AccountNoLongerUsed 741 June 11, 2015 Share June 11, 2015 Why not just buy the discs, activate the license key on Steam and put in the discs in your optical drive and install them that way? Because you wont be able to take advantage of Steam Sales, you would have to pay (dramatic music) RETAIL PRICE

Which not a whole lotta people would willingly do.

Azure Envy 1,092 June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 No doubt, wish it could fix itself when it comes to conversations though. I wish I could buy stuff off of Steam but I have metered internet. -_- Not sure if you're still trying to fix the problem with your framerate, but try installing the latest drivers and ticking the "Clean installation" checkbox. 1366x768 is nothing for a 970.
MountainDrew 1,876 June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 Y'know when your hard drive is so freaking loud that you can hear it all the way downstairs maybe you should get a new hard drive. This is me currently. This Seagate drive is annoying the piss out of me

Luna the Great of all the Russias 2,192 June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 I've heard Seagate drives are pretty bad. If you're referring to a specific website that tests various HDDs, Linus has stated that their testing method is extremely flawed in which they don't test HDDs under the same controlled environment. Currently my Seagate HDD of almost two years is still fine though that's not at all considered a long time.

I have a WD blue, and I'll probably stick to them for a while.

repsol rave 2,963 June 14, 2015 Share June 14, 2015 (edited) is it a better idea to buy 3 2TB drives and put them in RAID 0 or just one 6TB drive? been looking at these: WD Red 2TB WD Red 6TB EDIT: forgot to mention: they'll be going in a NAS, that's why i went with the reds Edited June 14, 2015 by repsol rave

I don't know what kind of NAS you're planning on using, but consider two larger drives in a RAID 1 mirror. Synology units have an easy to configure "hybrid RAID" that maximizes available storage space given at least two hard drives in an array. It's also easy to expand and doesn't require all drives to be the same size. Worth considering if you just want to get something up and running. Edit: I wanted to add that if data protection is your priority, back up anything stored on the NAS to an external and store it someplace else. RAID =/= backup. Kinda like my 4770k that gets hotter than the surface of the sun when I try to get it over 4.3GHz. Though I suppose Haswell chips are notoriously hotter since the IHS doesn't contact the CPU very well.

Luna the Great of all the Russias 2,192 June 15, 2015 Share June 15, 2015 I purchased Cities: Skyline and Watch_Dogs recently. C:S is easily worth it and I think I'm going to be addicted by this game for some time. It's a shame you failed Maxis/EA. Watch_Dogs I haven't played much yet; despite heavy criticism I figured buying it for cheap price wouldn't be too bad.

I downloaded the most recent updates for my mobo but for some odd reason, when I try to update my gpu it says that the product can't be found. My gpu is fully plugged in but it still says that it can't be found. So it won't let me update.
long gone 8,929 June 15, 2015 Share June 15, 2015 The planets have aligned right or something, Valve and Microsoft are partnering up to improve ValveVR on Windows 10 and provide the best VR experience possible on Windows. http://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-partnering-valve-have-its-valvevr-system-support-windows-10-games I find this interesting because of how Gabe blasted Windows 8 and began pushing for Linux gaming over Windows gaming. I'm guessing this means that relations between his former employer and Valve have been normalized again.
King 5,624 June 15, 2015 Share June 15, 2015 Eh, VR doesn't really interest me. So much time and effort put into these VR headset things that only work with 5% of the current games and really only serve as a gimmick. This is due to them being added as an "interesting side feature" rather then games being designed around the VR headset. The games that ARE designed around the VR headsets are generally one hour experiences. VR won't be the "next big thing", it'll forever be an interesting side feature, at least in my opinion.
