My emotions on this range from "awesome!" to "my lord Odin, why have you allowed this"

Nintendo properties don't exactly have a good track record when it comes to movies and TV

WELL EXCUSE ME PRINCESS!

Joking aside, I don't know how this will turn out. Video game based shows have been shown to not do that good, as shown in the late 80s and early 90s. But those were cartoons, and live action is entirely different than cartoons. If they went the Game of Thrones route with this, oh my god that would be interesting.

Well, I suppose it can't be much worse than the old animated series.

I think it could make for an interesting show if they do it right, but I don't have very high hopes. I'm not sure I have ever seen a show or movie based on a video game that was actually good.

"Netflix is developing a Live-Action 'Legend of Zelda' series"

LIVE-ACTION

Oh my goodness, please don't screw this up, Netflix.

I'm excited they're trying, and cautiously optimistic it won't be terrible. We won't know until it's out, unfortunately, though the description of a "family-friendly Game of Thrones" is interesting.

I like the comparison, though:

The “Zelda” games have traditionally included swords and sorcery, like “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings,” but typically with a more light-hearted, kid-friendly tone.

Rather an apt description of the Zelda franchise, in my opinion.

L-live action? Not an anime/cartoon? Netflix... don't screw this up.

On that note can we get a Smash Bros / Fire Emblem Awakening anime/cartoon out already?

Aaanyways, this could be fake, but one thing that caught my attention was...

Well, from what I've heard, it is certainly at least more kid-friendly than GoT.....

Its definitely more kid-friendly than GoT, but some Zelda games like Ocarina of Time, and especially Majoras Mask were pretty dark, and could be kinda creepy.

Well, lets consider that its real.

Who do you think would be suitable to play Link? Or Ganondorf??

Hmm.... Might be a stretch, but I could almost see Gary Oldman as Ganondorf. Of course, I'm mainly thinking of him as Ruber in Quest for Camelot, which was notably not live-action.

Maybe.... Hugo Weaving as Ganondorf, mayhaps?

Ooh, or Danny Trejo!

Maybe Chris Pine as Link...
