[Warrior Dark Void 43]

Equestria is a land of peace and tranquility, but beyond the Barrier that the Princesses cast over the land, there is a Great War. A war between those soldiers who volunteered to keep their land safe, and the evil forces beyond. No one knows why we were placed into seige, yet the waves are relentless. Sometimes corrupted ponies attack, other times, foul beasts that appear like the demon spawn of the night. A force has been organized to fight this threat, but even so, many lives are lost. We turned to the Princesses for help, and they sent word that they are building a team. Nowthere is hope even for the warriors who are dying in the field, for the Elites have arrived. These Eites are Equestria's Blades. But even the best can only get so far. Will you join their quest to uncover the mysteries that plague us all? Or will you create your own team to fight these creatures? The enemies endless, it's a matter of time before they overrun the barricades we set up. So, let our blades shine bright in the light of our victories!

(Weapons: Bow and arrow, sword, whip. Pet: a trained, white, parasprite)

Raspberry Swirl -a bat pony- woke up in a hospital bed. Looking around- still very sleepy- seeing other ponies either asleep or talking to other patients or nurses. A nurse looked in my direction and came trotting over. "Raspberry, you awake finally!"

"Wha?" Raspberry said, very confused. "Where am I?"

"You don't remember what happened last week?"

"All I remember is fight some ponies  then everything going bl- Wheres Cherry?" She yelled out, just remembering Cherry her pet perasprite.

"Oh, that perasprite is fine. She is recovering in another area. But you honestly don't remember what happened?"

Raspberry shaked her head.

"Well all I heard was that when you were fighting someone hit you in the head. Putting you into a coma for around a week."

Well that explains my head ach! Raspberry Swirl thought to herself.

"Where are we anyway?" Raspberry asked, sitting up.

"We are inside the shield. At the hospital."

A look of surprise crawled onto Raspberry's face. "Where inside the shield! Really?"

The nurse nodded then trotted off to one of the other patients. 

I haven't been inside the shield since I was only a filly! Raspberry thought as she tried to stand up. She did however notice a large bandage on her left wing.

"Must be a injury i got." She whispered to herself as she slowly walked out of the tent.

To see in front of her a purple-ish shield protecting Equestria.
She wasn't lying!

Looking around, Raspberry saw another tent. With a sign saying:

Injured Animals

"That must be where they have the animals."

Before exiting the tent, Raspberry looked to her self to see a small closet. And one of the hangers had her tan vest. Putting it on, she then trotted out the door and over to the animals

Looking around she saw many different kinds of animals.

From falcons to monkeys. 

But only one cage had a white parasprite. 

"Cherry" Raspberry called as her pace quickened.

The parasprite looked at her. And started to spin in joy!

Letting Cherry out of the cage, she started to circle Raspberry.

She soon found a spot in her mane and landed.

Making a small nest, Cherry went to sleep.

Raspberry grinned as she walked out of the area and to the border. 

She couldn't see any ponies, only large explosions from magic blasting from unicorns horns,

and the small sparks of the swords,

and the crack of the whips.

"Not so fast soldier."

Raspberry turned to see Kernel Skyfighter, a unicorn stallion.

"Kernal" she said as she put her legs together and saluted. 

He just smiled and said: "At ease."

Raspberry relaxed.

"You aren't goin' goin out there!"

Skyfighter as he came and stood by Raspberry Swirl.

"Why not?"

"Because of your wing, its broken pretty badly. You might need to find relatives to say with for now."

Raspberry sighed. "So I won't be going back onto the battlefield for a while?"

He shook his head no.

"Can i stay here? You know I was an orphan when I joined."
He smiled, "I thought you would say that, so yes its ok you can stay here until you heal."

"Yes!" Raspberry said excitedly and jumping a little.

"But," Skyfighter started again.

"You must stay In camp until you heal is that clear?"

"Yes sir." 

He gave a me a ok-if-you-say-so look then walked away.

"You hear that Cherry." Raspberry started " I can heal my wing but also myself..."

She frowned at the last part remembering every awful thing that happened on that blood stained battle field.

