"That's the Ruby we all know an love. Spot on with a decisive decision, right off the bat."

Spicy chuckled at her little sarcastic remark, as she looked around, thinking on what to do here. There were a whole lot of options, and sadly, Ruby hadn't been all that thrilled on naming a place. Seriously, she were the last person anypony should call in an emergency with that sorta attitude *Hey, my house is on fire, what do I do?* *I dunno, whatever.*

Heh, sounded about right actually, though that still weren't helping on the current situation.

"...Eh, bugger it. Let's head for the casino. They got all we need in there, including one hay of a buffet. I'm talking crispy hay, whisky-infused apple fritters, shrimps, spicy calamari, honey-roasted boar, you name it. If there's one thing Diego knows how to do, it's to be as all inclusive as possible, so he can accommodate every sort of tourist in this place. I kid you not, he even got open pools for aquatic creatures like mermaids, and licensed caretakers for the sort who brings their kids with them, among other things. Come on, let's go. It's impossible to miss his building, what with that big ol' head of his plastered on it."

"That're just some of the crazies. Others just keep it locked up because they don't wanna be seen the wrong way, or make things difficult for those around 'em. Plus, the sort who thinks they're sane, tend to behave pretty odd and give the game away. Those who don't... Well, nothing to be done there but try and get them out of their mess again once they've revealed their issues."

If she had been observant enough, Nada would likely be able to tell that Berry fitted well into the second category. Crazy without knowing it, but acting pretty weird so others tended to see it. In her defense though, she were a high functioning crazy pony. A bit out there and thinking there were something going on that likely wasn't, yet ultimately harmless and able to do well in society. You just had to ignore her quirks like dumpster diving, which the few who knew she did, tended to do. Others just figured it were the filly in the forest who did it, as she historically did so for parts.

“We know someone who is interested with what you just told us and we think you can help him. Our village elder, Ghilan, shares our sentiment that the longma shouldn’t be afraid to make contact with other groups like the ponies or changelings. He wants to be able to present something to the other elders when their set to next convene as he is under lots of scrutiny; he just doesn’t know where to start.”

"I can help him. Thorax barely knew how the outside world functioned, and he have proven himself studious in what information I have given him. If your elder is willing to listen, I see no problem in getting through to him over a period of time, and give him some valid arguments to use when meeting the others of his stand.

As a readily available example, you mention how your tradition is to uphold a balance with nature? A tree given, for every tree taken? Not knowing much of the outside world, it would seem like an impossible thing then to have any sort of trade arrangements going, as the amount of plants needed to be planted for what were taken would be a full time, tedious process. One that at best, would provide meager results every six months to twenty years, depending on growth and the plant in question. Like for instance, that Heartwood you talk about, which already only gives meager results that requires a lot of work and effort for what you can get.

However, as one who have seen more than his share, I can tell you that there is a fairly easy solution to this: Nature magic. Something which have three groups proficiently wielding it to prominent degrees, be it more actively or passively. Those three groups are known as Druids, Dryads, and Evergrown, and regardless of their methods, they can all assure that even though more is taken from nature, it can be regrown and even provide better harvests, without any unnatural, dangerous practices.

The Druids are a flock of peculiar earth ponies who have harnessed their inner abilities, and expanded greatly upon them via ancient practices from a once forgotten Germane cult. They can seem a bit outlandish, but they tend to keep secluded as well, even when they are out in the world and spreading their practices, as well as tending to varied areas. Usually farms and other grassland areas, but the more of them are gathered, the stronger things they can handle, such as regrow entire patches of burned down forest within a few days, though it drains them drastically, and they need to go into a meditative rest afterwards.

Dryads are an actual race though, rather than an order. THey are creatures grown from the ground by a creature they worship, called *The Earth Mother*. The same creature the Evergrown also worships, but it is not the only similarity. We will get to those later.

The Dryads are varied in forms and sizes, though can generally be seen as matching the creatures in whatever area they grew up in to some extent, and as - allegedly - children of their goddess, they wield nature magic that is unrivaled by any race or group you could find anywhere. A single dryad, could not only maintain a forest the size of the Everfree, and keep it flourishing, but regrow the entire thing in mere hours. An entire flock of them? I have only heard of that happening, not seen it, but as an example, the Dragon Isle's have a valley with a flock within, and they provide a seemingly endless amount of lumber to the dragons around them.

The thing with dryads are though, that they live under a principle of balance, not only with the plants. They see themselves as needing to maintain a certain order in the food chain as well, so animals can be well taken care of by them too, and the critters often seek them out for help, or follow them around. The way you speak of the longma, I believe your kinds could get along well with one another, as there seems to be a decent respect for nature, and they would be happy to help those who show that sort of respect, long as you don't mock their beliefs. Also, they can tend to wish to seek out those around them and talk to try and learn, so they're less isolationists than for example the druids, or Evergrown.

This leads us into those last mentioned. Another race that is also grown from nature. Specifically, from large, magically infused trees that are generally hidden behind powerful magics, as them and ponies have a... Troubled, history.

See, the Evergrown have a peculiar sap flowing through their veins, that functions as highly efficient fertilizer. I have personally seen one regrow a tree that were a mere stump, with just five droplets, or flourished a berry bush with one. Now try to imagine such a race being near a race of equines, that are primarily farmers trying to feed a growing population. I hope you can understand the unfortunate side effects this caused, despite Princess Celestia declaring it a highly illegal act.

So they went into full isolation mode. Went to their trees, shrouded their villages, and used varied illusion spells to desorient anyone trying to get near their settlements, so they could be left alone. Some are starting to be more open and accepting these days though, and have shown some willingness to start trade with other races, where the thing they have at offer are vials of their sap, and basically anything can be given in return. Isolated and relying on oneself can lead to lacking in essentials, such as books, cloth, and the occasional medical remedy.

They're a fairly young race, being only around six hundred years in existence, and tend to look like ponies, yet are clearly made of natural things such as bark, moss and vines, rather than flesh. Why that is, no creature knows for sure, though rumor is that someone created them, starting in a desert far south from Equestria's borders, which is now a flourishing jungle, and the base of their creation included ponies. Though I would take this with a grain of salt. It is far more likely they are just an off branch of the dryads who have evolved in another fashion, and didn't distinct themselves enough until those six centuries past.

Regardless, these are three groups that can help with your issues of keeping enough for yourselves, for trades with the outside world, and yet still be able to give back to nature in abundance, for whatever were taken. I would personally suggest trying to get a dryad or two enticed to come visit your forests as being the best option, as they are friendly and would not require something in return for their help, other than some mutual respect. If not them, then the Evergrown, as they can relate to your way of living more easily, and may already be in the vicinity. You'd be surprised how many areas have not known for centuries on end that an entire village like this were just hidden near them, and if the more natural an area is, the greater the odds of them having a presence somewhere.

The Druids are good too, but of the three, I think they would perhaps clash with the longma the most, considering again that they are ponies, and their way of life can be difficult to deal with for even the more open-minded creatures."

This were quite a lot to have said, but it felt like it needed to be. Though looking to the side, he noticed Omen just starring at him, head tilted to the left, with question marks almost radiating from her eyes, as she had no idea what he were going on about.

"We're just talking politics, Omen. It's like magic. Not something everyone needs to understand, and mostly important for the ones making the big decisions, like the princesses. In this case, if they'd like some help from others. The big words are just details that you don't have to be worried about."

"Okay."

It were difficult to baseline this for Omen, so it had seemed easier to him to simply just tell her what she needed to understand of it. She seemed to accept it too, which were good. Politics were gnarly, convoluted things filled with things that most didn't need to know about, unless it impacted their way of life. In this case, if the longma elders would accept help, they'd then tell that in an easier to swallow way for their citizens. He could do that to her too, if this eventually lead anywhere.

@Etched Daydream

"Wish I could kiddo, but I got some things to do here. Ain't that right, Captain?"

If Thunder looked behind him, he'd find that seemingly out of nowhere, a pegasus mare in a specialized suit of armor of her own would stand about half a meter away, and look directly at him.

She seemed to be in her mid to late forties, with a slick back, pale blue mane with white streaks in them, and about as regal as a statue. Though regular of build, the mare somehow seemed to just ooze of an aura of authority, and the shiny, well kept armor made of the same metal as Downstream's necklace, sat firmly and imposing on her. This were clearly a mare used to being in control, and embracing it full on.

"Yes. You have several duties to fulfill, and now that you're back, I see no reason to delay them anymore."

"Yeah yeah, I get it. Thunder, this here's Captain Fahrenheit. Former general of the Coastal Guard. Know your place around her, or she'll have you cleaning toilets for a week."

"*Hmph* Three weeks."

@Moonlit

Oh why had she to be a rock? Surrounded by sirens and snugly fillies, she just wanted to be something more active. Like a squid, or perhaps a seal. Something pudgy with movement at least. That way, she could use her time to snuggle in closely with these rascals instead of sitting around passively. Though she'd still have to be careful, seeing as she had a foal on her head.

This were also the reason why she couldn't bow her head to have a sip of water or anything, as she might accidentally make the filly fall off, or heavens forbid, make the vantage point go so close that the favored position weren't as attractive anymore: The scandal that would come from this would surely result in outrage, and much tears.

Still, she'd give a big smile to Harmony, as the thought were nice. For now though, this rock had to try and sit still, which thankfully were easier after her swim draining some energy from her, but sooner or later, Ziggy would have to go on the move again, even if she were being used as a glorified cat pillow, but for sirens and foals. What a weird, but glorious day this were.

@Sekel

Enzo halted instantly, as he felt a paw softly hit the little equine, who for some reason had stopped up. Seemed it were a good idea for him to have wandered carefully, to avoid accidentally squashing them, though why were Atzy stopping? Were it another vision?

The question got an answer before he could ask it. She were indeed seeing something. Changelings by the sound of it, though her terrified expression confused him. Why would a vision of her own kind, cause her distress? Perhaps this were Karmic's influence, as a pony may well be scared around their natural predator? Potentially it, but he'd have to take note of this, just in case. It might prove important later on.

"They are but figments of the past, Atzy. They cannot see, nor hurt you. Tell us, what do you see? Is the hive doing something of importance?"

That a hive could establish itself so close to Dragon Land were peculiar, and potentially alarming. Especially as this were clearly a mine before it were abandoned, which could have some rather dark implications of what happened to the hive, in case they were here before the dragons found it.

