Chapter 1, The Nightmare begins,

 

 

Cloudsdale, A beautiful city high above Equestria, 

 

Close to the edge of Cloudsdale stood a Small house built of clouds, everypony had a cloud house. 

This one was a 2 story with 2 bedrooms, small kitchen, 1 bathroom and a basement. A simple house housing simple Pegusai.

 

Rainbow Dash flew over the house towards Ponyville. She seemed to be in a hurry.

 

"SLASH!! DINNER TIME!!!" Mom called up from the bottom of the stairs.

 

 

 

"DON'T CARE!!!" he yelled back, "I ALMOST BEAT THIS LEVEL" Slash was playing on his game-colt when the batteries died, 

 

"No-no no no- NO......." He threw the game across the room and smashed it into his TV screen,

 

Slash started cursing furiously,

 

 

 

 

STOMP STOMP STOMP, his door disintegrated; as the particles of the cloud door scattered,

Slash saw his dad standing at the door,

 

"What...did I just hear?"

 

"N-n-n-nnn nothing" Slash stammered

 

His dad noticed the broken game-colt and TV,

 

"You do remember me telling you, that that was the last game and TV you get right?" his dad pointed 

"I’m not giving you any more till you pass flight academy. "GOT THAT?"

 

"ONLY CAUSE NOPONY LOVES ME!" Slash rebelled, running out the room past his dad and out the front door, not even bothering to open it normally.

 

"What just happened honey? Slash's mom asked,

 

"He broke another TV and game-colt" dad replied, "I am NOT buying another, he even had the nerve to say we don’t love him"

 

(sigh) "Ill fix the doors, again."

 

Slash ran across Cloudsdale. To the only spot that had a view of Rainbow Dash's house. His only way to calm down had been watching R.D. Flying around, but this time Slash didn't see Dash

 

"That’s weird...,” he thought

 

As if on queue She Stopped over his head,

 

"HEY GO HOME.....NOW!!!!!! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK"

 

Slash couldn't move; He was in shock at the fact that his idol had spoken to him. 

He just sat there, dumbfounded,

 

"GO..." Dash demanded, noticing he wasn't moving she grabbed him and took him home,

 

Dash was good friends with his parents; everybody likes Dash.

 

Just as Slashes dad had come out to look for Slash he noticed Rainbow Dash carrying him,

 

Dash dropped him in front of his dad and yelled,

"WE ARE UNDER ATTACK BY CHANGELINGS EVERYPONY GET READY TO FIGHT!"

 

Dad said, "Thank you Dashie, SLASH GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW! DON'T COME OUT TILL I SAY!"

 

Snapping out of his fluster Slash bolted inside and up to his room almost knocking his mom over as he passed,

 

"Honey what’s wrong? She asked, Worry spreading across her face.

 

Hugging her he said,

 

"Get ready sweetheart, the Changelings are coming...."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 2, Fear and Anguish,

 

 

Rainbow Dash flew over the Cloudsdale yelling, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK THE CHANGELINGS ARE COMING!!!!!!!

 

Everypony started getting ready,

 

Dash looked to the south, "OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH!" Dash yelled,

 

There wasn't very many, but enough to do some substantial damage to the city, "At least SHE's not with them" thought Dash

 

Meanwhile, at Slash's house,

 

Dad strapped his Masamune on his back.

 

Dad is an experienced swords-pony. Taking place in numerous battles all across Equestria, and even some in other worlds.

 

His sword Masemune, was given to him by the legendary Sir Auron, on Gaia, 

 

A world of humans and SIN.

That’s a different story.

 

 

 

Mom is an expert medical pony working in both Cloudsdale and Ponyville, with only a little fighting experience.

 

She grabs her saddlebags and starts filling them with supplies.

 

"So how do you think this one will turn out honey?" She asked her husband,

 

"Sweetheart I would never lie to you," he said

 

"I know, you’re always right in these situations,"

 

"We won't be coming back......" he said, a tear sliding down his face, his voice not wavering.

 

"I see...." said mom, "I hope Slash will be ok...."

 

"He will be fine, if we tell him he will follow us you know that." said dad, "Our Slashie must live."

 

"Yes, your right. We must do everything we can to keep our son alive." Said mom

 

Slash spent the whole time in his room hiding in a little cloud igloo he made from his bed. The only hole to see was facing his window, which he raised so he couldn't see the ground.

 

Slash was terrified.