[Warrior Dark Void 43]

I stand over the bodies of my comrades. This war was getting out of hand. There had to be some source that could be stopped! I grunt loudly as I stand, feeling a burning in my front left leg and horn. I limp slowly back to the Barrier, nodding my head at the guards as I pass. I had lost so many close ponies in today's main wave. I shut my eyes tight to block back some tears. How well can a leader lead if he isn't at his best? I feel a rush of energy as I pass the Barrier. At least i had some power inside these walls. I look at the war hospital, located right at the main wall and grunt as I turn towards it. There was time to be healed before the next wave, right? I reach the entrance and collapse. The tent flaps open with a 'puff' and I get a rush of cool air. Something wasn't right with my leg, I look down at it and groan. It was turning to a gray-ish shade of black. One of the nurses notices the opened door and rushes to pick me up.

"Another infection. Don't worry, you'll be fixed up quick." I nod slowly as I struggle to stand. I work my way to my hoofs and lean on the nurse as she leads me to a bed. I lie on the bed and roll over to see a white and red bat pony conversing with another nurse before rushing out the door. I sigh.

"Oh that pony." A voice from behind me says. I roll over to face a war-torn earth pony. "Yeah, I was told she was rescued from the battlefield. She had some pet that she was going to see." I grunt at this.

"Good for her, I'm glad she has someone close to her like that."

"I'm Ground Split." I look at the pony, confused. "It's my name." He chuckles

"Oh, sorry. I'm Warrior Void."

"Part of your name is Warrior?"

"Part of your name is Ground?"

"Fair enough." He sighs. I struggle to look out the window. After several attempts, I manage to prop myself up and look at the small battles being fought outside the Barrier.

'I really need to get out there.' I think. As if to confirm my thought, a loud drumming fills the room, shaking glass vases and other things around the room.

"What is that?!" Ground Split asks. The color drains from my face as I watch the flood of beasts pour over the horizon.

[Dakcka 182]

(Mind levitating, a rusty dagger, 12 shrinking potions, and a dragon-taming whip)

(She has a pet dragon-pony hybrid, which is a stallion who can change between dragon and pony)

 

 

 

Flare felt herself being lifted off the ground, large pain getting sent through her body. She couldn't move her hoof, she couldn't move at all. "Get up, get up Flare please!" Flare heard Menace's voice echoing through her brain. Menace was Flare's battle partner, he could turn into a dragon. The last thing Flare saw before she blacked out, was Menace looking down at her with a tear in his eye.

 

She woke up in a hospital, she darted her head left and right and tried to get up. She was being held down by a brace, she saw a nurse looking at her. Flare stared the nurse down, but only got in response. "Don't worry honey, we're taking out a battle injury of yours" The nurse said, pointing at her stomach. She had a large greatsword impaled in her stomach, the sight of the blood made her sick. She felt numb but then felt extreme pain in her torso. She fell back unconscious with the nurse bearing down on her, tending to her now even larger wound. Menace just sat on a chair, at the entrance of the room, watching her hoping she'd wake up.

Raspberry Swirl stared at the coming wave of ponies from outside the barrier.

She started to pace back and forth thinking what she could do to get back into the fight.

I could just take off my cast and tell the guard to let me in....

Or I could just ram into it and risk injuring my wing more...

"Hey you there!" 

Raspberry turned her head to see one of the soldiers walk over to me.

He was a gray and brown unicorn, wearing a vest similar to hers and using his magic to carry a sword.

"Its starting to get dangers, even if you are inside the barrier you may still get hurt."

"How?" Raspberry asked in really-how-would-that-happen tone.

"Some unicorns try to attack the barrier to break it down. There has been reports of some magic getting through the barrier. So now you have to stay indoors until the wave ends."

She just groaned as she headed back to the hospital tent.

Taking a seat on her bed, she looked to her left to see a brown unicorn with artificial wings, well, thats what she guessed.

"Hi." She said as the stallion slowly looked her way.

"Oh hi." he kind of groaned.

"I'm Raspberry Swirl and you."

"I'm Warrior Void."

"Wait you have Warrior in your name?"

"WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP SAYING THAT!!!"

"I will take that as a yes, so why did you get sent inside the barrier?"

"Oh my leg." he said as he pointed to his leg. It was pretty swollen and gray. 

"So you have an infection huh?" Raspberry asked, a small look of shock creeped upon his face.

"How did you know that?"

"Oh when i first signed up for the army I was going to be a nurse."

"Then why aren't you?"

"Because-" she stopped, memories filled her head about that day. Both good and bad. 

But to her misfortune it was mostly horrible.

