ooc (Closed) Dragon Age: Shadows of The Deep Roads OOC [Non-pony/Action]

(edited)

After a rocky first try several months ago, I'm going to give this role-play a second chance.

This is an action RP based on the Bioware game franchise Dragon Age. This can be considered a pre-qual to the first Dragon Age game, as it will be taking place several years before it. This roleplay can be used as a good exercise in character development, since you will be building your own Grey Warden from scratch. Romance between characters is allowed and somewhat encouraged, but that will not be the main focus of this RP.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Things you'll need to know:

Grey Wardens: The Grey Wardens are an order of warriors recruited from all places in society, even thieves and malificar can be among their ranks. They are dedicated to doing whatever it takes to stop the Darkspawn threat.

Darkspawn: Corrupted men who have become monstrous abominations. They show no mercy to those unlucky enough to be taken as prisoners. They dwell underground in The Deep Roads but may sometimes raid the surface from time to time.

There are several types of Darkspawn:

Genlocks:

Genlocks are the smallest breed of Darkspawn. They are quite skilled as rogues and often set up ambushes for unwary travelers. Lower Genlocks fight alongside Hurlocks as foot soldiers.img-2529987-1-04_genlock_archer.jpg

Hurlocks:

Hurlocks are taller and more muscular than Genlocks, but lack their finesse. Hurlocks bolster the darkspawn hoard as shock troopers and enforcers.

img-2529987-2-Hurlock.jpg

Shrieks:

Shrieks are a more rare form of darkspawn that are capable of extreme speed and stealth. They prefer to set up ambushes and strike quickly rather than face their foes in direct combat.

img-2529987-3-Creature-Shriek_2.jpg

Ogres:

Ogres are one of the most feared variants of darkspawn. Their massive size and unwavering constitution allow them to overpower even the strongest of unprepared warriors.img-2529987-4-Ogre_commander.jpg

Ferelden: The county this RP takes place in. It has a relatively cold climate and a diverse population. It's capital is the city of Denerim.

Orzammar: The last, great, Dwarven city. It is relatively isolated but still maintains trade with the rest of Fereldin.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Rules:
- Follow typical RP rules (No Godmodding, no Marry Sues, no profanity, etc).
- There is a maximum of only four players. All players must be active and post at least once a day, preferably more.
- No derailing the plot. All characters should be following Yuril, not going off on their own.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Character Creation:

You will only be allowed one character in this RP. You will need to fill out the Character sheet and post it in this thread.

In addition to the characters I will control, there will be a maximum of two Rogues, two warriors, and two mages AND there is also a limit of five players.

RememberYour character is not a Grey Warden yet! He/she has been recruited into the Wardens, but will not become one until later in the RP.

Character Sheet:

Name:
Gender:
Race: (Human, Dwarf, Elf)
Description:
Personality:
Class: (Warrior, Rogue, Mage)
Specialization: (See bellow for details on specializations)
Technique: (Your characters main fighting style. I.E. dual weapons, two handed weapons, sword and shield, elemental magic, spirit magic, etc.)
Equipment:
Backstory: (This is very important! Detail your characters origins as well as what they were doing when they were recruited.)

Specializations:

You can pick only one specialization for your character.

Rogue Specializations:
Ranger: The Dalish elves train their hunters to respect the wilds as well as master its dangers. Rangers are more resistant to nature damage and have the ability to tame and command creatures.
Bard: Bards do more than telling tales and singing. A skilled bard can make his allies more effective in battle and weaken his enemies with the sound of his battle songs.
Assassin"You see? Being an assassin is more of a career choice than a lifestyle." - Zevron of the Antivan Crows
Assassins specialize in attacking from stealth and making their attacks as lethal as possible. They can dish out more combat damage than most other rogues.
Duelist: Duelists specialize in graceful movement in combat and make themselves much more difficult to hit. Their battle stances allow swift movement and quick counter-attacks. They can also throw off their enemies balance.

