No matter how bad it gets, as long as you're still in the game, you've always got a chance for your luck to turn around. Why you'd want to cash in early and end on a bad run is beyond me." Adam looked like an idiot standing at the door. He scanned the area, spying a particularly large group at a table. They seemed to be chatting in an engaging conversation. He mustered up his courage to walk over and said a small hello.

Mark stared silently at the ghosts before him. The former living speaking amongst eachother. Of course, his grin never left his face but it had turned into a soft smile. He decided to speak after hearing a question directed at him. "Well, im just a dude who got stabbed in the back about, 50 or so years ago. Name's Mark. " He said casually, not bothered at all speaking about his death. "Anyway, i decided to show up and check on everything, see how everyone's doing." He took another look at the ghosts before gently shaking his head. "Seems a lot of new ones have shown up." He noted, before finally taking notice of Victoria. He blinked for a second. "Woah, Victoria, that you? Man, its been forever since i've last seen you. How are things going?" He asked her. "Probably doesnt remember me, considering i wasnt really here for long, usually making my visits a couple days every few years. Oh well, its worth a try, anyway" He thought to himself, a gentle, and somehow warm smile on his young, dead face.

Charles made his way down the stairs, picking up on the normal conversations of the undead. When he arrived at the bottom of the stairs, he saw unfamiliar more recent ghosts talking with those that had been there for a longer time. He knew those that died in the house suffered worse fates than him. In fact, he heard the gunshot of suicide ending one's life, reminding him of the others that had taken theirs when this was still an asylum.

 

"My death wasn't a suicide," he said finally as he wrenched his back. "I didn't want to die. Does that make me any different?"

Terrence shrugged his shoulders at Snowflake. "Eh, fair enough. I won't bother lecturing you about something you've already done. Me, I'm another murder victim, like Sal. I was a high-roller my whole life, til a sore loser decided to end it. But here I am, and I'm still up for a bit of action wherever I can find it."

@@Lord Bradley, Victoria smiled at Mark. "Yes, I remember you," she said to him. "You were the first man I ever trusted."

Victoria looked around at the other ghosts. "I didn't want to kill myself, not really," she said in reply to the question asked. "But I got to the point when I felt I had no choice. You see, I had been at the asylum for a long time, and none of their methods were working at curing me. Of course, that was cuz I had nothing wrong with me. But they were planning something terrible. The girl in the bed next to me, Frances, she came to the asylum just before I did. Her husband had her committed after she miscarried cuz she wasn't paying him any attention.

 

"He wanted to marry his mistress instead. It used to be very easy to get someone you wanted rid of to an asylum. Anyway, Frances was given a lobotomy. It turned her from a vivacious, spirited woman into a vacant creature that spent her time either staring into space or shambling round the asylum looking at nothing. They stole her entire personhood and they were planning on doing that to me, too. Better dead than that."

Having been in the same boat as her, the part where she revealed nothing was wrong with her hit Charles hard. "See, that's different," he said. "I never got to grow up or get married. I never even had a love. I was dropped off here by my mum and dad after my sister died. I wanted to get out but I kind of died trying." He chuckled a bit at his pun but stopped when he found no one was laughing with him. "They had come up with this treatment called shock therapy," he continued. "I hated it, I didn't learn anything from all those volts they gave me."

Rush shrugged and finished his sandwich. "Well, at any rate, everyone is here now. I say we head up there and find out for ourselves whether the ghost stories are real or not. You guys with me?"

Snowflake questions Terrence "you must of lived one hell of a good life if you haven't felt what pain we all suffered from.... but really what does it matter now if you were murdered, you killed yourself, or you simply ran out of time... I'm dead, your dead shes dead, hes dead, were all dead and were all fucking trapped here!!!.... FUCK!" Snowflake hits the wall in frustration he then gets on his knees and looks up "God why have you forsaken me?!.... Why must I continue to suffer?!" Snowflake looks back up at the others "I'm... sorry I didn't mean to freak out like that... I just want to see my Sister..."