"I don't want to talk about it." She said at last.

"I understand, things that happen outside the battlefield must stay there."

Raspberry just slowly nodded her head and she closes her eyes to stop her from crying.

But still, a tear rolled down her cheek.

She quickly wiped it away, and Warrior probably got the impression that he should change the subject. 

"So you're a bat pony." He tried to sound cheerful but sounded a little more serious than he wanted.

"Oh ya, my brother- Dawn Furry-  and I were orphans when we were fillies. Then one of the soldiers came by looking for possible recruits. He picked me and my brother and sent us to many different trying camps. But still on our first war-"

Raspberry just stopped and started to cry.

Warrior sat up and put his hoof my shoulder.

"Its ok, that was the past. We still have time to avenge your brother."

She nodded and started to wipe the tears off her face.

"I need to go do something." Raspberry said as she got up and slowly walked toward the exit.

"Hey Raspberry." Warrior called after her.

She turned around, already at the exit.

"Yes?"

"We're not allowed to leave the tents until the wave is over."

He gave a small chuckle and Raspberry stormed back to her bed and lied down.

"Then I am taking a nap!"

A white parasprite flew out of  her mane, almost scaring Warrior to death.

"Ummm, Raspberry you know you have a-"

"Thats Cherry, my pet." She interrupted as Cherry found a new space in her mane and fell asleep.

"Good night." She said as she closed her eyes.

"Its not ni-"

"YOU GET WHAT I MEAN!!!!!"

I look down at the bat pony. It was nice to meet new people, but... I look down at my hoofs. I just hoped that she wouldn't leave like the rest of them. I hear gasping from outside and a rustle of hoofs. I frown and limp my way to the door of the tent, peeking out. "P-princess?" I look in awe at Luna, who was walking with her head high towards the tent I was in. I work my way out of the tent door and now to her, a flood of painful memories coming back. "Rise Prince, we are equals."

"You know that title means nothing out here. I don't wish to be treated any different than any other soldier."

"Very well. I will refer to you as Void then." She looks at me. "But I need you on the feild." She points her horn at me and all the pain from my leg dissipates.

"Thank you your majesty. But I think my friend I n there may need it more than I."

"Of course. Now go! You must hurry, the wave is getting closer!"

"I'm not sure their about to let anypony else out though."

"They will if you tell them you are princess Luna's warrior." I nod and race off. I tell the guards and gallop through the barrier. I find my broadswords stuck deep into the ground where I was found. No one had moved them. I tear them out of the ground with my magic and charge. I had nothing to lose this time! (I will be gone today, so I will only be able to make more posts late in the evening, about 7 hours from this post.)

Raspberry Swirl wakes up when she felt herself being pushed awake. 

She looks up to see Princess Luna standing over her.

"Your majesty!" Raspberry sits up and bows her head.

"Rise! I have been sent by Warrior Void. He has been healed and out on the battlefield. He said you needed healing as well."

"Yes, thank you!"

Raspberry lifts her head and Cherry comes flying out of her mane.

Luna doesn't react, only stares at the creature.

"What is this?" She asks, looking it over closely.

"Oh that it my pet parasprite, Cherry. She is harmless."

The princess only gave a quick "hmph" before eliminating her horn a navy blue.

The magic removes the bandage and heals the wound quickly.

Raspberry starts to flaps her wing a little, to make sure it was fully healed.

"There." Princess Luna whispered as she stood aside her Raspberry to walk past.

"One last thing." The Princess called after her.

Raspberry turned her head and looked at Luna.

"When you are done with this wave, I have news from someone you might want to hear. But you must earn your right to this.."delicate" information."

She nodded her head and galloped quickly towards the exit of the barrier.

The guards looked her over then opened a small exit outside. 

Once outside of the barrier, she rapidly put on a set of silver amour.

And grabbed a bow and arrows.

Taking to the sky, Raspberry started to fire arrows.

Being cautious not to hit anyone on Equestria's side, she found Warrior Void fighting a light blue earth pony.

Taking aim, Raspberry shot the Earth pony.

Warrior Void looked up, starring straight at her. 

She gave a quick dip of her head and continued.

Looking at Cherry who was flying at her side, she whistled.

Cherry darted down and started to spray a dark green mist from her mouth.

Even ever the mist touched the coat of a pony, they would fall.

Raspberry knew they her parasprite had a uncommon trait...

