The Rainbow Really does ROCK! (Favourite Songs?)

Cavalry Rush

Recommended Posts

Least Favorite: Awesome As I Wanna Be. This song was a skip every single time it came up on the playlist, so I removed it entirely. Too much Dash. Too abrasive. Didn't fit with the rest of the Rainboom's songs.

Favorite: Originally I was a big fan of Shake Your Tail, solely because of how stupid catchy it was. Over time, I realized there really wasn't much substance to the song, especially because there's really only like half of one verse, and then just pre-chorus and chorus repeated.

THATS when I found Under Our Spell. The syncopated beat during the pre-chorus and vocal layering gives me goosebumps.

I also get goosebumps every time I hear the 3rd segment of Welcome to the Show where Sunset Shimmer has to pick up the mic. Then she gets all ponied up and I almost cry. It's beautiful. :D

I like all of the songs, at the top of my favourites were, Under our Spell, next to This Day Aria, it is the coolest villain song MLP had ever given us, but that is just me. Also Battle of the Bands and Welcome to the Show, the Rainbooms and the Dazzlings had a real battle, and it mixed in very well, plus I loved Sunset Shimmer's singing, she was very good. Although I loved the soundtrack, the bottom of my list is Tricks Up My Sleeve, I have nothing against Trixie, this song was jazzy, with a sort of James Bond intro song feel to it, I didn't hate this song; I just feel like I was listening to a song I could listen to at a casino, also Shake Your Tail, it had too much of a nightclub sound to it, especially with the constant use of the word "Party". I though Awesome as I want to Be was suppose to be funny, and it did make me laugh, but I did like the upbeat energy to it, but I fell in love with Shine Like Rainbows, it is a serious contender for my favourite Equestria Girls song.

Favorite: Better Than Ever - Not many people like it, but I found myself singing along to it during the movie and after the movie. It's catchy! :P

Shake Your Tail is also very catchy. Loved those songs :D

Least Favorite: Awesome As I Want To Be - Too centered on Rainbow Dash. It made her look selfish, in my opinion.

I can't really decide which one is my favorite: "Under our Spell" or "Welcome to the Show", both songs are pretty awesome, Daniel really outdid himself there :P

My least favorite song is the bonus track on the OST: "Music to my ears".

I really love Battle of The Bands, my only gripe would be that some of the lyrics sound strange. Especially the part where it goes "why don't we see who is better" was written weirdly to me. I really like the melody though! And the chorus is super catchy. I also like Trix Up My Sleeve. It's really funny and clever!! Oh, and Welcome to The Show is a great one. The transitions between sides was a huge treat, and the second bit with Sunset Shimmer is really great! The song gets stuck in my head all the time.

My least favorite is Awesome as I wanna Be. I actually didn't like a lot of the Rainboom's songs tbh.

Favorite is 'Awesome As I Wanna Be'. Of course that might be a bit bias because I love Rainbow Dash. Still believe it is a really catchy song.

Least favorite for me is 'Music to My Ears'. I personally don't enjoy dubstep.

Well now, it's rather hard for me to pick my least favorite song in the movie.

Favorite: Welcome to the show, Tricks Up My Sleeve, Under Our Spell, Let's Have a Battle, Music to My Ears

Least: Whelp, I guess if I had to pick one it'd have to be Awesome as I Want to Be. I like the song and don't like the song. If it was just the song, without the movie, I like it but when I was watching the movie while listening to the song it didn't strike me as much.

My top five (order depending on my mood) are:

1. Under Our spell
2. Let's Have  a Battle (Of the Bands)
3. Shine Like Rainbows
4. Welcome to the Show
5. Tricks up My Sleeve

Fave: Tricks Up My Sleeve or Let's Have A Battle. Both have a good rythm, lyrics and give me this great feeling of just getting up and poorly dancing around and singing along.

Least: Shake Your Tail. It's BORING and overly repetitive. I don't mind repetition to an extent and Shake Your Tail is far past my limit and patience. The lyrics aren't even all that creative either.

It's a really hard decision. But I've had my share of the soundtrack for today (listened to it entire day...), I guess I can make a decision.

1. Shine Like Rainbows - Definitely the best in the mix for me. Natural, perfect voice singing. Lovely lyrics... I'd play this song to all my friends at once, because it just makes me ... well ... shine like rainbows. The amount of positivity in this one is just... incredible. This song makes me remember what are friends for and makes me appreciate them so much more.

Plus, Applejack's line at the very start hits me RIGHT IN THE FEELS. ALL OF THE FEELS. The lyrics in this song are wonderful. My imagination feeds on this song, it achieves the impossible: Makes me nostalgic about something that never existed in the first place. It's just... hard to describe.

2. Shake Your Tail - for the reason quite simple: it really makes me wanna move. It's lively, energetic... just nice for ear. Plus, I like the instrumental composition in this one.

3. Welcome to the Show - initial "chillout" groove, switching into something actually mesmerizing with a wonderful finish. And HOW WONDERFUL. <3 Sunset Shimmers/Twi's singer VA. Plus, lyrics. "Got the music in your hearts..." <- couldn't agree less. Music is my fuel. Always forever. Not to mention the smile that the last part of this song brings upon my face.

4. Under Our Spell -

We've got the music, makes you move it
Got the song that makes you lose it
We say "jump", you say "how high?"
Put your hands up to the sky.

This. Seriously, I just CANNOT go through this chorus without singing along. I'm really under their spell. It is just as Adagio sings: "Soon you'll all be singing along."

5. Awesome as I Want to Be - How many times have we actually heard proper Rainbow Dash songs? Solo songs? Anyone? Yep. Exactly. And here, we not only get to hear at least a short RD song, but also a very interesting setting for it. Not MLP like, but rather Rainbow Rocks style. A must on the list, period.

6. Tricks up My Sleeve - Honorable mention. Great rhythm, interesting voice. Enjoyed it on an above-average level.

7. Everything else - credited. I enjoyed the entirety of the soundtrack, however the above are in a very strict order. What happens rarely to me, usually I can't decide :P

Any of the songs by the Dazzlings.

Definitely this. Their voices really, really are mesmerizing. Add to this the fact that I am quite competetive so the song 'Let's Have A Battle' really does get me worked up a bit.

I also really enjoy 'Awesome As I Wanna Be' because I like the tremendous ego in it.

'Welcome To The Show' is another song I really love, because of both the lyrics and the music.

Of course, in the end I love all of the songs and I deeply respect Daniel Ingram for being able to create them, and the entire cast for performing them so well.

I still think "Battle of the Bands" is #1. For being a counterpoint to the first movie's Cafeteria Song, as well as being just so thematically solid. Plus the animation during it was top notch. Perfection.
