  1. There's was a topic ''Who's Your Favorite Man?''. now, Who's Your Favorite Woman? mine? A friend from France and other friend (which I called sis), are from Mexico. Also Anna Marie Waters, good female Politican.
  2. Me and my friend were having a discussion on whether or not this is sexist. If a female does something good, you say things like "Awesome job, girl" or "You go, girl". If a female does something bad, it's things like "Lady, how dare you?" or "Stupid woman". My friend is arguing that this is a construct of patriarchy and that it is infantilizing and trivializing women's deeds while adding responsbility to errors. I think that she is looking too far into it. What do you guys think?
  3. I honestly don't think that men face sexism and double standards like how women do. If they do, then why don't they complain about it like how woman do?
  4. Hi, to go straight to the point, I am working on a story and I have just begun to introduce my two main characters (both girls). I describe their personality and there and their eyes, hairstyle, you know, the usual stuff. I then felt like, if I really want my readers to be able to get an image of how these main characters look, how can I really do that. So being a guy that is not in to fashion and pretty much dress however I choose to, I found it hard to describe a Women´s figures. I´ve done some research and come up with that many girls follow some kind of figure shape, like Hourglass shape or triangle shape, when they describe their body and choose clothes. But does all girls do this or is it a question about if your in to fashion or not. I think that, if I can use these shapes in my story it would be a great help but I don´t wan to end up with only, you know, just perfect examples of model girls. I want it to sound realistic but still it´s very good to have some kind of scheme to work after. Thanks for taking your time to read this and a symbolic brohoof to you if you reply /) (Oh and I tried to find the right part of the forum to post this but I´m not sure I managed to, so if any admins move it, Thank you on forehand)
  5. It bothers me how so many of the female characters in action movies and stuff are like the same. The character is a attractive young adult, usually white woman, but the appearance isn't what really bugs me. It's the personality. They are often insensitive, confident, bold, "bad", flirty, athletic, "cool", etc, and act uninterested but fall in love with lead male. It's tiring. Where are the awkward, nerdy girls? Where's the emotional, artsy, unconfident girl who works to gain confidence? Where's the strategic girl who hates battle and tries to find better, more clever ways? Anyone else feel similarly about it?
  6. Hey everypony! So, I have been hunting all around the internet for female apparel that is pony-related for women like me. There are tons of girl MLP clothes, but that just doesn't work for the well-endowed masses. Man shirts can come in sizes that are less predictable and have other issues (like sleeves being too big, etc.) For those of us who are bigger in all meanings of the word, the occasional "junior's" leggings and tees just don't come in sizes allowing enough for height or weight. The best resource I've found has been Etsy. There are some really talented creators there who sell some custom things. However, nothing is officially licensed, and it can be hard to find something specific that you'd want. Have any other ponysisters found a good shop?
  7. So why is it that guys seem to dominate this fandom, anyhow? What I would have expected is that since it would be considered less weird for women to like MLP, that women would dominate as it would be easier for them to get into this show. Instead it's mostly dudes. I have some guesses, but they're mostly speculation. There is the possibility that there is something about FiM that speaks to adult men but not adult women so much. Or maybe there are a lot more adult MLP fans overall, but they just don't participate as much. I've heard it suggested that there is rampant misogynism in this fandom that drives women away. It could be any number of things, but this is something that has puzzled me for awhile. Thoughts?
  8. Nothing, but nothing, grinds my gears quite like being told that all/most bronies are men. I feel erased, which is dumb, because My Little Pony is a really important show for women and feminism and whatnot, and I think genderqueer people get erased more than enough as it is without also getting erased from their happy colorful fluffy pony fandom. So, people of the non-male persuasion, I want to hear your stories about being in the sadly overlooked (and not minority) part of this fandom! Anything related to your experiences as a non-male brony. Questions you can address include Have you ever felt ignored/left out due to your gender? How do you feel about people making jokes about bronies with the implication that bronies are strictly male? Do you think a lot of people in this fandom believe in the "fake nerd girl" myth? Have you ever felt unsafe in this fandom, and how do you feel about the growing stigma that the fandom is an unsafe place for non-males? Anything else you would like to discuss
  9. Have you seen the latest “Google Doodle” for International Women’s Day? It's very bright and inspiring, but why not the Mane 6? It had Dora The Explorer, and Chamki from India's version of Sesame Street (Sesame Workshop produces international versions of Sesame Street all around the world); so why not the Mane 6? Feel free to discuss your thoughts. Happy International Women’s Day everybody and every-pony!
  10. Let's see if we can have a mature discussion about male-female interaction in hopes of gaining a clearer, if not better, insight on how these interactions work. One hotly-debated theory (at least within my circle of friends) is called the "Ladder Theory" This is the site for it if you want to read it on your own. I've summarized it below to the best of my ability from memory. If anyone is knowledgeable in this theory and wants to explain it better, please don't hesitate to do so."][/url] Basically, men and women have their own ladders of how they rate the opposite sex. Men just have one ladder and they rank women based on how much they want to have sex with them down to just being friends. A woman's rank on a man's ladder can move in any direction at any time. Women have 2 ladders, one for how much they desire to have sex with a guy and one for just being friends with a guy. When a woman meets a man for the first couple times, the man is ranked on the sex ladder first. At any time, the guy can be moved over to the friends-only ladder and CANNOT be returned back to the sex ladder ever (or in VERY rare cases). Once on the friends-only ladder, then a guy can be moved up or down based on the strength of the friendship. That's the basic gist of it. Oh and there's something about number ratings that are tied into that too (like "woah, she's hot, she's definitely a 10"). Guys' threshold for the sex-friend cutoff is lower than women's, like for example a 4.8 for guys -> women compared to 7.9 women -> men IMO, I don't necessarily agree with it or advocate it, but I can understand where it's coming from. I'm interested to read what you think even if you have/have not heard of this before.
  11. When I look at how the media represents women, be it in advertisements, or movies, or in games, I see the same thing: Be thinner! Be longer! Be hotter! Have bigger breasts! Have smaller waists! As a guy, I can only hear what effects this has on the female audience. It shocks me, but those images on the screen are supposed to entertain or seduce me. And I was wondering what everyone else thought of the medias' representation of women, and how we can change it.