Being able to breath poison! 

After only a span of five minutes, around 38 ponies fell.

Although Cherry was a little slow, it did number up after a while.

Raspberry continued shooting down earth, unicorns, and pegisi a like. 

Still she knew she had to do a lot more before the war ended.

She switched out her bow and arrow for a sword found in her sheath around her waist.

Flying down and landing a few feet away from Warrior Void, she help  another soldier against three pegisi before making her way over to him.

"So how are you doing?" she said in a  fake nothing-is-happening-right-now voice.

"Oh you know, fight off a few ponies for our kingdoms protection. The everyday stuff." he said in the same tone.

They both gave a quick laugh before slaughtering a group of three unicorns and a earth pony. 

"So how do you know the Princess?" Raspberry asked while fight against a fellow bat pony.

"Oh i'm actually a prince."

"So thats what you are! I thought your wings were artificial!"

"Nope." He said as he started to fight with a pegisi mare.

"Ok, by the way Luna said she has news for me once we are done with this wave."

"Cool, do you know what about?"

"No, but she used the word delicate so it must be important."

He nodded as Raspberry whistle again and Cherry came back to her side in little under 40 seconds.

"How does that little thing help you on the battlefield?" Warrior asked as he finally killed the mare.

"Cherry was born differently, so she is able to breath a poisonous gas, watch."

Raspberry whistled once more and jumped back.

The parasprite charged after the enemy bat pony and the same dark green gas came from its mouth.

The enemy soldier fell.

"Wow! Remind me to never get on  Cherry's bad side."

A horn sounded from the far side of the battlefield.

All the enemy soldiers starts to retreat.

Everyone cheered! 

"That round as way to easy!" Raspberry Swirl mocked as she made her way towards the barrier.

Warrior rolled his eyes a little and followed closely behind her.

Squeezing her way through the barrier, she headed first thing to Princess Luna.

"So princess, what is the news?" Raspberry asked once she had made it all the way to her.

"A letter came for you, and because the letters can't come to the barrier. The pony sent it to me. So i decided to take it to you. It would give me a chance to see Pri- i mean Void."

Princess Luna handed Raspberry the letter.

"I must be off, I do have things to do during the day." Luna got into her carriage and the bat ponies flew off towards the castle.

Reading the front of the envelope it read the name:

Crimson Dualwing

Opening up the piece of paper, Raspberry started to read:

Dear Raspberry Swirl,

You might not recognize my name now that you are older. But I am your mother. I am sorry for leaving you all those years ago, and I wish to apologize in person. So if you can, try to meet me in Ponyville, in front of the Grand Oak Library next week some time between 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. I am very excited to meet you and see how much you grew. Again I am sorry, and I know even I put 'I am sorry' a thousand times on this piece of paper it will change nothing. So please try to get away from the war to see me. I will wait every day for you.

 

Your mother,

Crimson Dualwing.

 

Rage started to boil inside Raspberry. 

She never once thought of her mother, dreamed of her, or forgave her what she did.

And now she is showing up out of no where to see her!

"Raspberry you ok?"

She looked to her left to see Warrior starring at her. 

Looking very concerned. 

"Yes I am fine."

"What was the letter about?"

She handed him the letter, he read it and then he started to understand.

"I need to talk to Kernel Skyfighter, see if I can go see...'her' and set her straight."

"But Raspberry you know the enemy could strike at any moment-"

Raspberry started to block out his nagging and head straight towards Skyfighter's tent.

"Sir may I come in?" Raspberry called through the tent's fabric door.

"Come in Soldier."

Grabbing the letter that Warrior was still holding she entered the tent.

"What do you want?" Skyfighter asked, he was sitting in a chair looking over a few documents.

"Something came up...family problems. And i am asking you if I could go check it out."

Placing the letter on his desk, he too read it over.

Once done he looked back at the bat pony mare, he was still thinking it over.

"You have been working hard, you do deserve a break. Sure you can go. But, bring that Warrior Void alicorn. Just incase it is a trick."

"Yes sir."

Raspberry grabbed the letter and trotted out of the tent.

"Warrior, pack your bags. Were going Ponyville."

[Warrior Dark Void 43]

I smile, it would be nice to return to Ponyville, Maybe I could go see the house I was raised in. I look over at raspberry and watch her try to control what seemed like a mix of emotions.

