When does Shining Armor wear his red shirt/uniform?

ever since his marriage to Cadance, there have been occasions where Shining Armor has worn a red dress shirt or uniform (inspired by Prince William). he was wearing it during his wedding, during Twilight's coronation, and when Cadance was out of the Empire in Friends Forever #4, but not at any other time, like when the Crystal Empire was chosen for the Equestria Games. (which I found odd, since Cadance got dressed up for the occasion) so when does he wear it?

But it is a dress uniform, and it does most often come up in formal events. He could also possibly wear it when on royal business as well.

It seems to be a kind of formal uniform, and therefore would only be worn on special occasions and never on regular duty.

Its a ceremonial uniform. Many real life militaries have such uniforms which are usually worn during parades and special ceremonies.

If he takes my advice -NEVER!  I was a big fan of the original Star Trek & the red shirted security guard always got zapped 1st thing, to show how the monster worked (they pioneered the technique).  Wearing a red shirt is a death sentence!
