Blaze Bronson 343 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 @@Whatevs,@@Mouse, Mouse's build is definitely better than Austin's but I'd recommend looking at the GTX 960, as it is 10-20% better for around 15$ more. The monitor recommendation is good. At this price you won't be able to pull over 1080p 60fps without sacrifice in newer games anyway. So unless you'd like 144 fps in older games like CSGO or TF2 then go for the recommendation

Sweetie-Belle 180 October 13, 2015 Share October 13, 2015 I ordered a new mouse! Finally I can actually play GAMES.. You never really realize the importance of a scrollwheel until it starts to break on you. (took 20 minutes to drill on GTA 5 Fleeca job because wheel kept bouncing around, 2D games/games where you need to zoom in often are nearly impossible to play, etc). It arrives in like 2 weeks though.. The mouse I ordered is a Logitech G502, apparently it's a really good gaming mouse. Do any of you have this mouse and what's your experience with it? Celli 4,310 October 31, 2015 Share October 31, 2015 (edited) @, Here are a couple of good builds: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/XfhPxr/my-first-build-with-helpThis one is bit more pricey, but I think it would be the best value, and this one: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/TqhPxr/updated-october-2015-best-600-canadian-budget-gaming-pc-taxes-included Cheaper, but still a good one as well. Of course, you still need to factor in a mouse, monitor, and keyboard. The KB and Mouse should be easy, and the monitor, you can just use a TV if you want. Blaze Bronson 343 October 31, 2015 Share October 31, 2015 (edited) @@Celli, No more than $500. I want performance over graphics. Does that include windows 10? And does it have to include mouse and keyboard? If so, does it have to be good mouse and keyboard? Beating the ps4 is quite easy, but actually building a PC with that performance is getting you a low price/performance. The sweet spot for price/performance is around 700-800$ in order to fit a r9 390 or gtx 970 in the budget. That nets you a huge performance gain Here is a build with everything. A PC with the best price/performance possible, including windows 10, the best OS for gaming ATM. It also includes arguably the best mouse and keyboard for gaming, for the price. All together 850$. The DeathAdder is overkill for a mouse unless you want to try out side-buttons. I'd probably opt for something higher than 550W for a PSU, they degrade over time and you want to have a PSU with a comfortable margin between your required power and the PSUs maximum output. 1TB is probably fine unless you plan to install a lot of games at once. Shelling out for 16 GB of memory might be worthwhile--you'll almost never hit your RAM limits that way and it'll be a while until that entire amount is going to be consumed. i5 is OK, although I think a low-tier i7 might be a better option if you're looking to avoid upgrading it. If you're comfortable with it, you could also buy Windows 7 or 8 instead and then simply update for free to Windows 10. Oh ok. For gaming, im probably gonna get an Xbox One Controller for it. Have to be careful--the drivers in Windows 10 expect up-to-date firmware from the controller, which requires an Xbox One to update. If it's not, then the controller is an inert piece of plastic for the PC. I assume by Xbox for Windows you mean that you'll be streaming it to the PC? Make sure your network can handle that strain. No, "Xbox For Windows" is what the games that are on Windows PC that you buy from the Windows Games store are called. They are still considered "Xbox" games. Example: Also, since Xbox One now ALSO uses a version of Windows 10, it wouldn't be that hard for Microsoft to also allow you to update your controller's firmware via your Windows 10 PC. And even then, I could always just use the Xbox 360 controller.

The deathadder is somewhat overkill for the games OP wanted to play, however for FPS it's more or less a must because of it's flawless sensor. Bigger power supply, more HDD space, more memory, better processor are indeed nice to have, but they don't give enough performance to justify the price, given that this is the ultimate price/performance. Scrubbed user 3,409 November 1, 2015 Share November 1, 2015 I wish PCs were as easy to use as consoles. I've used computers for a long time, only started to use one to replace consoles for 3 months now. I don't really have any issue with having a game run. The only thing that may make it somewhat complex is when learning to use mouse 'n keyboard, and learning where various things are located when using Steam. When you have it all figured out, it really is no more difficult to use than a console. Just tabs, links, and menus.

No analog stick for movement is one example. More buttons to work with and a mouse is much more precise than an analog stick. Good example: Diablo 3 for console is actually tweaked so that the game is easier than Diablo 3 for PC because it's practically impossible to get the precise movement needed for higher difficulties out of the sticks, which is why no controller option exists on the PC for D3. There's also a far greater degree of options and customization through K&M--there's just more buttons.