"Don't worry," I say, resting a hoof on her shoulder. "I know what it's like to go through parent problems. I had... Let's say a very difficult dealing with my mother. I was forced to leave her. It was to protect her, but even still, I feel like I did more damage to her than I prevented."

Raspberry relaxed just a little. "Now, as for getting to Ponyville, I know a way to get there in seconds, when you're ready, just come get me." I walk back to Barrier and watch a few straggler creatures stumble over the horizon. I test my wings. Sure they're real, but... Forged wings only work so well. I flap downward and push myself into the air. I spread my wings wide, feeling the wind pass through the metal plates. No matter how much I was used to it, the feeling of being in the air was amazing. I glide around until my wings begin to ache. Raspberry was watching me as I landed.

"Are you ready?" I ask her. She nods in response. "Ok, stay close and don't stray." I focus hard, my horn beginning to glow. I push my horn up, then down, creating a purple streak that remained floating even after I pulled back. I stab into it with my horn and push left, widening the strange portal.

"Let's go!" I leap through, laughing at the dumbstruck face of Raspberry. "It's safe, I've done this plenty of times." She nods hesitantly and steps in. I'm about to close the rift when a voice calls

"WAIT!" I look through the rift at an orange pony racing quickly at us. "Luna just healed me and told me that I was to follow you."

"Of course, there's room for another. What is your name?"

"My name is Flare!"

"I'm Warrior Void, and before you ask, yes Warrior is a part of my name."

"One sec, my friend is coming." She turns and beckons to another pony. "This is my friend, Menace."

"Ok, we do need to go." They both jump through the rift and I close it. I look around the black abyss and turn to everyone.

"This is the Void! Yes, I was named after it. I have a special mastery of magic and I can jump through here. Although it doesn't work past the Barrier." I slash with my horn and we all jump through another rift. I look up at the Ponyville entrance.

"Ta daaa" I chuckle looking at the confused ponies. Flare opened her mouth, about to speak but I raised a hoof and stopped her.

"Don't question it." I laugh and start towards the bustling town.

Raspberry Swirl, Flare and Menace walked through the rift as Warrior was closing it.

"Wow this place had changed since I was here last." Raspberry grunted, still trying to get over the anger part of her emotions.

"That is true. I forgot you couldn't see the barrier from here either." Warrior said once he had closed the portal, staring at the sky.

"So where did this mare want to meet you?" Flare asked as she trotted in front of them.

"My moth- Crimson Dualwing said to meet her at the Grand Oak Library." Raspberry said, pointing to the giant tree.

"Then lets go, it should be around 6 now." Warrior took the lead as he led the small group towards the Library.

Approaching the library, a gray and crimson bat pony came into view.

 

"That must be her." Flare said.

Raspberry took a deep breath.

"Three stay here," Raspberry ordered, "I need to speak to my 'mother' alone."

The tree took a seat on the ground, knowing this would take a while.

Raspberry trotted up to her mother, her face full of anger.

The bat pony saw Raspberry coming, and a smile grew upon her face.

Crimson Dualwing did not move. 

Only stared at Raspberry Swirl with a joyful expression. 

Raspberry made her face show no emotion, only showing her 'mother' the letter.

"Is this you?" Raspberry asked as the mare looked over the letter.

"Yes it is." She answered, without even needing to look at the letter.

"Now what did you need."

"Why would I need something to see my own daughter."

"Well heres a thought, you didn't need to take me and Dawn to the orphanage. Why did you do that anyway. Didn't we mean anything to you!"

"Yes you di-"

"Oh i'm sorry we "did" mean something to you"! Raspberry interrupted. Finishing her sentence.

Rage flared inside of her, almost making her explode into ashes.

?"I wasn't going to say did!" Crimson argued back.

"Then why were you going to say it? I came all this way from the barrier, abandoning my duties as a solders to see you. What if when I get back we have lost? And we would have lost because of your letter, do you even know how angry I am?

Her mother just nodded.

?"Where's your brother." she asked in a slow, sad voice.

"Hes dead, not like you would have known."

A expression of pure sorrow appeared on her face as she started to cry.

"Now if you excuse me," Raspberry started, turning away from her mother,

"I have a war to fight."

I watch Raspberry trot away from her crying mother.

"I'm not about to question your reasons, but don't you think you could have approached that differently?" Without waiting for a response, I open a path back to the war camp through the void.