 

Mom and Dad finished preparing when their door burst open.

 

"Dashie where are they?" they asked

 

"THEY JUST ARRIVED AT ON THIS SIDE OF TOWN. HURRY!!"

 

"Heh and I thought I was impatient." said dad,; giving Dash a hug as he left.

 

"Dashie, do me a favor will you? Asked mom 

 

"IS THIS REALLY THE TIME WE"RE UNDER ATTACK!"

 

"Yes Dashie it’s the only time." hugging her she whispered into Dash's ear "Take care of our Slashie will you?"

 

"Wha...." Dash's sentence was cut short as Slash's mom tapped a nerve in Dash's neck that rendered her unconscious she drug Dash to the couch and lay her down. Kissing her forehead and saying 

 

"Thank you Dashie.... for everything. If anypony can teach Slash its you."

 

With that she turned and left meeting her husband outside the door and turning to reform the front door.

 

"You ready to go?' he asked

 

"No but who is? She replied

 

"At least we'll be together before the end." he said

 

"Together? I wouldn't have it any other way"

 

Chapter 3; You don't know what you have, until its gone.

 

 

 

The battle raged on all through the night until dawn.

 

Thankfully nopony was seriously hurt.

 

Dash awoke from her comatose state.

 

"OHMYGOSH!" She quickly jumped off the couch and flew through the door. 

 

POOF

 

Once outside Dash saw that the battle was over, the ground littered with the bodies of changelings.

 

Dash flew around the city making sure everypony was ok. She couldn't find Slashes parents anywhere.

 

Meanwhile, 

 

Slash noticed it was morning, not hearing anything for the last 2 or 3 hours he decided it was safe to come out.

 

He stood up destroying the igloo he made and walked over to the window.

 

Standing on his rear legs he saw everypony cleaning up the dead Changelings.

 

Wondering if they were doing the same, Slash ran outside to see if his mom and dad were outside.

 

He asked everypony if they had seen them. Nopony did.

 

Rainbow Dash had just looked around the city and could not find her two friends anywhere.

 

Dash started to cry, thinking of Slash and what his mom had said to her before she left.

 

Dash noticed Slash running around the city, she knew what he was doing so she flew down and picked him up.

 

Slash froze like a kitten being carried in its mother’s mouth.

 

Looking up he saw it was Rainbow Dash and his heart dropped,

 

Slash had never seen Dashie cry.

 

Dash took him back to her house. She didn't know how to tell him, "Here goes..." She thought.

 

Dash opened her mouth to speak, tears streaming down her face,

 

"Their dead aren't they....." he said, not as a question but a statement.

 

Dash dropped her head, "I......I'm....." Cut off from her stammering Slash started yelling.

 

"WHERE WERE YOU!?" Furious Slash bombarded Dash with questions, "WHERE IN EQUESTRIA WERE YOU? WHY DIDN"T YOU SAVE THEM?"

 

"but...I....I didn't.....your mom she...." Slash cut her off again

 

"I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE BEST! I THOUGHT THE "GREAT" RAINBOW DASH COULD DO ANYTHING!!"

 

Dash tried to explain through her sobs, but everything she said was so distorted Slash couldn't understand.

 

Slash turned and ran out the door with tears streaming down his face, he ran towards the edge of Dashes property and jumped.

 

He fell for a long time; about five seconds had passed before he opened his little wings to fly off.

 

(SNAP)

 

Both wings broke at the same time. 

 

"AHHHHHH!!!!!!" he yelled as the ground came rushing up to meet him.

 

Rainbow Dash heard the sound of wings breaking accompanied by Slash screaming in pain, being an expert flyer she knew the sound all to well,

 

She took off like a rocket and followed Slash's screams over the edge of her cloud.

 

"IM COMING SLASH!" she yelled

 

"DASHIE! HELP ME!!! He yelled back

 

Dash tried to do a Sonic Rainboom, "COME ON....." she thought

 

She built up a good amount of speed but nowhere near enough to save Slash. 

 

"SLASH!!!!!" She called

 

Too late.........

 

 

Chapter 4, Road to Recovery

 

 

 

 

Dash flapped hard trying to cut momentum.

 

Landing hard next to Slash, she said through wet bloodshot eyes,

 

“Im so sorry Slash, I should have been there”

 

Slash coughed,

 

“Ohmygosh your alive!”

 

Slash slowly opened his eyes till they were slits and looked at dash.

