her own interesting attack magic, like with the dragon laser thing. She is clearly extremely powerful and I think in the top tiers of the show. Starswirl is considered the most powerful unicorn to ever live, he has created hundreds of spells and some of those include things like time travel. It can be noted that Starlight may or may not have created her own sub reality with Sunburst, or just warped reality, both are incredible, and she is on par with Twilight, who is said to be weaker than Starswirl. We also saw in a small shot in Shadow Play, he could lock magic with the Pony of Shadows. These two are easily some of the most powerful characters in the series, but I am curious how they would do if they fought each other. Or if they just had a contest of who was stronger. Personally I think Starswirl would win, just because we know more about him and what he is capable of, but I think they are very close, and I totally want to see more of what Mistmane is capable of.
  8. Think about how starswirl will react to finding twilight went to where he banished the sirens.
  9. Is Starswirl behind certain events? When one thinks about it, it's certain hard to argue with that possibility. I mean if you look at events, like for 1. Flurry Heart's birth. You have Luna and Celestria saying that even They can't explain how an alicorn can come to be via natural birth, espiecally one with the powers that Flurry Heart has. So one would have to wonder, if maybe a certian wizard had/has something to with it. Now I know some of you may say, that being in the Crystal Empire had something to do with Flurry Heart's birth, and that could be true too. But if that was the case, wouldn't all the citizens of the Empire be alicorns too? , Just saying. A 2nd Event, would be the ending of the "Cutie Re-Mark", when the time spell got sucked up into the portal on it's own, or did it? One could say that it got caught up in the closing of the portal, ok, but then why did it look like something from an unknown force was guiding it. This is where I think Starswirl may have had something to do with it, and perhaps he took the time spell back into his poession in his time for safekeeping. A 3rd Event could be the whole "Nightmare Moon" deal. I mean when one thinks about it, how could somepony like Luna be chosen to be maliputie by the Nightmare magic, when as everyone saw in "A Royal Problem" Celestria could have easily be chosen as well. Well, IMO, I believe when Starswirl chose Celestria and Luna for their respective duties, he knew what he was doing, by having Luna raise the night and Celestria raise the day. Because he possibly wanted to see if darkness was more easily influenced than light. A 4th and Final Reasoning, Is Starswirl's probably watching all this unfold, because perhaps he has a portal that let's him see into the future, and thus allows him to change things to go a certain way so that the outcome he forsees doesn't come to be. What I mean, is let's take Flurry Heart's birth for example, perhaps he saw (after the King Sombra Deal) that not just The Crysral Empire, but all of Equestria needed a protector that as he/she grew, their power would grow as well, to the point, that not even someone like Tirek could stand up to their power. Thus, perhaps he summoned the same kind of magic that he bestowed upon the sisters, and cast on it on Cadence during her term, so that the baby could be gifted upon her birth. Another example, again would be the "Cutie Re-mark" Time-Travel deal, you can't tell me, that if he's watching, that he didn't maniptule the last destation for Twlight and Starlight to end up in to show what Starlight's actions could eventually lead too. Because in IMO I think he did. Overall, I believe that if this ever really touched upon in the Show, or even the Movie for that matter, I have this gut feeling that this may be the direction they go in for Starswirl and thus would explain why certain events and moments took place the way they did. But what do you all think? Let me and everyone else know. God Bless. Document1.rtf
  10. I learned lighting better. Yay!
  11. One, very constant complaint I've seen held against Starlight is how "OP" she is, and how she hasn't earned her abilities. Having put some thought into it, I'm not fully sure I agree. Now, I'm not going to argue that Starlight isn't powerful, talented, and intelligent. She is clearly all of these things, Twilight herself says Starlight has more magical potential than anypony she's seen, Starlight is clearly impressive. However, I'm going to argue that she might not be as good of a match to Twilight as she's thought to be. First, Twilight and Starlight have had three main "Battles" so far throughout the series. At the end of the season 5 premiere, throughout the season 5 finale, and at the start of the season 6 episode "Every Little thing she does". In each of these fights, Starlight was shown to be very powerful and skilled with magic. Capable of keeping up with Twilight even, but is that totally true? In the season 5 premiere, when Starlight is preparing to blast the Townsponies, Twilight flies down and easily blocks the spell with a shield. Starlight is unable to break through this shield, and even comments with obvious frustration that she's studied that spell for years, how could Twilight do it better than her? This here seems to set up that Twilight is more powerful than Starlight. Yet, later, in the finale, Twilight and Starlight seem more evenly matched, how is that? Twilight was shown to be superior in the premiere, so what gives? Well, for one Starlight has probably spent the past year constantly studying and improving her skills. You know, when she wasn't stalking Twilight anyway. But, there's something else there...Starlight doesn't have a reason to hold back, Twilight does. Starlight's goal is to destroy Twilight's friendships by stopping the Rainboom, and she can do this any number of ways. As long as she stops the