===========================================================================

@Sekel

Well... She weren't shouting or flying off. That had to count for a sort of win, right?

Happy kept quiet too as they went on, with no idea what to say in this case, without poking the bee hive so to speak, or making it even more awkward.

It'd stay this way for a while as they wandered through the forest, before Happy suddenly stopped up, and perked his ears. It were pretty weak, but did he just hear... Were that whimpering? Yeah, it were, and it were mighty close too.

Without a word, he'd unshackle himself from the wagon and wander to the right, following the weak sound that got a little more audible as he got closer, eventually culminating in wandering past a tree and turning his head to the right to see the culprit of this sound: A small, changeling nymph. About the size of a foal just starting school, with a colorful exoskeleton and membranous wings.

As it heard him getting nearer, it would open up it's big eyes, and look at him with the pale, blue orbs, and curl up even more, whilst the whimpering intensified. Seemed like the poor little thing were scared.

"Hey, it's okay. We're your friends. See?"

A flash of green went over him, and he'd take on a form resembling his usual changeling disguise, but with the overlay of his new form, complete with the fluff around his neck and upper chest.

The little one would look up again, still shaking, but not averting it's eyes this time, as he kept going with the soothing tone.

"You got lost, sugar?"

"I-I was pwaying hide awn seehk. I g-got lawst."

Female it seemed. And of the new variant, which seemed to answer one of Onache's questions towards Thorax: New ones could definitely breed, though that wasn't really important right now.

"It's okay, we'll get you safely back to the hive, alright?"

He'd get closer and slowly reach a hoof out so that he could get hold of her. She were obviously scared, but seeing another of her own kind, seemed to help on things, as she wouldn't try and take off while he scooped her up. He'd get a bit of a chuckle out of seeing her poke his fluff though, clearly curious as she hadn't seen that on others of her kind.

Soon as he had her up on his neck, sitting comfortably on said fluff and clinging to him as best she could, he'd turn towards Aurora again.

"Come on, let's get this lil' one back home, where she belongs. I'm sure the nurses are crawling outta their good exoskeleton, thinking 'bout where she's gone off to."

====================================================================

@Sekel

"Because I got purpose again."

Last indeed felt happier, as she were now no longer unsure about what to do with herself soon. Sure, this duty might get dull to a point, but Ponyville did have its share of attackers from what she had heard, and there were a whoooole lot of work that could be done with fortifications, working on convincing the princess that she needed her own guard regiment, etc. etc. So she would have enough to do for a while, she were sure of that. And this time, she were sure that she'd be doing this, and so much more, again under the service of the crown. Of friendship this time, granted, but a princess were a princess, and this one needed help.

"I'm a Shrine Maiden, your highness. I have a thousand years of family history behind me, filled with ponies serving the throne of night without question. It's in my blood to follow, but after Princess Luna returned from her exile and dismissed us from service...

She thought she were doing us a kindness, to no longer be bound to that battle-filled scar we had protected, but us who grew up there, we don't know what to do without this. We Need to fight for the throne, or we can't exist.

Now I have a new throne to serve, and long as I live, it will not fall."

Her last words carried a sort of ominous weight to it, which should make it obvious to Twilight that yes, last were intense, and she fully intended to die for the throne if she had to, long as it meant that the princess would remain alive. She might need some time to adjust to this mare.

Last didn't say more, but marched on, as Cherish floated into sight and got close to the princess. Her voice would be lowered and she'd send nervous glances towards Last, hoping that the mare wouldn't hear her.

"I've seen her behavior around the other princesses. Like you said, she's uhm... Intense. Fanatical even. But she means well. I-I think. She might just take some time to get used to."

"Oh, it's always tempting darling, but nothing happens.  There is a safety measure that prevents a creature from going anything further than two thirds of their body,"

That were a shame. It were such a fun idea to think of putting him down there and see him wriggle about for a little. They'd get him out too of course, but they should have their fun too, yes? Also, if it could contain a full being, it could be used as some rather sneaky transportation. Perhaps if she ever met Rising's sister, she should try and argue against the safety precaution. And honestly, what sibling would not leave a small loop hole in the rules for their brother or sister? Did Equestria not enjoy pranking their family now and again?

5 hours ago, Rising Dusk said:

"Our Princess Twilight Sparkle I'm sure will be most delighted in the opportunity of visiting Harrowmark.  I can practically hear her giddy squeal at the chance to learn something new already,"

"There is plenty to learn in Harrowmark for a curious mind, I can assure you. And as one of high standing, I can assure you that your princess will be protected the best that Harrowmark can, and steered correctly through what she may feel, if she dabbles into the magic of our lands. It have a way of twisting the mind of the overly curious, if they are not ready for it."

Now, personally, Caramel had never met the current ruler of Harrowmark, but the laws of the land and old text on how to be diplomatic should still remain the same, and barring her being an incredibly rude individual, the royal house should not be dismissive of the Princess of Friendship, though they would have questions of their own, and also wish to discuss actual politics to some degree. As a newly freed country, they had to try and mend a whole lot of old bridges now, as well as establishing some new ones. Even if Equestria were far away, a portal system could easily handle a connection between them. It just had to be discussed and set up properly, though really, the system would be done before the meeting were done she would imagine. Their portal mages of old were rather good, so long as Twisted didn't have them all killed and their books burned, there should be plenty to work with in regards to the current casters in the castle.

6 hours ago, Rising Dusk said:

 "I'll be fine.  I'm sure I have a cold pill in my bag," he tried to reassure the mare assisting him, but likely wouldn't work.  Rising did have to admit, the heat was nice and soothing.  "Thank you," he told Wisp, some savior.  "I knocked over an Ever Water,"

While Caramel focused on that, Wisp's entire focus were on ensuring that Rising were taken care of, and his small talk about having a pill against the cold were waved away dismissively. Metaphorically that were. In actuality, she shook her head a little at the mere notion.

"Just because you have medication, does not mean you should get ill."

Rising might be prepared for a good deal of things, but why combat the problem, when you could avoid it in the first place? If he got heated up and dried now, he might not get ill in the first place. Sounded like the far better solution to her, rather than go through some potentially effective medication, that still ultimately only got in use because you got ill in the first place. Besides, like this, he'd have that for another time when she sadly wouldn't be there to keep him warm.

*sigh* But like were implied, it were soon time for him and Minty to go. They had been here for quite a while too honestly, and she could understand them wanting to get back home, where it were safer and they had others that worried for them. Guess she should just enjoy the last bit of time there were left here, until eventually she'd be able to go and meet up with him in his own country.

7 hours ago, Rising Dusk said:

"Hopefully it won't prove too boring a read, but I'm sure it will create a foundation to help ease the process.  You three are welcome anytime, of course," she smiled, addressing Wisp, Caramel and Sickle.  "I'm sure you'll want to collect your mother my dear, she'll more likely believe the fall of her tormentor from you than any of us."

"...Try and give her this."

Sickle reached under her dress and withdrew an old sickle, still kept sharp, but it were clear that it had seen better years. On the handle were carved a few initials, and the blade were adorned with a vaguely shining, green depiction of the top piece of a wheat plant. It were nothing fanciful, just an old spell adorned into a carving, meant to keep the blade functional throughout the years. Foals stuff really, and so ingrained that if it were removed, the whole thing would more or less perish into dust within seconds.

"It's been in our family for generations. If she sees that, she'll know you've met me. If she believes that you didn't hurt me, please tell her that I forgive her."

It were a prized possession, but if there were anyone she could try and entrust it to, it were these two. So she would reach it towards them, handle first, and await an action.

"And don't you worry hun, we will come and collect her sooner, rather than later. A week at most I would wager. Portal magic in Harrowmark used to be grand once upon a time, and I cannot imagine they have destroyed all records off it, just in case Twisted one day would meet his end. The little time they would need seems perfectly adequate to learn what this book can provide, and potentially make the argument that as the most knowledgeable about Equestria, I have a valid reason for being among their first to travel, Sickle are there to pick up a Harrowmark citizen, and Wisp knows you better than any of us, dear Rising, and would have an easier time reaching out and inviting you back as part of the diplomatic process. I would say that we should have little issue dealing with waiting time."

A bit of a sneaky thought behind her wanting to learn about Equestria came into sight there, but it were still a fair argument. Even if it wasn't in a position as diplomats, they all had solid reasons for going there, and Caramel could speak for their case well enough. She had a long track record of doing that, and though this would be with the royal house, she were sure that their regent could see a point in what she said, and would listen to more abbreviated information so that things could come along smoothly, rather than take time that they may not wish to spend.

"You Do know that you will be required to attend too, once your princess deigns us worthy of a visit, no? You are the great savior of Harrowmark. Our queen would not accept a visit that did not include such a pivotal figure for our history, so that she may personally meet the one who ended six centuries of tyranny. Don't worry though, I'm sure it will only be required the first time, and you will be left out of the more tedious details that are more between regents. Unless at that time, you find other reasons to return? Hmhmhm, we'll see now, won't we?

And please, for the love of everything good and pure, let Minty find you an outfit for that meeting. You simply Must look your best, and with all due respect, I have doubts that you'd show in anything more fancy than a cardigan, were you to pick yourself."

Thunder would blink then look behind him to see the captain. He would nod "Hello Captain" he would say before turning his attention back to Tidal "Ah well, I'm sure I'll think of a way to surprise them" he'd say, looking around "I do suppose I ought to get to Cloudsdale to tell them the news now, before I start." he'd say, rubbing the back of his neck "As I am also supposing that once I get back, the hard work begins"

The Druids, the Dryads, and the Evergrown… good places to start, and as it happens, it would also present the opportunity to introduce magic to the longma. Despite already seeing it in action with Omen and Lin’s ability to open gates, learning that magic isn’t such a bad thing through practical application would be the way to go. Getting to know other races that share a common view of nature is also a great side benefit, slowly opening up the longma to the world outside while realizing it is alright to recognize their right to privacy. It might just be the thing that they all need, Sen and Lin included.

“The Dryads and the Evergrown sound like they’ll love our forest home! As much as we’ve discovered ways of navigating the forest, we’ve only ever marked our paths moving in between villages. The rest of the forest is untouched aside from specific areas for picking certain resources. There’s also the occasional ruin or two we sometimes explore.”

