I'm getting into Airbourne, I love AC/DC, KISS, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, I don't like a lot of today's hard rock and metal, but I think Airbourne is really good

Airbourne, AC/DC, and KISS are just normal Hard Rock, they aren't Metal. Not too sure about Guns 'n' Roses or Def Leppard, I haven't listened to much of them at all.

But anyways listening to Miss Machine again, god I love this album, it's easily my favorite TDEP album.

Buddy, none of those bands you mentioned are metal.

I've been diving Kvelertak lately, I really like this album. I'm gonna try to get their latest album soon. http://youtube.com/watch?v=pBgRDA6mKg0

Okay guys I have a serious question. How can I get my friend who only listens to classical music to give metal a chance? He for some reason has this stupid assumption that heavy metal is all just noise and screaming and he says it isn't music. It really pisses me off, and I tried to tell him he was being ignorant and that he didn't know anything about heavy metal, but he was just like "whatever." I would like to get him to be able to at least appreciate some heavy metal but I don't know how to do it or how I can show him that his assumptions about heavy metal are wrong. Help guyz :/

Let him listen to Black Metal

Symphonic Metal he might appreciate that stuff. I don't have any examples because I don't listen to any of that kind of stuff, though that's the best answer that I can give.

But I don't listen to any Symphonic Metal :/

Also, the only bands he even likes at all are The Strokes and Coldplay.

Should I try to show him another band that he may possibly like?...like maybe Dream Theater or something? He obviously doesn't like stuff that's too heavy.

Dream Theater are a possibility, you should also try to show him My Dying Bride, Kamelot, Katatonia, and some of Opeth's songs with less growling in them. Let him listen to Harvest, The Drapery Falls, and Porcelain Heart, those are three songs that I can name off of the top of my head.

Those bands are all ones that non-Metal fans enjoy.

Ohhh thaaaaaaaaaaaaats EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAZYYYYYYYYYY

The first metal album I listened to was a Gorgoroth album actually. LOL

I think Tool might also be a good option.

Well... if he were into grunge I'd recomend stuff like Acid Bath, Eyehategod, Melvins and Electric Wizard. Actually, Alice in Chains would be a great band to start off with.

Tool, I'm not too sure on, it's a maybe, though Lateralus was one of the first full Metal albums that I had gotten into, so I guess it's worth a shot.

A person who listens to classical music? Hell no, he'd probably not be a huge fan of Alice In Chains, not only that but they're closer to Grunge Rock then they are Metal.

Moog, come on now. Alice in Chains are totally metal, except for Jar of Flies. I got into metal with Alice in Chains.

Fuck, now I'm gonna listen to all of Facelift.

I showed someone who listens to indie and electronic stuff Aenima and they didn't like it, but you never know.

This band's pretty damn sweet. I def recommend a bump if you're into this kind of music.

Human Abstract. Most (if not all) of their musicians are classically trained and thus play a breed of metal largely comparable to something you'd see in classical music, except retrofitted for guitar, bass, drums, etc. I will admit, the growling will probably be a bit of a turn off, though.

Also if people like screamo here this is like the best screamo band ever:

Circle Takes the Squaaaaaare :D

Again, as I said before Alice In Chains are closer to Grunge Rock than they are Metal, I wouldn't recommend someone to Alice In Chains if they're trying to get into Metal due to that one fact.

Anyways I now remember why I said that Miss Machine was my favorite Dillinger Escape Plan album

Oh it's so good that I listened to this album again, god I love it to pieces.

NOT EVEN CLOSE

but they're still great :V

inb4 djenty

ya cunt

also, screamo is often mixed with stuff like powerviolence (hence terms like flowerviolence and shit), so I think it's ok to post some skramz here.

like when you first hear this, do you think "OH WOW THAT'S SOME GOOD SCREAMO"?

grunge is an aesthetic tho

Well screamo/ post-hardcore doesn't exactly belong on here because it's punk, but ehh it's good to go off topic every once in a while.

Oh yeah, that was a good album. Here's this.

Anyway, I just felt like mentioning Bo Summer since I haven't posted any Panzerchrist of Illdisposed in a while.

Hey what was that one screamo band you showed me a while back? I think they were called Orchid or something like that. I'm sorta in a punky mood right now, I'm listening to Double Nickels on the Dime right now.

Did someone mention Orchid? Chaos Is Me is one of my favorite albums so I'm just gonna post that one. Gotta love that awesome album.

Yeye that's the stuff

Pick up Chaos Is Me for a good introduction to their stuff.

Essential sad-guy core right here, highly recommended

As Moog said earlier, Symphonic is probably your best bet. I could take that one step further, seeing as how there's actually some Classical Metal Compilations out there. There's also a whole Neo-Classical genre out there as well.

Don't forget power metal, that shit's boring.

Spite Mode: Activated.

And now, because I'm about to head off to the gym, I present to you all the perfect level of '80s cheese to work out to:

...Alright, so it was released in the '90s, but it's still got '80s in it nonetheless.

Deafheaven's got some new stuff coming out on the 11th of this month, and I'm liking it so far.

Anyone who wants to check out the advance/preorders, have at it.

I listened to that, and I didn't like it, not changing my mind on Power Metal, and probably Dawn still hates Power Metal as well. I paused Miss Machine for this, I am disappoint.

Speaking of Miss Machine, I might as well leave one more track from that album

Why, sir, you misread me! My intent is not to change anypony's opinion about what is arguably one of the most lyrically intricate and creative genres metal has ever spawned. I simply want to annoy you fucking heathens (Dio smite you all) with it, hence "Spite Mode". Trol- to the -lol- to the double -lolol.

And just for that, I'ma post more of this shit, yo.

I think that goes to the saxophone-rap-deathcore-djenty-8-string juggernaut Ever Forthright.

Or any other modern prog group that pushes the envelope a little ;)

INB4 Djenty/Stryker with some black metal band that's better and more creative.
