Why Are Bronies Disliked?

Because all people are inherently different and like / dislike a lot of things, subjectively. And they have every right to do so.

Incoming rant.

It's pretty obvious why bronies are disliked. It's because people think it's weird that there are grown guys who watch what seems like a "little girls show" and one to sell toys. And they also think it's dumb for guys to like a happy, cute, relaxing show. I mean why can't any age enjoy an innocent show? Is it because they're too cool for that? Anyone who is an anti-brony probably doesn't like any cute characters or innocent shows in general, they just target My Little Pony because it's the one that's popular for anyone who is not a little girl.

When I first saw glimpses of bronies in 2011-2013 I was never curious as to why guys watch this show. I figured they watch it simply because it's a cute, innocent show with cute characters. I know I like cute characters myself but I always liked the japanese ones more so I didn't care for MLP at first. I used to see teens who wore Elmo and Cookie Monster shirts on, I figured it was to relive their childhood.

As for anti bronies having ponies shoved down their throat, and tired of seeing ponies everywhere. The funny thing is around this same period, 2011-2013, I was just as anti with another franchise. Around that time I was extremely anti Angry Birds (I still am by the way). I absolutely hated those games, hated those characters, and found it unpleasant, and I had Angry Birds shoved down my throat and was sick of seeing it everywhere. I could not tolerate that franchise but I was okay with MLP and bronies. Anti Bronies then troll on sites like YouTube, to get attention or to hope that the brony fandom would end but it never works that way and just leads to flame wars.

While I was very indifferent towards MLP, I was okay about it and found it interesting that guys like a show that seems like it's for girls. Fandoms can be weird but that's what makes them so fun and interesting. One tip I have is to stay away from YouTube comments because they have some toxic comments regarding bronies and MLP.

Let me end with this:

I think people who don't like bronies just don't like the show. They find it cringy or weird and are tired to see pictures of it everywhere, they don't understand why some teenagers/adults like it.

Also, maybe the name "brony" has something to do with it...

What I forgot to mention was that anti bronies think MLP is our only interest and they think we live in our parents basement. That's funny because most houses where I live don't have basements. And almost all of us have different interests outside MLP. Not to mention this show also helped me with my social skills. We're not basement dwellers. :(

(I haven't read through this thread so excuse me if I duplicate someone's post accidentally)

I think one of the main reasons is all the people who saw the pony stuff all get banned off 4chan. This made bronies look like idiots who just spam everywhere (and back then, it was kinda true...with some...) . So people who weren't on 4chan got a negative view on us because we got banned off 4chan which must have looked bad.

Also, Rule 34. Now everyone's argument against this is normally "Every fandom has it's Rule 34 side to it" which is true. The main reason people pick out Pony porn in particular is because the show the porn is based off is intended for kids. Now of course there is other Rule 34 pictures of kids programs, but the thing with MLP porn is the huge following of it, so people seem to take more notice of a large following of fans.

Also, the fact that they are equines, and not humans can put people off and make it seem creepy.

I can see where your points are coming from. Honestly? If not for the overloading of pony content that may or may not cause irritation, i think the main reason is various levels of concern towards what's perceived as deviation from the norms.

Now, i'm pretty sure I've butchered many psychological or sociological terms here, but the way i see it is people who often consider themselves as 'normal' and compare themselves to others, like to make assumptions as to what 'normal' actually means, they all make their own definitions of what's right in their worldview and what isn't. Whatever doesn't sit with them is often poorly understood and thus either frightens them or is somehow seen as something that is outside of their 'normality domain', something that is in conflict, threatening or otherwise somehow undermines their worldview, their definitions of right and wrong.

I suppose since Bronies appear different - and i mean the ones that actually leave an impression, people in pictures, various articles or stories posted online and what not - they immediately trigger many people off. These people have learned to take most bronies as a synonym for 'strange'.

I never got the reason why people say ponies are EVERYWHERE and that why they hate them. I've found plenty of things i dislike on youtube or other websites i'd browse if i saw a video or something i disliked i'd ignore it, if it popped up in my feed or recommendations i'd ignore it and it'd fade away and not bother me.

I see hardly any reason for hate unless you have someone shoving it down your throat at every turn in that case it's more logical to direct your distaste to the person shoving it in their face. If people bring up R34 something needs to tell them every single fandom has it. Doctor who, Sherlock, Mass effect, you think of it, it's been R34'd and R63'd NO exceptions, and if kids find that stuff the parents need to monitor their under aged kids online activities more google does it's best to keep that sort of content off of main pages, so it's difficult to find unless you specifically look for it.

I can see some reason for hate but not enough to justify the kill all bronies scum of the earth mentality, that most anti-bronies hate.
