Wait what...? This is the first I've heard of this.... so just exactly what is this about? The only reason I ask is because someone or some people I know just might be reading this very sentence in the future. Simply because... I'm about to be you're new documentary. What's a brony tale? I don't see a whole lot being crammed into just a couple hours that could really explain much of anything. That's why my future visitor's are here. Well... you waking up yet...?

To be honest I don't know to much about it. I was looking up random MLP Candice and A Brony Tale popped up. Ashleigh Ball was sent an invitation to the new Bronycon 2014. She says it's kind of weird that she was invited but it was mainly because her rainbow is one of the more popular characters. Her first thought was pervert alert. The movie is gonna be a big film all about her experience with the men who love MLP. Formally calling them selves "Bronies"

To be honest though, that was kind of my reaction when I first found out about Bronies too...

Though, I believe it's a good thing getting this stuff out in the media, so that people don't get this kind of impression in the first place.

I totally agree with the announcement. People should never judge a book by its cover. Bronies are pure examples. I didn't even know what a brony was still I started watching MLP. Lol

I watched the premier of "A Brony Tale" at the Seattle International Film Festival.  It was very well done and entertaining to watch, and the first of the documentaries I'd actually want to show my family and friends.  The audience was primarily non-bronies, and they definitely enjoyed it.

Brent Hodge, the director, was at both showings in Seattle, and Ashleigh Ball was at one.  A few of us actually joined Brent for lunch after a showing, and he's a genuinely nice guy.

The documentary is coming to Netflix in September, and may be in theaters soon.

I found this a couple weeks ago actually. I watched the trailer for A Brony Tale on www.bronythemovie.com and then the suggested links had this:

The first half hour or so is the narrator guy just talking about the history of MLP and everything leading up to the revamped FiM series. The second half is actually interviews with bronies. I like this one a little better than the documentary put out by de Lancie. His version had a lot of bronies who had social interaction issues and somewhat reinforced the stereotypes that I've seen about bronies (IMO). I feel that the interviews in this one show a more accurate depiction of your every-day normal guy that is a brony, but uses artists, musicians, and other well-known bronies that are just great fans. My only thing is that the narrator's voice bugs me a little bit.

All that being said, I'm interested to see how this one turns out.

I bet it'll be really cute.  I personally love documentaries, so I may be biased  :squee:

That was actually one of Brent's motivations for making his doc.  He loves docs, but so many of them leave you feeling depressed about the world.  This is one you'll walk away from feeling a bit better about the world.

This is the first I've heard of it.  Just watched the trailer.  I'd love to watch the movie.  Plus I think it would be really neat hearing about it from the perspective of Ms. RD/AJ herself.  Can't wait.

Just a little related, side note.  This thread reminded me of something I have been wanting to mention.  There's that other documentary, Bronies: the Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of MLP.  I haven't seen it, I just know of it.  I don't know if it's good or what.  Anyway, what I wanted to say is that if it were up to me, I would change the title slightly.  I would change "extremely unexpected" to "inevitable."  That's just how I feel about the fandom.  It was an inevitability, and speaks to the fact that there is something missing in our society.

It's on Netflix. It follows a couple bronies and their experiences going to Bronycon and the reactions of those nearest to them etc.