Rainboom from happening, it doesn't matter how she did it. She can go all out, even at one point just blasting the filly Rainbow Dash out of the sky to stop it. Twilight, however has to be more reserved. Twice in the finale, we see Twilight's own magic create problems. First, when we see Twilight and Starlight's fight distract Dash and the others from their race, and second when Starlight does a well timed dodge, avoiding Twilight's blast and making it hit Dash instead. If Twilight uses her full power, there are too many risks. Not only just of her disrupting the Rainboom, but there are other ponies around as well, they could get hurt during the battle, and Twilight more than likely isn't willing to use lethal force against Starlight herself either. Starlight does not have these concerns at all. Their third battle in season 6 was also just a training battle. Nothing very serious at all. The two were keeping pace with each other quite well, but I sort of doubt either of them are going full power even then, they don't want to really hurt each other. The final blast from Starlight that ruins the whole library might say otherwise, but that's only on Starlight's behalf, isn't it? If it shows anything, it's that Starlight has less restraint with her magic than Twilight, and Twilight likely wasn't expecting her to go that far. She did manage to still save herself with a shield against it after all. There's also the matter that, ever since she moved to Ponyville, Twilight's studies have shifted. She no longer studies the old school glowing horn method of magic as much as she used to. Her main focus has changed to studying the "Magic of Friendship", that's even what she became a Princess for! All that time while Twilight was distracted from her old studies by Friendship (Not that that's a bad thing, it's clearly good she spends so much time on it.) Starlight was probably continuing to work solely on her own magical power and studies, only taking time off to manage her town. One final detail I'd like to add, is that a Unicorn with such great power isn't entirely foreign to this series. We've heard of one before, anyone remember Starswirl the Bearded? He's clearly been set up as being quite powerful and intelligent himself, Twilight even looks up to him as a role-model, he has his own travelling museum and everything. It's not impossible for Unicorns to reach great heights of power without becoming Alicorns. Of course, this isn't definitive. Magic power and talent in this show is hard to gauge when it's all so vague. Characters exact power isn't ever clearly defined, and the rules are very loose and at times non-existent. This entire post could be proven wrong in season 7 even. I just thought this might give a different perspective of things. What do you think?
  12. so In the journal of the two sisters it is stated that starswirl can travel through time, sometimes appearing younger when he returns.. is it possible that starswirl never died - he just traveled through time and never came back? Or perhaps when he returns from his last time travel it will be 1000 years later by accident? If so this would provide a great opportunity to return sometime in the series.. your thoughts?
  13. As we all know, Twilight Sparkle becoming a princess in the Season 3 finale was a huge game-changer. I love the idea of Twilight solving Starswirl's spell and saving her friends in order to become a princess, but if this is the reason that she became a princess, I feel that Twilight should've went a step further in her discovery. She "solved" the spell by pairing up her friends with their corresponding elements of harmony, but to me, a solution like that to a spell like this is not satisfying enough. The use of the elements of harmony in the finale left me with some fairly legitimate questions. "What would happen if somepony that wasn't in the Mane 6 got their cutie mark switched like in this episode? How would they regain their memories and change their cutie mark back if they did not have a corresponding element of harmony?" These are some thoughts that I've had for a while now, and although this is a bit late for discussion, I'd still really love to hear everypony's thoughts on this topic. Please let me know any and all of your theories and/or solutions that will justify Twilight earning her royal position. Your participation in this discussion is greatly appreciated.
  14. Oh man. Ohhhh, man! *squee!* ok, while I was rewatching Rainbow Rocks, it's always bugged me that the Sirens weren't really focused on getting out of the human world, if they hated it so much there. But the season 4 FiM finale, with Tirek teaming up with Discord, the future season 5 finale, with Starlight Glimmer going back into ghe past, to prevent the mane 6 from ever getting their cutie marks, through the Sonic Rainboom, and RR's ending, with the sirens just running off without really being reformed, gave me an idea. What if, since Starlight really isn't evil to be rainbow blasted by friendship and turned good, what if she made a reapearance in FiM season 6, but with a new plan, after having been whooped however by Twi and friends. What if Starlight wanted revenge badly enough to hit Twi where it hurt? Say, like, infiltrating canterlot Castle, maybe robbing Sunbutt and Luna of their cutie marks by a sneak attack, teleporting into the past, when the guards come after her, maybe finding Starswirl, and learning of his casting the sirens into another world. Then convincing past Starwswirl to travel to the future (present) with a lie that The royal sisters in her time had their cutie marks stolen, and his magic could help. She brings him to the present, claims the culprit went into the mirror to the human world, the Sirens waiting on the other side, wantin revenge for Starswirl's banishment in the past, posess him, Starlight works with them to get posessed Starswirl to go horn to horn on Twilight. Or something to that effect. Thoughts?
