My friend got me Periphery II: This Time It's Personal, so I'm pretty psyched to play that sucker.

My friend (who only listens to classical music) said "Heavy metal is disgusting, it's just a bunch of screaming."

 

I thought that was really ignorant and it really pissed me off.

 

It's funny because a great deal of Metal pretty much Classical Music turned up to 11, and I'm not just talking about Symphonic and Neo-Classical Metal. :I

 

Since I have been given a break from my thespian duties, I raise a question. What do you do with stubborn fucks who just shut out all metal and refuse to accept it as what it really is; not a bunch of untalented motherfuckers mashing on instruments, but rather a very potent means of expression?

 

A friend of mine sent me the quote, "A rocker plays 5 chords in front of 800 people. A jazzman plays 50 chords in front of  8 people." He's only heard a little bit of Louis Armstrong (who isn't even a guitarist and plus it was probably "What a Wonderful World" anyway) and doesn't see the technical prowess of any bands I've shown him; he simply shuts me out and proceeds to try and fail at making note block songs in Minecraft.

 

Help me to get his head out of his ass and see the light.

 

 

Honestly, I doubt anything will change the minds of these people, but you can always try these I guess.

Onto the metal, here's a kickass song off of Periphery 2. It seems like they turned the djent down on this album, which makes me a little sad :(

That thinking can go away right now.  The nature of this thread is already technically outside the bounds of forum rules.  The mods trust us to not go overboard.  Thinking like that will fuck everything up for everyone.  So don't.

Just look at the things we say and post here.  That won't fly in any other thread and you know it.

 

Also, if someone really wanted to be a cock about it, I know that I personally have posted songs containing necrophilia, rape, murder, and various other things that would get someone banned if they were to post it in anything but a song.  It's because it's music that it's allowed to stay.  So I'd rather not fuck things up, ya know?

 

I'm not saying change the way we post.  I'm only saying don't get overconfident like "hurrrr we can post porn", even if you are joking.  A dead thread is nothing I want to fuck with.

So in my rock history class, the professor played a bit of the song "Hit the Lights" by Metallica, and the only people who had heard of the song were me and one other guy -__-  (and there are like 120 people in the class). But of course, when the teacher played "Enter Sandman" a whole bunch of people knew it. This is proof that Enter Sandman is overrated as heck.

I don't care if it was re-recorded, this is an amazing song.  That violin contrasts those guitars and vocals so wonderfully.  I kind of want to do some sort of dance while headbanging.

I love Electric Wizard, especially the Dopethrone album.
