mega thread MLP FiM Season 5 Preview Info (Spoilers)

I think it's possible that the season may be split in half, with a hiatus of about 3-4 months between them. Isn't that what happened with season 3 of Littlest Pet Shop

They did that with Doctor Who 2011, so it is possible. Only a few weeks to go!!! It's on April 4th!!! If it is split in half, hopefully Grogar will appear in episode 13 and then the second hiatus will be about defeating Grogar's forces. I have a heavy feeling this year's villain is Grogar.

It's not just that I'm excited about, MGSV Comes out on September 1st!!! YEAH!!!

By Celestia the smooze are returning? That means we have a powerful Giygas like villain!!!

Another Trailer:

http://www.tvguide.com/news/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-season-5-video/

There was nothing the last few months and now we have a big flood.

"When the rest of Equestria hears that a princess gave up her cutie mark to join us, they will finally see, what we're trying to accomplish."

So she seriously wants to expand her ideology over all of Equestria and uses Twilight to get her message across.

That's actually pretty interesting and some how we know Starlight Shimmer will remove their cutie marks as seen in the trailers but I have to ask how will she do it.  I know the mane 6 yes even Twilight will have their cutie marks stolen but they won't give them up without a fight and I wonder just exactly will Starlight overpower them in order to do so seeing as how she isn't some giant magical monster and a more down to earth simple unicorn.  I think that she will end up being a cold, calculating villain who believes that the ends justify the means and would be quite pragmatic in her actions maybe similarly to Kuvira from the Legend Of Korra.

And thus her using the fact she removed (princess) Twilight's cutie mark would be used as a motivation to convince others to her cause.

Seeing how the interview stated that Starlight has a very different view on friendship and not that she is a tyrant or anything does give an indicator that she isn't like the previous big bads of the series who were either demons, chaotic reality warpers, tyrants, whatever Chrysalis was, or vengeful monsters, which would be a very nice breath of fresh air and could be really interesting.

Lastly the fact the she has a different view of friendship could be really interesting as the entire series is based on the magic of friendship and seeing different viewpoints on it such as her's or the mane 6's could create some nice conflict and intriguing story potential.  But we all have to wait to see don't we?

I can't wait for season 5 to finally premiere, only 4 weeks from tomorrow to go.

Looks like nothing we don't already know.

On a side note, Pinkie's face :okiedokielokie:

Well, i wasn't sure if she was out to spread her ideology, but now it's pretty much confirmed.

My thoughts exactly! Here is the youtube link to the same trailer http://youtu.be/bv7PikL88MU

Remember in the other trailer how Twilight says "It's a trap!" I bet some of the clips we have seen are of the Mane 6 getting surrounded and forced to give up their cutie marks by a bunch of the smiling ponies who are like an army of Starlight Glimmer. Perhaps Starlight convinced the Mane 6 to come to the spot where the ponies give up their cutie mark and they refused so she had them surrounded. If that weird door like thing with the blue squares in the cave is the  spot she might push them in there and they come out the other side with equal cutie marks. You can tell that the Mane 6 did not give up their cutie marks willingly because we have seen clips of Rarity crying at the sight of herself having an equal cutie mark and another clip of Twilight looking depressed with an equal cutie mark

Come on, it's really that big of a spoiler. We know that it would have a happy ending.

All of this new information about Starlight Glimmer's character is really exciting! I love the idea of having a well-meaning idealist who screws up society. The 20th century was full of egalitarians like that and the type still persists today. I fear that there's an alarming amount of people who have grown up idolizing people like Che Guevara or Vladimir Lenin (who despite good intentions did quite a bit of harm to individuals and society), so I think it's great that a kids show is portraying this sort of person.

Here's a video where I go a little more in-depth about this:

I am also very hopeful.

Starlight Glimmer isn't a villain in the classic sense. She is someone who believes that she is right in what she's doing, but is actually totally wrong. Without individuality, our world would crumble to our feet and the human race would probably die.

Also, from what i got in the trailer, is that Twilight might be actually interested in joining them. Does she have a moral dilemma about her princess title? I think that could be interesting.

Don't really have anything more to say. The smooze looks nice, but it's too early to call and i don't know what will happen in EP 100. But i am positive that it will be good.

Twilight never said she wanted to join them. The only one who said Twilight would be joining was Starlight while Twilight had more of a surprised look on her face. I'm pretty sure Starlight was just jumping to conclusions on why the mane six came to the village.

It's just a theory of course. But just think what a great opportunity this would be. I am not against her ascension, but this would make for a great plot point in the episode.

Very true. The writers would never have them keep the equal cutie marks permanently.

Now that would be a twist, i really wouldn't have expected.

Something I just realized. The two stallions that led the mane six to Starlight?

hKCrmAf.png

They look like the stallions in the group that's been seen with the mane six. Just grey them a bit and have their manes and tails match everyone else's.

Have to admit the last trailer sort of dampened my mood towards the premier. The end party suggests too clean an ending with such a concept.  Maybe I'm just overthinking/overexpecting but I was hoping for less of a clean cut good vs evil sort of show down especially with the concept of equality and something more ambiguous.

I wonder... what would everyone's reactions be if the other 4 that have been shown in the trailers, after getting help and guidance and the mane six, were the ones to end up defeating Starlight? Perhaps not even defeated like other villains who were blasted with energy, but in this case actually being able to talk her down and convince her what she's doing is wrong?

Such a confrontation wouldn't happen in the premiere if this is a season long arc, which I think it is. As to what you asked, if it happens, I wouldn't complain. The ending would be unique to the series, instead of rehashing the same formula of the mane 6 solving all the worlds problems themselves.
