Bad Religion are pretty damn good, though I wouldn't consider them the greatest out there, you might possibly like some of Bad Religion's stuff, but I haven't listened to that much of them to give out a fair judgement. Not too surprised that you're not a fan of Hardcore Punk, maybe you could try a Converge album (Even though they're closer to being Metalcore band), I don't think that you'd really enjoy them a whole lot, but they do have low pitched screaming more than clean vocals, so they might appeal to you more than Rise Against do.
