@@Quinch,

Vivid let out a sigh. She really, Really, hated when they ran away.

Perhaps it had been too much to hope that this could be done with some degree of discretion after all, but she had still hoped that it could be done like that. Yet now, she had to make a choice on how to handle this situation, in which case the simple things quickly came around: Keep him floating around here with her magic, or break his leg so he couldn't run.

The first was the most acceptable one, but that didn't mean that the second one didn't sound tempting in its own way. It would not be a good way to start things off when he were brought before the princess, Quinch would have even less trust in her than he already seemed to have, and she would feel the retaliation from the breaking of her contract, as it wouldn't be the only way. Yet, it were still a simple way to handle things and though she wasn't the cruel thing her demonic masters had forged her into, it did not mean that violence was a thing that did not at least enter the thought process now and again.

Still, that aside, she supposed she could catch up with him and keep him there, but were that really the better option still? He had taken off in a direction that would put him in collision with the town she had tried to keep him away from for reasons unknown, though it started to seem like he might think she were bluffing about the place. Whatever the reason, he seemed hellbent on seeing it for himself, so if that were going to be the game they were playing... Fine, she would try and play his game for a little more before she switched over and made it her own.

Fading into purple smoke again, she entered the little Shadow-realm - as Priestess had called it earlier - and calmly followed the path that would take her to where she wanted a good deal before Quinch even got the chance to get there. He might have some speed in his legs, but even if it only took him half a minute to get to town, that would still be a good, 20 minutes for her due to the different way that time worked here, so she wasn't fussed about getting there in a hurry.

As Quinch would get nearer to town, he would notice both that it seemed like Vivid had not followed him, and that the town were like any rural, non-technology based town you could expect. Though with no people and instead mostly ponies, with the occasional small Dragon or Gryphon here and there.

He would not get a foot within city limits though, as he should soon take notice that Vivid stood in the way of him breaking out and revealing himself to them with a couple of meters to go before the ones he could see would be able to see him.

"And to there is enough."

A purple glow grew on her horn and three large, clawed, deep-purple hands rose from the ground and hovered over her head. Each of them seemed able to individually be able to hold Quinch in their grip, though unless he tried to pass her she would not move them an inch to try and do that.

"I repeat: I try to steer away from panic, and you might cause it if you burst out there without an escort they trust, which I am not. it could be I underestimate them and that they will be able to control themselves better than that, granted, but what reason should there be for me to take that risk?"

It was a genuine question. If he could giver her a good enough answer she would concede to it and let him pass, though if he couldn't, she would take him to the palace even if she had to drag him there.

Omen listened well to what Senlin said, and made a note of it in her head, but she would have to see what kinds of marks and such he meant for herself to really get it more than likely. She understood the words and what he meant by them, but a visual helped her have something to compare it to for another time, though she did still look around just to see if there was something. At which point her eyes fell on what seemed like odd, dark clouds gathered above a point further inside the forest.

"Is that a sign?"

The hands continued to close in on Crescent, his blade drawing more of the strawberry scented blood, but otherwise not doing much real damage. The hand that was dealing with Last would crash down through the deck right next to her in an attempt to bring her down with it. This caused the boat to rock for the first time, Nemo still standing still except only one leg that moved from its place as the ship tilted and then came back to a steady rocking as you would expect a normal ship to do. Last's relentless attacks were doing some damage, exposing large amounts of the sea green layer underneath, if she were paying attention she would see an opening on the back of the hand large enough that the under layer could be hit. The two hands had Crescent trapped between them and were preparing to pull him below decks. If they did, he too would be forgotten.

"Hard times like that are the times celebrations are needed the most, in my opinion. A good party can raise morale, easing the stress and the tension. The 'Absence of Thought' celebration also brings everyling closer together as they must meet face to face in order to talk to each other, as well as giving your connections time to rest and strengthen themselves, which can increase range and shorten reaction times as your mind can more quickly interpret the data it's receiving. It would be easier to defend yourselves with stronger connections. If you want, I can help you plan your first celebration, I have a couple Changeling friends I'm sure would help out, too. We can invite a few friends who are in the know, feeding off their love for each other with their permission and feeding off the newly formed bonds of friendship as is the way of the Cydonia hive. I know it might not be what you're used to, but the genuine plutonic love ponies feel for their friends can be almost as strong as the love they have for their special someponies. It's how I've survived all these years in Canterlot. By the way, is Petey awake yet? If not, he should be allowed to rest and I'll wait until then to check his connections."

