Man EA's conference was REALLY underwhelming, not very surprising though. The only thing that was even interesting was Battlefront, and all they really did was show us that it's still a thing.

 

I'm intrigued by Criterion's new game though

So, Microsoft was CGI and EA was sports and self-gloss. Oh, and Battlefield Hardline looks a lot like Payday, just saying.

Welp, just when I thought I wasn't going to buy Xbox One, looks like I am now! Microsoft are reselling the console without Kinect, which brings me to the point which will help this sentence make sense:

 

This was by far and away a smashing success from Microsoft and Xbox, a presentation that definitely brings me back on board with them. The Halo Collection, super stoked for that, but not nearly as much as Halo 5. I really want to see what that new Spartan's game is, and overall, well done Microsoft for not making the same stupid mistake twice. Also roll on Destiny and anything else which catches my eye

Personally, I would love for a new Metroid game to be announced by Nintendo but I'm not holding my breath. Having been, nearly 4 years since Other M, it sure doesn't seem agonizing compared to waiting for a new Star Fox or F-Zero game.

So far the conferences seem to be going exactly as I thought they would.  Large emphasis on games over the consoles themselves, but not too many AAA titles aside from a select few we've come to expect at this point like Call of Duty (which looked bland and retread as all buck to me at this point, so glad I'm done with that series).  Quite a few new titles, some of which may be promising, others not so much.  Was glad to see all the attention Microsoft gave to indie developers, really like to see Microsoft encouraging innovation and trying new things with the game developers that work with them.  A couple pledges or promised titles for 2015 here or there (the year I really predict that the new consoles will truly start breaking out with some of their big guns), rounded out by some remakes of classics from prior generations.  Pretty much how I imagine the rest of E3 will go, unless Sony decides to come out with some mind-boggling titles (which I kind of doubt even with Sony, just given that the consoles are still young at the moment).

 

As for myself, I think I've chosen a good time to get an Xbox One.  If I time it correctly, I should be able to get one of the new $400 ones towards the end of the month for almost $300 between an employee discount I've got at the retail store I work at and a 15% coupon that's part of a coupon service they do every month.  The Master Chief Collection (speaking as an avid Halo gamer) looks great, and I liked that there was barely any emphasis on Kinect as well.  Seems like Microsoft's got its head on its shoulders nicely this year and is back to focusing on what we really care about: the games.
