Yes, as we are the centerpiece of milestones. We are monumental, we are the new target for hatred, intolerance, and betrayel...WE ARE /MLP/..

Oh, wait..wrong website..

Is this fanbase a good one to research about other fanbases?

I'm not following you. Are you saying that you want to research other fandoms through Bronies? Such as talk to bronies about their other fan interests (Whoovians, Potterheads, etc)?

Possibly so, dear sir. Their methods and behavior can be a good example for other fandoms. Right?

No, both the origins of this fandom and the public perception of it help to make it fairly unique as a intellectual property based fandom.

Research has been done and is being done on Bronies and our love for the show so it does merit a look from professionals (at least in their minds)

You can look at our fandom as one that is extremely active, creative, and independent. You can look at how we do music, pmv's, fimfiction, conventions, copsplay, plushies, clop, and art in mass volumes and pretty skillfully. You can show how EQD is a huge part of uniting and funneling in all this content. But I don't think you can look at what makes US tick and see anywhere near the same output and structure as OTHER fandoms. Clearly Star Wars, Star Trek, and Harry Potter are bigger and older but aren't quite as current and thriving in the internet age. Comparing us to newer cartoons (Gravity Falls for example or Adventure Time) you won't see a slightly similar fanbase size or output at all.

I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it..

Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM.

Check out the 20+ Musician project Maressey which I am running.

You can research the rest of the Bronies, but I ain't gonna be a lab rat.

Since the Brony fandom is relatively new and open to questions most of the time, I think you could do research on Bronies to figure out how fanbases work. I do think each fanbase has their own unique quirks, but I think that they do share a lot of common themes among them.

Idk if the bronies would be described as a typical fanbase to research, but then again, I don't know many fandoms could fit into a category of "normal fandom." I say go for it. It is a very active fanbase so you'd be able to find a plethera of things and people to do research on.

Agreed. I see a lot of article, blogs, and posts that try and find one common thread or trait of the fan base, and truth be told there really isn't one. You ask one Brony and they will approach the fandom like it's a cause for social change, while others just like the show for what it is. You have psychologists talk about the negativity and post 9/11 fatigue as a catalyst, but you have fans like me that were adults when 9/11 happened. Who knows why it all came about. I'm just glad it did and can enjoy the ride.

As far as the creativity ...  in 2011 I was shocked at the output in comparison to Star Wars and Harry Potter. I did have a sense of jealousy about the creativity. Not the volume (which was insane) but the general quality was much higher.  By the time I became a fan the fandom itself created more quality fan labor pieces in a few years than Star Wars has in almost 40.

Well there is a professional study, so you might be better served by looking up their research. "The Brony Study."

Just from personal experience, I'd say we are a great example of fandom. The amount of effort put into this passion, the amount of lives changed for the better, the consistent communication with the show staff, and more.

I'm proud to be a brony.  :)

Well, as long as the study is being done by an unbiased professional, then I don't have a problem.

I mean I think it's interesting to look at statistics and find a general trend.