"Go on through, I have a place I want to visit first." I watch them trot through before closing the rift. I sign and turn to look back at the mother, to see if her response had changed at all. Yet, she wasn't there. It was entirely possible she had walked away, but... Nevermind. I shouldn't get into other people's family business. I turn to the ever free forest and start to walk. After a few twists and turns, I end up looking over a small clearing. He only thing standing being a stone marker. I trot slowly to it and read the inscription: "The end of one path to save the journey." I sit down, staring at the marker. I feel tears rush forward and I don't stop them. I lie down by the marker, letting my memories flood over my war-hardened mind. I look at the symbol engraved at the very bottom, Then I look up into the evening's sky and watch the symbol rise slowly to take its place.

 

I step through the rift and into the solid ground of the war camp. I'm approached by princess Luna with raspberry and Flare in tow.

"Come. I wish to speak to you all in private." I look at raspberry who shrugs playfully, seemingly recovered from her confrontation with her mother. I try to return a smile, but a certain presence held me back. Instead I nod, turning to follow Luna. She leads us through the camp to a solid building. We walk inside, it seemed to be a simple room, no furniture aside from some simple lighting.

"You have shown expertise in the past Void, you will be a strong addition to the team." The word team dropped me into confusion. "Raspberry, being able to survive in threat zone for as long as you did, will also be an excellent addition. Flare, living through that wound, you will be a resilient force as well." She pauses for a second to look at us. "I am placing you into our elite group, Equestria's blades. You may refuse or leave the group later if you wish, but realize that joining the best means you will be expected to fight harder. You have shown you are capable, and I have no doubt in any of you. The group is scattered the ought the Barrier, protecting their own areas. You will be charged with guarding this section of the Barrier. All the normal forces will still help uou, but you will be doing special missions for me as well." She stops again, surveying our expressions.

"I will give you two days to think. But after the time is up, I expect a response." I nod and stand, a myriad of thoughts jumping around in my head. I work my way back outside and look up at the night sky.

 

I found myself atop a calm hill. The wind rustling softly by, the moon shining full above me. I sigh and close my eyes. Why couldn't it always be like this? Just a peaceful evening spent admiring the stars.

Raspberry Swirl walked slowly to the  barrier, and taking a seat against the shield.

She started to think about her day;

That conversation with my mother could have gone better, but I had every right to be mad at her.

I still thought I could have at least let my anger be a little more secret.

Pushing her thoughts to the back of her head.

Raspberry started then to think about the offer from Princess Luna.

The pro is I get away from this place,

but the con is I could be putting my life at higher risk.

"Hey Raspberry."

Raspberry turned around to see Flare walking towards her.

"Oh hey, what do you need?"

"I was just seeing how your doing."

"I'm fine. Just thinking about stuff."

"Ok... ok." Flare walked off towards the barracks, Raspberry just stared through the purple barrier.

A shadow ran across the battlefield.

Raspberry stood up, watching the figure run across the blood-stained sand.

She ran to the towards the opening in the barrier.

The guards let Raspberry through.

She grabbed her bow and arrows, and her sword and charged after the pony.

Cherry flew out of her mane and after the shadow.

Taking to the sky, Raspberry shoot a arrow at the target.

Hitting on the ponies hoof.

Landing right in front of the...bat pony?

The shadow pony was actually a dark yellow and bright orange bat pony.

"Please don't hurt me!" He stumbled, pulling out the arrow from his hoof.

Raspberry just stared.

He looked up at her, starring as well.

They both knew each other.

"Raspberry?"

"D-dawn Furry?"

Dawn started to smile, while Raspberry's expression stayed like stone.

Raspberry helped her brother up and over to the barrier.

The soldiers opened up the small door, eyeing Dawn closely.

Walking him over to the hospital and placing him onto one of beds. 

"Rest Dawn, I need to talk to Skyfighter about your sudden appearance."

One of the nurses walked towards him as Raspberry trotted out.

Finally arriving at the Kernel's tent, "Can I come in?"

Sounds of falling books and scrolls filled the room.

"Sure come in."

Entering the tent, to see Kernel Skyfighter sitting at his desk.

"Sorry for bothering you at such a late hour. But it is very important."

"Let me guess, another letter from your mother."

"No, its about Dawn Furry."

His seemed to just become interested at the name Dawn Furry, well he was one of his best.