Warrior Specializations:
Champion: Champions benefit from bravado and pride as much as caution and humility. Their battle cries are capable of weakening and even terrifying weak willed opponents and they can even knock enemies off their feet with their shouts. Champions can also rally their allies to make them stronger.
Templar: Templars are the hand of the chantry and may also be known as 'Mage Hunters.' in addition to being resistant to magic, Templars are capable of 'cleansing' areas of magic which weakens nearby mages and dispels magical effects (on allies and enemies).
Berserker: Berserkers harness their rage and use it as a tool in combat. They can enter a trans-like frenzy and deal massive amounts of damage. They also excel at taunting enemies and drawing attention to themselves.
Reaver: Reavers are the the masters of pain and death on the battlefield. Hated by the Chantry and feared by their enemies, Reavers can feed off of the essence of fallen foes, making them stronger as others die. The closer a Reaver is to his own death, the more powerful he becomes.

Mage Specializations (Note: all mages can cast simple spells like lightning and fire):
Shapeshifter: Many Chasind tell tales of mages who can become like wild beasts and blend in with the wilds. These shapeshifters are not taught in the Circle of Magi and thus are often hunted by Templars. A shapeshifter can transform into some various kinds of animals, but cannot transform into other humans, elves, or dwarves.
Arcane Warrior: Arcane Warriors use their knowledge of the Fade to join the ranks of Warriors and Rogues on the front lines of battle. They can use their magical knowledge as a supplement for physical strength, allowing them to fight with heavy armor and swords that they would normally be too weak to use.
Spirit Healer: Spirit Healers offer much needed relief for battle-wounded soldiers. Their knowledge of healing magic is unmatched. They are able to magically heal others and even save men from the brink of death.
Blood Mage: "They are to be called Malificar, accursed ones!" - An exert from The Chant of Light
Blood Mages are the greatest fear of the Chantry. They are rogue mages who have used the powers of demons to gain more strength. Blood mages can use their own blood, or the blood of their allies, as power to cast spells. Spells cast with blood magic are more powerful than those cast normally.

Techniques:

These are the possible fighting technique specializations you can pick for your character. You can only choose one.

Rogue choices:

- Dual Weapons

- Archery

Warrior choices:

- Dual Weapons

- Archery

- Sword and Shield

- Two-Handed Weapons

Mage choices:

- Elemental Magic

- Spirit Magic

- Hexes and Curses

two example characters (These are the characters I will be playing as):

Name: Ser Thomas
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Description: Tall and moderately muscular, he has a shaved-bald head and no noticeable facial hair. His eyes are dark green. His nose is slightly bent to the left because it was broken in a duel and never healed properly.
Personality: He has a strong moral code and values honor greatly. He is a strong follower of the Chantry and thus detests apostates by nature. Although he is well mannered and kind, he can become short tempered at those who offend The Maker or Andraste. He knows very little about other cultures such as elves and dwarves and holds some ignorant beliefs about them.
Class: Warrior
Specialization: Champion
Technique: Sword and shield
Equipment: Silverite longsword, silverite kite-shield, silverite plate armor (minus the helmet)
Backstory: Ser Thomas was born into a noble family in Highover. He grew up as a strong follower of the chantry and vowed into knighthood to serve the Maker as a noble warrior. He was later recruited into the Grey Wardens when he lead the defense of a farm-hold from a small incursion of darkspawn.

Name: Yuril
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Description: He's very thin and has very pale skin. His eyes are brown and his hair is grey (it was once blonde). He has no facial hair.
Personality: As a senior Warden, he is greatly loyal to the Grey Wardens and will do whatever it takes to preserve the order. He acts as a mentor to new recruits but can be strict to those who show unfavorable qualities.
Class: Rogue
Specialization: Bard
Technique: Archery
Equipment: Ironbark longbow, inscribed leather armor (minus the helmet)
Backstory: Yuril was raised in Orlais and raised himself to a notable place in society as a bard (in Orlais, bards are often employed as spies). He seeked out the Wardens himself, originally intending to die in the joining or throw himself at the darkspawn so that he could die doing something heroic as a way to atone for his past. When he learned more about the Wardens, however, he chose to serve the Wardens faithfully and has been doing so for twenty five years.

I'm back again for the remake, let's do this.

Name: Connor corrigan

Gender: male

Race: Human.

Description: pale white skin, small scar under left eye, has black spiked up hair and thick stubble has purple eyes, tall and slender build.