“Only one of them has actually been reclaimed. A settlement has been built around it and it’s used as a meeting spot for the elders, their gathering grounds. Outside of that, it’s also bigger than any village, probably the closest we’ll ever get to having our own Ponyville. Of course, it feels a little deserted most of the time. Yeah… it’s only ever busy when the elders convene since they hold meetings over several days.”

As plenty as this is to take in, the longma siblings are invigorated by this talk. Even with the daunting prospect ahead of them, this is where their plans will begin to take shape, working together with elder Ghilan and taking their first steps forward into an unknown, yet exciting future. Though their opinions on their fellow longma is still rather low, it is possible for them to come around and see things in a new light.

The siblings looked to each other and smiled, even looked a little giddy. Sen took one of Rosa’s hooves, firmly grasping and shaking it. “Thank you for telling us all of this. If it is all the same to you, Rosa, maybe we can introduce you to our village elder sometime after the court session.”

“Here’s to hoping all goes well at court.”

Also, I might add, it sometimes allow me to do a little day labor as a pest controller, whilst getting a meal at the same time. A rather fortunate experience when it happens.

Regardless, if you know of a place where I can find things before we leave, it would be most appreciated, and worry not, we will accompany you to see the gryphons."

"G-Gryphons?"

Brittle seemed to be increasingly scared as this race were mentioned as being ones they might soon run into.

"Like with many other races, it is important that you get to see that they are not all bad, Brittle. Vendor gryphons in mixed city populations are generally speaking quite a bit kinder than the ones in their own nesting areas or towns, as they have to be more open-minded to live among so many varied creatures and cultures. Yet if any of them tries anything, you know me. Would I ever let you be hurt?"

Brittle would blush slightly and shake her head as she looked towards the ground, feeling sort of embarrassed about things now. Briar couldn't see it, but her silence did tell him what he needed to understand from this.

"Worst case scenario, I will simply use Velvet here as an impromptu equine shield.

Hehe, I jest. Neither of you have anything to worry about. Things will work well, and it will be a learning experience regardless of how it goes. If you wish for us to leave and head there now, Velvet, we are ready for you."

"If harm were to come to her, then I'll do what I can to help tend to her injuries. But I doubt it will come to that. The worst the cities have is ponies being snooty, and that's usually just the celebrities. At least, from my experience."

Velvet smiled at Brittle. "Are there any particular treats you like? Even if you get most of your sustenance from love, a treat now and then might help make you happy." He said, offering to hold her hoof before they headed out. He knew he was still a stranger to her, but he was determined to display kindness and compassion towards her.

"I didn't know someone loved me." Ruby stated, obviously joking, though for anyone who hadn't spent time with her it could have sounded she was being serious. To her usual manner, she just nodded to confirm she had heard what Spicy had said, it was good to know there was other things than grass to eat, but she needed to figure out how to not get noticed before she would even think about eating anything ponies wouldn't eat.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nada had indeed figured that Berry belonged to the second category, but like previously she ignored her best to her ability, after all, Spicy was also the one who was first to help Nada, and in all truth, as far as she knew, Spicy was the new norm, sure she herself had said other ponies saw her as crazy, but still. Then there was also the point Nada had mentioned earlier, that being the fact that as far as she knew, she could be mad too, so who was she to judge. Nada just nodded as she had nothing to add.

"Incorrect."

The captain wandered around Thunder, not making a sound, and not looking all that impressed as she kept her gaze on him.

"You will address your superiors facing them, and keep your gaze on them until their business with you are done."

"Hey, ease up on the kid a bit, will you? He's not into the whole system yet."

"Then he should start to learn, because I will not be lenient, no matter who his sister is."

Spreading her wings, the captain flew off at high speed, yet somehow, still not making a sound as she went off. Likely how she had been able to sneak up on them as efficiently as she had.

"She's a bit... No, a whole lotta strict, but that's needed too honestly, and while she might seem like a great pain in the flank, her input's pretty valid. She didn't use to be a general for three years, and an officer for fifteen, for nothing. Also, she got a good point, you're gonna need to read up on these sorta things.

I gotta go deal with things, but ergh... I can't just let you wander 'round here on your own."

Looking around, she'd see another guard completely clad in armor and bandages, that made it impossible to determine much about how she looked, and let out a whistle to get her attention, then waved her towards them.

"General?"

"Shell Tooth, just the sight for sore eyes. Eeeh, poor choice of words actually. Sorry."

"It's okay ma'am."

"Ah, grand. Look, think you can be a peach here? I'm kinda busy, so would you mind getting Thunder here to Lieutenant Frizzle, and swing by the archives on the way so he can get a copy of the basic rule books?"

The mare would salute the general in response, and gave Thunder a short glance with the marine-blue eye not covered by bandages, before refocusing on her superior.

"You're a lifesaver sugar. Ah, and try telling 'im to give the kid a marker so we can get 'im here when the day's right, and a bit of a hoof surprising his parents. I figure the story will be fun later."

After saying that, Tidal would take off down the nearest path and run towards the office. Sooner she'd get work done, the better.

Back there though, the bandaged mare - seriously, even her mane were either bandaged or missing - looked back towards Thunder, with a curious glance in her exposed eye.

"The general must be seeing something special in you to go this far. Thunder, she said? I'm Shell Tooth. Sorry about the getup, but scared Plume Jellyfish tends to burn a lot. Doctors said I should be fine in a few days though, and the mane and tail grows back sooner or later.

Heh, guess I'm yapping off again... Anyway, are you ready to go?"

@EQ_Theta

"I'll help your elder, and if it goes well, I'll reach out to my contacts, and see if I can find out if any of them have heard mention of any dryads in recent times. I think I know where to look for an evergrown though, so that is of lesser concern. Heard some rumors a few weeks back of one situating himself in a garden, close to Manehattan. A sole individual it sounded like, which is rare, but not unheard off if my information is correct. Exiles seems to be a likely reason if it were this one weren't just a visitor, but once that settled down, and with how social those creatures are, I cannot imagine he or she copes well with loneliness, or the great world as a whole.

I mention this as if there is a village of them within the forests of your home, you will more than likely need an evergrown to find it. Barring anti-magic, or some highly specialized trackers, getting to a village without one is a complicated matter. At least I think so, seeing how I don't have reports of anyone making the trip through. Not anyone who made it back at least.

But one of their own, they would know what to look out for. Might be there is nothing, but the way you speak of your forests being essentially untouched by the untrained eye, I have my doubts. It is worth a check in any case, and if a village is founded, attempting to get this lone individual connected with this new tribe could be a good way to earn some favorable words for your kind, and open talks with said tribe."

There were a lot more layers in things that had to be done, in case he were given a green light to present a more tangible example to the longma tribe, such as an actual individual of one or both races, but there were something he could try to work with for a start at least. This did depend on whatever or not that being he had heard rumors off were indeed an evergrown, though it may well just be a strange gardener of some kind, often covered in leaves. It were not as unusual as you might think to run into individuals like that, but worst case scenario, he could see if he could find that one he had met some time back. Briar, he seemed to recall the name were. Another exile, yet one turned adventurer who enjoyed his freedom. A tougher sell towards a tribe, but it could be framed as a meeting, and him helping others that could both use some outside influence, and potentially give some broader viewpoints in case said potential tribe were one practicing servitude of their lesser kinds, like from the tribe Briar came from... Hmm, he'd have to think on this later. Better to be prepared and not need the work, than to need the work and not be prepared.

"When it comes to talking with your elder and making my points about why cooperation with outside influences were wise, I might need to gather a few things that he can present to the others. Perhaps if they can see the dangers that can arise from being isolationists, they will understand the need for at least minor allies, or trade agreements.

And no, I am not saying I will bring something actually dangerous. More to the point, it will be bits of story, some parts of weaponry, a few dragon scales, things such as that. Mere examples of potential dangers, without the danger itself. Unless you think it would be prudent to bring something more tangible, like a weapon that might be encountered? I could get hold of some simply enough, and have them wrapped up and presentable in a way that would not make me seem as if I come with an intent to wield them.

...Perhaps I should elaborate: Yes, I have several weapons of varied usages hidden throughout the lands. It's standard to keep some hidden and ready, in case something goes wrong, or if you need to plant evidence as part of the job. I haven't used any of them in a long time, so I don't know which ones are left, but I'd happily give those which are left to whoever could use them. For actual weaponry, or to make a point, it matters little to me."

@EcstaticWind

Brittle would stare at his hoof, but wouldn't accept it. Rather, she'd go over to where she usually stood when they were headed out: Left side of Briar, slightly behind the middle, where she'd be safe.

"I... I h-haven't tried m-much. But h-honey and o-oath works. A nice p-pony offered me a c-cookie with that o-once. It... It w-were nice..."

She weren't sure how to respond to this kind sort of way he acted towards her. To many times in her early memories things had been very different, and it left scars that understandably colored her impression of others, even if they looked as harmless as Velvet did. She were trying, but it wasn't easy to get past that, and at this point in time, she didn't feel confident enough about anyone, to go over to them and hold their hooves whilst going into a town. Except for Briar, but he had long since (and several times) proven that he wished her only the best, and he had gotten her away from the circus to begin with. She knew she could trust him.

"We are sure to find you something exquisite, and potentially some oddities for you to test at a later time? As for your former point, Velvet, I appreciate the concern, but in case anyone as much as attempts to harm Brittle, they will find that while I look like a docile equine -"

Like lightning from a clear sky, Briar's vine suddenly shot out as great speed out in front of Brittle, with the leathery, three petal pud at the tip turning towards Velvet and opening and shutting, showing that these did have some crunch power behind them. At the same time, Briar would go into a large smile, properly showing off the rows of razor-sharp teeth, and though his facial expression remained calm, it would look rather unnerving to put it mildly. Like a lion toying with its meal.

"- I am still an apex predator, and I will not take kindly to attempts at that kind of aggression."

Withdrawing his vine and reducing the size of his smile, Briar chuckled a little to himself and took a step towards the door.

"Now then, shall we?"

