I have now.

History has begun to repeat itself.

Attitude Era 2.0? :wau:

I don't think I want history to repeat itself looking back on it now. :lie:

It was cool in the moment but apart from a few matches WWE in the late 90's wasn't that great, IMO.

Referring to how we have a member of the Rhodes family working as part of a wrestling show on TNT.

But yeah, no more attitude era. And good riddance. I'm starting to think the Monday night wars did more harm than good. Was five years of competitive programming worth the last 18 years of mediocrity?

The candle that burns the brightest burns the shortest. And reduces everything else to ashes.

I agree about the Monday Night Wars doing more harm than good. It left a number of real life casualties, most notably Owen Hart. I have also always said that the Attitude Era despite the ratings was not perfect. It had quite a few bad moments and the matches from a wrestling standpoint weren't all that great.

It very much was a product of it's time. Plenty of shocking moments but the wrestling hasn't aged well. When people think of all time great matches from Tiger Mask/ Dynamite Kid to Omega/ Okada, not much from the Monday Night Wars gets in. I mean what great matches were there that aren't gimmick based?

I was referring to how Raw on USA & AEW is likely to be on TNT just like it was nearly two decades ago. :umad:

Wow. Has WCW really been gone for that long? :sunny:

It caused Vince McMahon to become content with "whatever". So yeah, I'd agree it did more harm than good in the end.

Technically, not an attitude era match. Consensus is that the era ended at WM 17. And even then, no one really talks about it.

Okay, as I was watching a video of Douki, alongside Taichi, I noticed him holding Despy's mask. Did some research on this Douki guy if he's going to be a new member of Suzuki-gun or if Despy's been kicked out of Suzuki's stable. And I stumbled on the news that El Desperado is injured. Well, that just ruins it for me. :(

He got a broken jaw last week at a Taka-Taichi event. So he's out of the BOTSJ. Not only that, but Flip Gordon is also out of the tournament due to visa issues.

Terrific. :maud:

And it has been confirmed that Douki will be replacing El Despy in BOTSJ while young lion Ren Narita will replace Flip.

And the news keeps coming.

Luchador Cesar Barron AKA Silver King in CMLL and Black Tiger III in New Japan has passed away from a heart attack aged 51 during a wrestling show in London.

Cesar was part of Monday Nitro during the golden age of the Crusierweight division and also portrayed the rudo luchador Ramses in the film Nacho Libre against Jack Black.

Wrestlers from across the industry have sent their condolences, from El Hijo del Santo to Eric Bischoff to even WWE themselves.

May his legacy live on.

Well, time out with the heel characters of the 3 Suzuki-gun members. Well, I couldn't understand the other segments, except for the last bit, in where the dude with the afro wears Despy's mask, and then an unmasked Despy enters and sees the afro dude wearing his mask and he gets pissed off. With Kanemaru being the peace keeper, and TAICHI being scolded by Despy, and the 2 Suzuki members start 'brawling' scaring the afro dude, but it turns out, afro dude got pranked or something. XD

Sorry, there is something i have to get off my chest, regarding our dear friend Bill Goldberg.

Bill-Goldberg-3-1280x720.jpg

He will apparently Wrestle in Saudi Arabia on June 6th.

All i can say is, fuck you Goldberg.

20 years ago, you denied to do a single WCW show in germany, because of your jewish heritage. And now, your heritage is apparently worth nothing for a saudi arabia show, a land that still hates jews.

You Bill, are the biggest hypocrite walking this planet.

Still remember this show like it was yesterday.

Hunter Valley Wrestling’s 1st Anniversary which featured EC3 in an awesome match against Slade Mercer.

I will always remember how kind he was to me.

Which is a shame, IMO. :sunny:

That is my favorite tag team match from WWF/E that doesn't involve the Dudley Boys, Hardy Boys & Edge and Christian trio.

Question, what is that around Iizuka's neck? Because lately, I've also seen Taichi with that around his neck as well, during a backstage Post Match interview. :mlp_huh:

It's the bag used to hold Iizuka's iron glove. Iizuka left it behind after his retirement match in February and Taichi claimed it as his own.

Spoiler

So Lesnar won MITB so get ready for another year of him hardly showing up and holding the belt hostage. At this rate WWE is gonna go the way of WCW. AEW can’t come soon enough and Vince needs to leave, like yesterday

I think that time was a ref's call and it was before the match, so it's sorta kosher? Kinda like the honor rumble last month, where everyone thought Toru Yano gave his spot in the match to Colt Cabanna, but then entered himself in the match anyways and the folks in the back went "Just roll with it."

But lets assess the facts here:

  1. Lesnar never qualified.
  2. Lesnar wasn't present at the start of the match.
  3. I didn't watch but i'm not hearing any indication that this was visually acknowledged on screen by the refs.

But I'm guessing that tomorrow they'll just gloss over this. At best we'll probably get McMahon saying that he's the one who approved of Lesnar being in the match to get some heel heat on the both of them. But I doubt he'll even be that diligent.

I mean he didn't even have the diligence to tell everyone else in the match about the finish. Everyone was told Ali was winning for weeks now, and he was the only one who was notified of the finish set up day of the show.

This might give raw a ratings pop, but that might be mitigated by the number of fans rage quitting the broadcast.  And to think, they were actually serious about making new stars out of the MTB winners.

And in other news,

This Saturday is the debut show for AEW, Double Or Nothing. But one of the matches has already been scrapped.

Hangman Paige vs. PAC is now off the cards. From the sound of things, this was Dragon Gate's call. They didn't want their top guy to loose so they were only willing to go with some form of draw or DQ. The Elite didn't want that, so they pulled the match completely from Double Or Nothing.

But that doesn't we aren't getting the match.

And speaking of free matches getting streamed, the BTE pre-show will be airing for free on Youtube. Opening matches are Sammy Guevara vs. Kip Sabian and the Casino Battle Royale, with a unique set of rules attached.

See the source image

Winner gets a shot at the eventual AEW Champion. And speaking of, no images of the belt yet, but Cody and co have said they want it to be comparable to the old NWA Mid-south North American belt.

Basically what Magnum TA is holding here.

See the source image

So yeah, it's gonna be a big goldie alright.

A piece of armor that is. Can probably tank a shot gun blast. Not a bad design either. Distinctive without being gawdy.

Though I do prefer the later iterations. Shame Billy ended up scraping it in favor of that gawd awful retro National championship belt design. And apperently he did the same for the tag belts too.