"You can't host a celebration when there's nothing to supply one. Every foraging trip through the Everfree might as well be a full scale invasion. As you should know, the unnatural status of this forest throws our thaumaturgical sense off. Our natural compass to navigate the world is useless here. Our empathic sense is hindered here. With how thick the canopy is, it's difficult enough to tell the time of day. And go figure, this forest somehow has a magnetic field that throws compasses & watches off

So we go in blind, against some of the most dangerous wildlife in the nation. Quite the shift from the lifeless badlands. Those that were sent either comeback with wounds or don't come back at all. So each forage has an armed battalion escorting, with recon scouts, areal survalence, and line of sight communication. And even after all that, we can only manage enough just to get by, hoping that our agents in Ponyville have more luck. We have no money to buy furnishings, buy food, buy medicine, stuff the townsfolk take for granted. And we don't have anyling with the skills to fabricate such things either.  No, here you hunt, you gather, you nurse, you maintain, or you defend.

Making this castle livable and defensible. Avoiding detection. Distributing the rations so everyling can get by. Doctor, we cannot afford to host a grand event like that. Not without a lapse in our defenses, not without nymphs going hungry, not without being detected. You say you can help us plan?" she sat on her haunches and spread her hooves wide. "With what? The only things that made the trip from the badlands were weapons & armor.  Everything else that we have came with this castle. So sorry doctor, no celebration. Not when that celebration could end up being our last. And rest? I'll rest when I'm dead. My hive hasn't rested. Neither should I.

It may be cozy, your life in Canterlot, but not everyling has the luxury of love, acceptance and expendable resources in a safe and welcoming environment. Try having your celebration over in Griffonstone. That shanty town stands a much better chance." Allure then turned and began walking away from Doctor Xeno.

*ahem* "Umm, in case you're still wondering..." Priestess said in what amounted to loud whispering/ quiet yelling "Petey is still sleeping!" She pointed at the orange tailed changeling nymph sleeping on the chair.

Quinch didn't bother looking back, radar telling him what he needed to know, for now, at least. Vivid Loss didn't seem to pursue him, which either meant he caught it really by surprise, or it didn't think it needed to pursue him, at least not on foot. He filed that fact away, keeping his eyes forward - mostly.

The advantage of, well, let's not mince words, indecisiveness was that he did end up much closer to the settlement, and flat terrain and scattered tree cover let him cover the distance with relative ease. In fact, the sight he could glance through the trees was... definitely new.

Quadruped, he thought, taking in what detail he could. No clothes, variety of colors. Wings, horns... not both? Ornamental? Vestigial? Wings too small to fly. Symbolic markings on rump. Caste society? Really low tech. Thatched roofs? Really? Can't recognize the language. Shops? No open weapons in sight, likely peaceful. Hopefully peaceful. Find out soon.

A soft ping told him what he was expecting, as the purple smoke gathered in front of him and the familiar figure reappeared a short distance ahead, soon accompanied by a trio of ghostly hands. Teleportation, confirmed. Shadow magic too. Using horn as focus? Racial trait? File it away.

"I repeat: I try to steer away - "

He didn't try to stop. Or slow down.

Grounded.

He jumped. That might be a slight misstatement - it might be more accurate to say that he jumped, and then kept going up, the ridiculous pink boots flaring up with blue flames as he sailed over Vivid Loss' head and accompanying claws, grabbing an overhead branch in passing and leaping into the canopy.

Whilst Briar hadn't much of a clue about what Syo did, beyond something moving through the air as far as he could feel, Brittle looked up at it with both caution and wonder in her eyes. She wasn't very good with magic herself , and had barely seen any of it beyond the usual telekinesis in the life that she remembered, so it was both scary and interesting to watch other kinds, especially ones with light.