@Moonlit

Well then, with the glass placed like this she could take a sip. In fact, it'd almost be rude not to at this point, right? Yeppers, sounded about right. So she'd just lower her head a teensie bit, aaand... *slurp slurp*

Lapping some water into her muzzle as if she were a cat, the doctor rock, soon were back at her regular position again, and fulfilling her life work as a siren and filly pillow. Frankly if she had known this were a valid career option, she weren't all that sure that doctor would have been as easy a decision as it had been. She still loved being a doctor normally of course, but this were rather nice too, honestly.

She wondered how long they'd nap on her though. The tiny ones had slept not too long ago, but then again... They Did use a lot of energy right after eating a big feast... Hmmmm... This were tough to figure out.

"Love's a strong word, but I do like having you 'round for some reason. Like an ornery puppy."

She'd chuckle at this, but say nothing more as they went along, and soon enough would get to the entrance to the big casino. Wandering in and out, they'd see varied creatures at many a mood, though generally speaking, it seemed positive. Seemed like the owner knew how to make even losing seem like an event worth coming for. Well, for a good deal anyway. Some were still looking rather miffed, but that were to be expected. It Were a casino after all.

Surprisingly though, it seemed like one of them headed directly for them, with a rather large smile on his posh face. One they should both recognize, as it were after all, plastered on the side of said building.

"Ah, just the sprinkle of spice I've been longing for. What a delight to have you back again so soon."

The two of them exchanged a fromal greeting, with the mare lifting her hoof and him taking it in his and planting a slight kiss at the top of it, before Spicy retorted.

"Heya Diego. You look awfully happy today. The old bag finally had her last spin at the table?"

After letting go off her hoof, he would roll his eyes at this, and pretend to be slightly offended, yet it were a farce, and he barely tried to hide it.

"My mother are still quite well, thank you very much. But enough about her. I see you have company these days? Finally had enough waiting for me, hm?"

He'd turn towards Ruby and bow before her, hat off and everything.

"Delightful to meet you madame. I am Diego Pennyworth the Third, owner of this extravagant establishment. And who may you be?"

@Catpone Cerberus

Drinking a bit more of the coffee she had with her, Berry was dismayed to find that it had gotten cold in the time they'd been talking. A shame, it really weren't as good then in her opinion. Some liked it, but she'd frankly never understand that. Who could just... Enjoy cold coffee? Urgh, the thought alone...

But that were as it were. She had to swing by later and grind up some batches of the good stuff for the shelves later tonight way, so worst case scenario, she'd pick up something then. Something pumpkinny likely. Somehow, she were getting a craving for that.

"So, that's a whole lotta stuff we've covered so far. Then again, you've been out of the loop a loooot. Like, several species have literally come into existence in the time you've been away. That's sorta crazy to think about actually.

But that's all the past, right? And now we got a whole lotta future to look at ahead of you. Honestly it's sounding like this is gonna be fun, even if it does end up with things going Way bad, and us having to skip town. Though I'm thinking it have to go like, astronomically bad for that. You'd have to start eating the locals. Or their pets perhaps. Some of them would get real miffed about that.

...Well, except for the filly that have that Timberwolf pup. Pretty sure you wouldn't eat a pet made out of actual wood, so she's safe. I really have to show you that sometime though, it's pretty bizarre to see a wild animal like that get along so well as a house pet. Kind of. She still need to keep him on a leash outside because he tries to chase other pets, thinking they're food. Honestly I have no idea why her parents lets her keep it, the more I think about it.

...What were I on again? Oh right. Your future. looking bright, long as you don't go coo coo, but no worries, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for that. Been around a bundle of crazies in my days, but I can't say more than that here. Somepony might be listening in."

Thunder would gulp before nodding "Y-yes, sorry Captain" he would say. facing her then watching her fly away. It was then he returned his attention towards Tidal once more "I understand" is all he could say, he already felt like he was treading on thin ice but then Tidal would call over another guard over, and he would smile a little more and nod to Shell Tooth "Hello Shell Tooth" he would say "And it's okay, you're doing what you gotta do, and I don't imagine school of jellyfish stinging you would be fun" he would say, following, "I remember getting stung by one when I was little"

“A village within the forest… If the Evergrown have settled in our own forest and the longma find out about this, it wouldn’t turn out well. The longma have a very big aversion to magic and they will likely take drastic action to send any Evergrown away. I wouldn’t want that to happen.”

“Then we aren’t going to let that happen. We have to make sure that they’d be welcomed, that they’d be safe with us being neighbors. I think we’d have to be a mediator between both groups if this is all going to happen while representing the longma. An ambassador was what it’s called, if I am not mistaken. At the very least, we should try to befriend them.”

“You’re option for bringing items to elder Ghilan sounds good,” Sen said as he turned his attention to Rosa. “Having samples like the dragon scales would ease our elder in to knowing what we might encounter moving forward. Maybe a few small weapons as well but we’ll ensure he isn’t going to get jumpy when he sees them. He may be new to how politics works but he can handle himself, eager to learn as much as he can.”

Though Sen and Ghilan didn’t get off in the right hoof, the former giving the latter a scathing piece of his mind, having gone through one crisis together has certainly eased tensions. Ghilan having left his position in the village hunters to pursue a position of leadership and possessing an open, if not outspoken, mind and a willingness to understand unknown viewpoints already makes him the prime candidate to usher in this change to the longma communities at large. It probably might take some time as the only non-longma being he has ever encountered is Omen. The first meeting is expected to be an awkward one for certain.

“I believe we’ve got a rough idea on how this meeting will go. He might try to get you to go with him to the convocation, partly to help explain these ideas of expanding our horizons and meeting beings other than ourselves, and providing an example of how the longma can get along with different creatures. Just letting you know what to expect but I assure you, he won't force you to do it if you don't want to.”

@Blitz Boom It's only maybe an hour of napping, not too long before Harmony starts to nudge the foals awake, telling that 1)Rock need to be Zegasus again and 2)It was time for school. A Chorus of 'awwws' followed by the foals zipping off to grab their bags and school supplies. This leaves Ziggy with a still sleeping Serenade, who's rolled onto her back, dragging Ziggy on top.

Oh, pranks were not all that rare an occurrence in Rising's house hold.  They just had to take on a different venue than what one would expect from two unicorns siblings.  It was very difficult to perform magical pranks against a pony like Rising who could see magic.  Enchant a slice of cake to explode in his face?  Nope, he can see the tapestry.  Enchant the sink to spray water upwards?  Easy to dispel.  Setting Dawn had to get more creative as they grew up.  As did Rising who didn't have the magic to perform pranks beyond popping a spell Setting was trying to cast.  The true Prank Master, was their mother.  Who had far more experience in non-magical pranks.  Her small revenge in being the only non-unicorn in the family.

"I can vouch for that," the detective nodded, having experienced the rush of dark magic he wasn't prepared for in the swamp of Harrowmark.  Maybe being an Alicorn would help her a little better, or simply not being as sensitive to magic as Rising is.  He'd have to make sure to include the issue in his report since it sounds like a more common occurrence than the lone Equestrian detective.

Well, he wasn't going to be able to tough this one out and dodge his mistake of knocking over the Ever Water and getting himself soaked.  A humiliating appearance for the one they keep wanting to call their savor.  Could Minty just have used the same feather duster spell she used to clean Caramel?  Yes, yes she could.  Was she going to?  No, The Captain seemed far too amused by letting the younger Wisp tend to the detective.  Simply nodding her agreement to her wise advice in not wasting the pill by avoiding the illness to begin with.  His immune system was generally well enough to ward off such things, but who knows how different a cold from Harrowmark could be.

Minty gripped the offered heirloom with her magic, carefully handling the sickle as she examined it.  "We'll be sure to pass this along and have your mother ready for her return home," the larger mare assured Sickle as she added the item to join the others inside of Rising bag.  "With how long it would take to establish a portal, the first visit might be a long journey," Minty concluded.  "Or I suppose Princess Twilight could just ask me to arrive and teleport you three as needed," she chuckled, musing at the thought of easier travel.

The thought of having to return to Harrowmark at some point had crossed his mind.  As well as ending up a political pawn as the the two countries establish a hopefully lasting friendship.  This Queen he keeps hearing of is bound to request an audience and his foundation for refusal was likely non-existent.  The pressure from the Princesses and The Captain would be rather unpleasant.  Not that he wouldn't mind visiting Harrowmark of course and seeing the ponies he's met this day again would be nice.  Just the idea of visiting for diplomatic purposes wasn't as appealing.  Sigh, he needed this vacation.  On the bright side, pony watching in a new country could be fun if he visited the capitol.

Having the attention brought back to his choice of attire, he looked down at his wet and dirty hoodie.  "Guess I could have brought a spare," he admitted, even though he knew that isn't what she meant.  "Oh darling don't worry.  I wouldn't let him out of Equestria without the proper attire to meet a Queen," Minty interjected.  Oh joy.  "I will have the elegance of Manehatten cast upon this savor and order only the finest of suits from Rarity For You," she added.  Little by little his choices in this matter were slipping away.  He had a dress hoodie with a bow tie and everything!

@Rising Dusk

8 hours ago, Rising Dusk said:

 "Oh darling don't worry.  I wouldn't let him out of Equestria without the proper attire to meet a Queen," Minty interjected.  Oh joy.  "I will have the elegance of Manehatten cast upon this savor and order only the finest of suits from Rarity For You,"

"Excellent. If I meet her, I will make sure to let our queen know to keep her best sculptors at hoof for this, or at least pass it along with the high priestess. I simply Cannot wait to see how you will look in something that properly shows you off, our dear savior."

Caramel were well aware that a good deal of pressure were put on Rising, but with all due respect to the dear colt, she knew that he wouldn't go through with a proper look, unless he were feeling said pressure. And with what he had done for their country, she refused to simply let it be that he were immortalized in this attire, but cleaner. It worked for some others, as their deeds reflected this - such as the great spy Whispering Willow, who took pride in blending in among all manners of different groups, and used it to gain them many a favorable information in war times - but Rising were an outsider who had come to free them from 600 years of tyranny. It were a higher standard that should show him off in some degree of glory, and it warmed Caramel's heart to know that Minty were on it. She knew that the tall mare would not disappoint.

"...I like how you look in what you have, Rising. It suits you."

Sure it were dirty and a bit ruined right now, but still, Wisp could see how it might look if it were at the top, and she did think this looked more right to him than some of the more stuffy clothes she knew of. It just seemed wrong to have him in that, even though she understood why it would be important for his depiction. They just wanted him to look his best after all, though on a day to day basis, she'd agree more with him. What he had on, seemed comfy and practical, as well as just looking better on him, in her opinion.

