Implying that you hadn't already heard of those bands? Who HASN'T nowadays?

The point is that those are the bands that turned me away from anything a core at the end and made me think they all suck. So yeah.

Boy are you ever fucking wrong. Wait... am I being trolled? If so, well played, you had me for a second there. The giveaway was calling me Deku again.

I finally listened to SYL's self-titled today. I don't like it as much as City or even HAARHT. The humor is gone, and that doesn't seem like what Strapping is to me. Well, this is pretty good.

BEST MESHUGGAH SONG, DEKU TREE.

Also, I really liked the self-titled album. Sure, there wasn't the humor on found on other albums, but it was really solid in terms of doing the patented "SYL In Your Face Guitar/Drum Attack".

Listen and learn, my friends, the sound of incredibly melodious metal.

To be honest, the self-titled is one of my more favourites, despite having a good three 'meh' tracks (Devour, Last Minute, Force Fed), but the tracks that are supposed to be heavy and powerful hit fucking hard (Dire Consequence, Relentless/Rape Song). My favourite is a tie between Relentless (the song that got me into SYL) and Bring On The Young (one of the most hard hitting songs in the SYL catalog).

Exactly. Hard hitting motherfucker that album is.

Also, why the hell is the metal thread buried and Djenty's avatar Bender?

Time for some Blind Guardian from Resulli.

I really don't listen to enough variety of music, I have a tendency to listen to what I know I like rather than explore. Then I miss out on great bands like BG and Iced Earth because of it.

I'm really digging these guys sound this morning.

The melody stays pretty rad throughout, even with the chugs. Unfortunate band name, however. Heh.

Epic awesome album is epically awesome, and this is a cool song off this awesome album. This band is so so good. The vocals are too damn good.

If you want my opinion, I think you should take a look at their album Ragnarok. Songs are a bit more longer and a tad bit more progressive, but the amount of epic in them is undeniable.

This is pretty fantastic. Also, different for me. How often is it that I post actual Death Metal?

I'm really loving the epic feel.

Edit: Also, Rose Funeral. Because fuck yeah.

My favorite Tyr song. Although Ragnarok is my favorite album from them, and Brother's Bane was one of their first songs that I really liked. I still like Dreams better.

Not many bands that employ neo-classical biz into their music have tickled my fancy, but here: have an exception! I wish more songs on this were like the title track, though...

Not sure if trolling or mistype.

On the alt-metal subject, much like Mudvayne or Slipknot, I think RATM's debut is their most effective release. The bass is great on this track specifically.

So I have been listening to a lot of satellite radio lately. Well I used to listen to sirius octane but I switched from dish to direct tv so I no longer have sirius, I have this weird offbrand called sonic tap. Anyway sonic tap instead of having octane, has this station called ink'd which plays hard rock and metal like octane does. They play a lot more metal on this station then they do rock and every so often they play this song.

I did not like it at first but it grew on me.

Hy guys, I'm back from my pilgrimage to my grandparent's house. I only had my Ipod and couldn't really look up any of your suggestions, but I did listen to alot of Killswitch Engage driving up there and back. I consider metalcore and nu-metal a sub-genre of metal, no matter what anyone else says.

SO TAKE IT, AND LOVE IT.
