Do we really know Fluttershy as a character?

Think much of this just comes from our cultural attitude of quiet people are to be looked upon with suspicion. (I.E. they must have a dark side etc., etc. As a quiet person myself I can attest to this, lol

Well, we got to know some of her family.

She was shy because she was bullied as young by the pegasi and fell down to become an Earth Pony?

 

The stare made no sense, and I think it didn't work when it was really needed (in Season 8)
