First, here's the story of how I got here: I'm someone who should've joined here ages ago. I've wanted a good pony forum to post at since I first got into the show.. There was /co/ at first but I can only handle 4chan for bits at a time and by the time the pony discussion shifted to /mlp/ I just couldn't really take it anymore (no offense to anyone who uses that site, I have great friends who do, just not for me most the time). Then there was SomethingAwful which is similarly tough to deal with for me but had a GREAT pony community until it became a bannable offense.. then the ponygoons offshoot (which I believe is now bronies.net or something?) in which people just seemed too paranoid due to the fear of SA goons coming and criticizing them, I guess, so it became kinda uncomfortable to me. Theeeen ponychan which was incredibly great at first but kinda got... weird after a bit for me? I liked it a lot but more and more people very early on started trying too hard to shed that 'goody-good' image the site had, but I *liked* that element of it, so the insistence on shedding that kinda made it less appealing to me... and I prefer good old fashioned forums to imageboards anyway, so then I tried ponyville.net ... and whoops, even by the time I went there around the beginning of season 2, a huge chunk of the userbase and ALL but ONE of the mods/admins were already done with the show and just kept posting due to becoming attached to the community.. so it felt kinda odd to me, too. All of that happened by late 2011 and I pretty much gave up on finding a good pony forum to go to. I've really been craving it CONSTANTLY ever since then but I've never actually joined any; I've been too scared to in case they ended up being uncomfortable/a waste of time for me too, so it's like I was waiting for one to jump out and bite me and tell me "oh I'm a great pony forum, come post on me!" instead of actually trying it myself. So here I am, nearly 3 years later than I should have come here; I literally googled the term 'fim forums' and this was one of the first results. I click to find a fun, vibrant, very well-designed forum that seems to be brimming with happiness and activity and tons of people who still actually care about ponies so I think I might have finally found my haven. tl;dr I tried a bit of everything back in the early days, but never found my pony "home". I kinda gave up.. for a long time... though I stayed a huge fan of the show and everything.. but now I've decided to try again and I already *really* like the look of this place. Now, a bit about me... - I'm 27. Yeah, maybe a bit old compared to a lot of pony fans but honestly I was one of the youngest ones I found in the early days, lol. - I'm a huge fan of animation, good Western cartoons (i.e. ponies, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Bravest Warriors, and Steven Universe for some current favorites) especially - I'm also a fan of video games (like every geek ever) but especially retro ones (NES/SNES most of all!), retro-styled newer ones (like Cave Story, La-Mulana, Shovel Knight etc.), and JRPGs (a huge fan of most all of them but right now my biggest love is Xenoblade Chronicles). I have a deep affinity for Nintendo especially.. I tend to keep up with all its consoles and series more than just about anything else in gaming. Very hyped for Smash 4! - I've been a massive fan of ponies since january '11, and will be long after it's over, even if the show jumps the shark hardcore. Brony for life, if you will, though I'm not a huge fan of the term 'brony' I don't mind people calling me one since I definitely am one~ - I actually am a budding artist, I know I started a bit late but I've ALWAYS wanted to draw cartoons, just didn't have the confidence to even try until recently (mostly thanks to ponies and its wonderful community). I'm not great yet but I am working hard to improve and surely will even harder while around fellow fans like you guys. - If it's not EXTREMELY obvious by this point... I'm very verbose. Pinkie Pie is favourite pony? Good choice! I'm always up for her random deeds! Ponychan is a bit weird, but here is a vibrant and fun community, where everything is nicely moderated, so I'm sure you'll be a wonderful addition to it!! hip-indeed 304 July 19, 2014 Author Share July 19, 2014 Ahhh, actually having people who read all that was a nice surprise =w= I can't say I expected it, but if that kind of thing was okay, then I'll definitely be just fine here. And gosh, it's been so long since I've been to a good ol' forum where people have avatars and signatures and all that... It's just so nice! Thanks for that~ The only thing that's bothering me is those emoticons -- trapping the ponies in a little circle like that makes them look all... bald and weird! I'd rather have little emotes with their hair included like I've seen on other forums, but hey, this is already feeling superior to every other pony forum I've looked at in every way so I can deal if that's the worst of my problems, haha! I feel we've got a bit of a similarity, you and i, in the sense where i searched for a forum (and other bronies, to begin with!) to stay at. I'm absolutely sure you'll like it here - it's got a very active, very nice community that love MLP, video games, anime, everything. This is definitely a different atmosphere, but I hope you enjoy your time here. Hahaha! To me it's ironic to see someone say they're too 'young' to have used such a site... I mean, to be totally frank I'm pretty positive most its userbase is ~14-18... And I don't think I did any kind of.. contribution to the early fandom, except just being there and trying to spread love and joy and talking to as many people as I could >> I still haven't gotten good enough at art or anything to really contribute in a meaningful way but I'd like to!