@@Snowflake Frostflame, "I'm not trapped here," Victoria said. "I choose to stay here cuz I want some payback for how I and others were treated. At least the asylum is no longer here. When it turned into the home for wayward girls, I was sad. It was merely just the asylum under a different name. The girls who came here were no more crazy than I was."

"then you are lucky that you have the option" Snowflake gets on he feet "as for me my soul is trapped here I can't move on no matter how much I want to... it feels like I'm still alive, but I cannot feel" Snowflake receives a flash back of his friend Ryan discovering his corpse he then whispers loud enough for everyone to hear "I'm sorry Ryan...." Snowflake looks up back at the others "so is it the same with the rest of you, your here by choice?"

Mark smiled even larger at Victoria's answer, but kept silent til everyone finished their conversations. That is, of course, until Snowflake said something. Mark got up from his position on the floor and floated up above the other ghosts, floating around the air with grace. Almost like he was dancing through the air, except that he danced as horribly as a rabid dog on stilts. "Well, im not stuck here, really. I travel throughout the land, annoying and pestering the population with totally harmless often infuriating hauntings." He said, still doing that horrible thing he calls 'dancing' in the air. "I merely visit here, since this building is the only place where i can find others like me. This is practically home to me, except that i rarely stay. Dont get me wrong, though. As much as i would love to stay here with the others, I need to do stuff, and staying in one building for an eternity would have driven me mad during the first month, nay, week." He spoke, then stopped doing that horrid thing he did in the air as he floated down beside the other ghosts, the slight smile ever on his face.

Mark stared back at Snowflake. "Why you looking at me for? I didnt do anything! I swear i di-...Oh, yeah. Maybe it was that one time i whispered something to that one guy. Must've created a rumor. Well, sorry about that." He said, somehow gotten a smile through at the end, showing his sheer obliviousness of everything.

"Trapped?" Charles gasped. "I felt the same way when I was alive here. Of course, I was too busy with the nurses when this place was asylum to even think it was haunted. I'm just here because I've got nowhere else to go." His expression turned melancholic as he continued to talk to Snowflake. "At least you didn't have to see your sister die at such a young age. She spent the last few months of her life bedridden and unable to breathe. True, there's a vaccine now but it came far too late for her."

I was forced here after my evil stepfather abused me and lied to the asylum authorities so that he'd escape punishment. After my death, I learned that he'd died of consumption. That was well deserved. While I was alive, I was chained. In death, I'm free."

"On the basics, this place doesn't sound like it was very nice, but kids don't worry about your troubles, once you get past the death theres a lot you'l like, but there are a quite a bunch of downsides, but don't worry bout them, tho most of those downsides are from your own mind, or what it used to be." Terrence shrugged. "In the end, I think it's best to just think of it like this. We're dead now, right? All of our worldly suffering is behind us, and now we have all the time in the world, and we don't have to worry about getting old, or dying, anything of the sort. We can just enjoy ourselves and do what we please. I think that's a pretty good deal, even if it does get a little dull at times."

"I'm with you," Charles told Terrance. "We've been here anywhere from a couple of months to hundreds of years. We've all been frozen in time here because we haven't found peace within ourselves. I know I haven't because I never really got to live. Of course, I never really felt trapped until I was dropped off here. Maybe dying was the best thing that happened to all of us."

"That's probably right," Victoria replied. "There was nothing left for me out there in life; I hated my stepfather for what he did to me, I despised my mother, cuz she didn't stand up to him, and all my friends abandoned me after I came here. At least here I have people to talk to. The ghosts here are like my new family."

(A old doll walks out of the room, where Sal was, it waves it hand up then, begins walking towards the other ghosts) "What ...lse can we do, this place seems a .....ittle dull, lets ...ay some ... games!" (The doll says with a broken voice box, the doll then climbs a nearby table and waves it arms)
