Is Fluttershy just a Nickname?

There are ponies whose REAL NAMES are "Stinking", "Namby-Pamby", and "Silver Shill". From that, we can deduce that Equestrian naming customs are different from ours.

This is silly. Why does this imply it's a nickname at all? Each character is based off a certain trait of theirs. You could ask the same of Pinkie Pie, as her name is to do with her colour and not any other trait. Or you could ask why Rarity is called Rarity for her gem-finding abilities, when their name comes before they discover their talent. The only really consistent name is Applejack because she's part of the Apple Family.
Names are based of a trait - any trait. There's no reason why Fluttershy's name should be considered a nickname when all the other Mane 6 have names just as unique.

I think her name was said at the end of the Movie as fizzlepop berrytwist if I remember correctly
