Movies/TV Netflix may be developing a Legend of Zelda series

Recommended Posts

I'm a little leery of the report, and I don't want to get my or anyone else's hopes up, but according to this article, Netflix is considering development of a live-action Legend of Zelda series. Thoughts?

My emotions on this range from "awesome!" to "my lord Odin, why have you allowed this"

Nintendo properties don't exactly have a good track record when it comes to movies and TV

WELL EXCUSE ME PRINCESS!

Joking aside, I don't know how this will turn out. Video game based shows have been shown to not do that good, as shown in the late 80s and early 90s. But those were cartoons, and live action is entirely different than cartoons. If they went the Game of Thrones route with this, oh my god that would be interesting.

My only question about this is, "will it be any good?" We'll have to wait and see. (Providing it even gets done.)

Well, I suppose it can't be much worse than the old animated series.

I think it could make for an interesting show if they do it right, but I don't have very high hopes. I'm not sure I have ever seen a show or movie based on a video game that was actually good.

Well, excuse me, Netflix!

P.S.: Please don't make it like that... thing... from the '80s and '90s.

As I had stated in my most recent status update, I hope it is good. I found Link super annoying in the cartoon which made me hate him.

Surprised Nintendo would be okay with anything live action after the disaster that was the Super Mario Bros movie

Eh, not excited actually. Video game-based TV shows are usually bad, with the only exception  for me being Sonic SatAM, so..

LIVE-ACTION

Speaking of which, this Legend of Zelda live-action movie is also a thing. Low budget, sure, but I actually rather enjoyed it.

I'm excited they're trying, and cautiously optimistic it won't be terrible. We won't know until it's out, unfortunately, though the description of a "family-friendly Game of Thrones" is interesting.

I like the comparison, though:

The “Zelda” games have traditionally included swords and sorcery, like “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings,” but typically with a more light-hearted, kid-friendly tone.

Rather an apt description of the Zelda franchise, in my opinion.

L-live action? Not an anime/cartoon? Netflix... don't screw this up.

On that note can we get a Smash Bros / Fire Emblem Awakening anime/cartoon out already?

Aaanyways, this could be fake, but one thing that caught my attention was...

Well, from what I've heard, it is certainly at least more kid-friendly than GoT.....

Its definitely more kid-friendly than GoT, but some Zelda games like Ocarina of Time, and especially Majoras Mask were pretty dark, and could be kinda creepy.

I really want Fire Emblem instead. I loved the original Fire Emblem OVA and wished it was a full series.

This could be something really cool! Only time will tell if it'll be decent though.

Until Nintendo says something about it, I won't believe that article.

If this is a joke, who at Netflix thought this was a good idea to joke about? Imagine the rage of the Zelda fandom omg.

Hmm.... Might be a stretch, but I could almost see Gary Oldman as Ganondorf. Of course, I'm mainly thinking of him as Ruber in Quest for Camelot, which was notably not live-action.

Maybe.... Hugo Weaving as Ganondorf, mayhaps?

Ooh, or Danny Trejo!

Maybe Chris Pine as Link...