"Don't kid around with his name." He said very sternly, standing.

"Why would I?"

"Where is he?"

Raspberry took a deep breath. "Follow me."

The two trotted fairly quickly towards the hospital tent.

Taking a few steps inside, Raspberry pointed towards a bat pony stallion who was sleeping.

And his hoof bandaged.

I find myself out in the war zone. Trailing my two blades on the reddened dirt, eyeing a few creatures that were crawling over the horizon. Hoisting my blades up, I rush forward. They snarl and leap too, but with a swipe, they fall motionless. I trot around eliminating lone enemies and small groups before a whoosh of air and a metallic clunk freeze me in my tracks. I whip around to face the sound, bringing a blade up to the throat of whatever it was. The pony looking back at me rolls it's eyes and emits a grunting sound. I laugh and stab the blade backwards through a unicorn attempting to sneak up on me.

"Highlander, long time no see buddy! What brings you out here?" I take a step back and look at the robot Pegasus. The creator had done a good job, covering a mess of gears and wires with realistic fur, all except for the left legs and half of the face. He folds his wings and motions back to the Barrier. I nod and we trot back, silent.

 

The robotic pony stands in front of me, communicating through grunts and whirs, a sort of form of morse code. I nod slowly, translating in my mind as he continues.

"I'm surprised you managed to find me after all this time, do you know anything about where these things are coming from?" The Pegasus thinks for a second before shaking its head. I sigh and continue "anyways, where do you plan to go next?" It stomps the ground. "You're going to stay? Do you wish to help us fight then?" It nods. "I must tell princess Luna then when she returns."

"Tell me what?" The Night princess asks as she enters the small tent. She spots the robotic Pegasus and smiles. "Oh so you've found your friend?" I nod.

"Yes, he wishes to help in this fight, an i was going to seek your permission."

"Of course he may join, any help is welcomed. Anyways, I came to warn you. It has come to my attention through reports that a large group of enemy ponies has been spotted in the distance, headed for this area. I have summoned what help I can for this, but you must be prepared. This may well be the ending battle for this side. I cannot spare any troops past what I am giving you because lesser onslaughts still plague the other fields. I am counting on you to protect this land to the best of your ability. I need to assist Celestia in maintaining the field during the battles, so you and your friend will become the leaders during this." I take a second to register all that was said.

"But, what about the generals, aren't they more prepared for this?" I ask her.

"They are aware of my decision and agree that you an Raspberry can handle this."

"But, we have so little experience, Raspberry was only recently recruited and I am still..." I pause, memories bringing twitches of pain "...recovering..."

"We all believe in your abilities, do not let us down." And with that, she left the room. I watch the tent's entrance, half expecting Luna to come back in laughing, saying it was a prank, but I knew that this was too serious a time for that. I turn to Highlander and he looks at me.

"Well then buddy. I guess we go break the news to Raspberry and Flare then."

Watching Skyfighter having a conversation with Dawn Furry.

Raspberry Swirl walked towards the barrier, but being stopped by Warrior.

"Oh hey...what's up?" She asked, looking down at the ground.

"Luna is sending us on a mission. Apparently an enemy group is coming closer to the barri- you ok?" 

"Um yes I am fine. So we are going on our first mission?"

"Apparently."

Raspberry gave a small sigh.

"When do we leave?"

Warrior looked at the night sky, the moon just setting.

"Daw-"

"DON'T SAY HIS NAME!"

He looked very confused, "What's wrong with the word dawn?"
Raspberry gave another sigh, "Nothing. Its just that..."

"Its just what?"

"My brother...that's what's wrong..."
Warrior still looked confused.

Shaking his head, he seemed to push the thought to the back of his mind.

"Just be ready to go in around 30 minutes or so, ok?"

Raspberry nodded as she headed  towards the exit while Warrior trotted off in the opposite direction.

 

 

Around 30 minutes later, Warrior and Flare walked towards Raspberry.

Who was pacing back and forth.

"Finally!" Raspberry shouted.

"Yeah, yeah be quiet." Flare responded.

Warrior rolled his eyes as the three ponies walked through the barrier.

I shudder as I pass through the Barrier. Looking at my friends, I begin to think how to handle this situation.

