My inner Scotsman has had me playing these guys for awhile now, despite them all being Argentinian haha. Vocalist sounds a lot like Dio IMO. Also bagpipes.

I must say I love the riff of this song... I mean I don't listen to a lot of black metal, but this is pretty awesome. Yeah I love this song.

@, What's your view on the direction Skyclad went with after Martin left the band?

To be honest, I don't know the difference. Don't know much Skyclad. I just knew they were a folk metal band.

Can't expect me to know everything metal related. That's why I love having the other regulars here, to fill in the gaps that I don't cover well. :D

Yeah I didn't even know about Skyclad until a few months ago. They're much softer now and have almost a pub/drinking song vibe on their material now.

Kalmah is one of the few black metal bands that I can really get into as well.

There are people who don't like this band, but I don't understand why.

They're a crazy fun band to see live. I've rarely heard a better party song, metal wise.

Although...

I know others here like Between The Buried and Me and they just released a new album. So here's the promo. From what I've heard of the album I prefer it to their last release.

YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW MY LOVE FOR THIS BAND.

Well, you might. Dunno. But I've been listening to them since before they were BTBAM.

Have some Prayer For Cleansing, the band prior to BTBAM.

They're also covering The Cranberries, so hey. Bonus.

Had my daily dose of (progressive) black metal today with Krallice's new LP, "Years Past Matter." Really good stuff. Behold... the Arctopus' Warr guitarist, Colin Marston, is a member of this group, so you know that they know their shit.

I'm starting to really like Sabaton... Actually their one of the few power-metal bands I enjoy listening to. Especially this song.

A lot of bands get labeled as djent on some music websites I use, and it doesn't hold true at all. Example: a band I brought up earlier, Behold... the Arctopus.

Prog does not equal djent.

Behold Behemoth. Possibly my favorite black metal band, hailing from the great land of Poland.

Fun fact, they were put on a list of bands that promote Satanism and murder, and were going to be banned from playing in Poland, though this was removed as a violation of freedom of speech.

CKY has to be one of my favorite metal bands, they have amazing riffs, but they keep it simple enough, that you can hear the notes.

I'm going to see Wintersun, Eluveitie, and Varg in concert in December. Should be a fun time, although I don't care much for Varg.

Some very under-the-radar stuff here. One of the less popular bands to grace the almighty Metal Blade label, but one of the best as well.

I am posting another crappy song I found... Or that I enjoyed, actually:

Well, I don't know most of the bands you're talking about, so I'll have to talk about Flyleaf.

The singer of the band has an excelent voice, and the videoclip of this song is kind of freaky..

And as I said before, I enjoyed it to the "max".

I'm not actually a real Metalhead, but I do enjoy a few death/dark/heavy songs like those two, so I thought I'd just bump in.

But again, I'm a complete n00b about it... Sorry :c

Same name, but the songs have nothing to do with each other...

A music with the same name can be very diferent, there are many ways to show the meaning of the word, I guess in this case, the so called "cyanide", the drug.

Mfft, METAL BLADE.

Best metal label is Sumerian. I mean, have you seen the bands on there? Almost all of them are top-tier metal for me. But there's also that stupid stuff like Asking Alexandria... http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

Sweet baby Jesus playing the fiddle. The Ocean Collective are an amazing group of musicians. Under-the-radar, and also very underrated. I posted one of my favorite songs in this thread way back when. I've spent many hours listening to both Heliocentric and Anthropocentric. Two awesome albums.

Here it is! :

Sooo much good music in this thread.

This is sort of more Symphonic Metal buuuuut...

Oh my gosh I'm obsessed with this song.

I listen to it on repeat when I'm writing for my book. It's so great, (at least in my opinion) because it tells a story of a war and battle between two people.

Still pretty obsessed with this band, myself. Melodic metalcore just refuses to die in my heart.

Listen closely to the effect during the chorus. I love the subtle chimes on the chord changes, gives it some atmospheric feel.
