Electro swing is most likely what you're gonna be seeing.

Monterik is solid. I also recommend Gadget, but some of his stuff is hard to find.

What is this "electro" swing nonsense? I came into this topic expecting some good ol' real swing to be posted (which I like, but don't know very well myself) and then everyone's posting ...that... =(

Also none of that 'electro swing nonsense' that Envy apparently doesn't think is as good a genre as any.

Awww come on, now. Maybe I was a *little* harsh, but it's kind of like coming into a classical topic and finding stuff like this all over it:

But the TC said it was included... I just wish some non-electric classic swing would be posted, too, because as I said, I'd like to hear more... Yet none has been posted.

Stray Cats or or Brian Setzer's solo stuff should be easy enough to find. No idea what you play, but Lee Rocker has some really solid base lines back in the day.

Does adding in a few electronic components really make a song terrible?

I could recommend a lot of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy stuff. Of course I doubt you will be doing any of the vocal stuff in pep-band, but there are still some really cool brass parts in there, I hope you have a good trumpet/sax/trombone section.

And here's some Brian Setzer for good luck

Uh, that's not everyone's opinion.

But, clearly, it is mine.

Because that electronic component is typicallya God awful beat machine. Nothing like throwing random snares onto a track. Rhythm and structure be dammed.

I'm not necessarily saying that... Although I won't deny that I'm personally not a fan of mostly/purely electronic music. Some electronic instruments don't hurt (electric guitar, hammond organ) but once it goes beyond that, you really begin to lose me. Especially synth brass, drum machines, and when vocals are turned electronic. That's when you've really lost me. A style of 'swing' with aforementioned aspects is... Something I'd rather not even have to think about. (I tried so hard to kindly word that. xD)

It's not that it's 'terrible', it's just not for me. I just can't see much positive in these electronic components. Acoustic instruments forever!
