Why parents don't like you watching mlp?

My brother is a brony so no comment.

My parents were a bit WTF at first but they respected my choice, then one day they read some parts of my fanfiction and it totally changed how they view MLP.

Now my parents watch it with me if they have time.

If I really have to find one reason for my parents to somehow not let me watch such an inspiring show, it would be from my mom, usually because that she wished that I spend more time studying for tests.

It depends on the parents really, some might like you watching it, some might not care and others might not like you watching it.

Mine have no idea I watch it and I think if they knew they wouldn't care much... however one of my brothers does know and he's cool with it.

I know what you mean I my best friend Kevin whenever he watches my little pony his father always tells him to turn it off I really don't agree with his father he should have the right to watch whatever he wants and his mother never stands up for him which I also don't agree with

But if a show is totally innocent and there's nothing wrong with the kid watching it, if it's not detrimental in any way at all to the kid, then that's bad parenting for the parent to not allow them to watch it, in my opinion. I think good parenting includes not suppressing a child's interests, so long as it's not an unhealthy interest. Also, once the kid's a teen, especially if they're in their late teens... a parent really has no business saying what shows they can watch, unless it's a really bad show, or porn or something, but in terms of a cartoon, a teen can make that decision themselves.

that picture yo have under you're post I love how Fluttershy's mane is flowing in the wind

is kevin ok

Yes I just hate the fact that Kevin's father always makes him turn it off whenever he sees Kevin watching My Little Pony which I think is completely unfair since he should have the right to watch whatever he wants he can only watch My Little Pony when his father is not home I don't think that's fair for Kevin

My parents don't care that I watch MLP but then I usually do so in my bedroom and they only come into my room whenever they need to talk to me so you could say that I do have it pretty good in that regard.

My parents are always saying things like 'can't you find something more mature to watch?' Or 'stop watching that babyish show' but that's just my dad, my mum doesn't really like me watching it, but she doesn't mind it. I keep on telling my parents that there are a lot of people out there that like it, and half the time I end up watching it in my room XD!

It's kind of new to me how many people's parents are against their kids (whatever their age) watching this. My parents just laughed and said, 'well, if you like it, why the hell not'. Not that they don't make fun of me for it occasionally (all in good fun, not actually being mean), but they never had any problems with it. Honestly, with a show this innocent, why should anyone have issues with it? Isn't the hot topic these days how shows and games are too violent? But MLP is somehow wrong as well, because...?

At first, my mom thought I was joking. When she found out I was serious, I told her more about the brony fandom, and texted her the link to whatisabrony.com. She’s perfectly ok with it. :)

I’ve never talked to my dad about it, though, but I’m sure he’ll comment on my pony merch at some point. :P