Personality: very smart, is very charismatic and a people person, but is also a blood knight, the hidden enemy of the templars, they are the opposite of the templars in every way and as a result, they quite often get into many fights, both sides are well known for their bloody battles, as such the blood knights are feared throughout most of fereldin, they work with blood mages and focus on Combat instead of anti magic spells.

Class: Warrior.

Specialisation: reaver

Technique: Sword and shield

Equipment: steel plate armor steel kite shield and steel long sword.

Backstory: A human noble that became a blood knight after seeing what it was like living as a mage that uses blood magic, Connor decided to put his faith, and his families money behind the order. He has been a part of the blood knights for over 12 years, helping it grow into the feared order that it is. One of Connors most notable moments was at the battle of Dalton castle, where both Blood knights and Templars had gathered to spill the other sides blood.

Well, you mentioned one of my favorite games, so I must oblige your command and join. Hopefully this turns out like DA:O rather than DAII (if you know what I'm talking about).

Name: Alric
Gender: Male

Race: Human
Description: Tall but deceptively skinny, fairly pale has several scars and burns on his body from his unorthodox mage training, long, dark brown hair (kept back), well shaven, pronounced cheekbones, making his face appear gaunt.
Personality: Alric is known to be friendly to those he knows, but cautious of those he doesn't. His age has made him more wise, and he is willing to share his magical knowledge with those he deems worthy. He has a large amount of tolerance for everyone, seeing no reason in discrimination against one for their race or their preference in blood magic.
Class: Mage
Specialization: Shapeshifter

Technique: Spirit Magic
Equipment: Red Steel staff, helping him channel his spirit magic and making it more powerful, simple robes enchanted to also help him channel his magic (basically his staff increases Spirit Damage and spellpower, and his robes increase spellpower)
Backstory: Alric was born and raised in the Korcari Wilds, towards the north end. At a young age, Alric experienced a nightmare, in which a mysterious shadowy figure approached him, attempting to befriend him. When Alric refused, the figure started appearing in his dreams again, threatening to "take him when he is ready." Several years later, Alric accidentally set his hut on fire, with his bare hands. His parents knew that he was a natural born mage, so they sent him away to a witch to train him. His teacher was cruel in her methods, but kind in her heart. Every now and then however, he had to wander into the nearest city to get some supplies for himself. That city was Ostagar. The Darkspawn invaded his homelands and he fought back, turning himself into a bear, something he had never done before. They Grey Wardens witnessed this battle and recruited him, for he was a natural mage.

Just to clarify, this roleplay takes place several years before the first game. The darkspawn invasion hasn't happened yet. Other than that, everything seems fine! I will approve him.

@,@, @,

It's me again! Here's my character, same as last time.

Name: Civera Cosley (I will be referring to her as Civ)

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Description: Civ has long, raven black hair and light blue eyes. Her chin and jaw are narrow, making her face look somewhat thin. She is very tall, even able to tower over some men. Her sturdy, robust body allows her to wear heavy plate armor.

Personality: Civ loves and hates her native land of Antiva. In Fereldin, she is mostly just confused and knows little about how to interact. Because she was raised in Antiva, She is used to violence and is perfectly comfortable with things that are considered inappropriate in Fereldin. Despite her manners and her bluntness, Civ is primarily a fighter for justice, especially in a place as corrupt as Antiva.

Class: Warrior

Specialization: Berserker

Technique: Two Handed

Equipment: A Silverite Greatsword, Silverite Plate Armor, casual clothes

Backstory: Civ grew up as an orphan in an Antivan whore house (Which is normal in Antiva) most of her childhood friends were sold to the Antivan Crows, but she was never bought because she lacked the finesse they were looking for. At the age of fourteen, she escaped from the whore house alone with a few stolen silvers and joined a street gang in lower Antiva City.

She left the gang when she was old enough to fight for herself and later found out that a majority of the remaining gang members had been killed by a cell of Antivan Crows.

She began mercenary work, primarily hiring herself out to nobles in need of protection from Crow Assassins. Her only purpose she lived for was to fight the Antivan Crows as much as possible. She blamed them for how corrupt her beloved Antiva had become and for taking away so many of the dear friends.