 

He coughed again, “no dashie, im the..cough..the one whos sorry.”

 

“Slash try not to speak, you need to save your strength.”

 

Before Dash finished her sentence Slash passed out.

 

“You poor thing”

 

 Dash gently picked Slash up and carried him to Ponyville General Hospital.

 

“OH MY CELESTIA, RAINBOW DASH, WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?”  Said Nurse Redheart

 

“Long story, can you help him?”

 

“Of course. Nurse Snowheart! Get me a stretcher, STAT!”

 

“Thank you.”

 

Nurse Snowheart comes in with the stretcher.

 

“Don’t thank me yet, Ok lets get him on the stretcher. 1-2-3”

 

Slash coughed up blood.

 

“We need to operate, NOW!” They wheeled Slash away leaving Dash in the lobby.

 

“Please be ok Slash.” She thought.

 

Rainbow Dash fell asleep on a bench in the lobby.

 

She had been waiting for over five hours.

 

Doctor Horse walked in and tapped on her sholder.

“Miss Dash?”

 

“Hmm? Wha? Oh doc how is Slash?”

 

“Good news is he has stabilized, he is lucky you brought him in when you did, otherwise he could very well have died.”

 

“Oh thank Celestia, im so happy!”

 

“The bad news” he paused “his wings are broken beyond repair. Where are the parents? We need their conscent to give him prostics.”

 

Dash explained the story to him.

 

“Well then it looks like its your call Miss Dash. Do we operate?”

 

“Do it”

 

He turned and walked toward the operating room.

 

As Slash was being operated on Dash decided to visit her friend Twilight.

 

“Hey Twi?” Dash asked, “Is there a magic wing spell?”

 

“Why Dash? Still not flying as fast as you would like?

 

“No its not that. A colt needs an operation for prostatic wings and I want them to feel as real as possible.”

 

“I will see what I can do Dash”

 

“Oh Thank you Twilight!”

 

2 Weeks Later.

 

Slash was out for two weeks. Never waking up until he had a dream.

 

It was such a nice dream and after it came to a close Slash woke up.

 

He looked over and saw a vase of flowers, one each color of the Rainbow,

 

“I need to leave.” He thought, taking out the IV and hopping off the

 

bed and moving toward the window.

 

Slash opened his wings and flapped up grabbing the window and opening it.

He flew outside and down the street. Looking for somewhere to crash for the night away from everypony.

 

He flew to Sweet Apple Acres. Finding a canvas tarp in the barn he filled it with some hay.

 

Taking it he flew away just as Apple Jack and Apple Bloom came running in.

 

They had seen Slash fly into the barn.

 

“Whut in tarnation?” Said A.J., “Get back here you little varmit!”

 

A.J. and A.B. chased after Slash but he was just a little faster.

 

He flew towards the Everfree forest.

 

A.J. stopped short of the treeline.

 

“Bloom lets go get some help. If we go alone we won’t find him.”                                 

 

“Okay sis.”

 

They galloped towards Ponyville.

 

Slash flew deep into the forest. Looking for a good tree to set up in.

 

Out of the corner of his eye Slash saw a sword sticking out from a tree trunk.

 

“Perfect”

 

He flew towards the tree and sat the tarp and hay on a few sturdy branches.

Flying up just far enough to see the weather he looked around.

 

“Well looks like clear skies.”

 

Landing on the branch he opened the tarp and lay it out as best he could.

 

 He looked at the sword.

 

“That looks like it could come in handy.”

 

Slash grabbed it with his mouth and pulled but the sword didn’t give an inch.

 

“Damn!”

 

He lay down on the hay and tried to sleep. Now that he was alone that wasn’t a problem.

 

He tried to forget. Forget the pain. Forget his loss. Forget everything.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 5,  Forget everything

 

 

 

Dash was at the hospital to visit Slash. She went to Nurse Redheart and asked,

 

“Is Slash awake yet?

 

“Not yet, but feel free to visit him if you want.” She said with a smile.

 

“Thank you.”

 

Dash walked toward his room as a panicked Doctor Horse slid around the corner,

 

“Hes gone!”

 

Dash’s heart sank,

 

“WHEN!”

 

“About a half hour ago.”

 

Without another word Dash flew out the front door,

 

“Rainbow Dash!” Called A.J.

 

“Huh, A.J. Im kinda in a hurry.”

 

“Some dark blue colt with weird wings jus plum stole mah tarp and flew into the Everfree Forest!”