As the light vanished into the keystaff Seamore mentioned that they had to get going and started to go in a direction that would lead them towards the grove. On the way there, Briar had been on the edge of asking Syo what exactly had transpired just before and try to learn a little more about her, when his sensitive ears caught wind of some talking. Strange talking too, like if somepony tried to emulate a snake.

"Curious, it sounds like there's others in this direction. Perhaps your friend isn't the only one waiting for us after all Syo."

The hand was very close to getting her down with it, but Last managed to just barely avoid it, though it did leave her with a cut down her side from one of the sharp fingers. What it also left, however, was the hand exposed as it's back were turned up now, and it revealed what looked like a layer beneath what she had cut through so far. A weak point perhaps? They would see soon.

Last jumped up a little to make sure that she would have the right angle, turned the swords downwards and with all the pressure she could put into it, jabbed downwards and pierced into the hand as far as possible. Through it perhaps even, though she wasn't sure about how sturdy this were in the inner layers.

It would give her a few brief seconds to look over things, standing on or next to the back of the hand - the deck was getting wobbly, so hard to tell which - at which point she finally took notice of Crescent being tag teamed by a pair of these things. The last she had known there had only been one, but with two he were rapidly loosing. If there was something to be done, it had to be done fast. Like, Now.

If possible, last would attempt to get the sword with her, but if it were for some reason out of reach, stuck too deep in the hand, or otherwise occupied in a way that would take her more than three seconds to retrieve, she would abandon it and instead take up the length of chain as she ran towards the 2-VS-1 going on. What would happen from there, they'd see.

@@Quinch,

Great, just what she needed: Somepony who did not only not wait, but also didn't let her speak out. Quinch was really starting to come off as quite rude at this point.

He were also going to see the error in thinking that he could outrun three floating hands by jumping over them and try and do a monkey swing. Even if one of the hands had not quite literally grabbed his left leg as he got into the canopy, she had enough and had also employed general telekinesis, stopping him in his track and- putting him down on the ground, at which point both the telekinesis stopped and the hand let go of him.

"If you're not going to listen, then at least walk in instead of acting like savage."

You could hear the annoyance in her voice, but was it any wonder either? She tried to be diplomatic here and be nice to the stranger in their lands, but he were really starting to press her buttons right now and test his luck, and if he were going to test her boundaries he could at least have the decency of seeming less like a savage.

Though it was against her better judgement, she stopped her magic, which made the veil-made hands disappear in a small puff of purple and would at least attempt to wander to a place near the fool Human this time. Perhaps this time he would know the proper way of handling things and not try something again. Such as hitting her, which would have very, Very, bad consequences for him.

She might rethink her definition of *surprises* as the second she got into the gate and it closed behind her, she would be faced with a sight that more than likely would: Ziggy riding what looked like a Chinese Dragon made of rapidly-deteriorating shadows. And also, the whole other of the large, dark and several degrees of grey realm where eyes started to follow them from the landscape rather quickly.

Weird sounds would be heard by her as the other projected their speech just like Omen did around them but unlike her, Serenade wouldn't be ale to understand this tongue.

"My siblings can feel Luna's magic. They find it interesting."

The ground shot up with the two of them still on a roughly-round plate of a solid mass and slowly began to take them around whilst Omen looked at seemingly nothing in silence, rapidly changing where she looked as she tried to find the point where the train station were.

As for Ziggy... Well, she seemed to have a lot of fun playing around and getting some attention of her own, so Omen ignored her for the time being. No reason to spoil her, or her siblings fun.

They would have gotten about three hours sleep before something started to happen. At first it was just a small vibration going on in the walls, nothing serious. Then eventually some scratching sounds began to follow up and soon thereafter, the sight of a large Timberwolf raised up on its hinds legs to look into the windows on the second floor came into sight, right outside where Summer would be sleeping.

The old matron had been busy for the past three hours, and managed to get herself some prey after a good deal of searching which took care of the hunger at least, but she was still irritable after the ponies from before had managed to get out of her grasp. Their kind looked very succulent and tasty, but none of their kind ever really got a chance to taste one of them because they either ran away, used magic or flew off. Or in the case of the others, a combination of it all except magic, and then hiding in a dangerous tree.