The Crows took notice of her and she experienced two failed assassination attempts that were directed at her. She intended to continue until they finally killed her, but her reputation also attracted another group when she was recruited to the Grey Wardens.

Here is mine, I always loved the great lore of that game.

Name: Ümbrgrèss

Gender: Male

Race: Elf

Description: Ümbrgrèss is a very wiry looking pale skinned elf with bright green hair.

He has a long smooth black hair down to his mid shoulders. It is obvious from the scars on his shoulders and wrist that he has been through a lot of punishment from the shemlen authorities

Personality: Very Cold and does not talk much, but deep inside enjoys the sounds of the night and harbors a deep hatred for most (if not all) of the Shemlens.

Back Story: Ümbrgrèss was named as such by the dalish keeper that found him wandering the woods as a small child after the shemlen killed his clan. He kept running from the keeper and it took the old elf's expertise with magic to find him so he called him Ümbrgrèss, which means in the old tongue "Shadow Step". Ümbrgrèss lived with the dales that found him until he came of age, up until that point he had snuck of and had stolen from and even killed a few shems living in the outskirts of the woods, later the shems found their clan and recognized the young elf from the descriptions of the locals. The keeper who had adopted him wanted to negotiate when he learned of their approach, but Ümbrgrèss could not still his lust for shemlen blood and killed them while before they could reach the camp. The scouts' saw what he did and he was excised from the clan, permanently. Ümbrgrèss then traveled to the settlements on the outskirts where the townsfolk recognized him and where to hang him, there a visiting grey warden used the right of conscription to save him, and put his bloodlust to good use.

Class: Rouge

Specialization: Assassin

Technique: Two Weapon

Equipment: A Set of Dalish Armor, 2 Dar'Misu

@,@,

Message to everyone, I've raised the player limit to five additional players instead of four. So we still have room for one more. If that takes too long, however, I'll just start the RP anyway.

Name: Annabelinda
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Description: A small girl with large purple eyes and a mess of short brown hair. Has one long strand of hair wrapped in cloth down her back. she has a round face and a small frame; making heavy armor almost impossible for her to wear.
Personality: A sweet girl and somewhat naive. Annabelinda is very brave when it comes to defending what's right. Even though she broke the Circles rules. She only uses her magick for good.
Class: Mage
Specialization: Blood Mage
Technique: Her main fighting style would be elemental magic, usually fire. When things get dire, she begins using her blood magic.
Equipment: Malign Staff, Blood Promise Robes
Backstory:Annabelinda was raised in the Circle Of Magi; like most of her kind. she had been a weak student, picked on by fellow mages. Her parents died of disease when she was a young age leaving her to the care of a family member who hated Mages. Her Templar guardians had no faith in her abilities and were already deciding on making her Tranquil. When it came time for her Harrowing however, Annabelinda defeated a powerful demon rather easily. Realizing her potential, Annabelinda fled not soon after. She didn't want The Templars to use her for evil. So she is a branded Apostate travelling around Ferelden until the day she approached the Wardens for safety; offering her services in return.

My god. Blood magic should provide some... interesting... interactions. I mean, lucky none of us are Templars. That would end badly. VERY badly. But, two mages, three warriors, and two rogues... sh*t. Damage much?

Now that we have enough players, the RP will begin later today. Or maybe tomorrow...

If you are still looking for people, may I join?

I'm really sorry, but we've reached the player cap.

Two mages, two warriors, and one rouge.

One elf and four humans.

Three men and two women.

Two blood magic users and only one who might be opposed to it.

One extremely downtrodden elf living with a bunch of downtrodden shems.

Five who are morally grey at best.

Man this is going to be fun :) maybe people will start to ask the darkspawn for help against us lol.

The Templers can't catch us if there are no witnesses.

Just out of curiosity does anyone here worships the Chantry?

Ümbrgrèss worships the three darker Dalish Gods: Fen'harel the Dread Wolf, Dirthamen Keeper of Secrets, and Elgar'nan God of Vengeance.

Civera and Yuril both follow the chant of light, but neither of them are strong worshipers. Ser Thomas is the only one here who is a devout follower.
