First album was a Whitesnake album.

Whitesnake are also awesome.

 

 

Same here, except my first album was American Idiot by Green Day.

Green Day is somewhat awesome.

 

Now that it's been years since being introduced to SOAD, I find I prefer their first, self-titled album. Toxicity is still really damn good, though.

Also also, I need some thrash recommendations. The only thrash I have is a little each of Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, Dark Angel, Metal Church, and Blind Illusion. Out of these, Slayer is my favorite, specifically Reign in Blood, because I love how consistently fast and chaotic the sound is (the violent lyrics definitely help, too. Why is Necrophobic only 1:40 long? :().

 

So what is there that is at least similar, but if possible, even faster and more brutal?

 

(also, if this sentence wasn't here, this post would be 666 character long :D)

Green Day isn't one of my favorite bands, but that album has always been one of my favorite albums. 

 

Also also, I need some thrash recommendations.

^ I do love me some Veil of Maya.  [id] is a good album; I've played the shit out of Unbreakable (fav song on there).  The break down is pretty sick nasty.

I have searched high, and I have searched low.  But I have finally found Tunisian folk metal from Arabic northern Africa.  And holy crap, is it amazing:

 

I know that you've like just posted this, but I'm going to piggy back on what you've said here and agree.  They're kind of like an Arabian Symphony X.

Well, I haven't been on the internet in a whole, like, 24 hours man.

It's tough, to say the least.

 

Worth it though, 'cause my football team is going to the mother fucking state championship next week. For that, what I like to call "happy" metal. Or as everyone else would call it, power metal:

'Tis the season for some Trans-Siberian Orchestra. 

 

I actually saw them last year, and I had no idea what to expect, but they were pretty good. They're like a mix of progressive rock/metal, classical music, and Christmas music.

This song is so epic. It's relaxing. I love this type of metal (I think it's folk metal). It gives me goosebumps!! I hope I'm not the only one who likes this song.

I love Equilibrium, great folk metal band.  

 

Here's some Symphony X.  This album has some of my favorite riffs.  Especially this song.

That was my first Symphony X album, and it is indeed a great one (though I prefer Divine Wings of Tragedy). My favorite song from Paradise lost is Eve of Seduction. Dat intro.

Oh yay, an excuse to post The Odyssey (which is another of my favorite songs). Nice and long and epic and symphonic and has some great riffs that really get stuck in your head (in the good way):