She'd say more, but as tended to happen, Caramel took over the conversation again. Wisp sort wished she'd stop that for a bit, so she could have a bit more time speaking with Rising before his inevitable departure, but it weren't easy to stop the mare once she began. Hopefully next time they'd encounter one another, she'd be able to have some more alone time with him.

"It is Practical, I will concede to that point, but it does need some more... How should I say this... Pow. He should still look as if he is able to move after all, but it would just be such a dreadful turn of events if the queen saw one who had done what he did, without him looking like a million crowns. But we don't have to worry about that. Minty is clearly able to walk the delicate balance between functional and awe-inspiring, and I could think of no other being whom I'd rather have working on Rising's attire. Her capable mind are sure to find only the most befitting of him. Why, I'm sure you'll find yourself completely breathless when the time comes, Wisp.

That aside, it seems like everything is in order, and that all we can do for now then, is to wait. Though, I wouldn't be sure it would take long before we meet again, Minty. The portal mages of old in Harrowmark were efficient, and if their knowledge still lives, it will just be a matter of tracking the outside magic that have entered our homelands, back to its origins. And with how you have both used your impressive magical force, there have been plenty to pick from. Why, if I am not mistaken, the High Priestess send some to secure the traces from Twisted's old home. A battle like the one between Rising and Twisted must would have left quite a mark, if not a direct pathway of sorts.

Ah, the irony there would be in the home of one trying to keep us from the world, being the beginning of a new path. It almost makes my soul tingle with joy.

But I digress. Both of you, we will see you again hopefully sooner, rather than later. For now, I need to go tend to my baking. The younglings wouldn't enjoy it as much if their treats were burned. Take care, and may you stay where you fall."

Caramel would give them both a wave and a smile, before being on her way. No rest for the wicked, as they said. Though if either had something to say, she'd linger long enough to hear it. She didn't wish to come off as rude after all. She rather liked these ponies - especially Minty - and would prefer not to end on a bad footing with either of them.

@EQ_Theta

"I wouldn't recommend fighting the Evergrown. They're usually physically strong, and even though they have varied degrees of magic - akin in some way to the varied sub species of ponies - even the more brutish of them does have magic, and if you combine that with physical strength, and added benefits such as vines usable for attacks, it can start to become an ugly affair. It would be far wiser to try and meet with a semi-open mind on both sides, and then try to mediate between your groups. I can help with that as best I now can, yet if one is brought in from the outside, they will likely need to be part of it too.

Again though, this is only If there is a tribe in the forests around your home. I may find it likely, but there is no guarantee. They sprout where their magical trees spawn, and if one have never been in this forest, then you won't find them either."

Strange creatures really, who grew from trees like fruits. But seeing how this were a thing, it made sense that they wouldn't migrate, but rather seek out/spawn around their mother trees. It gave them a connection with nature, and they apparently needed it to procreate. Something about growing from them, though the mechanisms and process involved were not something he were too aware of. He just knew it included planting a seed from the parents into the tree, and then something would happen that would make an Evergrown bloom. He really should get this hole in his knowledge sorted one of these days. Might be important when it came to the political aspects that would arise if the two sides met.

"In any case, soon as we are done with what you wished to do, we can look into collecting some of the items I have stored in Equestria. Things from the outside will have to wait until after the trial, and some of the mentioned items I believe will be important. Among them a scale from a Fahrenheit Fields dragon. They are different from you may run into in Equestria in several ways, but it isn't all that important to explain how currently.

As for your elder's potential wish for me to join in as he approach the others, I can come along if it is. My penance requires a lot of creatures helped, and in this situation, I get the distinct feeling that I'm going to be needed to set examples and counter arguments that your own elder simply wouldn't know about, due to his sheltered existence.

In a way I envy him this limited perspective, but if the time is ripe to open the world to you, then yes, I can come along to speak of the merits, as well as the dangers, that this far reaching world have to offer, and why it would be beneficial for the secrecy and isolation to end. At least to some degree.

Now then, what is the first order of business today?"

@Etched Daydream

"Not a school, this was just one. Just imagining what a full school of them could do..."

Shell shivered. The mere thought were terrifying.

"A Plume Jellyfish is the size of an alicorn, with six meter long tentacles that have a nasty toxin in it that burns whatever they're roping up while hunting or frightened, and thankfully floats alone. A few times some of them float into the bay, and this one had gotten close to a junior swimming class. There weren't time to get more help, so I roped myself up, jumped in, and hit it straight on. The tentacles got me wrapped up and burned me real good, but they were able to drag me back in by the rope, and the class had time to evacuate while the others got the thing out of the bay and got me slathered in some anti-venom and whatnot.

The Captain herself were there when I woke up, and told me she'd set me up for a medal, soon as I'd gotten healed up properly. The general even set me up for a commendation, and were really impressed when I came back to work like this."

She beamed, with a big, joyful grin on her face. It were a pretty big deal to her to be given the honors she were set up for, simply for doing what were right. Made her sure she had gotten into the right profession, even if she were lucky to not be disfigured with scars and such. If she hadn't gotten the rope on her, there were a good chance she could've even been dragged into the sea and never seen again, but hey, thankfully everything would be okay again, even if she sorta missed her long mane. Being bald felt weird.

"But you know, I can't just lay about when the doctors says I'm alright to work, long as I keep out of the water, so patrol duty for now. Anyway, come on, tell me what you did for the general herself to draw you in? She sure seems to be interested in you for some reason at least. And just, y'know tell me some more stuff about you. Like, are you from inland? is it true they have wolves made of wood there? Did you fight one?"

She kept on walking towards a currently unknown destination as she spoke.

It were good the fillies weren't there for longer, as Ziggy had started to go a little erratic 45 minutes in, with her having to shake a free leg, twitch her wing, or whatever else she could do that didn't disturb things too much, to get the excess energy out of her system. Se weren't used to sitting still this much, this early in the day. Not unless she got no sleep, and she had a pretty good nap after last night, so no dice there.

When they finally got off and started to go away and get ready for school, Ziggy would enthusiastically wave at all of them as they left, with a big smile on her face, then try to wriggle free of Serena'des grip afterwards. If she succeeded, she'd go into the air and zoom about in her jagged flight pattern for a few minutes to get the worst out of her system. If Serenade weren't letting go though, the random flailing and attempts at getting free would also burn energy, so... Win-win?

Magical trees? That was a rather coincidental curveball that got the Lin and Sen to freeze up and look to each other, unsure about what the implications. Their sanctuary was about as average as it could get, a grove with a stream running through it and a sole tree. Now either a tree could naturally grow in such a place that was thought to be hidden past a stone tunnel or something might have carried its seed inward. It’s a stretch but something told the siblings to return to their little sanctuary and observe the tree for further study despite nothing ever suggesting it could be a magic tree.

Then again, a single tree housing a whole tribe over Evergrown? Unlikely story for certain. Possibly an outlier but if the Evergrown would be living together as a tribe, it would probably take more trees to accommodate their numbers. Of course, Sen and Lin have never seen one so it isn’t for them to judge what is and isn’t possible.

The two decided to downplay their little freakout as simply being unsure what to do next. While it is true, they wouldn’t want to burden Rosa with their uncertainty regarding the matter of the Evergrown until they are sure they aren’t overthinking.

“You know, I’m not in a rush to go back to Amethyst’s shop just yet. It is rather early and Amethyst won’t be in her shop until later. Maybe we could collect those items you stored away to pass the time.”

“I suppose that means I’ll be staying here again to look after Shrimp.”

“Or I can take over for today and you can go with Rosa. Maybe Omen could also tag along with you in case you need a quick trip back. Rosa? Omen? Sound good to you?”

ugh...politeness, one of the pony things that made Ruby want to groan and roll her eyes, it was always either fake or just..pathetic, but this time she didn't groan, or roll her eyes, she had act to keep together after all. "Ruby Shine, Spicy's business partner." her tone was rather formal, which considering her usual manner could be seen as quite friendly "Early apologizes for lowering the room temperature with my presence." latter comment of course wasn't meant literally, and she hoped the stallion was smart enough to understand her meaning..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nada just blinked when Berry got lost in her train of thought, it was slightly amusing, even though she didn't really like Berry even considering the situation where Nada would eat ponies, and it was actually interesting that somepony had timberwolf as a pet, it also was positive since even predators deserved love. "Maybe it's better that way, I'm not sure if I would even want to hear about the crazy ones before i have gotten used to the sane ones." she commented, not coming up with anything else to say.

"I consider it a good equalizer then. Though your presence alone wouldn't happen to mean..."

Diego sent a glance towards Spicy after he turned Ruby's somewhat cold comment into a compliment for the gambling mare, looking for an answer to a question hanging in the air.

"Nah, he's still around. He's just at home... I dunno, preening himself I guess. You know how he gets about his looks."

This seemed to ease Diego up greatly, as he did like the griffon, and would have missed him, were he to have been replaced.

"I just had to be sure. Without him or your wagon present though, I take it you are not here to gamble today, no? Here to sample our fine buffet? Enjoy what the bar have to offer a thirsty soul? A social visit perhaps?"

"Yeah, because I'd come 'round here just to visit after your mom had a wack at me last time. We're here because this have been a great start on a working relationship, and I'm in the mood for a party."

This made Diego wrinkle his nose, and show visible concern.

"Could I perhaps offer a room to minimize the damages?"

"The Bunker? Sure, that's a fun place."

"If you will excuse me then, I need to prepare things."

With him wandering back in, Spicy were left to chuckle a little to herself.

"Heh, today's gonna be fun."

@Catpone Cerberus

"You should probably stay away from the crazies anyway. Some of them can get pretty dangerous."

Berry could tell from personal experiences, after the time when she had wrongfully been thrown into the loonie bin. Thank Celestia she had managed to escape that place, and gods be willing, she'd never return there again. It was no place for sane ponies, like her, and The Conspiracy knew that. That's why they sent her there to make sure she got punished for telling the truth to the masses. Hence why she were less outspoken about it now. Until she'd have something that could take them down that were. When that day came, they should've left her alone.

"Did it ever get dangerous at the lake? Like, did an Ursa Major come around and get ornery or something? Those things are huuuge. They'd be able to make a real mess if they got in a foul mood."