 

“Oh no, Slash”

 

“Whut, You know him?”

 

”Lets get the others and I will explain everything.”

 

“Alrite then.”

 

They gathered everypony. (Twilight, Flutter Shy, Rarity, and Pinkie)

 

Dash explained everything.

 

(Twi) “That’s horrible”

 

(Shy) “Oh my.”

 

(Rarity) “Oh no darling, is there anything we can do?”

 

(Pinkie) “We could throw a PARTY! Well when we find him.”

 

(A.J.) “Well now ah feel reel bad.”

 

(Dash) “We need to find him, NOW!”

 

They all galloped to the forest and searched, and searched.

 

They searched all over the outskirts of the forest thinking that Slash wouldn’t be dumb enough to go deeper.

 

“SLASH!” they all called.

 

Twi gave everypony a charm that she made, that if you get in trouble all you have to do is think it and the charm will shoot a flare that only the other wearers can see.

 

(Dash) “We should split up and fan out.”

 

(All) “Right!”

 

Everypony started searching.

 

For hours they searched, until Twilight heard a noise, it sounded like snoring.

 

Twi looked up and saw a figure in a big tree in front of her. She teleported up to the sleeping pony.

 

“Hey? Hey wake up.”

 

“Huh?” Slash woke up and saw an Alicorn he had never met. “Who are you?”

 

“I’m Twilight Sparkle. Rainbow Dash asked us to help look for you.”

 

“No please don’t tell her where I am.”

 

“What? Why?

 

“I overheard Dashie talking to my dad about you and you’re amazing magic.

Please Miss Twilight, make me forget,” He started crying,

“Please make me forget what happened, I don’t want to remember anymore.”

 

“Ummm”

 

Twi didn’t know what to do.

 

“Please…….”

 

“What do I tell Rainbow Dash?”

 

“Make a fake dead me and tell her my last words were, “Tell Dashie I learned that I didn’t know what I had until I lost it all. Tell her I love her and not to cry for me.” ”

 

Crying Twi reluctantly agreed, casting a memory spell to make Slash forget and gave him a new life.

 

All he would know was where he was born and that he didn’t want to go back.

 

To keep him away from Dash she put it in his head that he was never able to see or speak to her. He must run from her.

 

She used a temporary spell that would last only 5 years, and a sleeping spell to make sure he didn’t see her as she left.

 

Twi teleported down to the ground and made a dead clone of slash and a dead timberwolf.

 

Twi teleported herself and the clones about 500 yards away and shot a flare.

 

Everypony came running the first being Rainbow Dash,

 

(Dash) “No….”

 

(Twi) “I’m so sorry Dashie”

 

Everypony else was silent

 

As Dash cried her friends came up one by one and hugged her.

 

Last being Twilight.

 

(Twi) "Dash, Slash told me to tell you something,"

 

She told Dash what Slash had told her to say.

 

Dash stopped crying

 

“Really?”

 

“Yes”

 

Dash got up and moved about 10 feet away. She started digging.

 

And digging.

 

She dug a 4 foot deep hole walked over to fake Slash and kissed his forehead.

 

“Good by, my little Slashie.” She picked him up and put him in the hole, burying him.

 

They all left, Dash looking back every so often.

 

“Good bye”

 

 

 

 

Epilog

 

 

For five years Slash kept to the shadows.

 

Only coming out at night.

 

Going around Ponyville stealing food.

 

He had found a place to bathe in the local swimming hole.

 

One day Slash woke up with a massive headache.

 

Everything Twilight Sparkle had made him forget came back all at once.

 

“AHHHHHHHHH!” he yelled  Writhing back and fourth.

 

Anger, Hate,  Sadness, Guilt all washed over him.

 

He had re set his camp on the ground so he wouldn’t fall.

 

A group of Timberwolves heard him screaming and came to investigate.

 

Slash heard them howl.

 

He grabbed his sword in his mouth and started swinging.

 

Before long every Timberwolf fell.

 

Slash stood there, panting.

 

He heard a noise from the sky. Slash flew up to see what it was.

 

“Dashie?”

 

Rainbow Dash was flying strait down over Ponyville. Building speed.

 

Faster and faster she flew.

(BOOOOOOM)

 

Dash preformed the Sonic Rainboom, Slash was blown back from the shockwave.

 

Slash landed on his bed. Stabbing his sword into his tree. Crying.

 

“Dashie…. I’m so sorry…….”
