but what makes her love rocks so much?

It's alleged she has autism which is why she has such uncreative repetitive habits. By alleged I mean by 'Drowning In Horseshoes' I can't tell whether he is being hateful or genuine though.

Sometimes the simplest explaination is in fact ... truth. Maude likes rocks ... because she is facinated with them and all aspects. You have to have people that study geology, plate techntonics, etc in Equestria ... so yeah agreed.

 

She likes rocks, cause simple.

I suspect Maud was probably written to be autistic. One of the most common traits of autism is an intense interest in one subject. That would explain why she’s so obsessed with rocks.