She should perhaps just accept that they weren't going to become things on her menu, but when she had been that close... It irritated her, and what would you know: When she had passed the house that had been empty the few times she had ventured this far away from her usual hunting grounds, the smell of pony was there again. Not just that, but something else, something... Unique.

It mattered not what that were, she would see soon enough. And she had been right about seeing things, as when she stretched herself out to look in she got a good look of at least one tasty morsel, though it seemed like the sidedish were sleeping right now. Which wouldn't do. She couldn't just smash this house as it seemed more sturdy than thr tree she had earlier, so she had to rattle them up, and then see if she couldn't get them out. Something she did in a simple way befitting of her kind: Changing her mouth to be against the window instead of her glowing eye, and then letting out a loud roar that would either wake the ones in the house up - especially Summer - or they were dead/deaf already.

The smallest of them held a slingshot in his hoof and what looked like a selection of small rocks next to the shoddy hideout they had made for themselves, as well as a few empty cans. Likely plundered from the garbage can, though who the targets of those particular things were for were anypony's guess.

A little further away from that, down towards the beginning of the street of Ponyville, a clown seemed to be juggling whilst chatting up some strangers next to a small, colourful wagon. The sign on the wagon would say *Chonga's children party's and more*, though it would be obstructed from this angle. It would appear though that he had a good time entertaining random ones who came by now and again and chatting them up, and if Adante was to be going that way it was possible that this performer would try and talk with him too. Especially since he seemed to stand out more than the regular ones in town.

Then again, his eyes might also get drawn towards the hooded figured that was walking down said street, headed either for the train or directly for him. The one in question were covered in old wrappings, like gauze, and were a good head taller than the regular size of others around him if you took an average amongst the adult ponies. beyond that it were hard to tell anything though, as his face and most of his body were obstructed by the dark-brown, hooded robe, though you could see that he were not a pony at least from the end of the white paws going into orange and black stripes further up before more gauze and the robe blocked the view.

Were either of these things going to affect him if he took notice of them? Perhaps, perhaps not. Yet time would tell much, including if he were going to be bothered by things so soon after getting of the train, or if this were just coincidences.

@@EQ_Theta,

Omen looked at Senlin. He seemed to act... Strange, before saying they should set off and look towards the skies. She wasn't sure what exactly, but perhaps it was something about the skies. Might be that it reminded him of something.

It didn't jog her mind much personally. In her time the skies had mostly been pink and spouted out chocolate rain, frogs, or something else at random, and these were nothing like that from the looks of things. It seemed out of place, but that was more or less what registered in her head.

"I don't know much about Zebras. Only seen Zecora and Ziggy, and there don't seem similar. Hard to tell what is normal for their kind from that. Do you know them better?"

Omen asked this as she began to wander in the direction of the clouds at the same speed they had walked out here after the run to the city limits. It wasn't a grand question, but the alternative had been to ask what he had been thinking of before, and this one had won out in the end. Perhaps after it she would come back to whatever or not something had been going on in his memories, but they would see. It wasn't always the same question stayed there for long with her.

"How could I have been so stupid!"

The sound of Last somewhat screaming to herself were heard when Crescent would eventually begin to regain his senses. Her voice were filled with anger, though it shouldn't sound like it were directed at him, as Last were faced away from him and towards the part of the dream hall they were in where he wasn't in her immediate sight.

"I should have know better than to trust anypony here, and yet I took that... Abomination along."

She seemed to stomp a good deal to let out some aggressions, and she wouldn't take notice of anything that Crescent did behind her whilst this self-scolding went on. In part because she were on a rant and it was hard to shift away from that, and in part because she wouldn't hear it over the noise she made herself.

"And now, I have him dragged down with me. I were supposed to fix things, not make it worse!"

Last hadn't been awake for more than a few minutes, but it hadn't been time consuming to see what had happened either. The door was faded, they were outside and *Nemo* were gone. From all angles it looked like they - or her, if you wanted to go into specifics - had failed.