@EQ_Theta

Rosa didn't respond at first, but merely looked at Sen and Lin as something seemed to be off about them. This had slipped him some other times, when he were tired or beaten up quite a lot, but he were refreshed and lucid this time, and had bitten notice in how they behaved normally. It helped him to pick out when something were off.

"Full disclosure, I've been trained in noticing when something is amiss, and you two are definitely uncertain about something.

If your concern is about the tree being magical, then far as I know, it is nothing invasive or dangerous. It's just a singular tree, which functions as their connection to nature, and the thing they need to procreate. The tribe build around it and protects it with their lives, but it is not doing anything actively, far as I have been told. It just grows somewhere, seemingly randomly and without warning, and in time a tribe arrives to build their settlement around it. Or a new one grows without supervision. The Evergrown are very reluctant to say much about their trees."

He could only guess, but this had come up around the time he started to speak about this aspect, so it were likely. Nothing were certain of course, and he wasn't a shrink, so he couldn't tell as easily. His training on the matter were more to just pick up on small clues in how to respond if he were infiltrating somewhere, and otherwise bite note in how others behaved around him to see if he should be concerned about his cover being blown. A small tick in an otherwise normal behavioral pattern tended to mean that something were amiss, and though it were not always including him, it were still for the better to pick up on it, and try to ascertain whatever or not it were a good time to leave.

"As for the plans, if you wish for this to be over with first, then yes, I would suggest to bring Omen. She sounds like she have been many places, and we have to go to a few to gather things up.

Let us try an easy one: Omen, have you ever been in Appleloosa? Rather dusty city where the ponies tends to wear hats such as this."

Rosa would scribble a cowboy hat into the sand, and get quite a bit of way before Omen slowly nodded in response.

"Good then, soon as everyone's ready, we can start there. I'd suggest to braze yourself for stares though, Sen. They're not used to seeing more exotic races, such as a Longma."

Omen would start to work on a gate as he spoke, but the speed at which they'd get a move on, would depend on Sen. Rosa saw no reason to rush it, nor force him into this, in case he did not want to go. Perhaps something he should just explain, now that he were thinking about it.

"You know you don't have to come, if you don't want to, right? Omen and I can handle this on our own well enough, and be back in a few hours more than likely, so you two could have some time away from all the strangeness for a time. Might be a good time to catch up, or just rest more, if you were to follow Shrimp's example."

@Moonlit

While Ziggy zoomed around trying to get some excess energy out of her system, Harmony would find that Fah'lina had actually not done a whole lot. As per the agreement, she weren't allowed to cause trouble or the food would stop, and breakfast had been good enough to make her feel sated for the time being, so she had just gone off on her own and started to look around the house to see what sort of place this were.

The mimic would be nice though. The drawers she looked into were still a little open, as she moved along wanting to make use of the time properly, but she wouldn't rummage too badly, and things she did move would be put back as she had found them, including edible objects- Though she did make note of where they were, just in case she were cut off from the food and had to scrounge for snacks.

When she opened drawers with clothes, she'd just shut them and be on her way again. It had been fun poking around such things the first week or two she had been in Pony society, but the novelty were wearing off, and it didn't seem worth it to risk it. Unless she found something made of silk, as she'd then rub her face against it before moving on. She liked the softness of that fabric.

Harmony would be able to currently find her upstairs, tail wrapped around a drawer that she were hanging upside down from, holding a foal's toy in her paws and twirling it around to get a better look at the strange object, as well as having a sniff now and again. Something about the smell seemed strange out of place to her, but she weren't entirely sure what it were yet.

At the sight of Harmony, she'd stop the twirling, and look at the mare, before chittering to her in what were essentially a *hello*. She'd wave too, as ponies seemed to get that easier, but she had something in her paws that she did not want to drop and destroy, as she didn't want to be cut off.

@Critical-Hit

"From what I know, that shouldn't be enough... Hehe, oh well, I guess we'll see in time.

And I heard about Cloudsdale. It's supposed to be really pretty, and where a lot of weather comes from. Is it true that only pegasi could walk on the clouds, before the unicorns made some sort of spell that'd allow others to do it too, so they could go visit the sky cities? Some of the other guards have told me that Las Pegasus works like that to bring in tourists.

I'm not really sure what's real about all the stories though. I were born and raised at the ocean, and never had a reason to leave, so I just hear stories and rumors from the others.

Hey, perhaps we can exchange stories here? I know lots about the ocean and beach areas, and if you're from inland, i bet you don't know all that much about it, right? Like all the dangerous creatures, mythologies, what to do if a siren starts roaming the nearby area, and tourists traps. Literally. Some pranksters actually leave traps for the tourists during high season in the summer. Not like bear traps of course, that's be crazy. Just... Smoke traps, or stuff that gives an illusion. Foal stuff, y'know? So I could tell you lots of those things, and you could inform me of all kinds of fun things from inland."

As this went on, they'd be getting deeper into the base, with several guards starting to pass them now and again, giving the two of them a wave or a nod now and again. Mostly towards Shell, but in fairness, they didn't know Thunder yet, and he didn't stand out as much as the cheerful mummy of a mare that were talking around him. They'd see once word spread that the general herself had led him around. Might start to aim some curious eyes towards him then.

@Blitz Boom Harmony would wave back, and smile at the mimic with the foal's toy, then head to find her Husband....just as a loud BANG caused the whole house to rock and smoke poured from the basement. Serenade bolted upright, followed by a panic look around. Harmony rolls her eyes, and trots downstairs just as he shouts. "SORRY, MY BAD, WAS DOING SCIENCE!"

Thunder would chuckle a little as he would listen to the enthusiastic Shell Tooth, and nod. Once he could get a word in, he'd smile "Well yes, you are right, until recently, places like Cloudsdale were, well not off limits to other races, just unreachable" he would smile "I actually remember when Fluttershy came with her friends to watch and support Rainbow at the Best Young Flyer Contest" he'd chuckle "Ooh boy, that was a disaster" he'd laugh a little and roll his eyes "As for what you'd have to tell me, I'm all ears" he would say with a chuckle, continuing to follow her.

 Jolting upright at the mention, Widdershins gets up to slither playfully up to Cerberus. (I forget if Cerbie was sitting on his tail at last account, but that's still a good distance for Widdy to slither all the same.)

Well now! The first two I can easily account for and I daresay I have my theories on the major latter! If you'd like to hear them!??! I fair consider myself an expert on magical matters, If I do so say myself! And I am!

 You get hit by all the spells in the book, you tend to memorize their results a lot better!

 Why, I could practically call myself the Aspect of Magic! But that would probably require legal paperwork on what realms' jurisdiction, but I do digress! Shall I elaborate?!!?

 Widdershins stated in the bagging tones of almost every member of specialized knowledge does when cloying for attention while readying an implied warning that such information-giving will happen regardless of protest.

 Puffing his narrow chest out in pride once more, Kaltrop begins his speech.

 "You know the old saying! 'Don't doubt a dragon!' I had to live on my own quite quickly! Dragons don't help each other out like how you little ponies just pile into little lovefests all day!

 Why, I have soared through the skies with eagles and hawks!... and whatever other birds were in the area. Deftly snatching fish & other prey from the air like the natural skyborne predators have done since time begun!

 ...and when that was scarce... Well, most travelling salesponies will balk and offer you anything if it means their carts aren't set on fire or ripped by my manly claws! There's very likely my face gracing wanted posters in some small, pitiful, forgotten horse hamlet out in the country!"

 The young drakling buffs his claws, unintentionally, but clearly trying to impress the mare in his own way by self-promoting. Which tends to be a trend in most dragon socializing.

The concept of be sculpted in stone coming up again was rather disheartening.  While he couldn't, he'd have preferred the idea had fluttered away from their minds by now.  Stain glass window or painting wasn't enough?  The thought of a large statue of himself in some city square that birds like to hang out on just wasn't his style.  Plus, how long would he have to stand while a sculptor chiseled away his likeness into a hard substance.  Especially a likeness in which he is wearing something not of his style.  Not that doing with in a hoodie makes the idea all that much more pleasing. Ugh, so many questions to have to think about.

At least one pony here was on his side and could appreciate the value in the practicality of his choice in attire.  A thankful nod in the other unicorn's direction.  He knew he didn't look his best right now, but the swamp was easy to blame for that.  Not really expecting to have his showdown with the dark wizard in a swamp didn't leave the detective all the prepared to pack a spare hoodie in his saddle bag.  Slightly more interested in assuring his bag was well equipped with any trinkets that could be used to help offset is his lack of a spell list.

Caramel's comment wasn't... wrong.  Rising did lack, how did she put it?  Pow?  But that was part of the idea.  It's much easier to perform investigations when a pony doesn't stand out in a crowd.  The hood helped in snow or rain and kept him warm.  The pouch was hoofie to have to keep more important items available when he didn't want to dig around his bag for it.  Such as his O.M.I. badge or hoof cuffs.  It would make a great place for his officer's notepad and quill, but well, he doesn't need such a thing to remember.  The pegasus might have missed the mark on her comment about Minty though.  Awe-inspiring, yes, functional, yeah now.  That dress had no pockets and even though she wasn't likely to admit it, those gold shoes would likely make her hoofs hurt after a while.  At least it were lucky that Minty herself would not be dressing the detective, but an expert.  His only hurdle would be convincing the designer that he favored comfort, but after hearing what the outfit would be for... He'd likely lose that battle to design in the hope to give a better representation to Equestria.  Why didn't the O.M.I. have a dress uniform like the other law enforcement agencies?  Sigh...

"The hospitality of your town and care taking of our weary detective can not be more appreciated darling.  It was an absolute pleasure to meet you dear Caramel, and I hope to see you again soon," Minty expressed and bowed her head low in the most elegant manner.  Less so elegant, the detective waved his farewell to the pegasus as she walked away, "Thank you, and farewell."  Raising her head, The Captain turned her attention to Sickle, "Hopefully soon we can bring your mother home and begin the mending process."  Rising nodded in head in Sickle's direction, "Thank you."  Moving to the other side of Rising, she addressed Wisp, "And you sweet Wisp, your care to our detective can not be overstated and I thank you," giving the young unicorn another gesture of her bow.  "Thank you Ms. Wisp, for everything.  Please visit Equestria anytime," he smiled and bowed his head in kind.  They could see him as their savior all they wanted, but at the end of the day, Rising would likely still be a passed out mess laying somewhere in the swamp if not taken care of so well.  "Please pass along my thanks to Thistle for all her help.  Hopefully when next I visit she'll be a little less put off," Rising expressed as he raised his head.  Not all that sure the specter pony would pay him a last visit before his departure.