  15. I will give the facts we know. • They ALL took place at least 1000 years ago. Sombra happened exactly 1000 years ago, as that was the time that the Crystal Empire was gone. This is also true for Nightmare Moon, as she was in the moon 1000 years. Discord however, has no definite time. • The elements were first used on Discord, then Sombra, then Nightmare Moon. We know the elements were used for the very first time on Discord. It is unconfirmed whether it was used on more ponies than Sombra before or after NMM. Now I will give Explanations that by the information I was given, can be derived as true. • Starswirl was alive during the reign of Discord. He banished the Sirens over 1000 years ago. So he was alive at in some time period between 1000 and 2000 years ago. He was alive at the end of the reign (this is canon). Which means Discords reign must also have ended at the very most, 2000 years ago. 1000<Discord <2000. • Sombra's Tyranny and Nightmare Moon's unsuccesful coup happened within years, perhaps months of each other. Nightmare moons return was in Season 1, and Sombra's Return was in season 3. Which means NMM happened before Sombra... Wait! That cant be right, because Luna was there to banish Sombra. We meet again Plot Holes, we meet again. So lets assume that i misheard Celestia when she said 1000 years ago (refering to Crysal Empire), and actually said over 1000 years ago. •So this is what we have gathered. 2000 years ago > Discord > Sombra > NMM > 1000 years ago. Any Information about Starswirl, the elements, or these events can help us derive some more precise numbers. These are very wide time frames. Does anyone know anything from the Extended Universe perhaps, or simply something I am missing that can whittle down these numbers?
  16. Almost every brony who has watched mlp from season 2-season 4 knows who Starswirl the Bearded is. However, after watching Drwolf's idea of a Starswirl episode, I couldn't help wondering: If Starswirl appears in an episode personally to Twilight and friends, what would he be like? Who would make the best voice actor for him? And which out of the different designs would be best?
  17. What exactly was the point in grooming and watching over Twiligh to get her to make friends, discver a brand new type of magic that is stronger than Alicorn magic, and crown Twi princess, if Sunbutt isn't abandoning her throne and duties, and up and leaving, never to be heard from again? Yes, she probably did it for extra defense in Equestria, but since Sunbutt and Luna aren't connected to the elements, which have been put back in the tree of harmony, and Twilight learned how to raise the sun and moon in their absence, what role does Sunbutt really have, now, with Twilight and friends as the new guardians of harmony, with stonger magic than the Alicorns themselves, and with Twi knowing how to raise celestial bodies? And while on the topic of Twiligh, by extension, does anyone ese think that the cutie map will eventually lead her to Starswirl, and somehow tech her cherished idol the importance of friendship?
  18. It's finally here: My Discord video! A look at Discord and his origins, which are likely tied closely to the Tree of Harmony.
  19. I've heard a lot of people wondering what Starswirl the Bearded's spell was supposed to do. After all, they never really say in the episode. First of all, I don't think we can count cutie mark scrambling as an intended effect of the spell. I've heard people ask "So it messes up ponies cutie marks and then teleports the caster away?". I think that's faulty logic. How many things fulfill half their intended purpose when half assembled? If you try to use a half assembled hairdryer it will probably electrocute you, and that's not because electrocution is half of what a hairdryer is supposed to do. I think it is safe to assume that its intended purpose has something to do with the Elements of Harmony, seeing as how both its castings effect them. So what would Starswirl be doing with the Elements? It's stated that he doesn't understand friendship like Twilight does. Many people have headcannoned that this means he didn't go out and make friends at all. Even if that's not true I think it's reasonable to assume that he didn't have a group of friends who could activate the Elements. So I think he was trying to make a spell to artificially activate the Elements of Harmony, using magic rather than friendship. When half made it activated the energy of the Elements, but didn't direct it, so it just scrambled around. When completed it actually activated the Elements. What does activating them do? We've seen them do two things so far. They can Imprison/banish things as well as purify/de-evil things. So, I think that when the elements were activated, and Twilight just happened to be the thing they were all pointed at, they banished her. Sending her to a metaphysical and possibly semi-timeless plane. The same as what I think happened to Nightmare Moon. I don't think she was physically on the moon (it wouldn't account for her face being on the whole thing), and she didn't seem quite "thousand years of isolation" crazy. In fact she seemed to be picking up right where she left off. Of course, this is getting into a whole different headcannon. So Twilight got banished, and maybe she got a little purified too as kind of final step towards princesshood. Then Celestia shows up to rescue her. Why could she do that? Well, Celestia is in theory really powerful, and has experience with the elements and where they send things. Plus, she's already been keeping an eye on Twilight. So it stands to reason she saw her get blasted, or she was expecting this sort of thing to happen anyway. So, TLDR version- Starswirl didn't have friends who could use the elements of harmony, so he made a spell to use them artificially He couldn't finish the spell because he didn't understand friendship, and thereby the elements, well enough. Twilight finished the spell, and the elements banished her, because that's what they do. Celestia came and rescued her from wherever she got banished to. What do you all think?
