Is Rule 34 a Good Thing?

The only problem is that it's a tad difficult to pretend it doesn't exist when people keep bringing it up. The mere existence of this thread is evidence to that.

Then don't go into the thread, simple as that.

I believe that he meant that people should acknowledge rule 34 and ignore wherever it is brought up, unless I misread it, in which case I apologize.

As a side note: *sigh* god help me on this one: i clop! yes i clop! but hold you horses for a second, have i done something bad for you because i clop? Eh tell me, have i? No! I didn't do anything to you, why do some people hate clopers? (insert your answer here)

Or, hell, literally any thread you see that might be "icky."

It's not that hard. Sh*t, I'm doing that with the pro-feminism thread we speak.

And if any of you know me...I'm not exactly the "ain't got nothing nice to say, then don't say 'nuthin" type of dude.

If I can do it, anyone can.

But you chose to click on this thread.  Please understand that it isn't "pretending it doesn't exist" because that'd be pretty much impossible, but just not paying attention to it.

You ultimately chose to acknowledge it by coming to this thread, man. I don't like anime, and it's pretty popular on these forums, having numerous threads dedicated to it - what do I do? I ignore it. I don't go to the anime threads, I don't discuss it - I didn't bring it up for months until just now, actually, and that was to prove a point  :please:

Ultimately, it's clicking on these threads even though you don't like them that creates this problem for you. No one forced you to look at this thread, man - same with everyone who's against R34. It isn't being forced on you, so just relax.

No need to be ashamed, people who hate on us are idiotic.

I'm more worried about the 13-year-olds who don't know what Rule 34 is, and then click on threads like this in curiosity.

Over-sexualization? I'm genuinely wondering why you say that and what you mean by "how lightly people treat sex". And what's so bad about Rule 34? What has it done to you?

With over-sexualization, I mainly just mean how such a big deal is made of sex and how it's used, both subtly and blatantly, in everything from advertising to films and TV to artwork to even the way people dress sometimes. Perhaps "over-sexualization" wasn't the right term, but that's the kind of thing I'm talking about.

And how lightly people treat sex? It seems that the general consensus is that as long as it feels good and doesn't directly harm anyone else, it's perfectly fine. It's to the point where even limiting sexual encounters to serious dating relationships seems virtuous. It's like it's considered perfectly reasonable for people to act purely on blind impulse when it comes to sex, because sex is often treated as little more than a way to feel good. And that bothers me. To me, sex ought to be something genuinely special, something that's only done with one other person, something exclusive and deeply intimate. I know it's just my worldview and I don't mean to force it on anyone else, but it's still what I believe. And Rule 34 just straight up shits on that belief.

Also, let me know if any of that came off confusing or offensive in any way. I'm a bit distracted right now and so may not be expressing myself as efficiently as I ought to.

But porn has been around for...hmmm...sh*t, even during the Victorain time periods, where "classyness" was all the rage, and sexuality was sunned.

In fact, I remember reading somewhere that people would also make what amounts to r34 fanfic of Shakespeare and Charles Dickens stories back in the Elizabethan and Victorian eras. If those guys went untainted after all this time, I think we'll be alright.

Well, 13 year olds should know better (considering the fact that I am one), being a teenager and all.

R34 is comparatively light to a lot of the stuff you'll find on the internet, kid. If a child can't handle it, they really shouldn't be on the internet unsupervised. There's a LOT of stuff that's worse than R34 out there on the webz

Go to number 5.

I'll just give you a snippet:

"It's true that Victorians weren't exactly into halter tops and assless pants. In public, that is. In private, they made up for it by producing extraordinary amounts of porn. And not just any porn, but the type of porn that would make the most seasoned Internet deviant blush and cover their table legs. We're talking incest, rape, pedophilia, orgies, BDSM ... and that's the normal stuff."

Basically, friend...porn has been around for, like, for ever.

We don't need Carl's Jr ads telling us so.

I'm not saying that over-sexualization is a new thing. I know it's been around a long time. Doesn't make it alright.

Well, it is the internet. They were gonna find out what it is sooner or later. In fact, it's best they find out through these masses of text rather than experiencing it firsthand.

Hey now. If it's not doing any harm, there's no reason to force your morals onto others. You're free to have your own belief system, but if this is something that's going to bother you even though it causes no harm, it's really just your own problem of being intolerant of other people having different ways of life and ways of thinking than that of your own.

The thing is people who hate on cloppers are hypocrites because we as a brony community, get enough hate already. Know these fuckfaces are just going to hate on people in their own fandom? We get enough hate already..

I'm not "blaming porn" for anything. If I came off that way, then I misspoke and I apologize.

No, it's not porn's fault, it's the people's fault. Porn—like pretty much every tool mankind can use, both good and evil—has no power but what humanity gives it. I just think that porn is one tool that humanity ought not use.

Well as I said later in that post, I don't mean to force my beliefs on others. Even if I wanted to, it'd be impossible. That's not what I'm trying to do here. But the thread posed a question, and I was answering with my opinion.

So by your logic, were both just fools.

As a matter of fact, yes.  That's exactly what I meant.  We've been on this earth little over a decade, our minds aren't nearly done developing, we are prone to rebellious thought rather than rational thought, and most teenagers seem to let their hormones run them instead of their minds.