"Alright." I say out loud, causing then to turn to me. "Remember that we arent alone on this, there are still a few soldiers back here near the barrier to finish our work if we can't. But, I was thinking if we eliminate as many as possible as we can before we tire, then we can fall back while some of the other soldiers advance. While they are fighting, we recover, and when they tire, we attack. So on and so on until the battle is won. But we will need to do this further away from the barrier. That way, if we fail, the remaining forces positioned inside the Barrier have time to prepare." They nod in response. "Alright, let's go scout out the horde, try to do as little flying and magic as you can, or they might see us." They nod again and I start into a gallop. I hear the thumps of hooves on dirt behind me as we race off towards the horde.

 

I try to breath quietly, my breaths coming quick and shallow. I look back at everyone, they're crouched behind me, peering over the small hill we stand behind. I swallow and raise my head to look as well. Every last drop of hope drains from me as I see the mass of hooves, claws and horns racing towards the Barrier.

"How are we supposed to fight that?!" Flare whispers harshly.

"We find the weaknesses." Raspberry says, eyes glued to the large group.

"Like what? No matter what we do, they'll overwhelm us with sheer numbers!" Flare turns to me. "What do you think?"

"They're marching to closely together." I say absentmindedly

"What?"

"We can exploit that with some form of explosives. They're so densely packed that if one notices it, that one won't be able to move quick enough to dodge it. They essentially created a wall of meat that can attack from the front. If we can make sure they don't spread out when we fight them, I could create explosives using my magic and throw those in at the center."

"Seems like a plan to me..." Raspberry says quietly. I nod and trot back down the hill.

"We better get back to camp and share the plan..."

Raspberry Swirl was still staring at the horde of oncoming enemies.

"Raspberry, we have to go." Warrior said as he tried to pull her away from the mound of dirt.

"I-I recognize the leader of the group."

Warrior looked back to the horde to see a large dragon at the lead.

"How do you know him?" Flare asked, who  was listening on the conversation.

"He was the one that tried to take my brother from me."

Warrior and Flared just starred at Raspberry for a second.

Trying to figure out what was off about that sentence.

"Wait," Warrior finally said, "you said that your brother was dead. How could he have tied to kill Dawn?"

Raspberry gave a long sigh, "Just go to the hospital tent and look for a bat pony."

They still looked confused.

Raspberry gave a little whistle and Cherry flew out of her mane.

"Raspberry don't." Warrior  tried to pull her away but she had spread her bat wings.

"I need to kill him here and no-"

"Can at least tell us this dragons name! Maybe then we can try to find a book about him or something."

"His name is... Rthyin."

They both went pale, recognizing the name.

"Your kidding me right?" Flare asked.

"Nope, that is Rthyin the scaled bird. And fierce as Terik himself."

"Raspberry... There will be a better time for this." I start, hoping to convince her.

"No! I must end him now!"

"Raspberry, don't force me into taking you away, i'd much rather you just follow me."

"Oh yeah, what'll you do?" Raspberry is beginning to seem very on-edge. I look at her with a flat stare.

"You don't think I know plenty of ways to knock a pony unconscious?"

"You wouldn't hurt me!" She says, about to race off towards the dragon.

"Who said I needed to?" I say as I use magic to gently tap a part of her brain. She instantly falls to the ground, out cold. Her parasprite zips out of her mane, squeaking furiously. "Don't worry Cherry, she's just asleep." This doesn't seem to calm the sprite much, because she then zips over to me and attempts to pull my mane. I sigh, and heave Raspberry up onto my back as I carry her to the camp.

 

As we get back to the camp, I rest Raspberry on the ground, as she starts to stir.

"Men!" I yell, gathering the attention of all the warriors. "We have seen the enemy! They are numerous, and are leaded by rthyin the scaled!" This Drew several gasps and faces of despair from the crowd. "Do not fret, for we have a plan..."

 

A few minutes later

 

The crowd cheers once loudly and stomps the ground.

"Now, to your stations! Unicorns, follow me! Pegasi, follow Raspberry! Earth ponies, Flare. Now go!" The group of soldiers split into three and followed who they were assigned. Raspberry grudgingly lead them, but she lead them. She wasn't exactly happy for what I had done, but I wanted her alive, not spread across the talons and teeth of some god-like dragon. The pegasi had worked their way into position, and the earth ponies were quickly following. I waves my hoof once through the air, signaling. In response, several dozen flares shot up into the air simultaneously. The enemy now knew where we were. The battle had begun...