In many ways she had only herself to blame for this, and she figured that when Crescent woke up, he would do the same. The signs had been there in the bar now that she had the time to think about it, and on the boat... She had seen the glimpse of something on the grey thing's face, and she had ignored it to go after what she had thought were the actual threat until it were too late.

When she had run at Serenade, barely able to regain the rusty blade, the screaming of Nemo had drawn her attention long enough to tell her that something were wrong there. The layers, what seemed like a possession, and of course, the hands that turned out to be connected to him. But it had been too late. He had taken Crescent before she had a chance to strike at him, and then everything had gone dark and well... Here they were.

Nemo might be hurt now, or perhaps just whoever he seemed to have been possessing were, but it wouldn't last long she thought. The wound had closed fast on the appendage before and though she had stabbed through it, she didn't think it would make much of a difference as that could likely get fixed fast enough too. But the next time she saw him a wound wasn't what she were going to leave him with anyway.

If the sword from before were still with her when she woke up, as she had clung to it before it all went dark, then that would be what she thought in vivid details about using against him, though if it wasn't there she would just think of a blade in general. She had found one in a dream before, and she could find one in another again if it came to it.

As to what would happen with the one Nemo were possessing... Well, they would see when the time came, though she didn't have much hope for somepony that were being used as a vessel for this thing. Likely, the poor sod were lost already.

"Ah, splendid. I look forward to meeting him when that time comes, though for now, we should soon see a few others that would perhaps need our attention. Three from the sound of things."

It wasn't far from where they were and up to the point where the others were, yet at the time when they did get there it seemed as if one of the assembled ones had left the other two a little. Or perhaps he/she were hiding? It had not been a long time, so it were conceivable that there were one watching over them, so to speak. Though at first, perhaps he should address the ones who were standing and watching them as they had arrived. Amongst them, what seemed like a colt that acted as if this was a border passing, and a mare who were rightly curious about the muddled crew of arrivals.

"Who says that business and pleasure cannot be the same thing? To be part of the great cycle of nature can be a fascinating thing after all, and most pleasurable to take part of. Beyond that, it is as my companion said, we are simply here to - hopefully - plant some seeds of some rather fascinating trees. Ah, but where are my manners? My name is Briar Trapjaw, at your service."

He made a fine and solid bow towards the colt and the mare, speaking softly as he did the presentation of himself and a respond in part to what words they had been greeted with. He kept his mouth somewhat closed even if a small smile were on his face when the bow was over, though he didn't return to facing the two he knew were in front of them. Instead, he seemed to scan through the nearby tree-crowns whilst he kept speaking, and pointing carefully towards Brittle as it were.

"Whilst I let it be up to my companions to decide for themselves if they wish to introduce you to them, I can at least present you for my dear friend Brittle Buzz here. I hope you take no offence in her not saying something herself, she is a little shy in it."

After a bit of this, his face seemed to stop at the crown of a particular tree where he had felt the wind acting out more than the others. Not because of the energy, or because of leaves, but because the wind flowing by seemed like it vaguely told him about there being more than fauna amongst it branches. Said tree would either be the one Sisilia were in, or one nearby her that might have misdirected the wind slightly, though if it were the one she were in in particular, she would see the Evergrown with the closed eyes send her a big, toothy smile directly towards her that properly showed of the razor-sharp teeth, though the rest of his face seemed inviting and calm.

"Though, perhaps she is not the only one?"

"I don't know any zebras. Really disadvantageous at a time like this, huh?"

Truth be told, he didn't even know creatures called zebras existed until Zecora was brought up. All of his tracking knowledge and skills relied heavily on past experience and even then, it wasn't much. He left home before he perfected the art and used field experience to teach himself everything else. How this would equate to finding zebras is unknown.

[Andante spots a street performer off in the distance]

Many cheers and many words

trade through this jest.

Perhaps laughs we'll trade

And directions get.

Further still a friend to find

Sharing in streets performed.

Mayhaps we stay and make a day

To cheering strangers along.

[midway towards the clown Andante spots a mysterious figure]

Suspicious grabs ill hide

shadows cast in day

Curiosity by our hoof binds

Though answers we'll later find before led astray.