KARMIC FATE

"Um, uh, everything, everything is fine," Atzy replied in a high-pitched tone, all bravado and confidence having fled from her voice. "Everything is ... fine. I just, um ... Karmic? Help?"

"What?" Karmic answered out loud in confusion before she shook her head. She put a hoof to it as she suffered a migraine and took in deep breaths. "Seeing those Changelings walk around terrifies Atzy," she said slowly and took a couple of steps forward. She then turned and looked up at Enzo. Her eyes, no longer looking pure white, now had edges of green to her sclera. "She's not willing to come out but the filly Atzy was following went down this way," she then pointed to the tunnel behind her, looking like the middle one of the many paths branching off from the current one they were in. "We should mark this tunnel so we know how to get back out."

AURORA LIGHTS

"Um ... I ... I don't look like one of you," Aurora said nervously, not even noticing the Changeling nymph in Happy's arms. She pawed at the ground before demurely looking back the way they came out of fear. "You know I don't. H-How are they going to react to m-me? M-M-Maybe I sh-should stay as a griffin and just, uh, wait out here?"

TWILIGHT SPARKLE

The Alicorn nodded her head at Cherish's words and regarded Last in the same friendly light she attempted to give all ponies. "While I know it will take some getting used to how, urm, intense you are, I believe I wouldn't trade you for any other guard. You've already done so much to help, it would be an honour for you to help out even more. Serving, um, under me as you put it, and I don't think Princess Luna would mind if she saw you as my main guard ... pony." She then breathed out with a nervous expression and added, "that sounded a lot better in my head."

@Widdershins

DAWN STREAK

"No, I don't know the old saying," Dawn said in a deadpan, merely staring at the drake blankly. His other words, however, did resonate with her a bit so she spoke her next few sentences in a quiet but firm voice. "I've also had to live on my own, you know. Ponies normally don't just up and leave a filly in a house on their own one day. Bad and abusive parents do, but normal ones don't. That happened to me. From a young age. I'm not a normal pony in that respect, having lived a happy sweet and sugar filled life. I've had to work hard to get to where I am, which is most likely something you wouldn't understand."

“The tree… it’s not that we’re worried about it being magical but…”

Lin paused for a moment and looked to Sen. Broaching a topic like this to somepony outside of a system of trust they’ve build over the nature of their little sanctuary was tough. Sen wanted it to be kept a secret and only he, Lin, Omen, and Shrimp knew of the place. At the same time, they’ve put their trust in Rosa and there hasn’t been any reason for them to doubt their choice. In a way, they put their trust on a companion who, despite having an unsavory past, is one of the only friends they have outside of the longma. Sen didn’t say a word but looked on and after a while, nodded in affirmation.

“There’s this tree secluded from the rest of the forest,” Lin continued. “Something about it was different. A calming presence that we don’t feel anywhere else. Nothing about it looked out of the ordinary but whenever Sen and I were nearby, we’re rejuvenated.”

“It’s a place we’d go to be alone when things are getting tough, to think things through, and we’d leave feeling we could face our problems with confidence. You could say it was our little sanctuary and Lin and I made sure to never reveal its location out of fear some harm may come to it. Now that you mentioned the Evergrown, we think we might have been trespassing on someone else’s property for years.”

They could’ve kept silent, and in a sense, they wished they did. They could’ve kept all this to themselves but it might have been hypocritical to put their trust in someone with information that was somewhat sensitive. Still, it was a chance to speak, to probably give context and there was no point hiding this to someone who picked up on their uncertainty.

“Let’s not let word of this get out for now, at least. Omen knew about it and now you do as well. We don’t know if that lone tree belongs to the Evergrown but there you have it. But onto today’s order of business, I can go with you to Appleloosa. I think I need go out after being cooped up in this cave for almost a day. I wouldn’t mind the stares; I’m used to it and I think it’s amusing.”

Whenever everyone was ready, Sen was prepared to go. Not much in the way of supplies was needed as they could get back quickly if the group forgot something.

Ruby blinked, she was now getting curious, she had figured the earlier comments about getting arrested and such were just joking around, but if there really was something behind them and what she had just witnessed, maybe this day actually would be entertaining. "So are you just business partners or have you met in different circumstances?" Ruby asked, she wanted to know how close the two were to figure out any possible risks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Not really." Nada answered nonchalantly "Sure there was plenty of dangerous beings that visited the lake, but I didn't bother them so they didn't bother me, many of them also feared me, probably because the expected abilities of my kind." "Predators started coming less after the lake started to run out of fish."

"Go ahead." Cerberus simply replied, sitting down expecting a long explanation, one of the cats started playing with his tail. "I'm always ready to learn something new, even if I may already know it without knowing it." Weird thing his knowledge was, there was times when he knew he had said something he wasn't supposed to know but didn't know what he had known.

"Sorta both. Business wise, the big turnover were when he started wanting to host a big poker tournament and reached out to all of the big names. Ain't easy to get something going without top billing, and he weren't getting a whole lot of responses, despite the venue being real good. Folks were still thinking he couldn't do as well as his old man back then, so there were a whole lotta skepticism. But, I'd known him for a while and figured he might be able to pull it off, so I went in and went in and announced I were going, and looking for a challenge. I'd won enough state tournaments to make a name for myself even then, so once I signed in and asked others to bring it, we started getting a few heavy weights in.

Sure I lost, but third place were pretty good considering the competition, and the event were an incredible success. Made him cement himself as somepony worth his salt overnight. He's been extra happy to see me coming 'round every time I pass through since then, and I show up for all his big events. Ain't nothing keeping me from this place when I hear the news.

But y'know, I grew up here locally, and had my run ins with 'im when we were small. We've been goofing around now 'n again growing up, but that basket case of a momma he got, ain't keen on him associating himself with a normie that had a knack for cards and making deals. She used harsher words, but I wouldn't want to disturb your sensible tastes. Hehe.

I figure once the old bag gets a one way ticket to six foot under, Diego might come 'round, asking some personal things. I can see it in his eyes whenever we're meeting up, that he's burning for it, but long as his momma still holds the majority share in the casino - because of course his dad couldn't have left it to somepony reasonable instead - he's leashed.

Fun fact: He's been the one calling the cops on me every time he noticed I were getting hammered and about town, because then he'd be able to minimize the charges a bit, rather than me getting several cases of public disturbances, looting, or arson on me. Awh man, the parties I've had in my days... Good times."

She would've talked a bit off the path to the casino in front of them, so she could answer without a whole lotta ears listening in. Mainly tourists. The locals knew well the sorta things that went on with Diego and her back in the day, and how Spicy got when she began overindulging herself at the bar. Tourists though? They should mind their own, darn business.

"That's good at least. Less that wanna harm you, the better."

Seems like the cleaning up after her and Nada's lunch were more or less done now, and the talking sounded like they were running low on topics, so... What now? Berry weren't sure honestly, as she had flipped all the subjects she could remember she had in mind for now, and with since they weren't gonna be able to just go out and mingle with others currently, she were low on ideas on what they could do too. A shame she couldn't go get her evidence and present that to Nada. That should prove a very valuable use of their time, but sadly, taking it outside were too big of a risk.

"So... What now? Sorta running low on topics and ideas. Muffins too. I should bring a bigger box next time."

Omen would have the gate opened, had wandered through, and found an opening near Appleoosa in the time Sen and Lin had explained themselves. Rosa at the same time, had just stood and listened in to what they had to say, and processing it as they went along. It sounded like a pickle alright, and considering what had been explained so far, he could understand that they would think this to be a potential problem. Which it might be eventually, yet for now, perhaps he could ease their minds about their past and present usage of this sanctuary they mentioned.

"Before we leave, I want to try and calm you two a little. Whilst yes, the tree you mention may well be one of the Evergrown's mother trees, they have not settled down at it, or you wouldn't have stood here now.

Of the varied bits and pieces of information I have of their kind, it always stands out more than anything, that they guard their sacred tree fiercely, and won't just let it be easily accessible by outsiders. Had a tribe sought out the one you mention, the first time they had seen you, they would have retaliated immediately.

If, hypothetically, one had arrived though, whose role it were to tend to the plant until it were ready for a tribe to seek it out, I would think that were more of a blessing than a curse for you, as clearly, your presence would not be unwanted. Potentially because - I assume - you have treated the tree and the area around it with respect, which would give a first hoof impression between your races, even if you were unaware of it.

That being said, I find it highly unlikely that anyone is there if you have found no proof of that yet, and there is no assurance that this tree is magical in the way the evergrown seek anyway. While uncommon, there are varied sorts of magical trees. A few of which I know give off a calming presence. Perhaps I can bring a book on tree sorts at some point, and you can look through it and see if you can recognize it between the ones pictured? It may at least give you some answers."

With that said, Rosa would begin to wander through the gates set up by Omen, and would soon enough find himself stepping out behind a barn, obscuring them from view of others. A fortunate turn of events, as he had half expected them to get in through the middle of town, or in someone's private chambers, as Omen could seemingly only made gates to where she had been before, and he would not be surprised if in the time that had elapsed since she were last here, the landscape of the town had changed some. Even Dodge Junction, which had a tendency to change at a snail's pace, far as he recalled. He honestly barely read up on this place, as he were just using it as a hideout. They had no secrets worth chasing. Far as he were aware anyway.

Due to her large, sensitive ears, Fah'lina heard that explosion quite well, and nearly jumped out of her good fur when she heard it. Flailing to the ground and instinctively swooping in under a desk, leaving the toy on the ground. She had a similar reaction whenever DJ-PON3 started making noise  out in the streets in Ponyville. Ziggy had to lure her out for a half hour the first time when that surprise noise had assaulted the mimic's ears, and Fah'lina had refused to go outside for two days afterwards.

And speaking of Ziggy, she'd come rushing by, speeding past Harmony in a blur and towards the basement, not slowing down until the stallion had yelled out that he were just sciencing things up down there. That'd make her slow down to regular pony speed, but she were still going towards the basement room regardless, with a big, worried expression going over her face. He might say he were fine after that, but this were a large explosion. Those things could be very dangerous, and as a doctor, she couldn't just sit by when somepony might be hurt.

Unless stopped, she'd brave the smoke and soon enough should find herself down there, where if the door were still on it's hinges, she would try to open it, to get to what might be a confused, injured patient.

"Nuh-uh, I just told you some stories, it's Your turn now."

He were trying to be tricky it seemed, but that wouldn't work on her. She wanted to know things, and not just let this be a one sided deal.

"Something with Fluttershy, maybe? I've heard about her. An Element of... Blindness? No wait, kindness? Yeah, that sounds right. How'd you know her? Is it true she hoards animals and use them as an army in battle?"

Tales about the element wearers around here were pretty exaggerated. Came from none of them ever showing up personally to this place - despite Princess Twilight having gotten several invitations to appear as special events, such as the yearly General's Challenge, so far - and the Coastal Guard having somewhat minimal interaction with the regular city guards, so most were word of mouth, and those stories then got embezzled, twisted, glorified, etc.  Thunder should just know the stories they had about Applejack in the area, before an Apple branch member came through and assured them that no, Applejack could not do things like turning griffons into apples.

Honestly, very few believed in the stories anymore, as they were so fantastical, but it didn't mean that it weren't entertaining to think on them.

Enzo were quiet as the transition happened, and Karmic took over. It seemed that the sight of her own kin terrified Atzy? A peculiar development, but it might have some answer if they followed the visions further in, and with Karmic in control, she  would likely guide them better. She were more used to the visions, and seemed not to fear these fragments of the past, like Atzy did.

As she pointed down the path behind her though, Enzo would get in closer and slowly lift Karmic's chin with the blunt side of one of his claws, so he could get a better look at her eyes. Something peculiar had caught his attention, and getting a better angle, just confirmed that it were not just a weird flicker of the light, playing with his imagination.

"...We should see what lies down the path then. We might learn something important."

Though his voice did not show it, his eyes betrayed a short worry as he saw how the changeling influence were having an effect on Karmic, once again. The sooner that the two would get separated the better, and for that, they should finish in here as soon as they could. So he went over, and scratched a large, clear mark over the stones with his claws, in the direction that Karmic had indicated, as well as plaster a parchment unto the wall, beneath it. There should be enough signs to go by now, without him having to go towards more... Feral and unseemly methods to mark the path.

"Peh, you look more like them than some others, you'll be fine. 'Sides, you're gonna need to face off against a hive sooner or later. Might as well be the good one."

"Fwuffy lahdy have ah shaahp muhzle."

The nymph looked at Aurora from her position atop Happy's neck. Feeling more secure now, as she were with someone big who looked like her own kind, she were getting curious about things, such as the way Aurora looked. Her big, curious eyes looked over the griffon, as she let out a piece of her non-judgmental mind. Though her fangs were making it a little hard for her to speak fluently at this early stage of her life, it should still be fairly easy to understand what she were talking about. Happy certainly did, as he let out a laugh at her comment.

"That's called a beak, sugar, and what Aurora here is looking like, is called a griffon. When you get older and have a chance to see Equestria a bit better, I'm sure you're gonna see several of them, and other creatures too. Some of them are really big."

"Lihke Thoras?"

"Waaaay bigger than him. Much taller than any tree here, with big, strong wings and tough scales."

The *Ooo* sound that came from the nymph seemed to indicate that he had hit a cord with her, and he grinned from ear to ear as he went on back to the wagon, and strapped himself in, all whilst making sure the little one remained safe and snugly on his neck fluff.

"Good thing we ran into this little champ, don't ya think so, Aurora? Poor thing could've gotten hurt all by her lonesome."

When the time is right, we will need to have a talk about creating a proper guard regiment. The country needs its royals protected, and Ponyville could use trained fighters, the next time a monster attacks. I've watched closely when the construction work went on, and seen some promise here and there. At your command, I could give them the offer, and then train whoever would sign up."

What she did not say were that the training regiment she had in mind were rather grueling, and edging towards being downright cruel, but where she came from, slow training and taking things slowly weren't an option. It were harsh, brutal, and your exam often came down to whatever or not you survived your first raid. This place were less hostile than that, but she could still make a trial by fire, both literally and metaphorically.

On the bright side, those who would manage to make it through her training regiment, would be ready for battle in a matter of weeks, though she had the distinct feeling that of those she saw promise in, only half or so would make it. Though she considered it wiser to set her expectations low, and even then, half would be pretty great. But as mentioned, those were the ones she saw promise in. Others would likely try too, and those? One in twenty might make it.  Maybe less.

Were it up to her, Princess Twilight would have a fully functional guard regiment and a proper internal structure within a year, and then the princess and whoever she'd have lead said guard, would have to talk to the Night, Solar, and Coastal guards about representation. She would've included the Crystal Guard, but she'd heard they stayed out of the Equestrian's guards businesses, and just kept to their own areas, except in cases where their royals had to go somewhere and needed a guard escort.

As for leadership... Twilight might now say that Last were her main guard, but that were not the same as being a higher ranking officer, such as a captain or general. It were more akin to her personal escort, which were a high honor too, of course, and one she'd be happy about. Were there to ever be established a proper guard however, Twilight would have to decide on a leader, and then said leader would sort ranks as appropriate beneath them, as part of the structural build of the guard. One of those Last had looked at as a sign up, she'd rank at a lieutenant or sergeant at a bare minimum.

That bat pony who had moved here, and already had guard experience under his belt. Experience were one thing, but he had shown to lead well, as she had put him in charge of certain parts of the reconstruction, and he had done so flawlessly, and not rested until his shift were done, and he had made sure everything were secure. He would be a strong candidate, if he could be convinced to change guard, though Last expected it might be possible, since he had moved here with his daughter. Being part of the local guard, would mean that he wouldn't have to move again, and that surely had to count for something. That were an argument she'd use at least. They'd see how everything would turn out, when some day, Princess Twilight would give her blessings to this process being started.

@Rising Dusk

On 10/21/2019 at 1:53 PM, Rising Dusk said:

Caramel briefly turned to give a similar bow back to Minty, and wish both her and Rising the best until next they met. Yet she had a kitchen to reach, so after the brief pause, she'd be on her way again. Much to the joy of the nearby foals, waiting for their evening snack. Not something they got often, but this were a most special occasion, so they were allowed to have it better as well.

As for Sickle, she'd give a small smile and bow her head in his direction.

"She have a lot of explanation to do, but I'm sure that in time, she can be forgiven by the others. Thank you for not harming her, great one, and I will look forward to the day when we can meet under less hectic circumstances, in your homeland."

Then the time came for Wisp, and as she were thanked by Minty, she'd get a little blush on her face, and try to copy the bow the elegant mare did, yet knowing that she could not succeed at that level of grace.

When Rising thanked her though, and bowed his head, the blush would intensify, and she'd nervously go over to put a hoof on his forehead, and draw a small circle with it. A Harrowmark greeting that stemmed from olden times, when the first variants of the Harvest Witches would start to show, and this would be how they marked their townsfolk with a protective rune. That practice had long since changed, and the wards gotten better, but the gesture had lived on as a traditional greeting, and it were the only thing she could think of that would be fitting for Rising.

"I-It's been my pleasure to take care of you, Rising. Please remember to take care of yourself, okay? I'll... Be there, soon as I can."

Her mind were a little scrambled right now, but as she took a step back, hopefully he'd be able to look past that, as well as her red cheeks. Or perhaps he could notice it and say something more to her?

That thought - among several others - went through her head and did not help with her blushing issue, yet she might well find that perhaps, neither Minty, nor Rising, would focus all that much about her increasing heart rate and other reactions, as a voice would boom over that of the others in attendance. Not to Minty's levels, but enough to get the attention of the townsfolk that hadn't passed out yet.

"ℂ𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕫𝕖𝕟𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕆𝕒𝕜𝕤𝕓𝕣𝕠𝕠𝕜! 𝕆𝕦𝕣 𝕤𝕒𝕧𝕚𝕠𝕣𝕤 𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕒𝕟 𝕖𝕟𝕕, 𝕓𝕦𝕥 𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕘𝕠 𝕚𝕟 𝕤𝕚𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖. 𝔸𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕠𝕘𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣, 𝕘𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕙𝕚𝕞 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕠𝕗𝕗 𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕖𝕤𝕖𝕣𝕧𝕖𝕤!"

The ones who were present, from the youngest to the oldest, all raised themselves tall, and rose their right front hooves towards Rising, whilst waiting for the floating specter of their high priestess to say the first word, at which point they would all follow suit. Words she would begin as soon as she had placed herself in front of the group, facing Rising a few meters from her. It might be that she had her spout of jealousy, over the favor he had seemingly gotten from her goddess, but that did not mean that she would let the word of him leaving pass her by, without sending him off in a proper way.

"𝔽𝕠𝕣 𝕘𝕠𝕕𝕕𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕢𝕦𝕖𝕖𝕟, 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕥𝕠𝕠𝕜 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕗𝕚𝕝𝕝. 𝕊𝕠 𝕗𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕡𝕖𝕒𝕔𝕖, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕝𝕚𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕝𝕝."

After that, the risen hoof would go into a salute, as the gathered, occasionally tipsy beings gave Rising a goodbye that were reserved for heroes of their country. All except for Thistle, who started to shimmer and shine, as countless glittering moths flew from her being and filled the night sky. Her part of this tradition, started long before she had even been alive, and which would remain long after her spirit had one day been laid to rest, taken over by another priestess of Viz'nay, the moth goddess.

Both Rising and Minty should be able to tell that this farewell, as traditional and heartfelt as it were however, were clearly meant to be recited at someone's deathbed, or to be told to someone that were not expected to return, yet in both cases, it were said with both respect, and a heartfelt wish that when their last breath were taken, their bodies would stay cold, and their spirits be flown off to join Viz'nay's loving embrace, for the rest of eternity. The best fate most could hope for here in Harrowmark, where death tended to just start a new kind of life, rather than simply end it.

Now, traditionally, they'd also have to burn the body, or send someone with him carrying a torch, but seeing how Rising were very much alive, they'd skip that part. She were sure he'd appreciate that.
